We are a result driven fitness facility offering a wide variety of workout options. If I could give a negative 5 star I would! Horrible business owners. I went in to cancel my membership on March ,13, 2024 the girl working had me sign a document and said I was all set. Shame on me for not looking at my bank account till August and noticing I'm still getting charged. I work a lot of hours. (hint why I'm not able to go anymore) So I've been calling and calling, and no one answers! Finally, I get someone on the phone on 8-29-24! I ask for the owner and was told she wasn't in, but she will call me. Well never received a call.
9-5-24 Now I have a day off and I go there and a different girl working says she doesn't see anything on my account about any cancelation and I tell her I called to cancel, and the girl told me I had to come in to sign a form to cancel so I did! She then says "ohh yea I don't know we don't sign forms; you would have had to write a letter to the owner to cancel. "
So, I ask for a piece of paper and write a letter to the owner to cancel and explain the whole scenario of my original attempt to cancel and asked for a reimbursement along with her to call me or email me.
Now its October,1,2024 still no call and after "writing the owner a letter to cancel on 9-5-24 I got charged again on 9-23-24!!
I contacted my bank along with the Attorney General.

The only way is gym is still in business is from robbing people and if you sign up, you’re a fool after reading these reviews I canceled my membership. the woman that runs it is a nasty person. My card was charged multiple times after cancellation. I had my bank change the information and somehow they found out my information again. This is all with the fraud department with my bank. Then they comment back saying sorry we can’t find you in our Information to make it seem like you weren’t a member. The only people that are responding positively are the owners or friends.

Terrible gym like many others I canceled my membership handed a letter directly to the owner, still getting charged multiple months after. Do not go to this gym it is a dishonest place. I will be reporting them to the RI Attorney general i Hope everyone with a similar experience does as well.

If I could leave ZERO stars I would. Like EVERYONE ELSE in these reviews I have cancelled my membership MONTHS AGO & continue to keep getting charged. I have left more than 20 messages with staff because owner is never available and I never hear back from anyone. After speaking with one of the HONEST STAFF of the gym they said it happens ALL THE TIME & the gym owner NEVER CANCELS ANYONE, EVERY CANCELLATION IS LIKE THIS & THE OWNER HAS IT SO THAT SHE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN CANCEL OR REFUND ANYONE .. They are holding all of their members hostage for money.. i am looking into a CLASS ACTION lawsuit and will be contacting all the people that were wronged. The owner is terrible & this is bad business. DO NOTTTT GO TO THIS GYM!

This place is ridiculous. Trying to cancel a gym membership and this place is a nightmare. Should have acknowledged the rest of the reviews and realized that, but I gave the benefit of the doubt. If you want to be charged several more times despite not being there, go for it. Try calling and you get through 30% of the time.
As a business model if you see people are not having a good experience on something changing it would often lead to more success.

This gym is an absolute scam. We canceled our membership 2 and a half years ago and when we canceled we had to put a stop payment on our credit card because they keep charging you regardless of whether you have canceled your membership or not. Today I look at my credit card bill and there are $1,100 in new charges 2 and a half years after canceling!!! Thankfully I have documented emails of my cancelation to provide to my credit card company. Anyone who reads these reviews and continues to start a membership here is crazy. This is a complete scam.

If only Google would let me leave 0 stars. This gym charged me fraudulently for 2 YEARS after my cancelled membership. I have called the gym no less than 15 times and always get told the manager will call me back. I have gotten one email from Melissa saying she’s “working on it”, then back to radio silence. This is the most unprofessional business with terrible customer service. They clearly don’t care an ounce about their members. Avoid at all costs.

FRAUDULENT CHARGES! My 16 year old daughter cancelled her membership and was charged 4 different times on her credit card within minutes. I called the gym when she signed up and asked if there would be a cancellation fee because I thought it was pricey for a child. I was told at that time by the manager, that she would waive any cancellation fee and she could cancel at anytime. She normally pays $28.25 a month these charges were $30, $45, 2 x $3.25.
I was obviously upset and called to speak with a manager. I was told she was not in, so I left a message about my concern and I left my number and asked for her to call me the next day. I never received a call the next day. I called the gym 5 times during the day, no one answered the phone. On my last call to the gym I received a message “the person you are trying to call is refusing your call”. I was obviously angry that I was purposely being avoided, especially when fraudulent charges were made to my daughter’s account! I drove to the gym at 1:00 and walked in to find the manager at the front desk and the gym was completely empty. I spoke with her and she said she apologized she looked at the notes in the account and would issue a refund and send me an email to confirm. I received an email that stated they would refund of $30 and $15 dollars. I immediately sent an email back stating that my daughter is still being overcharged! Her monthly payment was $28.25. I never received a response.
I spoke with a friend (attorney) who advised me to filed a fraudulent claim with the bank. My daughter is a minor and any contact she may have signed is null and void.
I WISH I HAD READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE SHE HAD SIGNED UP!
This issue could have been completely avoided had this matter been handled professionally.

Horrible, and worst customer service. I have been calling for almost 3 weeks requesting information on their group classes, because their website is not working. The receptionist has told me few times that owner will call me, well no one has called. Yesterday, I took a trip to the gym, the owner was there, but the receptionist said he couldn’t answer my questions, he was chatting with someone else, not about work ( dear mr. owner if you have a business, you are supposed to care for your client and potential clients), specially if their website is not working properly. I asked the receptionist for a print out for the classes, and she said she didn’t have one, What a terrible business. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but after all the previous bad reviews, it is confirmed, they are terrible. Too bad, because the gym is a good location, please sell it to someone with good ethic work and customer skills, can’t be that hard.

I had gotten charged twice in one month, I called the gym 2x and an employee said they would have the manager reach out. Once I went in and caught the manager to chat she stated its because my payment declined so now the other $25 is the late fee. After going back and forth with Melissa she agreed to just put that charge towards my June monthly membership. I stated that was fine but I would be moving in the middle of June so I have to cancel &This is plenty of notice. Melissa stated all was good and I asked multiple times if she needed anything from me or if anything arises to inform me. About 4-5 weeks go by and I had gone in a handful of times and no one- not even Melissa had stopped me regarding any issues with my account. I get charged again so i call and was very kind even though I was frustrated and we agreed she could send me $25 in the form of a check (should the refund not go through on her software) to my new address.. nothing about fees or anything charges. The next day I use the gym and discuss in person the situation. She states she still has to check things so I contact my bank to which I was again informed no charges had any issues..ever. I got it printed out and emailed Melissa at this point. She then tries to inform me I owe cancellation fees, and that there Is a note on my account again for declined charges. Nothing of this has been mentioned and she had already lied so I do not believe it. She’s had weeks to inform me of anything, and failed to do so until I finally went to my bank and confronted her. I spoke with Maddy Wednesday night and she let me write out a cancellation and does not mention any declined charges, or any other fees of any sort. Then i get charged again and She fails to answer the phone or emails. I go to the bank and explain what’s going on. They do a stop pay and try to stop any pending charges. It wasn’t until she received this notice that now she emails me saying she waived cancellation fees as a courtesy which I was not informed about those at all& and then something about monthly dues of $50 that she would cut in half. Every time it’s a different story and excuse to keep charging me or keep me from cancelling. Then she emails me that she cannot cancel my membership due to unpaid balances. I filed a report with the BBB and went to file suspicious activity. I will be filing with the attorney generals office next.

As a college student, Smithfield Fitness has provided an amazing place for me to work out at when I am home for break! The classes are motivating, so versatile and inviting. I’m 21 but it’s perfect for any and all ages. I wish I could work out here all year round. If you’re a college student looking for a gym this summer, Smithfield Fitness is the way to go!!

So this was a 5 star review. Now it's 1 because I cancelled my membership. And I'm still getting charged. I canceled last month and they still charged me for fees right after. I gave the owner my cancellation letter and everything. Now I got charged 45.00 again. I called the owner today. She apologized and said it wouldn't happen again. That I would get reimbursed. Now tonight I looked at my account. Their charging me 25.00 more dollars for no reason, I also got an email from them this morning saying my membership got canceled even though I canceled it last month. I really don't understand how they operate. I have been more than cordial with everything. I don't recommend them srry.

It seems I have the same complaint as everyone else. They lie and steal your money after canceling your membership. After being put through hell just to cancel my membership they still charged my cc a year later. So they haven’t charged my cc for over a year as I canceled in Jan of 2021. In March 2022, they decided to randomly charge it for annual fees even though I haven't been a member in well over a year. I emailed and nada….no response. I mean I would literally be SO embarrassed to be that hard up for money. They are holding their clients hostage and try scamming them long after they canceled. Still debating if I wanna invest more time into their theft because it definitely isn't an oversight…..

Didn’t even want to rate this a one. Filed a complaint with the BBB. She does not answer phone calls. Staff are always saying she’s never there so I can never get in contract with her. Canceled my membership back in October. My two moths are up. She still changed me $39 for monthly and $49.99 for yearly. Also doing the same thing to my sister as we speak. Like I said filed with BBB. If she does not give me my money back and knock it off I will expose her biusness on Instagram and Tik tok. (81k) followers. DO NOT get a membership here.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GYM!! I’m a strength coach in Las Vegas and am home for the holidays and let me tell you, what a little gem of a gym I found while I was home. Melissa and Bob are so kind and welcoming and hooked it up for me and my sisters so we would have a place to train at while we were home for the week of Xmas! Love the equipment and all the space in this place. Owners that really care and you can tell. So happy I found them! 11 out of 10 stars for sure!!

Do not get a membership here! No matter how many times you try to cancel a membership they will continue to make excuses on why it cannot be canceled yet. We have been trying to cancel for over 4 months and they continue to charge us and say our “cancellation is still pending” despite weekly emails and phone calls to follow up. They have time contact your bank and ensure they continue to receive payments during the same months they are “too busy” to contact you and review your multiple cancelation requests. Their cancelation procedure and business model is unprofessional, inappropriate and honestly should be illegal. They know what they are doing and it is disrespectful and significantly inconsiderate to their members. Do not get involved with this gym.

DO NOT get a membership here. The owner is a THIEF and a LIAR! My husband and I had to jump through hoops to cancel our memberships. We tried canceling in 2021 and were told we couldn’t because our memberships were renewed and that we had to wait another full year. Finally a year later, we wrote handwritten official letters in August 2022. Our accounts are STILL being charged (Now October) $160 in total for apparent fees and months we so called owed. IT’S ALL LIES!! I made SURE all balances were paid in full and the memberships were ready to be cancel in August. I paid $80 then! I was told I was only going to be charged in September our last and final payment. Apparently my husband was recently charged another month $30 and an annual fee of $50 for fees I somehow owed on my account. My account was now charged the same amounts this morning for the same apparent fees($80) she said was unable to be charged to my account. THEY ARE LIARS AND THIEVES!! Do NOT trust a word that comes out of their mouths. Regardless of whatever “contract” you sign with them, they do NOT hold up to anything on it. Melissa is NEVER available, she is never there to correctly and professionally handle the situation. I was sent a confirmation email yesterday that our memberships were officially canceled and today, October 21 another miraculous $80 has been debited from our bank account. DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP AT THIS GYM.

DO.NOT. GET. A. MEMBERSHIP. HERE!!!! If I could give this place negative stars I would. My husband and I got a membership here about a year and a half ago. We called and informed them we would like to cancel after our year was up. I was told by the lady on the phone that our year mark wasn’t until march (at the time it was around January) and that I could pay out the rest of my contract or wait until march. I decided to wait and continue to pay the monthly membership fee. Once we hit our year mark they informed us we needed to come in and deliver a hand written letter and we'd be all set. They didn't inform us that our yearly member ship would automatically renew and when we delivered the hand written letter we had to pay hundreds of dollars in fees to cancel, including two separate cancellation charges for each memebership for $135 per person along with other fees and charges, and even a late fee for a random month they didn't charge us. They tried to blame it on us saying we had insufficient funds but our account was hooked up to a credit card so that clearly wasn't the case. I would definitely look for a different gym, they will scam you out of a lot of money if you ever try to quit.

I never leave reviews but had to on this one. Be very cautious when considering joining this establishment. Terminating membership and dealing with Meilssa during this process was a complete nightmare..But the worst was a year and a half after my membership terminated Melissa reactived my membership on June 2 2022 under the name The Sevigny Group and started withdrawing a monthly membership fee by using my bank account information I provided to Smithfield Fitness a year and a half prior. I left 4 messages with staff (Brian and Emma) for Melissa to return my call in hopes of resolving and refunding transactions to avoid bank involvement, a returned call never happened forcing me to report this as fraudulent activity and closing my checking account. Please be aware of the tatics of this establishment. Read the other reviews with similar experiences. Feel free to respond now Melissa with your aggressive belligerent tongue as you have to your other complaints. Wish I could leave a negative star review. One star is too good for this facility.

Great atmosphere, friendly helpful staff and clean facilities.
When I signed up at Smithfield Fitness 6 months ago I was inexperienced, nervous and unsure if I would commit to actually working out consistently. However, the staff was extremely supportive of my goals and helped give me the confidence I needed to reach my goals.
Six months later, I'm proud to say that I am the healthiest I've ever been and I look forward to training at Smithfield Fitness 6x a week! I TRULY couldn't have done it without the staff at Smithfield Fitness.

I want to start off by saying when I first joined this gym I had very high hopes. Though the membership was a little pricey, your paying for the use of high end equipment, a relatively clean environment and for the most part a friendly, courteous, professional front desk staff.
I have never been one to write a negative review and I realize that all small businesses have had difficulty staying afloat in these trying times and that most small business locations have their ups and downs.
With that said, I have many concerns I feel the need to share with anyone contemplating a membership here.
Getting my full workout in and the ability to decompress are two objectives I try to accomplish after entering this gym. Unfortunately, it did not take me very long to realize that accomplishing these very simple goals was much easier said than done.
Having to overhear what seem to be personal and private conversations from the owner regarding other members and current employees on a daily basis is a contributing factor to the dramatic decline in my opinion of this establishment.
Unfortunately, this is not the only negative experience I've dealt with here.
Walking into shouting matches between the owner and her husband and/or boyfriend constantly became abnormally routine and eventually became too uncomfortable for me to deal with on a day to day basis.
Eventually the decision to end my membership with this establishment was a no brainer, but being able to actually terminate my membership had become an impossibility.
Each and every time I attempted to cancel my membership, I was told by a member at the front desk that the only person who has the ability to do this is the owner Melissa. After several attempts to contact Melissa in person, it began to feel like I was being avoided. After several weeks of visits/calls in attempt to cancel my membership, my account was charged the gyms monthly fee.
At first, what was tedious and annoying eventually had become infuriating. Between calling and visiting this establishment easily over 20 times to simply cancel my membership, I continue to be charged on a monthly basis to a gym in which I tried leaving months ago.
The lack of professionalism is overwhelming, unfortunate and most of all unacceptable!

BEWARE! Smithfield Fitness is a predatory business that drains your bank account under false pretenses. I began a personal training membership with them to get in shape for my wedding, but when I returned from my honeymoon they charged me $1,100 for personal training sessions that I could not use because I was away and then refused to cancel my membership or refund my money. The owner is non-responsive and still has not canceled my membership. Save yourself the NIGHTMARE experience that I am going through by avoiding this business at all costs.

The amount of support from the Trainers and other Participants was overwhelming. Definitely check them out, join, and participate in the challenges!

the gym itself is very nice. its small & private, & the staff is very nice. but I wouldn't recommend the 6 week challenge. it needs some help especiallyfor the money you are being charged!!! there was no communication & it was extremely difficult to get ahold of someone when I had questions or concerns. my work schedule is EXTREMELY busy & no one kept in contact with me about weekly check ins. I paid at lot of money for a personal trainer & a personal nutrition plan with meal plan containers & a nutritionist zoom call/meeting. I just recieved my containers days before the challenge ended & never saw a nutritionist or a meal plan..... I did however recieve great personal training & learned alot from the trainer I was given. but unfortunately the challenge portion of it needs alot of help. I wouldnt waste money on the challenge until there's better communication between everyone involved.

Do yourself a favor and save yourself a headache , do not sign up for this gym.
As far as the gym itself, the facility is decent. Good equipment, smaller than your average gym. The men's locker room is a bit dated and could use an upgrade. They have old lockers like the ones I had in middle school and a handful didn't seem to work all that great. The showers are ok, there is no place to put your soap, so plan on leaving it on the ground if you plan on showering there.
Now on to how this place is run... I signed up membership in February 2020, the basic plan , $35 a month. Then COVID hit and the gym was closed for approximately a month or so. I had emailed the owner, Melissa to inquire what would happen to my account during this time the gym was closed. I was given an option of having my membership frozen or given a credit at the end. I opted to have my membership frozen. I received an email from her indicating "It has been processed". A month later, however it never happened, my account was still charged. I emailed the owner again , to receive a reply indicating she never got the email in the first place and to forward her all the emails previously mentioned, so I did. I never heard back.
A year later, February 2021, when my contract SHOULD have ended, I came in to try to cancel, however the front desk person stated only the owner had the authority to process a cancellation. I asked them when she would be in, however, they said they did not know. This proceeded me to calling the next 2 days to see if the owner was in, but the same front desk person said she would pass my number to her and she would be in touch with me, which never happened. This resulted to me emailing the owner as it seemed like she wasn't in too often and could care less about her customers concerns. I addressed that I wanted to cancel my membership and I was told I needed to pay an additional 2 more months in order to cancel because of the fact they were closed and they mentioned I needed to give 30 days notice, which they said did not happen which resulted in me paying an additional month! If I'm getting charged til April, but came in February to give my termination notice, explain to me how that isn't more than enough time. So after about 2 weeks of back and forth emails, I decided it was just a losing battle and payed their shady $105. In the beginning I really wanted to stray away from a big box gym and help out a local business. Boy was I wrong, it is not worth the trouble, do not sign up for this gym. Poorly run, communication is terrible and their policy is not thoroughly explained up front. If this review helps me save a few people from signing up , paying the $105 makes it worth it.

Had my first circuit training at Smithfield Fitness and it was awesome. It’s conveniently located near my home too which a huge plus. Facility is very clean and the equipment is in really good shape.

started using this gym 2 weeks ago, and ITS AMAZING, i left maxx fitness to try it and never turned back, the place is clean and staff are awesome, the classes they have are 2nd to none, THIS IS A MUST TRY for all gym going folks A++++++ place

I love the owners, they are wonderful people. They have a large variety of classes and equipment. The treadmills are awesome. I took a class with Melissa and enjoyed the workout!

Loving the new gym. Such a variety of classes to choose from something for everyone. The staff and trainers are so friendly, experienced and lots of energy and motivation!! Everything is clean and the new high tech treadmills are awesome!!
