I dropped in here while traveling and preparing for a national powerlifting meet. Staff and members were courteous and supportive for an out of town lifter, and the club was clean, well-equipped and spacious! Definitely recommend!

The way that someone treats people that they don’t know says a lot about them. Jeremy, one of the owners, was extremely unkind to me over something that truly is not a big deal in the grand scheme of life (a parking spot behind their gym). Meanwhile, they have their members parking completely on the public sidewalk, making it inaccessible to residents in the area and people who may utilize wheelchairs. A gym and environment full of hypocrites and bullies!
This gym is the last place on earth I’d ever want to go to :)

Having worked out at most of the local gyms in RI, I can truthfully say the staff here is on another level. Jeremy and the staff diligently went through my problem areas, and wrote me a program that fit both my schedule and my athletic endeavors. Each time I’m in the gym a staff member will make themselves available to me and I can tell they have a vested interest in my improvement. Anyone looking to improve themselves casually or for long term goals in sport should be going here.

Providence Barbell Club sets the standard on atmosphere, equipment, and coaching. The coaching staff is knowledgeable, professional, and prioritizes a safe and inclusive training atmosphere for all members. The community and culture of the gym speaks to the character of the staff and members alike. PBC is a great space to learn and train at whether you’re just getting started on your fitness journey or are looking to get to the next level and improve your craft.

The Club!! Home away from home except I get to get fit and learn a super cool sport here! I've been going to PBC for over 2years now and can't say enough about what an awesome place to workout it is. We have olympic lifting which the owner of PBC Dave coaches and also strength and conditioning which is ran by Jeremy and a couple of other super cool folks. This gym is an open house of people from all walks of life, it's our home, our safe haven and all are welcome to join. I wouldn't want to get jacked anywhere else.

I’ve been a member since 2015 and this gym has been integral to my physical, mental and emotional health. Over 9 years, I’ve received the best programming and coaching from everything to the Olympic lifts from Dave to personalized strength and conditioning from Jeremy. I’ve grown so much as an athlete because of constant support from PBC. Dave and Jeremy’s programming empowered me to do a range of things like, training to compete at the local level in weightlifting to staying strong and active through my recent pregnancy. I’m now 4 months post partum and Jeremy helped me safely and slowly build back my strength. Right now, I can do core work without any pain, that’s such a big deal after a C-section! Jeremy is amazing and he’s great at listening to what your goals are and helping you along that journey. Highly recommend PBC to anyone.

Quite possibly the only weight lifting gym I’d ever go to! From day one…Tommy, Jeremy and all of the members I have encountered have been nothing short of amazing. I always feel encouraged and not intimidated when working out with those that have way more experience than me. Love PBC!!!

PBC was a lifesaver when my back pain was constant and felt like it would never end. Even after moving away from Prov, Jeremy's remote programming keeps me motivated and hitting new goals. I've never been in a more body-positive gym space. Forever a fave!

I do not have enough good things to say about PBC! I have been with the club for over five years, first as an in-person and now as a remote athlete. Dave and Jeremy are two of the most knowledgeable coaches I’ve met. I have a great training program designed to meet my specific goals. They care about all their athletes and are two of the kindest people. I’d recommend them to anyone regardless of where you are in your fitness journey. The facility is also first class 🙌

If you want to get strong in the great 401 area this is the place to be. Dave is a professional wizard when it comes to coaching; seeing movement patterns and being able to communicate to his athletes how to properly address an issue. The environment is a perfectly blend of work hard and play hard. You can get after your training and still have a laugh or two while doing it.

After just under two years my results have been amazing. I'm energized, no longer suffering from persistent joint pain, and my physique has been transformed from dad bod to novice bodybuilder. All that with amazing couching and at a price well below the industry norm. Check this place out, you owe it to yourself.

I’m in the middle of week eight at Providence Barbell Club, so I’m still new to this gym. I’ve been working with Jeremy and his Strength and Conditioning program. At first I was super apprehensive about joining this gym because of how far I’ve fallen from where I used to be. Jeremy is a great fitness coach, not only because he draws from a broad knowledge base of different fitness modalities, but he also has a great feel for each person’s individual needs and goals. Jeremy knows when to push a person and also knows when it’s time to ease up. I also see Jeremy working with children too, which is awesome.
If you’re sick of the same old thing at your gym, want to shake things up, or maybe just want to try something different and challenging, give Providence Barbell Club a chance. I’m glad I did.

Excellent gym; I came in basically as an inexperienced lifter looking to gain some strength and get fit. The five months I've spent training here so far, I've improved beyond my wildest dreams. These trainers WILL push you to get you towards your goals and legitimately care about the success of the people who come here; they do everything to keep workouts fun and interesting while catering to your needs and desires. I don't think I would've been able to gain the physical and mental strength I have if I was working on my own; I cannot possibly sing the praises of this gym enough. Five stars.

Great location. It was walkable from my downtown hotel. The owner was friendly and welcoming to an out of town drop in. The exterior entrance is shared with the CrossFit gym. Once you enter the barbell club is the door to the left. There were 7 platforms. It was very quiet when I went in the morning. The hours are fantastic. I will definitely be dropping in again next time I'm in town.

A uniquely excellent experience.
If you are looking to be more effective with your time in the gym, have strength goals, or are simply looking to do something different, Providence Barbell Club (PBC) is the place.
The coaches, Jared & Dave provide personalized coaching specific to you and how you move.
The workouts are unique and refreshingly different from more traditional "leg day", "back & bicep day" type routines. The workouts also build on each other - every day you are working towards a bigger, longer term goal. I found this to be fun and motivating.
My personal experience with PBC was doing an individualized 12-week program. I live far away, so most of the workouts were on my own, but I would send Jared & Dave videos of my lifts. They were always available to give me feedback and were very prescriptive on everything from the warm up, to the lifts, to the accessory work.
After 12-weeks the results exceeded my expectations.
1. My strength increased - 1 rep maxes went up by an average of 20 pounds.
2. My core strength is significantly stronger and I'm much more stable holding heavy weight.
3. My mobility, specifically hips & ankle mobility, improved allowing me to get into more proper positioning from squats to snatches.
4. My lifting technique improved, lowering my risk of injury.
If you are an expert looking to materially improve your strength, or are new to weightlifting and want to learn how to lift safely.....or, like me, am somewhere in the middle and am looking to improve on many goals, I strongly recommend Providence Barbell Club.
