We are visiting RI from NYC for a week and I took my kids here on a Monday morning. It was our first time here and the staff there Aaron was very helpful. I had purchased a Groupon here but it was for a different activity. Instead of dismissing it, Aaron took the time to make sure I was able to use my Groupon and I was able to pay the difference. I've been to places where they just flat out say no. He was also very patient in explaining to me and my kids all the safety features of the place. My kids had a blast. This was the first time we were able to hook/unhook the latches ourselves so more freedom to try different walls. If we come back to RI, we'll definitely visit again!

I've been climbing regularly here for almost a decade. I've been to other franchises, other rockspot locations, but this gym remains my favorite due to the wonderful staff. I've never been anywhere so universally welcoming, the vibes are excellent. everyone there clearly enjoys climbing and is invested in making sure you're enjoying climbing too. There are pride flags everywhere, and while I can't share details, I will say that I have witnessed them being true allies in the face of intolerant behavior from a climber. These are good people.

Not for kids at all.. will be a waste of money. Better go to the one in Milford, MA have rock climbing and more activities for big and small kids.

We recently discovered this place because our three-year old daughter loves to climb. Once a month they offer a toddler time, which we have been attending for a couple months. Our family has no climbing experience but everyone (including staff) are very welcoming. Don't feel intimidated and check it out!

The owners do a phenomenal job, from their gyms and how each one has its own character to the off site adventures. The staff are great, had my son's 6th bday party there. Been going to rock spot gyms for over 10 years, and will continue. Hats off!!

Been climbing here regularly over the past couple months, and I always look forward to my next visit. Was never much of a rock climbing enthusiast growing up, but I think it's one of those things that are quite enjoyable even if you're not super into it by nature. Highly recommend this location for belaying, auto-belaying, bouldering, etc. at all skill levels.

This Rock Spot is amazing. Great routes and a good combination of auto-belays and ropes. Plus they move the auto-belays around and change the routes on a regular basis. Staff is super helpful and friendly!
The one negative is that it can get crowded at times... maybe if the staff was less friendly... ;)

The staff here are truly dedicated to helping each and everyone of their customers feel comfortable with this new experience. I had previously been to Rock spot with family and friends and couple of times but I had went with a group of peers and councilors from the Brown University Pre-College program and the staff did a phenomenal job with reassuring student safety and just letting us know to have fun and take in the experience for what it wasβ€π

I love Rock Spot. This was my first trip since Covid started. It was a terrible experience.
I called to see if I needed a reservation - I was told none needed.
I was expecting to have a person on every other rope for distance - there were people on each rope, within 3 feet of each other. No max capacity.
As my stay progressed, more and more people came including a little kid's birthday party.
There was no place to change or move around without rubbing shoulders with other people.
This is not ok during Covid.
We did not feel safe and left early. Wish I could get my $70 back.

Rock Spot is one of my son's favorite places to be and I'm so glad they've been able to successfully reopen during this time. The care with which they've handled all the necessary restrictions around COVID is impressive, and I was absolutely comfortable having my son attend camp this summer and now return to pre-team practice this fall. The camp weeks provided him with a great outlet to be around other kids and get physical activity during a time when so much was not available. The instructors have always been wonderful in the more than 4 years he's been going there for youth classes, camps and now pre-team, and that has not changed at all. If you have a kid who loves to climb, can't recommend Rock Spot any more highly.

I am a parent & Troop Committee member with a local Scout Troop. In December of 2019 we had an overnight event at the Lincoln Rock Spot. Our host, leader, and instructor was βBig Mattβ Goyette. He was thorough, professional, and prepared; he dealt equally well with adults and with Scouts (boys as well as girls); and he was calm when necessary but roared when that was needed. The entire event exceeded my expectations.
Big Matt had a plan that he followed throughout the evening, night, and morning. He got a large group of Scouts through the merit badge work, which made them satisfied. He also arranged for Scouts who were not working on the badge to get a good experience and have fun. His organization and poise meant that he delivered everything that had been promised to us.
He also used his own experience as a Scout to connect with the kids. They listened to him and learned what he was teaching. That's a great skill.
Making this possible were the half-dozen young instructors who handled the small groups. Matt circulated among the groups as needed, and the individual staff members all displayed similar levels of patience, detail, and positive attitude. I work at a university, and we employ a lot of students in various roles. These instructors all would be among the very best, compared to the undergraduates I meet daily. This is compliment to them as people; to Matt, as their supervisor; and to the company culture as a whole.
The facility was clean, modern, and large enough for our troop.
I would do another climbing overnight at Rock Spot without hesitation.

First time rock climbing, I went in on a Wednesday night. It was pretty busy but the staff were nice and helpful. They made sure I had everything I needed to get started and gave me a basic rope lesson. I went with friends who were more experienced so I was okay but if you're going alone, the basic lesson is not enough to get you started, so I would suggest taking a class first. The other issue is that the novice climbs are not many so if the gym is crowded, and you're a newbie, you'll find it difficult to get many climbs in. Other than that, it was a fun experience and I look forward to going back.

It's a climbing place, with very little in the way of games or anything to add interest beyond climbing up and down walls, which gets old very quickly. Definitely not suitable for kids, either, and the entry costs are very high: $25 per person.
----------------------------------------
Edit, following the owner's response:
Some good points about the place -
- They have a toddler morning, which looks great. The problem for my kids, at least, is that they were very afraid of climbing up the tall walls, or even the lower ones. The learning curve is very steep, and while the instructor was professional and helpful in explaining how to climb the walls, there was no activity or set of activities to gently ease in the kids into climbing. In the end, we basically paid $45 for two kids (6 and 7 years old) who never actually climbed anything there, but just ran around and played with each other.
I think there's great potential here to have a set of more gentle activities for younger kids: maybe climbing ladders, trampolines, ropes to swing on, etc. I also recall that we were there at a birthday once, and there were such activities for kids. It just looks like in the day-to-day operations of the place, there's no thinking about younger kids. That's not necessarily a bad thing: you can't cater for every age. But if that's the case, I would expect a much lower entry price for kids.
- The customer service is good, and we were quickly processed and given instructions about the use of the place. And, of course, I appreciate the prompt and courteous reply by the owner here.

Nice place!, Not a very large locale, and perhaps a tad small bouldering area for people who wants to boulder alot. (it feels as if one would run out of problems relativly fast) But they have a decent amount of normal climbing walls for top-roping/auto-belay. Heard they'll be opening another location mainly for bouldering in the Providence area soon though.
