We joined the YMCA on a whim back in April and it has been the best decision we have made on our health journey. The entire staff is makes you feel welcomed and the ladies who work with the childwatch program are phenomenal! There are MANY classes included with the membership along with pool access which make the monthly dues worth every penny!

Spacious and well kept. However the focus is mostly geriatric females. The classes are not geared to athletes or strength building

I used to think that the YMCA is where old people went to do water aerobics. Not here, this is a very modern and up kept facility. The equipment is good and the membership price is great. Staff is welcoming and friendly - Cant wait for phase two to be complete!

We are blessed enough to do after school care with the YMCA. Last year we went to blue ridge elementary I loved them so much, Northside elementary this year. I love all the people leading this program. Shout out to Daphne thank you for helping make both years a success.

I've been a member here for 2+ years and (for now) plan to for as long as I live here.
The weight room is great. Classes are free with membership, and there's good options for children and families. There's lots of events and the people (staff and members) are friendly for the most part. The membership comes with membership to the Walhalla pool as well.
Some things I'd like to see change: the hours are a bit rough at night. The gym opens at 5:30 am M-Sat, which is nice, but it closes at 9 Mon-Thurs, 8:30 on Friday, and 5pm on the weekends. I'd love to see a sauna and a cold plunge as well.
But for what the YMCA does offer, it's great.

(Updated) I love this Y and I've been coming here for over a year now. I usually workout outside or go swimming. Edison, Sydney and the rest of the staff here are very friendly and helpful. Met some great friends here who are like-minded and into fitness. Easy to ask for a spot during a heavy lift, or to work-in on an exercise. Facility is clean and well-kept, still feels brand new. Keep up the great job and the morale! This is a rock for many of us!

This is a fantastic facility. The trainers and instructors are very knowledgeable. I take many classes there weekly. They have LesMills classes such as BodyPump, BodyCombat and RPM. They also have pilates and other types of classes. In addition, they also have a pool and a gym with weights and cardio equipment. The facility is always clean. If you are looking for a place to workout, consider this one.

I have been a member of this YMCA for over 2 years now. I have to say for what it is, my complaints are limited. I only use the Weightlifting Section as well as a few of the exercise rooms as fitness is my only priority when it comes to the facilities offered. However, regarding these aspects I believe this place to be sub par. For one, they are limited regarding their equipment. This is not that big a deal seeing as they have plenty of machines to try and compensate, but I believe they would be better off with more areas dedicated to compound free weights (benches, squat racks, ect.) In addition to this, some of the trainers come off as empowered children. They install platforms for deadlifting with signs restricting overhead movements but are annoyed when the weights hit the ground (they are also selective with who they target). I have also had many friends who are criticized for lifting in socks for a single set or movement which is understandable but a little extra in my opinion. Also, the amount of kids-bop and child-like music that is played is absurd. In a GYM they play slow, unfitting music or straight up kids-bop despite the fact that they do not even allow kids to be in the general vicinity even if they are well behaved. I watched an innocent lady with very well behaved children be thrown out of the weightlifting section when she only went for a very limited time and claimed to only have a singular set left. This on top of many instances of rudeness from employees is the reason for me leaving my review and hope it is taken with consideration.
PS: My review has been changed to 1 star because I just got pissed at the fact that they're hours are atrocious. 1pm-5pm on a Sunday?!?!?!

I absolutely love my personal trainer and the child watch. I am disappointed with some of the accessory weight equipment not being replaced when worn out and extremely disappointed with both the inside and outside pools closing at 5 and 6. Most parents including myself work until 5. The pool is not serving the working community by closing so early when it is only July and still hot with plenty of daylight until past 8 on into September. There is also no email address or place for comments and suggestions on the web. I truly wish they would allow swim later for hard working parents to enjoy with their children after work hours.

We sent my 2 kids to day camp here for the second year. They only went 2 weeks as we are not local. The second to last day it was brought to my attention that my son got into an altercation. When I pushed for information, I got multiple stories and told my daughter was lying about what she say. Iβm by no means the parent who thinks that my kids can do no wrong. My son was not supervised well enough and 3 boys were able to corner him and hit him in the stomach 3 times. My son did not react well (hit back and said a bad word) but who wouldnβt defend themselves from 3 other kids?? Nobody really seemed to care and all it seems is that they were covering for someone. One counselor yelled at my child to be quiet because she didnβt know what to do and she couldnβt think. Unfortunately, the staff was not well trained with kiddos who may have difficulties (my son is very controlled when heβs on his medicine but still they didnβt know how to handle the situation). When this situation was questioned to the board, I was told that they would always take the side of the CEO and wouldnβt trust anyone else because they knew each other for multiple years. I was constantly interrupted during the phone call when I was asked what training they could improve on. I flat out told them Iβm not looking for anything but for this to not happen to any other kiddo. Last year my kids had a great time at this camp. This year, my son was allowed to be bullied and subsequently suspended for defending himself. In addition, they advertised private swim lessons that could be provided during camp as an add on. My kids should have gotten 4 lessons (2 each week). It was forgotten about by the staff and they got 1 1/2 lessons (1/2 because when they realized they forgot they gave my kids 1 lesson together even though we signed up for private lessons for each). Since the ball was dropped on that, they wanted us to drive an hour each way to bring them during days they werenβt at the camp. Very disorganized and untrained.

Every relationship is bound to have problems... the relationship i have with the Seneca YMCA is no exception to that rule. but it's time goes by relationships get better if both parties are interested in making them better I have to admit that this YMCA does have customer service problems Crystal Ross was genuinely heart broke of the prospect of my son not being able to come to her YMCA and I was heartbroked knowing that I jeopardize that by being inconsiderate with a new employee and not bearing with her and I'm embarrassed that I was frustrated as much as I was having said that I still have lots of memories with this YMCA and my son and me are welcome there to make more memories

We were so bummed this morning to find out this is not a kid friendly business. We have taken our autistic son with us to other ymca buildings to get some exercise. The weight machines really help his sensory issues. One of us has to be with him at all times, so he is always supervised. We were respectfully using the machines when an employee came to tell us he was not allowed to use the equipment until he was 14. And that he could only use the cardio equipment after he passed the 15-minute exam. He is autistic so that will not be possible.
Take our word for it, and don't pay your dues at this ymca unless you are a 70 year old donor to them.
Edit. To ymca response, true your policies may be posted, but I reviewed your business to let other people know before they waste time coming in. My personal opinion is that your policies are not in line with what the ymca stands for, specifically in youth development. I am also disappointed that your response was basically come back when our son is older. You are only sorry that we didn't see the policy, not sorry that the policy excluded us. Apparently, our concern will not be addressed in any way.

We joined the YMCA so my daughter could use the pool. I took her on Monday to swim. She completed and passed the swimming test. On Thursday (today), her Nana took her to the pool. Immediately my daughter was made to get out of the pool. Confused, my Mother asked why. They didn't write her name in the book on Monday for passing the test. They told her that she would have to do the test again in order to swim. She had already completed the test and just wanted to enjoy the pool. The staff is extremely young and not knowledgeable on the proper protocols and my child will not be the one that has to suffer because of it. Make sure the rules apply to everyone and not ones you feel you want to pick and choose.

Most Expensive gym in the city. Not kid friendly in my opinion. Son is 11 years old, he canβt work out with me, swim without me watching him, or have his own barcode to scan to come in the gym.
Iβve taught him to swim since he was 2. Probably swims better than their life guard. Try to teach him about how important fitness is but we will do that from home. Keep sheltering your kids, I wonβt mine.

The facility is very nice, however, the internet access to the treadmills is often not working. That would not be so bad if the televisions were positioned in a manner that you could actually see them from most of the equipment -- not sure why they installed them where they installed them. The worst problem is the front desk staff. On multiple occasions I have asked questions and they almost always say "I don't know, you need to ask someone else." Why have THREE people at the front desk and nobody can answer a question or provide assistance. Save some money and have one person who cannot help. Moreover, some are beyond rude. In fact, after trying to resolve a problem, one came back up the front desk and began making fun of me. I just so happened to walk up while she was doing so. I told her that I heard that, which she did not deny. Then, an older woman said you are being rude for challenging her. Say what?? I filed a complaint and if I do not hear back I will be cancelling my membership. As a paying customer, I do not need to be treated in such a disrespectful manner.

I am not yet a member, but was given a tour of the facility by Amanda. I am impressed with the modern equipment, separate rooms for different activities, and of course the swimming pool. There are conveniently located locker rooms as well. With a play area for kids, it's easy to see they do their best to include the entire family. They even offer classes as well as some personalized training to ensure you meet your fitness goals.

Im more than likely gonna cancel my membership. The workout equipment is great, and the pool is nice also however the afternoon staff is stuck up and unprofessional, Definitely not paying all this money to be talked to like a child. This says a lot considering the interaction with staff is minimal but enough to make me not care for it anymore.
It's definitely not difficult to be respectful and maintain a professional attitude while you work. This place has some bad apples that ruin the experience.

The Y itself is pretty good. The staff are very nice, there's a good variety of gym equipment, and the pool is fantastic. What I don't recommend is the youth soccer program. This is my family's third season doing soccer there, and they rely on parents to volunteer to coach. They charge about $90 per kid, do not hire coaches, often the jerseys don't even arrive until halfway through the season. It's disorganized and stressful, and the kids usually don't know what they're supposed to be doing during practice.

I love the instructors and the classes at the Y. Hailey and Sarah are my favorites. They care about our technique and make the classes challenging. Attendees are very friendly and motivated to work out. It is not luxurious but clean and new and gets the job done. The only negatives are that some ceiling fans are not working and have not worked in over a year. There is always an excuse why they don't work. July 2022, I had an uncomfortable experience with an instructor who was teaching my small class but mid class she allowed a non class attendee to enter the room. They were standing and talking loudly and not paying attention to the class participants and then moved to another area of the room, blatantly whispering and talking in the corner. I was awaiting instruction from the instructor but she was preoccupied talking. When she finally acknowledged me, she asked me (from across the room) if I was finished with the task. She was supposed to be instructing and watching our form since that is what she is paid to do. She gave me another task and walked out into the hallway to continue her conversation. It was rude and infuriating. I complained/called her on it when she finally returned to the room and she said nothing. I did not receive an apology. Upon my departure she yelled across the room that she heard me. She can't remember my name after many months of classes but I hope that she learned from it and that she remembers that she was rude and unprofessional and her behavior was unacceptable.

Love the classes, equipment, and instructors. They are witty, make the class interesting, and offer tips for those who cannot physically perform all the movements. My only complaint is that some of the classes are too full as many enjoy them so there isn't as much space to move around and the room gets a bit warm. Wipes are always available and the facility is clean.
