I’ve been trying to get back into yoga for years, but couldn’t pull the trigger on joining a class again. I’m kind of an introvert and get nervous in group activities. I got a wild hair one day and signed up for Patrick’s Power Hour class. I’m so glad I did! CY is such a welcoming place. All of the teachers are encouraging and each has their own style. I’ve gained strength and flexibility over the past months, but most of all, I’ve found a community! I love this place!

Community Yoga is such a special place. From the moment you walk into the studio, you can feel the love, care, and acceptance that radiate not only from the teachers but from the students, too. No matter your experience level, you’ll feel comfortable and supported within these four walls.

The quality of teaching and the intention behind each class are exceptional — from offering a cool towel to someone who may be struggling, to sharing a high five or words of encouragement, to raising funds for students in need. Every gesture reflects what yoga is truly about: community and connection.

I can’t recommend CY enough. I’ll see you in the studio! 😊

Community Yoga radiates light and love through every class. The studio is full of wonderful people who make each practice feel special. I joined in January 2024 and have been coming weekly ever since! Great prices, amazing teachers, and an even better community!!

An extraordinary yoga experience!
Hanna leads a Mixed level flow.
Her classes start out with a nice warm up prep phase. What follows is a sound, sensible, well planned yoga workout combining flexibility with strengthening, core work with equal parts of balance poses typically moving us along all four compass points of our mats.
Bravo. Well done. Very well done.

I was in town from Florida and dropped in for a yoga class here. There were a lot of studios to choose from and I’m so glad I landed on this one. Patrick was absolutely hilarious and made the class so much fun while still being a great challenging flow. Highly recommend.

Community Yoga is one of the happiest places on earth! It is both a dynamic and vibrant yoga studio, and as indicated in the name, it is also a dynamic and vibrant community of people. Caroline, who owns, directs and teaches, has worked heart and soul to make this place what it is. She has a staff of extremely talented yoga instructors who are all very competent and who are also highly diverse. They teach a variety of practices with each instructor having their own take on emphasis and styling. This makes for an especially rich yoga experience which can be either focused or varied, depending on one's taste. The community aspect flows from the breadth of people that call the studio home. There are hard core power yoga fanatics, but also yin and stretch devotees. On any given day it is possible to find people of all ages, backgrounds, occupations and practice levels. And almost universally, they will smile and say hello. I have learned a lot of yoga at this place, but also have made many good friends and I enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who is either local or just passing through.

Postscript: Eight months on and this is still one of the happiest places on earth! Still enthusiastically recommended!

A great diversity of classes at community yoga, and I prefer the slower unheated variety. I’ve been practicing for a few years but there are a core group of us who keep going to the beginner’s class for the mindful instruction. (There are plenty of power classes, too). Every teacher is welcoming, and no one takes themselves too seriously. If you’re not familiar with the area, it’s in a cool part of town where you can find plenty to do before or after a class.

I started with Community Yoga as a newbie in June and I am so lucky my first yoga studio has been such a wonderful fit. Community Yoga is open and friendly. Shoutout to Grace for walking me through the anxiety of coming for my first class! I like the variety of classes they offer, especially having a wide range of times and types of classes throughout the week. The feature classes are always a hit to try something new. It’s an easy going yoga studio with diverse teachers and clientele. Definitely recommend checking them out!

I really enjoy classes at this studio, truly a community, as they can be tailored to any level of practice or to how I am feeling on this particular day. The teachers are very supportive, it is hard to even name a favorite class! Thank you for giving me an opportunity to practice yoga in such kind, supportive environment!

I never thought I would try a yoga class or join a studio until I took Mandy’s vinyasa flow class. Since joining in April I have enjoyed every class I’ve been to! The Wed and Fri features are super fun, as are the sporadic workshops that are held every month. Carrie’s Vin to Yin class is my absolute favorite - perfect balance of fast and slow. I also really enjoy Caroline’s Power Hour class. The idea of hot yoga has always scared me but the studio space is not claustrophobic or suffocating at all like how some other studios can be.

A yoga studio for EVERYbody…men, women, brand new yogis, intermediate, advanced yogis, young, middle aged or mature ~ all are made to feel welcome, appreciated and comfortable at CommUNITY Yoga!!

As for a previous comment about yogis talking loudly before the class… For the record, I have recently found CY and drive almost 30 min from E. Cooper to practice here and I haven’t (yet ;-) made many connections where I am talking before a class, so I am not coming from a place of defending myself. I, too have been to a lot of yoga studios around the world over a few decades now, as well as doing my yoga teacher training at Asheville Yoga Center over a decade ago where I was schooled that the word yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root yuj, meaning “to yoke,” or “to unite”. I thoroughly enjoy hearing people uniting before and after class and the beautiful energy that comes from that commUNITY.
We all have different preferences and experiences and that’s what I love about yoga is the practice of acceptance and finding inner peace even when the world as one interprets it may seem intrusive, impolite, not respectful, or even not having the proper etiquette.

Thank you Community Yoga (and Caroline :-) for cultivating a special sanctuary where we can feel a part of this sublime commUNITY <3

The best yoga studio in CHS. Community it is and I have become good friends with many people. The other thing that is great about the studio is that there is a range of classes and each instructors have their own style. My favorite class is the 75 minutes power yoga class on Wednesday. I come out both spent and replenish at the same time. My happy place.

We took three classes here over the course of five days. It’s not really hot yoga more like warmish. Worst part was in my twenty years of yoga classes all over the world this is the ONLY studio I’ve been to where prior to class as I’m laying on my mat getting centered everyone in the room is chatting LOUDLY. It’s intrusive, it’s impolite and theses yogis have clearly never been schooled in proper etiquette. Talking is for the lobby not on your mat. I’ve never experienced that. It’s not respectful to other practitioners in the room. Overall their instructors are knowledgeable with some fun sequences and I see they have a devoted community. Good for a local studio but some room for improvement.

I was traveling through Charleston with a friend and we signed up for Tymothi's class. Wow she was such a great instructor -- really gifted -- great playlist and really really good teacher -- she taught us how to get into positions (not to just do them)-- the class was one of our favorite classes ever -- THANK YOU TYMOTHI!! If we are in Charleston again we hope to see you

Walked in for 10am yoga, I booked it and didnt pay attention. As soon as I opened the door I was welcomed by a slap of dry, hot air. OMG, it is HOT yoga! I wasnt expecting it but I love hot yoga so extra points from me.
Class was challenging, fast, strong. The instructor was supportive and kept an eye to recommend adjustments when she saw me struggle. The flow was different from the usual and I discovered new poses ("little cricket"?).
The studio is on the small side but it is a nice space. There is plenty of parking in the area.
They also have a great intro package of $49/1st month unlimited, great for locals or for travelers like me.
I cant wait to continue my learning with these yogis. Namaste, y'all!

Community Yoga is truly a community. All instructors are welcoming and many have become friends of mine. Community is one of my favorite places on earth and is definitely my favorite yoga studio. I am a regular student about five times a week. I tend to stick to the heated power classes in the evenings. They’re an amazing full body and mental workout. They have tons of variety from Yin to Vinyasa to special Friday features and workshops. Their price packages are also the best around, I just purchase the yearly unlimited so I never have to think about it and can go almost any time/as much as I want! It’s a great location with street parking on 17 and plenty parking available in the neighborhood Byrnes down behind the plaza. Highly recommend Community for all your yoga needs!

Community Yoga is appropriately nestled in the artsy, eclectic, and warm shops of Avondale. I have taken several classes at this studio, and enjoyed each one. The teachers are knowledgable and make every student feel comfortable in the space. There is ample room for changing, and props, hand towels, and cool wash cloths are provided. The rates are very competitive, and they offer several options for new students to maximize their time trying out the space at reduced cost.

I've had such an excellent experience at CCY so far. I've been attending about a month. I've taken classes with Caroline and with Stacy, and really like their styles. The studio is small, clean, and cute, and stocked with so many props to use. They have mats in case you don't have your own. I leave each class feeling like I did something good for myself. Additionally, I feel like these are some of the most affordable yoga classes I've seen in Charleston.

I took a yoga class and really enjoyed it however due to my pregnant belly I could no longer take the class. I asked for a refund because I had bought a 5 class pass thinking I would be able to handle the classes because I'm a ballet dancer/teacher and it was too painful. I tried explaining this and they were very rude and not understanding of my situation at all. I was very disappointed with the customer service and negativity I received and I would not recommend classes for that reason. Had Emily been more understanding I would've tried the prenatal yoga classes that were just recently offered.

I have had nothing but a wonderful experience at Charleston Community Yoga. As a person who practiced yoga for a few years and had not been back on a mat in as long it was very welcoming. What I like best is that the teachers are very accommodating to every level of experience in all of the classes that I've taken at Charleston Community Yoga. I am obsessed with the hot yoga classes and love what it does for me mentally and physically. I always feel like I get so much out of every class. The people in all of the classes are very respectful and friendly. A huge bonus is it is always easy to find free parking which is amazing in itself in Charleston! You also can't beat the price (really I've checked). I have enjoyed all the time I have spent at Charleston Community Yoga and appreciate all that it has done for me on and off the mat.
