I did not have a great experience and wanted to explain it here, after trying to contact management and being told I had no other options, with the hope that maybe someone can help me know who I can contact to resolve this issue.

Our family travels the country, so we joined the Greenville location hopeful to be in town for a year, but knowing that may not be the case. We signed a contract for the family plan for one year, and our kids LOVED the childcare workers, and we really loved the gym and what it had to offer.

When we found out about our relocation for the coming year (we had been members for about 3 months at this point), I reached out to Jalair who signed us up. He confirmed in writing he could cancel our membership even though the year was not up, and when we were back in town we could reinstate easily. We left the state in January and I was charged February for a new month. I reached out via email, was assured it was a mistake and could be reversed, but they would need by original card number. Since it was my husbands and we were not together at the time of the call, I called back. I left a voicemail, but never received a return call. I was charged every month following from March- July, paying a total of $1112 in gym membership fees for a gym membership we couldn't use and had been told would be cancelled. I continued reaching out during this time but was always sent to voicemail, and could not go in person due to being far out of state. I finally received a response from Jalair in July saying he couldn't refund the total amount I had been paying, though his communication said otherwise and I had reached out with no one attempting to return my calls. He said it was out of his hands, but he would request a refund. He refunded 2 months of payment. I maintained a polite discourse, but told him it felt extremely dishonest and intentional that my calls were not returned, making me believe the gym could continue to withdraw money from my account by simply ignoring my communication. On top of the call, he told me I'd have to send proof of my out of state address to qualify for the refund (also not mentioned in the communication about cancelling).

I'd like to believe the best about him, but he wasn't really very helpful, acted contrary to his statements in writing that our membership would be cancelled, and when I asked if there was someone above him I could speak to, he wouldn't share any additional information. I'm really at a loss as to what else to do. If anyone has a suggestion about how our family can recoup this money that was taken from our accounts, I would love advice and counsel.

It really is a shame, because we loved our experience AT the gym, but I'm extremely taken back that we were taken advantage of in this way, especially when we went through all the proper channels and have communications proving the things I've mentioned above.

The trainers here are excellent and front line staff is high quality, management however is completely unresponsive. If you don't play tennis/pickleball (courts are amazing) I can't recommend it. The weight equipment is outdated and frequently out of service. Lines to use the equipment they do have are long during peak times. The membership is over $100/month on a one year contract. Guest visits costs $16 each visit. If you don't need a trainer and don't play racquet sports a $30 Crunch membership will get you much newer equipment, no contract and no guest fees.

Took my son to play tennis on Father’s Day, and they had nobody working at the tennis center for all of Sunday to sign up their own ACAC members to play (despite a full house of players playing), so we weren’t allowed to play. Disappointing considering the weekend is prime time for tennis.

I've been a member of Sportsclub now ACAC for a while, but lately, it’s been hard to ignore some of the growing issues. First off, the monthly rate recently increased, and for the price, I expected better quality and service, especially with the equipment. Unfortunately, they haven’t been updating or replacing equipment in a meaningful way. When they do get new machines, they're often not up to standard, and several of the newer additions have broken down quickly. Even worse, the repairs don’t always seem to be done properly, leaving machines out of order for extended periods.

For the price they’re charging, I really expected more investment in keeping the gym in top shape. I hope ACAC addresses these issues soon because, right now, it’s hard to justify the membership cost with all these ongoing problems.

I’ve been a member for 10 months and cannot recommend this gym. It’s overpriced, classes are not conducive to a 8-5 work schedule. Barely any lunch time classes and you can either visit the gym at 5am or 6pm. The bulk of the variety of classes are from 8:30-10:30am so perfect for a stay at home mom. Only one swimmers pool, second pool at Greenville location is warm so not ideal for laps. I’ve made the best of the situation for 10 months but I needed to downgrade my membership because I’m paying for a family membership and I’m the only one who actually visits the gym and I was told I couldn’t make any changes until my contract is over in 2 months. No gym is perfect but they could’ve downgraded my membership for these last 2 months and made me happy and kept me as a member but all that matters to them is money.

I’ve been an off and on member here and was a former employee for this place since 2014. Love this gym and the people that work there. Unfortunately this morning I had the “pleasure” of speaking to Lori at the front desk. She was the rudest person I’ve ever encountered there. It’s 530am so it’s not like they are busy and she had the worst attitude and clearly didn’t want to help me. She kept telling me to wait to come in at 8am (because she didn’t want to help me) and so I kept pressing her and come to find out she had the information I was looking for. What could have been a very simple experience of Lori assisting the customer, turned into me having to basically beg her to help me. Can’t wait to see them at 8!!

UPDATE: THIS GYM HAS FALLEN COMPLETELY OFF. As many years of coming to sportsclub(over 10 years) and never thought I be saying this but don’t get membership here. If anything get it for 5 forks location. For the price your paying you’ll be very disappointed in the end with pretty much everything about the place and it’s heartbreaking. New management will destroy this place and will probably be condos here shortly. So sad but it is what it is…..

My friend and I went to this Sportsclub today and I’ve never in my life dealt with such lack of professionalism. We had been going back and forth with a membership team member, Jalair Leamon. He flat out lied to us. There is a 3 day pass for prospective members, as it still shows on their website, currently. We were not given that as promised online and throughout our emails. He told us to come in and he would gladly accommodate us like advertised on the email. We were told that Jalair was not there, and that even though I had evidence from their “membership” representative; we both could not use the 3 day pass. We were told we could pay $50 for a one time daily pass. The lady at the front desk and the general manager made zero effort to make things right, after showing evidence of the emails that have been going back and forth. If you’re considering a membership, just know that you will be lied to about everything (mainly including the free trial and any membership costs). Everything cost more than they tell you, and it is extremely difficult to communicate with this complex. You will be thrown around to multiple different people, who will all tell you something different. And be ready to experience the worst customer service one could ever imagine. I don’t do google reviews, but this was unlike any organization that I’ve tried to do business with in any way.

I been going for awhile now probably 5 years. They close way to early and instead of extending the hours they reduced them!! To be honest it was amazing at first but, slowly they seem to never update/ or clean anything. The Steam room mold. The sauna stinks. The pool outdated. Half a basketball court come on. It took 5+ years to get some equipment its not very nice. If they could simply update and realize its close to 2025 & not the 80s and charge a price for outdated stuff. They'd be great 100% better but for now this is a honest review of Sportsclub Congaree!!! Now Five forks is updated and a way better experience. Go there instead!

It amazes me the cost of this gym…and to use all three locations it’s even more. Sauna is constantly broken, water fountains all have luke warm water which isn’t refreshing at all when you’re working out, never any workout mats or steps upstairs, and locker room always smells musty and showers are beyond gross…and no towel service anymore…sick of businesses blaming Covid on why things never go back to normal…which for the price I pay to go there would be nice when you forget yours at home.

Membership here for over a year. I likely pay way too much given the quality of equipment. But what has really put a bad taste in my mouth is their refusal to reintroduce towels post covid for borrowing for the sauna/ steam room/ showers. Yea, it’s a small detail, but when you forget your towel at home you’d hope the gym you pay so much for per month would have towels available. I normally enjoy this club but have recently noticed changes with the staffing behavior. I walked in today to the two front desk workers not even acknowledging me. First off, the staff are helpful and nice. I got a 3-day pass and am thinking of joining. The only things I don't like is that people playing basketball in the evening are very distracting, loud. Not conducive to keeping focused on your workout. The second thing is their Lifecycle upright bikes are very old, creaky and just don't work correctly.

Aside from those things, the club seems well maintained for its age. It could use a few updates for aesthetics, but for a gym it's fine.

I'm up in the air about joining this one. I think maybe it caters more towards the younger crowds.

This is one of the few commercial gyms where you’ll find competition Ohio power bars by rogue. Some of the equipment is a little dated, but all in all it’s a solid gym for most everyone.

I'm a new member. When I came in to inquire about a membership I was greeted at the front desk by Susan. She was friendly & helped me get to an employee who dealt with memberships. The person I met with had no enthusiasm, seed bothered by me being there, & didn't give me a full tour. I had to ask where the restrooms & free weight rooms were. I bought a membership so that I could workout & attend some fitness classes, even though it's more than I wanted to spend. I attended only one class. I wasn't told I needed to bring my own mat to the classes so it made it difficult to fully engage. I haven't purchased one yet so I can't say anything on the other classes as I've not participated in them. I like the equipment in the gym & the location. Parking is decent.

I used to work in fitness centers & we always made it a point to say hello & goodbye to our members & to get to know them by name. Make them feel welcome & to offer excellent customer service. If that's the type of gym you're looking for, this isn't it!

This is a great gym for the entire family! Awesome amenities from men and women's saunas and steam rooms to a great saltwater pool and jacuzzi!
