By far one the best gyms In Charleston. Hopefully they will get another location soon. Some of
The reviewers are very critic but no gym is perfect. I wish the lighting wasn’t so bright by the bench press racks but i got me an anti blue light glasses for that

Great equipment but they need to up their cleanliness. Maybe they should hire a cleaning company to come in at night and clean. Showers and locker room are not always clean….even first thing in the morning. The trash cans are literally full and on the floor as soon as they open like the evening crew don’t take out the trash or clean before closing. Shower floors are dirty.

Fit Life Health Clubs used to be a 5-star gym, but the quality has gone downhill fast. The equipment selection is great, but the maintenance is almost nonexistent. I’ve brought up concerns multiple times about loose bolts, broken pieces, and the fact that basic dusting and cleaning are ignored. Every single day I can point out the same issues, yet nothing gets fixed.
Instead of focusing on upkeep and member safety, the priority seems to be constant sales. Simple operational basics—like keeping paper towels stocked or ensuring disinfectant spray is available—are repeatedly overlooked.
To make matters worse, I was away for over a month on military training and placed my membership on hold. When I asked why I was still billed for a month I wasn’t even here, I was told nothing could be done because I reactivated a few days before the billing cycle. No flexibility, no understanding.
Right now, this is a 1-star gym, and that’s disappointing considering what it used to be. If they fix these issues, I’ll update my review—but for now, I can’t recommend it.

I llve this club because it was the only place I have gone to that tge sauna is actually hot in the womens side and there is a fitness room just for women only!!!! It is so womderful. Theres tons of cardio on the second floor and they will also turn off a tv or two if I ask cuz I like to work out distraction free. Also there is a big open floor area and daycare for the kiddos. Really reccomend this gym to women the men are also respectful and no bothersome energies here. Cery greatful. Staff is nice. Pleanty of good things and classes to give a try still. Looking forwards to this. The proce is super reasonalble I pay 39.99 a month this is way less than other clubs and all brand nee equipment so this worked for me. Also couples get a discount if they sign up together. There are cryo and hydro beds also with a cycling room as well as a extra open room upstairs when no ones in there to stretch or do whatever extra workouts you would like. This gym fits what my ever need is. They have quite a lot of options oh and boxing also available in classes. Yoga too.

Aren't you going to fix the Cross in the women's area? There's only one working, and it's been like this for a week.

My wife and I went to fit life on an early Monday morning just to be told she couldn’t workout. We were told because she not a member she would have to pay $15 to workout for the day. Keep in mind I pay $40 for their biggest membership and you’re not able to bring a guest from Thursday-Sunday. Honestly don’t waist your time a gym like this. Yea they may have the latest equipment but it not worth it if you’re not able to get all your money worth.

DANGEROUS AND FAULTY EQUIPMENT, WATCH OUT. I’ve reported broken and dangerous machines for the last two months and they never fix it or block it off. This is evident on like 5 of the machines. When I went to bring it up today the manager and staff members for the 10th time they said that gym goers are taking off the caution tape (sure…) so they refuse to fix it and I should “use other machines if it bothers me.” I guess we will just have to guess which are safe

FitLife North Charleston was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I was charged a random $58.99 “downgrade fee” that was never mentioned in my contract. When I asked staff about it, I got conflicting answers and zero help. No one seemed to know what was going on, and no one seemed to care either.
The gym itself is chaotic. The bathrooms smell like a dog kennel seriously unpleasant. It feels more like a hangout spot than a place to actually work out. People sit on machines chatting or scrolling on their phones for ages, making it nearly impossible to use anything during peak hours.
The music is ridiculously loud throughout the entire facility—including the bathrooms and sauna room. It’s supposed to be a place to focus or unwind, but the music is blasting even in the sauna, making it uncomfortable and disruptive. You can’t even relax for five minutes without feeling like you're in a nightclub.
To make it worse, the staff look miserable, and the fake customer service is obvious. One night, I walked in and the front desk associate was literally eating a Chick-fil-A sandwich. This is a gym, not a drive-thru or break room.
I’ve already canceled my membership and will be telling friends and family to steer clear. Save your money and your sanity—go anywhere else.

I am not going to lie, I had high hopes for this gym. I cancelled my membership at a much higher end gym, to begin coming here JUST for the chid care, because for me, having 2 kids can definitely make it harder to go to the gym, so I thought FitLife would be a great option so I could go whenever I wanted.
The first few visits were great (like most things when they open) but after about the first month, the childcare has gone downhill IMO.
Maybe some people just want a place to dump their kids off for them to go train, but if you actually care about the treatment your kids get, then do not come here. I’ve brought my 4yo a total of 4-5 times (first two were decent) but the last few times the workers in there don’t even acknowledge us, don’t smile at my daughter or me, they are always just sitting down on the chairs on their phone or staring into space while the kids (all ages) have free range and un monitored TV time.
I believe two weeks ago I brought my 4yo again, and when I went to pick her up, she was in the back “theatre” room just with what looked to be an 11-12 yr old girl watching some random adult vlogging brain rot with zero supervision, and no workers even back there with them. Again just on their phones in the front room. Maybe it’s just me- but this is absolutely unacceptable , why work with children if you don’t like kids? Why hire people who don’t engage at all? I was not happy that my daughter was exposed to adult vlogging brain rot, there is no world where that is healthy or acceptable.
If you are a parent thinking about coming here because of the child care, just don’t. The gym is not a bad gym- but it’s comparable to PF, Crunch, commercial gyms. Best part is the sauna access.
Please hire people who care about kids, we deserve to have a trustworthy place for our kids to go where they have fun and interact. Not where they get dropped off and ignored.

Despite repeated requests from customers, they refuse to install bike racks and will not allow bikes to be brought into the building. There are no bike racks outside by any of the other facilities nearby.
The inside facility is good, however, it is rather ridiculous for a gym not to have a bike rack.

The service here has been absolutely awful so far. I didn’t even get to use the gym yet and im already unimpressed. The app doesn’t work for scheduling classes which I why I signed up in the first place, and there’s a 30 day cancellation policy so they can get another month of membership money which is super shady and not something I’ve experienced with other gyms. Unfortunately I would not recommend which is really disappointing because I was excited for them to finally open.

If you want an excellent place to go it’s probably one of the best gyms I’ve seen in over 20 years.
The staff is extremely talented and gifted and great to work with.
The equipment is way above excellence and second to none.
The sauna is the best I’ve been in over 20 years . You really need to check it out.!!!
I was not paid or asked to do this review. It’s actually a very, very good gym.

This gym is amazing!!! The staff is very friendly, you feel at home. I take my two year old son to the gym's childcare, and I couldn't be happier. They have cameras and a transparent wall so you can see what they're doing. My son is also very happy playing there. This gym is truly one of the best I've been to. They also have a women’s only part.

They want me to pay for 3 months worth of late fees and membership months when I wasn’t notified they were open, and they didn’t give a date when I signed up last year. At that point I think I’ll stick with planet fitness.

I love this place! I'm a little awkward and weird and feel anxious about new places but the staff have been absolutely wonderful to me. They have been patient and kind with my questions. Also, very warm in welcoming me when I walk in. The women's workout room is a game changer for me. It's fully equipped and I can work out in a smaller space that makes me feel comfortable and confident. The main gym floor is impressive but I adore having the small, tucked away space to workout without feeling so exposed to other people. The sauna, hydro message, and cryo beds are a great addition and a treat. I'm excited to try the red light therapy. 10/10

My teen son joined MaxFitness on Tower Rd in December 2024, but since then, the gym has come under new ownership. Recently, I went to speak with the manager about new membership options that weren’t available when my son initially joined. I wanted to adjust our current membership to the lowest plan, which is $10 per month, as my son only uses the gym for the equipment and doesn’t need additional services.
After discussing the matter, the manager suggested canceling our current membership and reenrolling under the new plan, but he informed me there would be an $80 enrollment fee. I pointed out that this didn’t seem fair to existing members—why should we have to cancel and re-enroll?
In response, the manager simply stared at me, spread his arms, and pointed to the door. I followed his suggestion, left, and canceled our membership. While I’m willing to pay the enrollment fee if necessary, it’s the manager’s attitude that really upset me. It feels like they’re more interested in squeezing money out of clients than actually helping them live a fit lifestyle.
I definitely will not recommend to any friends that intent to join the gym.
