Website says the annual fee is charged on the 5th month of your first year but my husband and I got charged on his 3rd month. He cancelled his membership in person in August, got charged in September, called them and was told it's the final month charge (sure whatever) and then got charged again in October and was told if we didn't cancel with the manager it "doesn't count" (the manager in question was NEVER there when he went in person, nor was he ever there when we called) despite being told in August and September that his account was in fact closed, and it doesn't help that my husband somehow didn't have a login for the website as a former member. Was never given a refund and we just cancelled his card and ordered a new one since thats easier than communicating with them about closing a membership. Just a touch more pricey than previous gyms he'd go to and its advertised for more serious gym goers so you would expect it to be cleaner or have more equipment/amenities but my husband complained it was as dirty as other gyms, and he still had to buy numerous things for himself to use because they didn't have it. He'd also regularly mention the usual people who sit at machines and chat for what seems like hours or sitting on their phones hogging it and not doing anything, they'd even bother him and keep him from finishing his own workouts so he would have to leave early.

I have been coming to this gym fir about 8 years. I come after work around 730 am. The past 2 months the music is playing so loud I can't even listen to my headphones. The music being played is only heavy metal with some bad language in the lyrics. The music used to a variety appealing to all ages at the gym. Also this time in the morning the trainers come in with all their clients which leaves it a struggle to get a machine and a decent workout. Many of the people I know who have Bern coming here a while have been expressing their concerns as well. This used to be a more family gym. Not anymore.

If you are looking for a real gym in a convenient location, Bold fits that. It’s not your upper scale place with a spa and a protein shake bar or massage chairs like a planet fitness, but it’s a gym and it serves its purpose. The members are typically friendly and willing to help you if you need it, and the staff are always around during staffed hours either working out or at the front desk. They’re getting a hack squat machine soon, and have recently changed the interior layout to offer more space. It’s a smaller area, but significantly better than PF in my opinion because they are willing to help give you advice to meet those goals should you need it, rather than tear you down for going to failure and calling you a “lunk.” Good people and a gym at a reasonable price.

What would be even nicer is to NOT have the trainers who show up between 4-6AM not monopolize a machine with one client for 30-40 minutes at a time NOT actually training- Instead jaw jacking and playing on their phones and then NEVER wiping down the machines when they move. Not to .entio. watching new gym goers form not being correct because they are distracted on their phones. Horrible example for a trainer.

I do enjoy the equipment but would love to see a hack squat machine. Hope to see more changes coming.

Bold Fitness has been our gym for about 3 years now. We like the convenience and the price. It’s a little dusty around the walls but clean for the most part. The Goose Creek location is the location we use the most. There is plenty of equipment and usually is not crowded.

So thankful for this place during the Covid-19 pandemic. All of the "big" gyms in the area changed hours not accommodating those who work out early in the morning. This place came in and opened doors 1 minute after midnight once the restrictions were lifted.

Very welcoming and helpful employees. The St James location is the red headed step child to the Summerville one as far as equipment goes. But still has everything you would need to work out. Members there have no gym etiquette and don't clean up after themselves. But other than that it is a great gym for a great price.

They keep the temperature at 73 degrees. This is too warm when doing cardio. Extra free weights are kept stacked haphazardly stacked on top of each other. This caused me to drop one of the heavier ones on my leg, causing a large painful bruise. Thw music is kept on a station that plays mostly hiphop. Not enjoyable for most over 40. If you complain to the manager, she goes to the owner with all complaints. I was asked to leave by the owner after going there for more than ten years , because I dared to complain. The manager hrossly overrated the amount that I complained. There was a much friendlier environment under previous management.

The staff is friendly and the monthly cost is cheap, however there are a few issues. Other people who use the gym don't put their weights up, the equipment is dated, and the initial cost is fairly high. If I remember right, it was somewhere around $80. If these issues were fixed I'd definitely recommend the gym, but until then I'll stick to alternatives.

Have been to both locations. Equipment not well maintained in either. A few individuals who act like they own the gym (both locations) and if you ask to work in with them or ask how much longer their set is they are rude and continue to ignore others that need the equipment. The water fountains never seem to work. The staff in Goose Creek is more welcoming than Summerville. Would like to see updated equipment and a little bit more pride in the gym. Has great potential.

I cancelled my membership at bold fitness in August 2015 and moved to upstate SC. In June 2016 Bold fitness started charging my account again. The charges were unwarranted a could be considered fraudulent given my situation. I tried to get in touch with their accounting 14 times and never got an answer or call back even when they told me specific times to call them to call them through their assistant. Eventually they sent me a check for 2/3 the amount they owed me. It look another 2 weeks of trying to get in contact with them(never did) before their gym assistant got annoyed enough to take the situation into their own hand and finally reimburse me. I do not recommended this gym unless you enjoy horrible customer service, and unwarranted charges.
