Renovations really took this gym to the next level with the backroom mirror, smith machines, resistance bands, medicine balls, etc. Staff are fun and helpful, and the bathroom/locker room is much nicer than when I first started coming here. I hadn’t visited this location in over 15 years, and I’m truly disappointed by how poorly it’s been maintained. Damaged walls, broken machines with no signage, and a changing room that smells like a mix of body odor and harsh chemicals. I encountered a wobbly treadmill, another that kept emergency-stopping without reason, and a leg extension machine with a pad that kept falling. Staff rarely acknowledges members unless it’s one of their friends, and I even experienced a homophobic comment during one visit. The neglect seems to come from both management and members — disappointing for such a prime downtown Providence location, and far below the standard Planet Fitness promotes. Planet Fitness should be ashamed to have their name at this location.

Showers clearly never get cleaned. It was disgusting at 0900AM. Even if they were cleaned the day before, the women’s restroom and showers should not look as it did. Globs of hair, paper pieces everywhere, scum buildup.

Water only comes out cold / room temperature and the water pressure is like 1/8 of a normal shower. I could’ve taken a better shower with a spigot and a bucket.

I have visited your club three times to cancel my membership. During my first visit, I submitted a cancellation form, but no action was taken. On my second visit, I was told that the system wasn’t working due to it being the weekend. On my third visit, the staff member informed me that the cancellation process had been initiated and that my membership would be canceled within 24 hours.

However, I’ve now realized that my membership is still active and payments are still being withdrawn from my account. On top of that, I’ve received a satisfaction survey, which only adds to the frustration and reflects poorly on how this situation is being handled.

I honestly did not expect such a well-known brand to make a simple cancellation process this difficult. I kindly request that this issue be resolved as soon as possible.

I love my gym on Beverage Hill Ave Pawtucket/ Rumford RI and look forward to seeing the wonderful staff and club manager each day! Hector is the epitome of what all managers should be! He manages the staff but also works with them to keep our gym clean and safe! Love his warm smile when I come in and his customer service is 5 star as well our his staff! Small but okay. Womens locker room is very dirty for about three weeks haven't been cleaned. The same dirty floors, showers and same stains in the toilets from weeks back. On the shower curtains is mold growing on the inside of the curtains. I see no female staff on. Who's cleaning?

Showers are quite gross and looks to not be cleaned regularly. Yellow stains on the floor, shower curtains on two of the four stalls, and the two curtains that are up have a white crust on the inside of it. Lockers also don’t get cleaned out so they are dirty. Makes me question how often they clean everything else.

If you don’t want your money stolen from you don’t use planet fitness. Signed up under the $1 down and $10 a month and was being charged $27 a month plus a $50 fee and when I tried to cancel manager was rude and didn’t want to cancel my membership or refund me tried to dispute with bank and do a stop payment and they sent them something saying I agreed to pay that amount when I didn’t agree to pay 80 for a gym membership

Staff is completely rude and prices compared to other gyms that have more equipment to offer are just as high as your electric bill. The locker rooms smells like a homeless camp with the strong stench of piss which reminded me of the elevators in the project buildings. Cancelation policy is atrocious, after paying $15 plus $49 for an upfront fee i had to pay $58 to cancel the policy and you can’t do it over phone or online you have to show up at the gym then take 40 minutes of saying “no” because the guy up front spent more time trying to convince me to stay instead of taking the 4 minutes to cancel my membership.

It's a great place to work out. Overall I feel lucky to have it in my neighborhood. Things I wish would improve; cleanliness/awful smell in the locker room--it's just an unpleasant place to be, more than usual for a gym locker room, it needs a complete renovation. And the hours are very frustrating-- should be open until midnight most days, and the 7pm close on Saturday-Sunday is really disappointing. These hours likely contribute to being overly crammed with people at peak times. Things I like are the quality and assortment of equipment and machines, polite staff, and overall well organized and comfortable gym to exercise in.

I was extremely dissatisfied with the gym's cancellation process. Despite using the gym only once, I was unable to cancel my subscription through the app, email or any other means available. The gym insisted that I send a physical mail to cancel my subscription. This is unacceptable and ridiculous. I am disgusted with planet fitness. I canceled my account weeks ago and they are still taking money out of my account. I had to block them from my account and then they went in and took money from my debit card without my permission… be aware!! I have called the center many times and requested to speak to the manager and got no callback in always being told he is not available but yet they want to continue to take money out of my account after I canceled my membership and signed it to cancel it and now every time that I called, they telling me that my membership is not canceled. I just transferred from California on a 13 week travel assignment. Because of my work schedule I have to work out at 5 AM. The young lady who works behind the counter assisted me with my membership transfer from California here to Providence Rhode Island. She was very kind and professional. I was highly disappointed when I entered the men’s room and wet areas. It literally smelled like a homeless encampment. To be more descriptive, it smelled like urine, body odor and mildew at 5 am. I only hope this reaches the management and they do something about it.

Clean nice and cheap, with lots of cardio machines. So if you want to do cardio (or sit on a machine looking at your phone or taking pictures of yourself so it doesn't matter which machine) it's good and lots of people seem happy doing those things. But if you want to do any kind of specific weight workout it's become so crowded, and the hours have been reduced, so now there's no time it's possible. The last few months they just seem to have massively oversold subscriptions. They claim it's because the first three months of the year are crowded but I've been going there several years it was never like this.

Ever since new management has taken over, this club has taken a major turn for the worse. After jumping rope in the corner at this location without any negative incident for 1.5 years, I was suddenly told that if I was jumping rope again, I'd be asked to leave the gym?! I was completely confused and asked to see a written rule stating such, which was never given to me. I also asked for contact info for someone I could speak to about this weird rule and I was referred to the website. The staff, who used to be warm and welcoming, talk badly about me and don't greet me or say goodbye. It's like I've done something crazy wrong for wanting to jump rope in the gym. Also, the only water dispenser in the gym was broken for over a month and they were rude about that too. They put the foam barbell wraps in a locked drawer and I now have to stop my work out to go request one, which is totally ridiculous. They said people were taking them, but there was 4 when I started at this club and it's still the same 4 in the drawer now, so it's just another dumb rule. What a shame as this used to be my happy place and honestly I now feel bullied at the gym. Planet fitness is supposed to be an inclusive, positive and non-judgmental environment and this club's management is not living up to those values.

UPDATE: Just wanted to provide the update that after posting the review above, I was told today that my membership is being cancelled and I'm no longer allowed at the gym. So much for feedback I guess? Didn't know a gym could cancel you for leaving an honest review of your experience with them. Amazing the fragility of some male egos! DO BETTER PF PROVIDENCE, you're failing our community!!

I’ve been a member for many years. About 15 in fact. It’s good for a basic gym. Clean, friendly staff. BUT…. They allow a homeless man to occupy the couch in front of the television EVERY SINGLE DAY. He doesn’t work out or use the shower, which trust me wouldn’t hurt. He just sleeps on the couch in the tanning/spa area. You will find him there no matter the time. It puts people’s property in danger and perhaps their safety. The odor…. I can’t begin to describe it. I’ve pointed it out more than once to staff and they just smile and shrug. I have many photos covering to send to corporate and obviously it’s time to find a new gym. Planet Fitness staff/management…. DO BETTER!
