We arrived today at the course. Nobody to help at bag drop. The when we are waiting to tee off there are 2 groups of 3 and 1 group of 4 ahead of us. We don’t mind if someone is not very good but you must keep pace of play. No ranger on the course. 3 groups on each hole. Pace of play for 18 holes - almost 5 hours. We get back and nobody available to help with the clubs. All this for $200 per person. Horrible!

A friend and I played the George Fazio course Thursday, September 18. We teed off ~3:30pm and played the round in a little over 3 hours. The gentleman handling all customer proshop needs is great and easy to work with. The lady working the refreshments area is friendly and easily answered questions.
The golf course is in excellent shape. There are a couple of small brown areas but not part of the actual play area just line of sight. The greens are all plush and look great. The only con for my preference is they are too slow. As with most courses located in tourist areas where space is at a premium or non existent, there are a couple of dog legs due to the room allowed. The entire course is in great shape. My only issue is the front 9 and the back 9 are very similar. It is worth it to play and enjoyable. When finished, Ron helped us out with the cart. He is the head man that keeps equipment in perfect condition. He was helping out a coworker. Nice guy and a quick conversation regarding the course and new equipment. Just remember, you are a sea level and the ball does not carry as far as courses further inland. No doubt that I will play again soon.

I had been waiting to write this review since we emailed the course directly but we have not received a response. My family always stays in Palmetto Dunes and we play all the courses they have. My brother and I played the Fazio course and had one of the worst experiences from their grounds crew. On THREE separate occasions a grounds crew member who didn’t speak any English drove his lawn mower up to the tee box right when we were teeing off and wouldn’t let us hit. He NEEDED to mow the tee box before we could tee off and when we did go to hit, he sat behind us with his lawnmower on loud and wouldn’t even turn it off. When my brother hit a snap hook because of the obnoxious behavior he proceeded to laugh and drive off. After all this the THIRD time he came up to us on the SIGNATURE hole he got off his lawnmower asked for a club to show us a practice shot and tried to give us tips. A horrible experience when we were there for a short weekend.

I listened to the response below and attempted to call. I got the pro shop who said leaving a review message wouldn’t be helpful. Now when I call the pro shop is screening my calls and won’t answer the phone. I know because I had someone else try them right after me and they answered. They write a public response but will not follow through. HORRIBLE SERVICE.

Staff was extremely nice, facilities were wonderful.

I played the George Fazio course with my son and another twosome on Monday 7/21. We were greeted first thing in the morning by an extremely ornery, sarcastic and unprofessional starter. We were required to tee off 10 minutes before our tee time and without the 4th member of our group. We were told he could “catch up to us” once he arrived which was 5 minutes before our scheduled tee time, we were already on the first green. The starter then proceeded to scold him for not being there earlier even though he wasn’t late. I’ve played the course multiple times in the past and have played it over 15 different courses at Hilton Head over the years and have never been treated like this anywhere else. The greens were also extremely slow and the worst I’ve played on the island. With the cost of a round being what it is I find this unacceptable. I will choose to play other courses in the future on my annual trip to HH. Very disappointed!

The George Fazio Course at Palmetto Dunes is an absolute standout and easily one of the best golfing experiences on Hilton Head Island!

From the moment we arrived, the staff was friendly, professional, and welcoming—setting the tone for a great day. The course itself is beautifully designed and offers a perfect blend of challenge and playability. With only two par 5s and a strong mix of long par 4s, it truly tests every aspect of your game while still being fair and fun.

The conditions were superb—lush fairways, smooth and true greens, and well-maintained bunkers. The layout winds through gorgeous Lowcountry scenery, and every hole feels thoughtfully crafted and unique. Pace of play was excellent, and the overall atmosphere was first-class.

Decent resort style course. Not worth 180 though, more like $70. Didn't see a cart attendant until hole 15. Greens may just be me, since im used to Bermuda but didn't roll like a high end course imo. You won’t be disappointed! I set my brother up to play a round at this course today while he visited. Went to dinner with him after, and he couldn’t stop raving about the condition of the course and how everyone there was just so kind and helpful. I believe that the greens had been punched 3 weeks earlier and they have not healed. The fairways were in average condition at best. A very nice layoutr and friendly staff.

This was our groups 3 visit to this track over the past 5/6 years. Our first time on this track was GREAT. The course was in fantastic condition. The last two times niot so much and we probably would not go back.

I played Fazio course Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday of this last week. I know it was aerated a couple of weeks ago but that should be long enough for the greens to recovered. But on several greens had so much sand on the that it was above the grass and you had to putt over it. Several of the forward tee box and little or no grass on it. I paid $119.00 for Sunday and Tuesday and only played 9 on Thursday. This is a $60 course not $119.00. I gave you 3 stars because the fairways was in good shape. I would also recommend that you have a ranger on the course to speed up play. There were some players hitting 2 balls and had some empty holes in front of them.

Fun Course, for the greens fees there are others out there that are better in the area. The grounds crew were on top of us on every hole from 1-9 (we had an earlier tee time). Usually not an issue for me being a greenskeeper but it was very unpleasant trying to play around the machinery, it was brought to the attention of the clubhouse staff and the issue was alleviated. Would make sure if you play you are at least a month away from the last aerification. Greens are in decent condition but most were bumpy. Overall fun course, RTJ course is the better pick of the options.

Played here recently and overall had a great time. The greens had been punched about 10 days prior, but they actually rolled pretty well considering, definitely playable and not too bumpy. Tee boxes were mixed, some were a little rough but depended on which tees. The course itself is scenic, with plenty of natural beauty that adds to the experience. Staff was friendly all around. The pro shop team was welcoming, and the starter gave some helpful advice before the round. Pace of play was very reasonable at around 4 hours and 15 minutes. Paid $150 for the round, which felt just about right, maybe a little on the high side, but not unreasonable for the quality and experience. All in all, a solid track, and I’d definitely play here again.

We have played this course for years but it has become the lesser of the 3 Palmetto Dunes courses. They partially closed the course to redo the cart paths in Jan so waited to play the course in Feb but all the paths were still not completed. The Feb green fees are over priced for the condition of the course. 2025 UPDATE: Updated GPS system on the carts is the best we have seen but on the back 9 the pin locations were not programmed correctly. They don't overseed this course like they do at the Jones course, but condition of the course wasn't too bad. Greens were fast & in good shape. No starter when we played but no issues in getting the round started. We played the course 2 days in a row & the GPS pin positions were not corrected & the pins had not moved from the day before.

Is very fair but challenging. If the wind is up like it was on Dec. 5th the course is long even from the whites if you can’t carry your drive 220+. So, if you aren’t a long hitter select your tee box wisely. If you are looking for a course round out your golf trip this one should be in your mix.

Absolutely fantastic course with exceptional staff. Reserved our tee time online for my wife and me ahead of our family vacation over Thanksgiving week. Was given an opportunity to start out ahead of a 4-some which was very appreciated as we had no one pushing us and never had to wait to tee off except on one par 3. Course was in exceptional condition, challenging holes with lots of water and hazards, gators on16 which we were advised about though not seen. When my husband and I arrived to the course we were not greeted by the golf cart attendant, he was no where in sight. We proceeded to the pro shop to check in again no one was around, waited, finally a gentleman came in and checked us in. We were about 30 minutes early and the pro shop employee told us we can grab a cart, there is no starter , we can do what ever we want , start anytime and suggested we get out there before the foursome gets here. The course seemed to be in good shape. We had a guy driving a leaf blower following us for 3 holes it started to become annoying, as we were going to call the pro shop the guy went the other way.. when we arrived on hole 10 a group of 5 just teed off. We followed for a couple of holes and they let us play through. I noticed before then another group of 5 a couple holes behind us. I’m not sure if this is a regular thing, no golf cart attendant, no starter and groups of 5 players. The girl in the snack shop was sitting at a table I think on her phone. When she seen me she jumped up didn’t say a word to me, I handed her 2 bags of pretzels, she rang them up and still didn’t say a word. Also this course could use a ranger or two to keep the pace of play in check . I have never been to a golf course that was basically self serve. For the 2 of us it was around $275. I think that is expensive for the treatment we received. .

We enjoyed George Fazio golf course so much that we played 27 holes. The course is beautiful and a good balance between being challenging and simply enjoyable. Clark and the other staff members are welcoming and always ready to be helpful. We recommend it highly.

Had time for one round on HHI and chose Palmetto Dunes Fazio Course based on recent reviews after doing a lot of research. I felt like the price was fair for a 12:30pm tee time. The weather was perfect and I had the course to myself on a Sunday afternoon! The course conditions were excellent - greens were perfect and smooth, fairways (the handful that I found) were crisp and tee boxes well manicured. Overall, a beautiful course and a fun afternoon! Would love to come back and play again as well as AH and RTJ! 👍🏼

Excellent course with a good amount of challenges. The fairways and greens were well kept and staff was friendly. When we got there we were greeted by Chris, who was helpful in making sure we had everything we needed and provided some tips on how the course was playing that day. I plan on returning the next time I am in town.

Great course layout and conditions. Your folks have done a fantastic job in cleanup from the storm. Suggest you move the green tees up on #18 to where they were before at ~350 yards. They are at nearly 400 yards now..just too far for forward tees with such a narrow green. More difficult is not more better!

Arguably the easiest of the three palmetto courses, although water still comes into play throughout. Excellent late summer course conditions and greens were in almost perfect shape. However, amenities are lacking, especially for a full-on resort greens fee of $160+ pp. For example, no bag service, beverage cart, and no driving range on site. Practice facility is limited to one small putting green with two chipping mats, a generally poor effort. The solution is to travel to Hills in advance to warm up, where range balls are not included in the greens fee. Aside from this and the decision to restrict range practice to mats only on a beautiful day, it was a good experience all around.

My son and I had a chance to play the Fazio course last week. I hadn’t played there in a long time. When I checked in with Tim in the pro shop, who was wonderful, he said we were in for a treat. He truly was not joking. The course was in phenomenal condition, especially considering the island had 16” of rain two weeks ago. The fairways were tight and the greens were smooth. I’m pretty sure my son and I both had perpetual smiles on our faces. And thanks as always to my long time friend Samm Wolfe, who is always a gracious host! We will be back!

A great course for the $$. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Playing bent greens at home, these were hard to adjust to. Much slower but in great shape. 4 stars because of the lack of a driving range to warm up. Otherwise a great experience.

i really enjoyed playing here. Maybe it’s because i hit my rental irons better than i hit my own. Maybe it’s because in 12 twilight holes i played alone, I never 3 putted. Or maybe it’s because the clubhouse guy Chris was the absolute man. Maybe, i just enjoy southern style golf more than woodland NY muni’s. Maybe it was awesome to easily be able to find your ball, even in the rough.

In any case, i recommend playing here. If you can, call up and get out in the evening when less people are out there. It’s a gorgeous course. No, not as primp and proper as Harbourtown, but also half the price. 16-18 is a hell of a stretch.

My husband and son in law played this course Monday morning. A groundscrew person was spraying a blue chemical on the green right in front of them. When my husband picked up his ball it was covered in the blue chemical. He then had it all over his hand. . He tried to wipe it off but had to ask for some cleaner at the clubhouse. 2 people came and apologized to him. Later that night he started to feel ill. He has been sick since. Headache. Chest congestion and body aches.

I’ve been coming to Hilton Head for about 30 years. I always try to play one of the 3 courses. Fazio was this years choice. While I’ve never had a bad experience this year was a bit different. We were the first group out on Monday and things were going good until we caught up to the guy fertilizing the fairways. When I got to my ball, it was blue. I picked it up to clean it off and my hands were covered in blue dye that didn’t come out. The clubhouse was very apologetic, as a matter of fact two people came up to me apologizing. Since my experience Monday I’ve been pretty sick the past 2 days. Don’t know if this is related, but sure is a coincidence. Just wondered if this has happened before cause I’ve been golfing for 58 years and never have seen this.

I had a nice 18 holes. The course was in great shape and enjoyable. The clubhouse staff alowed me to play a faster pace by recommending me playing the back nine twice and gave me a discount on my round and rental for doing so. I'd come back to George Fazio for all of those things. Thank you!

My father and I had a wonderful time playing the Fazio course yesterday. Everyone was friendly, the course was immaculate and the atmosphere was perfect. I’ve played courses all over the southeast and the courses at Palmetto Dunes never disappoint. This is a must for any golfer when you’re on Hilton Head Island. I’m looking forward to my next trip and the George Fazio course will definitely be on the agenda.
