As a truck driver, this is probably one of the most dirtiest crunch gyms I've been too. It gave me planet fitness vibes. Sauna was covered in filth, just piles of water bottles in the mens locker room randomly laying around. Ripped or torn seats on gym equipment. Only thing I can say is the staff is pretty laid back and caring.

I recently renewed my Crunch supscription with my girlfriend so that we could have gym time together. I used to visit back when Crunch was a 24 hour gym, and I had genuinely forgotten that the gym closes at 9 on Saturdays. After my workout last night, I went into the sauna like I used to. I didn't take my cell phone in with me because I didn't want it to overheat. Around 9:02, an older man with a baseball cap came in to tell me that they wanted me to get out because the gym closes at 9. I immediately got my stuff together and went out. I apologized because it was an honest mistake, but I didn't think it was a huge deal being only a few minutes after close. I was wrong. My girlfriend had been waiting outside for me, and when I saw her she was visibly upset. I asked her what was wrong and she wouldn't tell me until we got outside. One of the associates was loudly bad mouthing me in front of her, using profanity, and being extremely disrespectful. Apparently, he pretended to go into the locker room to alert me of the time. I never once heard a word from him personally, but my girlfriend heard him say quite a lot. That older man had something to say too, which is where the real problem comes in. He said: "That sure is a pretty girl. It's a shame he left her out here all alone". That is not an appropriate thing to say to anyone. My girlfriend has been in some bad situations, and that comment made her feel physically unsafe. We have both spent a lot of money to work out at Crunch, and we don't deserve to be disrespected like that. Nobody deserves to feel unsafe at the gym, and this kind of behavior is completely unacceptable.

If you sign up, they will make it almost impossible for you to cancel without charging you an extra month! That’s NOT how you treat your customers! They don’t care about you, they just care about ripping you off! The front desk people are rude and hot helpful and honestly don’t know what they are doing. Went in today to cancel and they couldn’t answer me if I was going to get charged for that or not! I asked to lower my monthly charger and they did without explaining that it will unfreeze my account which I didn’t want to do because I DONT have the time to hit the gym now! I signed up and went maybe three times and they got close to $200 for that! I would think that’s enough paid but no it’s not for them! Literally if you sign up and it doesn’t work for you, good luck canceling without loosing more money! Horrible way to treat customers. They also over charged my at some point when I put my account on hold they kept charging my bank account without my permission until i noticed. Took me couple of months to fight those charges back! Scam company that don’t care about you, only about your money! Stay away! Find a different gym!

You will get a 5 star if you just fix the water fountain and put a good filter in it. People are working out. They need good clean water. The water that comes out of the fountain is discusting and taste like chemicals as well as it's hot. I have to buy water bottles from them to have clean cold water. That seems like a scam. Fix the water situation and I would be happy.
I will be posting this ever week if not every day until it gets fixed. I have asked in person to only be told no manager is onsite and they are working on it. No they are not working on it. Its been the same forever.

I’ve had a very disappointing experience at Crunch Fitness Anderson, SC. The management is unprofessional and unhelpful. The gym has multiple pieces of equipment that are constantly out of order, and nothing ever seems to get fixed in a timely manner.

The bathrooms are nasty, often without toilet paper or basic supplies, which shows a complete lack of care for members. On top of that, some workers have been disrespectful, and I even found out that one staff member was using a false name and position—very dishonest and untrustworthy behavior.

Members deserve a clean, safe gym and respectful customer service. Unfortunately, this Crunch location has failed to provide even the basics. I cannot recommend this gym to anyone.
And not all the 5 stars reviews is real because if you put a good review they give a month for free so watch out for that is not worth it

Crunch is CLUTCH for me! The best way to describe it is that the hit the "sweet spot" between the pampered environment of Planet Fitness and the gym-rat environment of many cross fit gyms. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The equipment is comprehensive, eg they just might have the only triceps press machine in town. The place is extremely clean, when I was there today, there was a staff member constantly CLEANING, not just doing perfunctory wiped owns of the equipment.

As a certified personal trainer, I understand fitness equipment and know what makes for a great gym, and this place has it! I highly recommend it!

Probably the least sanitary Crunch I have been to (I can only speak for the men's locker room). With the rates going up this year I do not feel it is worth continuing my membership here. Maybe this crunch is severely mismanaged idk how the locker rooms are this bad. If I have to pay $34.99 or even $16.99 for a nasty bathroom. I will just go across the street to planet fitness where the locker rooms are clean and the price is less.

If you're looking for a gym that sometimes opens on time, occasionally has working equipment, and always keeps you guessing-Crunch Fitness is your place! It's like Russian roulette for your workout: will the doors be locked? Will the treadmill actually move? Who knows! I really liked this gym at 1st. But now the tanning beds are gross, and they never clean the tanning rooms. Its like the massaging chairs are always broke .Alot of the equipment is broke or not working properly. Im in my 30s, never really been an athletic person and was diagnosed with MS this year. I came to crunch wanting to regain some of my life but nervous I wouldn't feel comfortable. The staff here is PHENOMENAL. RJ the manager is who did my tour and got me set up but Monica was my trainer and she's been so good to me even after the first session she always asks how im doing. Shelly and Eli at the desk are also amazing humans. Crunch in Anderson is a model gym if you are feeling unsure. Way to go anderson staff, my home away from home.... and work.. lol

If I could I would give this place 0 stars because I have had my account cancelled for over a couple of months and had a trainer but normally when you cancel your membership everything cancels as well and before I canceled my membership I canceled with the trainer not too long after that I canceled my membership and they won’t quit drawing the money out of my account even tho I had everything canceled when I went up there to do all this I had nothing charged on my membership but had to pay $60 then I went back up there and I was told that I didn’t have to pay anything to cancel my account I wouldn’t recommend going here because they don’t really care as long as they are making money and when they say that they understand if you got thing going on they really don’t. If I had to recommend a gym I would save people the trouble and tell them planet fitness is where to go.

I had high hopes when Crunch bought Gold's last year, but now I'm just hoping for the bare minimum (clean it and maintain equipment). My wife and I paid extra for the membership, wanting to support them, even though we don't really take classes.

We are there every single day, so the things I'm pointing out are not an aberration.

Equipment Broken:
There are 4-6 machines out of order at all times, and they are not fixed quickly... the cable machine has been out of order for close to four months. It gets to the point that people tear the signs off, I assume to either use them while broken or just because they're tired of looking at "out of order" signs.

As of today, there are 11 TVs out of order. They're either black-screened, frozen (since about 6 weeks ago), or in screensaver mode. The ones with screensavers have worked for exactly one day in the past year since Crunch took over.

At last count, there were 13 treadmills out of order... 13!!!! (see video for proof). In the cycle room, half the bikes are broken and the sound system is so distorted, you'd think it was from a drug dealer's 1989 Chevy Citation. The drinking fountain was out of order for months, I still don't know if it's fixed but someone removed the "out of order" sign. Drink at your own risk, I guess.

The dumbbell rack has never been full since day one. No idea why there are spots for dumbbells, but they didn't order them. Makes it tough to wait for those dumbbells in a busy gym.

They provided sandbags for lunges and various movements, only to make them unavailable to members. Thanks?!?

Mirrors are broken on the wall and have been for a year, so zero chance they'll be fixed. They also bought thin mirrors that are wavy, so it kind of feels like a fun house when you're checking your form.

Cleanliness: If I put my sweatshirt on the floor, it has black dust on it when I pick it up. The mirrors are constantly filthy. I've seen the same handprints on them for several months. The bathrooms are just disgusting, which I expect a certain amount of that in a gym that has a bunch of people eating tons of protein. But for trash to be overflowing on to the floor to the point that the paper towels are up to your knees is just lazy. And the music is ridiculously loud in the back, but non-existent in the front, so staff turn it up so they can hear it, only to irritate the people actually working out. Even noise-cancelling headphones don't drown it out. I realize you're not going to make everyone happy with music choice (another reason to turn down the volume), but I really don't get inspired by hearing Selena Gomez.

I have received and filled out several surveys via email, and I always provide this feedback and ask to be contacted. I'll give you a hint how many times I've been contacted... it's less than one. I've also reached out to the owner several times and gotten a "thanks, we're working on it" response. They're in dire need of a competent manager.

With the new year in full swing, if you're looking for a gym... I'd keep looking.

Update May 2025: nothing has changed, but now Crunch is offering to enter you into a raffle if you give them a 5 star Google review. Personally, I think they need to earn it instead of buy it.

Great value and overall solid gym.
I’ve been coming here for a few months, and it’s definitely improved over time. Cleanliness was an issue at first, but they’ve stepped it up. There’s a good variety of equipment available, and I rarely had to wait to use anything.

What really makes it worth it is the value—you get a workout, tanning, sauna, and massage chairs all included at an affordable price. They also offer workout classes and personal training, which I’ve tried and highly recommend. The staff are friendly and helpful, great environment.

Evenings are my usual workout time, and it’s never crowded. My training sessions are midday, and it’s been calm then too.

Only minor downsides: it’s no longer 24 hours (which would be awesome), and the tanning beds could be a bit cleaner.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a well-rounded gym experience.

As a former Planet Fitness member, I would say switching to Crunch was the best move I could’ve made in my fitness journey! This gym has way better equipment and the atmosphere motivates me to lock into my workouts. The only thing I wish is that they would set up the basketball court so we can play! I will go to the store and get two goals if that will help open it up faster lol.

Update: the gains are gaining yall! 20lbs down since January and losing inches each month! Thanks Crunch!
