I am here to bridge the gap between rehab and fitness. With years of experience training clients that come from a wide variety of backgrounds and age/health ranges I have helped many to improve their quality of life through exercise. I am able to provide a high caliber service that is tailored to a clientʼs unique goals regardless of whether those goals are oriented towards body composition, health concerns, athletics, pain reduction, rehab, or just to live a healthier lifestyle. My personal goal as a trainer and massage therapist is to always continue to learn and be able to assist my clients in achieving their goals in a: fun, educational, and at times, challenging setting. -TM

Being relatively new to Rhode Island, I discovered Tyler and Transitional Movement (TM) a few months ago while searching for a personal trainer—and quickly realized I’d also found expert stretching and massage therapy in one place. I’ve never been someone who naturally enjoys exercise (an understatement), which is why I sought out a trainer, but working with Tyler has been a gift. His positive, caring attitude and smart, creative workout routines have made our sessions something I genuinely look forward to—and they’ve been highly effective. The combination of personalized workouts, table stretching, and therapeutic massage has become a true whole-body wellness routine for me. After several months, I feel stronger, have less joint pain, and notice better stability—especially important in my early 60s as core strength can decline and fall risk becomes more relevant. I can’t speak highly enough of Tyler, his commitment to his clients, and the quality of his training. He is an exceptional personal trainer, is very targeted and effective in addressing trouble spots on the massage table, and has my highest recommendation. He also has a great sense of humor which is a plus. I appreciate what he does very much and consider myself lucky to have found Transitional Movement. His pricing is also both fair and reasonable.

Tyler is the man!!

I’m a therapist myself working locally for Elite Physical Therapy & I can confidently refer patients to Tyler for a variety of reasons.

1. Wellness or Sports massage
2. Personal training & nutrition services
3. Late stage rehab/corrective exercise/postural imbalances.

There are a lot of massage therapists that are really skilled at the hands portion of things that can leave you feeling better temporarily for the next day or so but wouldn’t be able to get you out of chronic pain.

Tyler has a great blend of those important hands on skills but also the deep anatomical knowledge and a big list of correct drills and activities to help maintain the benefits you got from your massage or training session. I would also recommend you ask him about the custom orthotic molding’s that he recently started offering. This can be a game changer to help accelerate our body’s natural healing process and get back to the activities most important to you.

Tyler has been a total game-changer for me. When I started working with him just over a year ago, I was dealing with persistent neck, shoulder, and hip pain that never seemed to go away. After a serious accident a few years back, I always felt like my body wasn’t working the way it should anymore. Tyler completely changed that.

What’s most impressive about Tyler is how much he knows and how expertly he combines techniques. Among many other things, he incorporates massage, soft tissue work, strength training, breathing, recovery, and proper equipment use. He figured out exactly what worked for me and focused on my goals with me, including being able to properly use equipment in the gym and at home to supplement training sessions.

I found this Personal Trainer through google reviews. He was one of the highest in the area. I have been going to train there for over a year. Without a doubt, one of the best moves I have ever made. Not only does Tyler work with you on areas of concerns, he pushes you just enough to be better every visit. Watching areas that are weak and then focusing on them to make them stronger. Tyler is a miracle worker.
I don’t often leave reviews but I’m living pain free for the first time in 14 years. I had a back injury at 12-13 years old. At 25 my back was in constant pain. Possibly also due to workplace strain. I found Tyler while I was searching for Functional PTs in my area. I had been experiencing chronic pain from autoimmunity and was seeing a traditional PT with slow results when decided I needed to do something differently.

Tyler has a multifaceted approach to movement includes manual massage, interesting breathing/postural exercises, & various traditional exercises.

The breathing/PRI exercises are surprising effective and seem to help clam the nervous system & reduce symptoms. When we started pairing more PRI exercises with the manual massage work to relax certain muscles I saw my symptoms start to steadily improve. Working with Tyler has also helped me learn better awareness of my body when I am working, driving, etc so I don't antagonize any injuries.

Tyler is great! I’ve been going to him now for about 9 months. My core is so much stronger and I am able to pick things up much easier. I could never get up the motivation to do exercises at home though I thought about doing them yet there was always an excuse in my head why I couldn’t do it. Lol. Tyler monitors my workouts and even counts the reps so I only have to focus on the exercise he’s giving me. I really like the massage before the workout as he works out the kinks and loosens the stiff muscles. And with the workouts, they are different each week. He tailors them to your specific needs each week. You won’t get stuck doing say kettle bells every week. I highly recommend Tyler!

I've known Tyler for a number of years both as a friend and as a trainer/coach. He helped me achieve my success during my last two physique competitions by handling my routines and diet. But it has been his help and guidance when it comes to mechanics and form that has had the most significant long term impact on me. Tyler was able to identify some small but key issues in my squat form that was both hurting my numbers, but also potentially leading to injury. Over the course of a few weeks, we broke the movement down to its fundamentals before building it back up. I am no power lifter, but on a few occasions when I squatted 565lbs or more it is in part thanks to that time spent with Tyler (and that is just one example of many). I started working with Tyler late in 2019 and worked with him for about 4 months or so. Initial sessions were great with starting from the basics to get comfortable with different types of workouts, and eventually went into full routines, with each week adding something new by building on other exercises.

He had a pretty flexible schedule and was able to work with me even though I would sometimes get out of work at varying times each week.

Whenever I would be doing exercises in which would result in any discomfort, he also corrected the motions which would almost instantly take away the problem.

Overall, he was a very knowledgeable trainer and I would recommend him if you are looking to start or get back into working out!

I can’t say enough good things about Tyler and Transitional Movement. I found Tyler when I was at a bit of a low point. I’m a former competitive cyclist and nordic skier who has always been somewhat athletic but in Dec 2016 I injured my back weight lifting and went through about 2-3 years of hell. I was in pain and out of shape and afraid to exercise because every time I did it would set me back another 2-4 weeks of recovery. I was depressed as my outlet was exercise and had gained weight on top of everything. After a few years of working with a physical therapist and considerable rest my back was at least manageable but I wasn’t anywhere near where I wanted to be fitness wise as my back still very much held me back. It was then I decided to get a personal trainer and lucked out finding Tyler. Upon meeting he did a very thorough functional movement assessment (noticing specific things right away) and talked extensively about my goals. My instinct would have been to just hit the gym hard as hell from day one. Tyler was much smarter than me and helped me work on all my weak spots, building me up gradually, increasing stabilization and regaining mobility.
