This used to be our βgo-toβ because of the convenience of the location, but after plunking down the annual fee today for βFriends of Beachwoodβ I can say we will not be back, and the money lost will be a good reminder of the negative experiences the last few times there. Today the starter moved a group with time behind us and paired them with group in front of us and when it looked as though we were going to be at least 1/2 hour late on our booked tee time we left. I just did not have 6 hours to spend there today or ever again!

Omg!!! Booked online 11:30 am $67 for 18 holes.
By 2:30 I was on the 11th hole and ready to kill.
Too crowded - course is not that pretty to demand that price- Between waiting on the large SLOW golf parties and dogging the maintenance crew I quit on hole 13. Never again

Had a really REALLY great time overall !! Staff were friendly from the minute I arrived the starter were friendly , polite , in the clubhouse to check in the clerk were very professional . I read reviews about the course and peace of play but am here to say I play the fastest round EVER under 4 hours hence I was a single and had an EARLY tee time .. the course was in great conditions , very friendly course and greens were in great shape , I canβt wait to play here again !!!

We arrived early for our tee time, but there were no carts available. It was me and my cousin, who has a prosthetic leg, and instead of showing any empathy or flexibility, we spent several minutes being told where we couldnβt drive carts. That meant, I had to carry both bags to the driving range and carry back. Also, my disabled companion had to walk both ways as well.
Seeing someone with a prosthetic, I wouldβve expected a little more courtesy and accommodation. We teed off about 10 minutes late because a group of 16 had been sent off ahead of us β understandable at first β but the round turned into a three-hour front nine. If the club decides to let a large group go off, I feel they owe it to their other patrons to keep them on pace. However, under the making of a 6 hour round, we instead decided to stop after 9 holes.
When I mentioned the slow pace to the clubhouse, the response was simply, βWe had a large group out there today.β It felt apathetic and summed up the entire experience β indifferent service from start to finish. Certainly were great at enforcing where carts could not be driven, but not so great at keeping the course on pace.
Disappointing overall. With a little more awareness and hospitality, this could have been a completely different day.

Golf course was in decent condition but Iβd recommend planning your vacation golf elsewhere.
We arrived early for our morning tee times and were greeted by a rude gentleman working the front desk. We had two groups of 3 who play quick rounds and the starter insisted we tee into our first group on the first hole. Iβve never experienced that on a course before unprovoked and being early to our start times.
At the turn we grabbed pre-prepared sandwiches and the front desk guy came out and said our first group needed to get to hole 10 asap. We were moving quickly so again unprovoked. Decent greens, terrible costumer service.

Based on some of the reviews, I expected the course to be in worse condition. Outside of some re-sodded areas, the course was in pretty good condition. Iβm used to playing resort golf at really nice courses. This is half the price, and I would say more than half the value.
Although it was a 4.5 hour round, a little rough. We were a 3 some, I think 3rd out and constantly waiting on the tee. I did see the ranger cruising around, so I assume they were trying to keep the pace up.
Overall, Iβd play here again.
Oh and they have a grass driving range. Not hitting into a net, and not off mats. Nice.

The course was a little rough. It is late summer and I expected to see better greens and tee boxes. All have heavy signs of crabgrass. Some of the fairways and most of the tee box front launch areas were simply terrible. Looked like rough green seas. I was disappointed and not impressed.

Had a really great time playing decided to go with this course as it was half the price of the top end we were considering. Glad that we did. We started before 7 AM and got done just over four hours. We were the second to tee off. Then there was split teatime so Folk started on the back nine mid morning and the course was filled up yet it moved quick enough.
The staff was great. The course was in good condition. The greens rolled good. The sand bunkers were an excellent condition and had been maintenance the morning of. Overall, just an excellent experience. I can see why some people would rate it low based on frustration of pace of play alone, but I say Book with confidence that you will get to play some golf.

Played a week ago. Grossly oversold early morning tee times. Started us 20 minutes late. Range isn't open until 10:30a, got there early to hit and just sat there waiting. 5.5 hour round. No ranger in sight because they were playing a round a few holes behind us. Spend a little more and playa better course in MB

Iβd like to preface this review as coming from someone who works at a golf course, plays over 100 times a year, and is not too picky with what courses I play.
On Monday, we played a warmup round for the week. The course was in subpar shape, with torn up fairways and neglected areas. When we returned on Tuesday just looking to hit the range, the course seemed to be getting repaired. I asked if the entire course was under repair, simply curious if we could sneak a 9 in, and the response I got was insanely rude. βItβs all or nothing. You canβt have half open.β Given that Iβve played courses this month with a few holes closed and temporary tee boxes, I know that you can work around it. Even if the course canβt work around it, a nicer response wouldβve been appreciated.
After hitting the range, we were sprayed on the putting green by water, ruining the glove on my bag. However, I honestly am grateful, as the grounds crew informed us that the rest of the sprinklers were set to hit us, giving us time to move away. It wouldβve been nice for the pro shop to inform us of this. Finally, at 5:15, when I returned to the pro shop to grab another bucket and also lodge my complaint, it was closed-nearly 3 hours before their advertised time.
If youβre in Myrtle, I would avoid Beachwood at all costs. Even at the low price, Iβd rather enjoy a night on the town than get treated like I was below the staff.

This review is mainly about the staff and customer treatment, since we didn't get to play the course. This was due to the fact that the course not only overbooked the course, but chose to put a 15+ tournament group directly in front of our tee time (in the middle of the day, on a Friday!). Additionally, when we arrived to check in, the pro shop informed us they had just aerated and sanded the greens (not divulged when we booked the PRE PAID tee time)!! Considering all of this, we asked to cancel the time and just go somewhere else. The staff was non apologetic and were fairly curt about the whole thing. They did not give us our pre paid money back and simply directed us to the website we booked the time on. Poor customer service. I don't think I will ever understand some staff at golf courses being so rude and miserable. This is not to mention mismanaging their inventory of tee times. Even if we did choose to play that day, it would have been a terrible experience with the greens, overbooking and tournament group slowing things to a snail's pace. I know this course has been there for eons. You would think they would handle things a little better.

Great course! Top quality in all aspects and open enough that beginning golfers can still get around the track with a reasonable good time. The staff is really friendly however the pace of play is horrendous. Probably because it's a vacation course and all skill levels are welcomed and may e because the staff is so friendly; but it was super packed and a 1pm tee time led to a round that ended at 6pm. From what I've seen later tee times play much faster.

I had a fantastic time at Beachwood Golf Club. I was in North Myrtle Beach for two months, and I took out the monthly driving range membership, which is really great. It provides you with a lot of balls for the range, access to the practice greens, both chipping and putting, and very affordable golf rates after 3 pm. The course is challenging and tight, with quite a few doglegs that really force you to strategize right from the tee. And everyone who works and plays at the club is fantastic. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed the course...however the squirrels are very agressive! They climbed onto our golf cart several times looking for food even though we had nothing! We kept chasing them away but they kept coming back. They snuck up and chewed up all the zippers on the side pockets of my golf bag searching for food while we were putting. I had to buy a new bag that day.
Two days later I was playing with a few friends and the darn squirrels chewed up the zippers on 2 of my friends' golf bags!!
I will not play there again because of those darn squirrels !!!

Many great times have been enjoyed playing Beachwood with my father. The course is great - management needs some work. Firstly, the course is in beautiful shape, they run a nice facility, great customer service in the clubhouse, very friendly. Nice warm up range and beautiful practice green - as perfect as the greens on the course! Course/player management is another story. Specifically related to player overload. We had a tee time for 2:15. We arrived at 1:15, we did not tee off until 3pm. No possible way to finish by sundown with 12 players on every hole with that kind of delay. Not fair to everyone who has paid for 18 holes to have that much traffic allowed on the courses when they KNOW you will not finish your entire round. Not a good way to run a business.

Played Beachwood today, 10/5/24. Iβm a bent grass, north-of-the-Mason-Dixon-line-golf-guy. So course conditions did not feel βgreatβ but by Myrtle Beach standards were very good IMO. Greens were excellent. Smooth and rolled around 9 or 9.5, so not too fast for the average hack while at the same time deliciously paced for the low single digit handicapper (Iβm playing off 0.2 currently). Best greens I saw all week, which included Barefoot (Fazio and Love), Long Bay, and River Hills. As for the accoutrements, pro shop and grille room have everything you need and absolutely nothing more. Practice facilities are more than adequate.

I came here with a group of three after not playing golf in over 25 years. From my first interaction with the staff to my last I got the feeling that they arenβt the most friendly people. One example of this is that It was hot and we decided to buy 9 waters before we started. After the 9th hole we went by the clubhouse to use the restroom. After this, one of the guys in my group opened up a water bottle that was purchased earlier and was stored in a bag on one of our carts. With lightening quick speed the lady working the lunch counter came running out to our carts accusing us of stealing the water bottle. I reminded her that we bought 9 waters at the beginning and the water bottle in question was one of them. She remembered and went back inside. This was the icing on the cake for me probably not playing golf ever again. This place is busy and my review wonβt affect them, but in my opinion being rude is not what golf is all about. If thatβs how golf courses/players are then I will go back to not playing. Beechwood is nice and affordable, itβs a shame that the staff treated us in such a rude manner. I wish them well and hope they are around for many more years to come.

Wanted to hit balls one day so called and specifically asked if the range was open and were they hitting off the grass (vs matts). I spoke with Ronnie and she said that they were hitting off grass so come on. I get there, purchase two tokens, and proceed to the range only to find I couldn't hit off the grass. Went back in to inquire about why I was given bad info and the individual in the pro shop wouldn't look at me. Was planning on playing there the next day but Azalea Sands got my money instead.
I know they're busy and don't really care, but they don't have to be this blatant about it. Take your golf dollars elsewhere, you have MANY other options in North Myrtle Beach.

Great. I loved this course. I came to myrtle to golf. I used used this course as a "warm up" for TPC the next day. This course was not only more challenging in terms of water and hazards, it was in better condition and the staff was friendlier, not that TPC wasn't, but this was more local, friendly type. Anyway, I'm gonna try to walk on and hitn9 before I leave tomorrow morning
Edit: I'm see all the negative reviews about pace of play, it took me 3:15 to play 18 here. This was a 3:30 start time, but if you don't like it, go later in the day for cheaper prices and quicker play

Course was not worth 60 dollars in the morning, would recommend playing elsewhere.

Course overall was alright. Starting staff was friendly and very helpful. Staff inside was not the best at all. Went inside to get food and drinks after 9, and lady behind the counter said they are done serving food an hour early, with no explanation. Was then told βyou can just go get food out of the fridge, itβs fine.β We did grab a sandwich with soggy bread that you could tell has been there for a good amount of time. Fairways were mediocre at best, same with the tee boxes. Can go to much nicer course with the same, if not a cheaper price.

Would give this course a higher rating. The greens were in good shape and putted well. I would give them a 8/10. The fairways and tee boxes had issues in places. Some were good and in good shape. Some were bare and in poor condition. 6/10 for them. My chief complaint is the horrendous pace of play. A course of this layout should not take 4:45 minutes to play 18. No ranger. Starter told us to follow the group ahead of us but to get going because they were squeezing people in. Still teed off 15 minutes behind schedule. Not expected for an early morning tee time. Needless to say I will not come back nor recommend to others.

I played once about a year ago and that experience was the exact same as today if not worse due to the ranger guy being disrespectful and saying a racial slur. He wont there this time which was good. Also, wanted to give it a second chance today before leaving review. It will be our family's last time going back.
Being a local in MB and having played many other courses here, I take a lot of circumstances and things into consideration before my final thoughts on the course. (Weather, holidays, etc.).
I agree with what Phillip said in his review. POOR tee time management. Sling shot effect the whole time. Waiting, rushing, people hitting into fairways while others or yourself are putting or sometimes still hitting.
Greens are in good condition and the layout is nice. Price is okay, not too challenging distance wise. I recommend trying out Azalea Sands right next door for a more enjoyable round. Unfortunately, we wont be going back.

Find a different business to patronize. My family visited today, and after a 30 minute delay for tee time (at no fault of our own) my cousin was told that she needed to play faster, and implied that she should not be playing at their busy time. She was quite upset and chose not to play the other 17 holes but they were unwilling to give her a refund. The only compensation they were willing to give, was a rain check. This was unreasonable because we are visiting from another state and will only be here two more days (with many other family activities planned during that time).
The staff was rude, and uncaring.

I am not happy about the ranger coming out and telling Rev that he can't share my golf clubs which he never plays golf with. The twosome who called us in to say" they are slowing the pace of the place down" they were a whole hole behind us, which is so uncalled-for they need to worry about hitting a fairway before complaining about the pace of play. Literally ruined my day and I told my buddy Cody Threet to cancel his tee time. Should of spent $60 on gambling instead of this.

What a miserable place to play. They have zero management skills and couldnβt care less. We played the front in under two hours teeing off at 7:15. When we made the turn they had FOUR groups sitting at the tee box on 10 waiting. We waited 50 mins to start playing 10. Then we had to wait on every hole after. They have a couple of rangers but they are useless. They drive in the shade and donβt care that the course is backed up. It should never take 5 and a half hours for golf when you tee off at 7:15 in the morning. Now I remember why we havenβt played here since 2022. Save your money and play any other golf course on 17.

I have been coming to Myrtle Beach since 1981 and each year have returned to play the Beachwood golf course. I have enjoyed the experience each time regardless of some of the issues mentioned in reviews. The staff is extremely friendly and Kevin does a great job managing a course that is constantly busy with eager golfers. The course is easily accessible off 17 and offers a good choice of challenging holes. Like any course that has a range of player ability you are going to find those that want to complain. My advice before you make any evaluation, go play it and see for yourself all it has to offer. This comes from a 74 year old 4 handicapper who has played 90 percent of the courses in Myrtle Beach

Best value course on the Grand Strand and can not beat the location in the heart of NMB. Greens are the best they have been in years. One of the largest ranges and practice facilities in the area. Always look forward to a round of golf here.

Beachwood has really come a long way in the last couple years. They have put some money and resources into the course and staff who have done an excellent job with the greens. With public golf courses closing all around the area itβs nice to have a course thatβs not looking to sell to develop and put some money into it. Whether youβre a seasoned pro or a beginner the teaching professional, Trevor Muffley, is fantastic. It will be a slower pace as they are usually fully booked with being one of the only public courses plus it is right in the middle of golf season. If you want to play nine in under an hour go to top golf.

Clearly overbooked for the day and had us start 15 minutes before scheduled tee time. Course marshalls still complained to us about our pace despite having to wait for the group ahead of us on each hole. Advice to management is to not overbook, provide better customer service, and fix the plethora of issues on the course.

Tee times were booked way too close to one another and management was very rude and uncooperative. Cart paths were broken down and fairways were not taken care of. Don't waste your time or money at this makeshift golf course.

Had tee times from 10:30-10:50, workers yelled at us because we didnβt tee off all three groups before 10:50, allowed others to cut us and broke up our pre planned bachelor party golf outing. Rude staff unwilling to work with us. If you have big parties go anywhere but here.

My first time playing here/Myrtle Beach. Itβs a decent course. Greens are faster than they look. In good shape. My only negative is that they pack you in back to back on tee times so you do a lot of waiting. 7 minute tee times isnβt ideal at this course.

If you value your time, forget this course. They over book to the extent there are NO, NO, parking spaces available for course users. Took almost 3 hours to play 9 holes. Paid for 18, and gave up after 9. Workers spoken to readily agreed that the course is commonly over booked. Incredible π©π©

Great shop staff. Super staff. Best golf carts...no GPS with restrictions and the cart flew with great acceleration and speed. Golf cart was best part.
Good placements of hazards. Good distances of tee boxes.
Conditions are pretty bad. Its winter, so hopefully they're way better in the spring. Layout isn't so challenging but as I said very good strategic placement of hazards.
Drove by it at least 75 times on my way to Myrtle Brach over the years finally had the chance to play. Glad I did but I wouldn't go back.

For 80$+ with fees with a cart this course was embarrassing. Underneath the few blades of grass was the hardest ground ive ever played on. Hole 17 had mounds of sod getting ready to be laid downβ¦.. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FAIRWAY!!!! Overall it was better to hit in the rough then fairway. The Tee boxes on every hole were either swinging up hill or down hill or had sand where you stand. Thats right, sand. Save your money and go some where else!!!!

I played here in June 2022 and liked it, so went back in June 2023. Tee boxes and fairways are in great shape; the greens have just been aerated so theyβre a little bumpy but not terrible. This is a fun course for beginner/intermediate/occasional players, mostly straight up with a few fun obstacles.

At first sight the greens were concerning because it has weeds growing up through it. However, it played better than it look. You cannot call these greens in good condition because they are not, unless you just want to play with your friends. Golfers that really care about their game would care about these greens being the way they were. Also, the MAIN problem. We had was the pace of play! It took 6 hours to play 18 holes!!! We had to wait every tee shot!!! Something is not working. We have never had that long of a round, even with slower, waiting courses. The only good thing about our wait was seeing these black squirrels everywhere! They were precious! I think they were getting tired of the waiting too when they were waiting for the fairway to clear to run across the fairway to get nuts! Another good thing was that the course is fairly easy for women and men, which is good. The lady in the restaurant area was really friendly and made sure we was taking care of. I rate her hospitality 10 /10.

As an update... played there again this week and had a great time. It is a little pricey, but if you are taking and kids, make sure to call and get your tee time. They offer a discount for kids, but there's no way to indicate that online. They did it for us when we got there, but if you want to save a step, just call.
From September of 2022....My boys (13 and 17) and I had a great time playing at Beachwood. Weβre decent golfers, but the course is very straight forward with wide fairways. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Weβd definitely play there again.

The greens were in shape and the sand was easy to play out of. The course seemed to be in good condition but most of the holes were cart path only so we walked more with the carts than we would have if we had walked. The main reason for the low rating was the staff. We were told several times to speed up but it is difficult when we have to walk 16 of the 18 holes. We were then told to skip one hole and could not leave there fast enough. A staff member in the clubhouse even spoke badly about our group to one of us, not knowing that he was in our group. It really started our church trip off on a poor note.

Overall a great day at a very nice course. One issue was the lack of a bag drop. I don't play a lot of golf, but I've never been to a course that didn't have one. Didn't see anything on the website in advance to warn me, or explain how it worked. Drove around the parking lot twice, and finally called my playing partner who said someone just drove by and picked up his clubs. "The guy" showed up pretty soon. I handed him my golf bag and stepped back to the car to hand him my small course legal cooler, and he was gone. And, I had no idea where he was talking my clubs, he just assumed I was a regular I guess. Once I found my clubs, the guy at the golf carts told me I HAD to go check in. I explained I had prepaid online, and that my partner had already checked in for us. Cart guy insisted, said I needed a starters ticket. Went inside, guy at register said I didn't need to come in, my buddy had the starters ticket. There was a 3 group backup in front of us for the first two holes, but apparently the Ranger fixed that. Off to a rocky start, but fortunately, the rest of the round went pretty well. Course was in good condition, except for construction on one hole, with a temporary tee box.

Played the course on August 9. The staff was great, the layout is great and the location is great. The condition of the course was not good. The tee boxes are beat up, many were just dirt and weeds. Greens were long, slow and not in good condition. Several greens showed poor mowing with scalped areas. Many fairways are more weeds than grass or have large bare spots. Price was reasonable and atmosphere was good. I was disappointed but overall still enjoyed playing.

Nice public course. Doesnβt feel like itβs right off of the highway after the first hole. The scenery is nice to look at with some challenging obstacles. Well kept course. Club house staff was friendly but everything after that was down hill. The men that ran carts were A-holes for lack of better words. We had fun here. They sell beer and refreshments from a cart. It's convenient to book and not overly expensive. I am not an avid or fancy golfer but I could tell that the greens and fairways are not in top notch condition. The location leaves a bit to be desired with ugly hwy 17 right there in your view on many holes. Perfect for our group of sub par golfers, but not somewhere I would take an avid golfer to.
