Tough conditions at Arthur Hills course today. Didn’t know it was CPO until we got there. On #9 the maintenance guy pulled out to the tee, stopped and one person hit and then as I was addressing my ball he just took off DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE FAIRWAY right in front of me…..what happened to CPO? Then he turned the irrigation on and we wait again with nobody behind us. Greens were extremely poor…..large dead spots and the person cutting holes needs a little more training. Driving range was basically green sand. I’d save the $170. Way over priced.

My wife and I had a great "group" lesson with Edward Sites this week at Palmetto Dunes/Arthur Hills. It was cold and wet so only the two of us signed up. Edward did a great job of breaking down the basics and helping us hit more consistently. Love Hilton Head - just wish we had seen the sun while there. -Kenny

Just wanted to give a big shout out to Ed Brill for the great hospitality. I was down there for a tournament and his advice and instruction helped very much during the tournament not to mention on my game overall. I would highly recommend going down to Palmetto dunes and seeing Ed for anything you might need. I truly appreciate all the effort and hospitality that I received and will definitely be visiting again. Thanks again Ed and Palmetto dunes!

I planned & booked a 12 person golf trip with the help of Becky DeRose at PD, she was very accommodating. Our golf trip included rounds at RTJ & Arthur Hills. Both were in great shape (10/24 & 10/25).

Edward Sires in the club house made the day at Hills extra special as someone (Me!! LOL) got a hole in one on hole #8. Got me a flag that our group signed and took a photo, very memorable for my first hole in 1.

For a tee sheet being stacked the pace of play was good - lots of cart Marshall’s - and beer cart girls several times.

RTJ w/ the top tracer range is a nice touch before your round. Quick service as we got a couple of buckets of beers & food before our tee time. Shelly was great at Top Tracer.

Mario at the bar in the clubhouse was great. Easily accommodating our hole in 1 celebration at the end of the round.

Lots of wind at RTJ front 9 in your face. Be ready to club up.

Unlike at Robert Trent Jones course, I did not find any friendly or courteous pro here at Arthur Hill. Even the Starter just pointed in the direction of the First Tee and I assumed the rest. Water channels were great and challenging. A couple of greens in distress. Not worth $165 (I didn't mind paying $175 at Trent Jones).

Arthur Hills Golf Course is absolutely beautiful — a true gem for any golf lover. The layout is both scenic and challenging, with rolling fairways and breathtaking views throughout the round. The course was in fantastic condition from tee to green. Speaking of greens, they were fast and tricky — definitely kept us on our toes, but in a good way!

We rented clubs and ended up going with the men’s set, as the women’s clubs were quite outdated and tough to play with. The men’s set was in good shape and worked out great for our round.

Overall, a memorable experience on a stunning course. Highly recommend playing here if you're in the area!

Coming from Ohio where we have a bunch of Arthur Hills architecture, I couldn’t miss out on playing at one out of state. The course was in fantastic shape and has a memorable course layout with a lot interesting golf architecture. The course isn’t overwhelmingly long, but when you are out of position or have a funky lie on the rolling contoured fairways, it’s a great challenge!

Greens in bad shape. Multiple defects/bare spots. Signage confusing as to path to next tee on multiple holes. Water in cart and stations not available. Snack shop closed on Sunday afternoon.Staff pleasant but for $175 not a good value.
Layout is challenging but fair.

Loved this course, great layout and well kept. I didn’t like that one of the maintenance guys seemed to follow us holes 3-9 with a really loud blower clearing the cart path of debris. He didn’t turn it off at any point, just lingered behind us which was annoying and distracting…I am mentally weak and need quiet. The rangers and beer cart lady were possibly the most pleasant people living . Most importantly for this review…Great course!

Don’t bother. Practice facility’s closed, they changed the course on us with out telling me. Offered no discount for all the closures and terrible communication. We left and didn’t even bother. Luckily I got a refund. There are over 30 golf courses in HH, I’ll be looking elsewhere.

Spent time with George working short game and Doug on overall swing, both were expectional instructors. Each having their own style but being adaptive enough to identify your skill level and make the most of your time. Doug's videos taken on your own device are a nice take away reference when you work on your game elsewhere.
I was able to take many things away from my experience and will be returning for further instruction.

Our group golf lesson with Ed Brill was excellent. We had a group of four at varying levels of beginner play. Ed’s class was very informative. He provided simple instructions, drills, and easy to remember swing skills. He worked with each of us individually patiently offering tips and feedback. The class was low key and fun. I highly recommend Ed and the clinics at Arthur Hills.

My recent golf lesson at Palmetto Dunes was incredibly beneficial for my swing, particularly focusing on improving key elements like shoulder tilt, rotation, and timing. Edward Sires did a fantastic job of breaking down the complex movements into understandable steps and provided a variety of excellent drills to help engrain the proper mechanics.
The drills were particularly effective in developing more consistent shoulder tilt during the backswing, which helped keep the club on a better plane. Also, the lesson provided a much better understanding of how the body's rotation should synchronize with the arm swing, leading to a more powerful and accurate swing. Edward’s guidance on timing the release of the club resulted in more solid contact and increased distance.
Overall, the lesson significantly improved my swing and provided practical drills to reinforce the improved technique. Edward is a very low pressure coach and highly recommended for anyone looking to refine their swing and enhance their overall game.

No problem at all with the golf course very good shape and very fun. Although we played after a lot of rain and the course should’ve probably been closed because it was pretty much standing water everywhere. I assume it’s open to collect money on days like that which is understandabl. The two star deduction is because of the Pro Shop and cart folks. Pay your fee…. Here is your cart….. Go play golf. You are on your own….no instructions whatsoever. Tee time were two slots behind.

The course was in good shape and the layout was fun & challenging. A couple comments ...

Played the Hills course on 6/8 and wasn’t thrilled with the condition of the course. We knew ahead of time it was aerated recently but so are all the courses in the area, none of which had the amount of diseased/dead grass that this course had. We paid a premium to play at PD but the greens elsewhere were amazingly better than what we found here. The layout itself at Hills might be my favorite on the entire island (especially the back 9) but aerated greens doesn’t explain the dead/diseased areas. Have honestly had similar experiences at all the PD courses over the years, premium pricing for lackluster customer service, sometimes rude employees, and premium pricing that just has never justified the costs.

We liked the course but there was a group in front of us that apparently play golf once a year. They were painfully slow, and no one (Ranger?) encouraged them to pick up the pace or let us through. The greens had recently been aerated and they were in really bad condition. In all fairness, we were told about this and apparently the green fees were reduced.
We liked the layout. If you don't break 100 you may want to select another course to play. You will have more fun.
We want to play again when the course is in better condition.

Played yesterday morning. Staff was awesome, one of the cart attendants Ray was awesome! He Asked my 7 year old a ton of questions, got him super excited, and even let him grab a few balls from their grab bag for him to play with. Check in was simple, starter was great….course condition for the middle of June was another story. Greens were a bit rough, lots of bare/dead spots, seems like the roots won’t take. Tee boxes seems like they were having issues getting the grass to take root…pretty sandy. But the course lay out was great, fun and challenging all at the same time. Pace of play was under 4 hours. Would have loved to play it in prime condition. But for the price, the course could have been in much better shape. I would come back if the course was in great shape and it would make sense for the price we paid.

Very disappointed with the condition of this course. I enjoyed the layout of the course, but these were by far the worst greens I’ve played on anywhere all year. They were extremely bumpy, covered in dead spots, and painfully slow. The fairways had some rough areas as well. For the price of the green fee, I would not recommend this course to anyone in its current condition.

I play a LOT of golf. Was on a HH golf trip and played here on May 2nd.
Waiting until now to review just so I can compared to the 11 other resorts I visited and played in the month of May. ( from Arcadia Bluffs, to Disney World )

The Arthur Hills course was fun at least the golf part. 5:45 round with two scratch golfers, it was an extremely slow round. The price point unless you get a discount this is no where near worth $230.

Here is where it gets bad, a staff member told us he needed our cart for a different group 10min before we hit the first tee ( we were on the putting green ).
A few moments went by, the starter comes calling for us. Yelling that we are late to the tee box and need to be on deck. I informed him that our cart was taken for a different group and that we were told to wait here and they would bring a new cart.
18 mins later a cart came, what a joke.
Saw the beverage cart on hole 2, she informed us she was not feeling well and was going home, they had no replacement for her. This was a Saturday afternoon mind you.
Course was fun, staff sucked, value for what you get was not there

Ed did a great job with his tips and techniques on how to improve focus, grip, stance, swing and follow through. He reinforced the goal of “practicing with a purpose” when on the range and don’t just “Rak & hit” countless ball. We enjoyed ourselves took away a few tips that will hopefully improve our game. $200 a person for essentially dead greens, poorly maintained gold & green tee boxes and medicore fairways. I understand A Hills aeration is tomorrow and would have been ok if the green fees were consistent with a course in poor condition ready to be repaired. Not given this option. The RTJ course is in great condition & throughly enjoy playing there Sunday. Pro shop person professional and nice, restaurant staff very nice and helpful, lots of womens clothes. We were drawn to the Palmetto Dunes Golf Academy after viewing three very short video clips featuring Doug Weaver on the website. In just a few minutes of viewing we picked up not only practical kernels of “golf wisdom”– but most importantly, a sense that their instruction would be well formulated for mid-level golfers like us. We don’t need someone to break down every aspect the golf swing and overwhelm us with verbal “expertise.” Rather we desire simplistic instruction that is immediately transferable, basic core understandings, and importantly, simple practice advice to take away as we seek to develop new and better habits on the course.

Our chipping lesson with George this morning did NOT disappoint and hit all of these desired outcomes. In just 50 minutes, we walked away with clear and only the essential elements to be more confident and consistent around the green. George’s instruction reflected Doug’s teaching style and amplified the witty pearls of wisdom we were drawn to in the web site videos. “Which would you rather trust – your own athletic ability or gravity? Let the equipment (the angle of the club ) do the work. Golf is math!” If I had 10 thumbs they would all be up for George and our overall experience at PDGA. It truly was enjoyable. Thank you!

Played in the end of march. For $200/person I found the course in average shape. The rough had little grass. Mostly hard soil. Maybe as the season picks up the grass will grow in. But not worth the price. Curious to play the other course in Palmetto Dunes.

Have to go back roads to get to course, while leaving the woman working the gate opened it and then said it was a $1000 dollar fine if we exited through that gate. After we asked how to leave she told us “that’s not my job”. No one should have to worry about getting a fine for leaving a golf course that cost $250 a round. Do not recommend going there, there are much better courses for the price in the area.

Played a round at Arthur Hills in Palmetto Dunes last week. The course challenged everyone in our group and was in wonderful shape. The staff treated us very well and took great care of us. We followed the round with a fabulous dinner at Alexander’s in Palmetto Dunes which capped off an outstanding experience.

Course is in great shape. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers all in good condition for winter. Fairways are nice and green and very playable. Beautiful white sand bunkers you can "splash" out of. Greens rolling fast and true, just slightly bumby. Staff welcoming and helpful. As you can see in the picture, be mindful of wildlife!

Attended the full swing clinic with Ed Brill. Only 3 students participated in the 50 minute clinic so we all got a fair amount of personal attention. For me - I have a hi handicap. I have a tendency to push/slice most shots. With Eds help, I am working to keep my back swing under control. As a result, I am now hitting straighter shots with less effort. I can now hit a draw off of a tee with an iron, something I could never (ever)do before. Obviously I am not there yet. I still have a lot of work to do but with Eds help I think I know what a good swing feels like now.

The course is over priced for what you get. I don't think anyone repaired divots on the greens. Some of the tee boxes were small. There was no starter. We watched a group tee off in front of us, at least 2 or 3 took ,two balls off the tee. The fairways were in good shape. The course is nothing to get excited about.

For the price, the greens were in HORRIBLE shape. I understand the time of year is limiting, but you wouldn't think that paying nearly $200 for a round in the last week of September would yield such bad greens. Great course though.

Played George Fazio yesterday and really enjoyed it. Expecting similar for Arthur Hills but was surprisingly disappointed. Pro shop staff was friendly and nice, cart guy was rude and unhelpful, basically barked at us “have you paid for your range balls” when we were not looking for balls and they would have been free for a multiple day booking. Starter ignored us and basically just pointed at the screen in the cart and said “use this for your info” , then silence. So I asked are we good to go as we were only two and we knew there were two other golfers coming. Then he says “well go if you want to play quick “. So the start was not ideal. Course was nice, a few spots on greens that could be improved. So preferred Fazio, playing Trent Jones tomorrow, but would not do Arthur Hills again.

We played Arthur Hills and the course was in good shape and challenging due to a lot of hilly lies, tree branches over the fairways and the course layout but the low rating is because I’ve never visited a course with less hospitality. From our checkin at the proshop, interaction with the rudest course ranger I’ve ever met and finally the individual who accepted our carts, the staff needs extensive hospitality training. There are a lot of options in Hilton Head and I have no desire to ever return to Arthur Hills.

I lost my ball marker on a golf outing last week. I wanted to replace it because it was a great memory of an amazing trip to Hilton Head with my son earlier this year. I called pro shop and spoke to Edward Sires asking if I could buy one online or suggestions on how to replace it. He agreed to help me. I bought a new one and he helped ship it to me. He even paid for shipping! I’ll be sending him something back for his unbelievable service he provided me.
Very thankful for his time and attention to service.

The course itself was a fun layout and in good shape… For the negatives- Our battery operated golf cart died on the 16th hole and we were forced to walk the rest of the round. In most cases one would call the clubhouse in this situation. Why couldn’t we, you ask? With a 2:30 tee time, the staff was eager to shut down the clubhouse and go home at 6pm… So the calls for help went to voicemail. I actually saw a staff member nearly sprinting with his car with a backpack on. No need to help customers still on the course!

Additionally, they had a “charity” golf hole where you donate cash for coupons/balls and a chance for a hole-in-one prize… Sounds great, right? Well, [again] the clubhouse where the coupons were valid for your donation closed before the round ended.. We were unable to use those without taking a 30 minute drive back the following day.

For $315, my cart shouldn’t die and there should be staffing to completion of my round. If you’re so short on staff, take the guy away trying to swindle people out of cash on the par 3s and put him in the clubhouse. It’s really quite embarrassing to charge the prices you do without adequate staff and carts that work.

The hotel is tired and old. I paid over $1K a night for an oceanfront view and I could not see the ocean. It was covered by trees, I could see the bar, and the roof of a shed. I could see the pool. I was concerned my room would be noisy but it was dead as the pool bar closed at 6PM. My room was spacious, but the bathrooms were cramped and there was no counter space to out on make up. They could have made the master a foot shorter to make the bathroom bigger and I would not have noticed it in the bedroom, it was so big.
I did complain about my view. I was on floor two and should have been higher but they wanted me to pack everything to move me when I wasn’t there. I couldn’t do that since I had groceries, etc.
And there are stairs everywhere so good luck dragging suitcases, golf clubs, rolling ice chest.
My room was quiet and I kept the sliding doors open at night.

Course layout is awesome. Really enjoyed the course and it’s pretty challenging. A couple of smaller complaints. First the greens are VERY slow, need to roll those. And for some reason google takes you to the wrong entrance and you have to turn around and go to a different entrance. Not sure if that can be fixed or not but an odd problem to have.

Resort Golf can be interesting. We arrived for our 8 am tee time, hoping the course wasn’t full of slow players. We were alerted that a group of eight guys were out a couple groups in front of us, and came directly from an all night party. Imagine our concern. But the starter who was aware alerted the marshal. We started out a little slow but were thrilled to have Joe as marshal, he apparently kept the course moving great. We played in about 4 hours, and were pleasantly surprised to be honest. Had to thank Joe for doing a great job!
