Walk into Titanium Yoga Studio and the first thing you notice isn't the poses or props—it's the light. Natural illumination streams through strategically placed windows, washing over rich wood floors and creating an uplifting atmosphere that makes you forget you're in busy Newport.
Stefanie Mansfield and Amy Van Kirk opened Titanium in November 2023 after serendipitously meeting as transplants from Massachusetts and New York. Their vision: create Newport's first community-focused, unheated yoga sanctuary. What they've achieved feels both intentional and organic—a space that's simultaneously polished and welcoming.
The studio's 40 weekly classes range from yin to power yoga, but it's the approach that sets Titanium apart. Instructors incorporate classical dance-inspired poses, adding fluid dynamics to traditional sequences. This isn't yoga as workout; it's yoga as "work-in"—releasing stagnant energy rather than burning calories.
The prop selection alone justifies the visit. Hasta Padha double-looped straps, ergonomic blocks for wrist concerns, cork blocks, wheels, bolsters, and sandbags—all included as loaners. For drop-in students or Newport tourists, this eliminates the equipment barrier entirely.
Clean lines and organized storage cubbies create an uncluttered environment where the eye can rest. White walls amplify natural lighting, while wood floors provide literal and metaphorical grounding. It's Instagram-worthy without trying too hard.
Location matters in Newport, and Titanium nails it. Limited free street parking eliminates downtown parking headaches, while coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance make post-practice socializing effortless. The studio particularly welcomes older couples—a demographic often overlooked by fitness-focused chains.
Teaching philosophy centers on heart-based instruction rooted in classical yoga principles. Amy Van Kirk has taught since 2008, training with masters like Jason Crandell and Desiree Rumbaugh, specializing in alignment-based vinyasa. Fellow instructor Abbey brings Boston studio experience, while Pallyanna adds holistic mental health perspective as a Salve Regina graduate student.
Special offerings like "Titanium Friday Beats" sessions and group meditation distinguish the schedule from cookie-cutter programming. But everyday classes reveal the studio's true character—intimate gatherings where adjustments feel like genuine assistance rather than perfunctory corrections.
Customer feedback consistently emphasizes the welcoming atmosphere. Reviews describe leaving sessions feeling "more alive and connected," while owners' personal responses demonstrate engagement beyond customer service.
What emerges is a studio succeeding by refusing to overcomplicate yoga's essential promise: connection to breath, body, and community. Unheated rooms encourage internal heat generation. Abundant props support exploration without judgment. Natural light reminds practitioners that yoga is about illumination.
In a wellness landscape dominated by heated challenges and Instagram aesthetics, Titanium feels refreshingly grounded. It's where classical dance meets traditional asana, tourists practice alongside locals, and the biggest challenge might be finding street parking rather than holding crow pose.
For Newport, attracting manic hords seeking beauty and respite, Titanium Yoga Studio provides both—plus authentic community experience that can't be manufactured, only cultivated with patience, intention, and abundant natural light.

Took the 8:30 Align and Flow. The room is attractive, simple and has a nice wooden floor. Perfect lighting. The instructor was wonderful. She was constantly showing us ways to keep stress off your joints and modify to keep practicing for years to come. Lovely shavasna too.

The studio is immaculate with a beautiful wood floor; classes are small which means a lot of individual attention. I hadn’t practiced yoga in a long time so taking Slow Flow with PallyAnna was the perfect way to restart my yoga journey. I also took privates with Amy and as a result was able to make significant headway to improve my practice and release muscle tightness. It was a pleasure to take classes there.

Mary was fantastic. I visit Newport every year and decided to try a different studio. Mary’s cues were good, the pace was enough to get a workout, build strength, and there was a lot of good stretching. Highly recommend!
