This is such a great gym. Everyone is so nice. This gym has a variety of workout machines. It's also very clean.

It's a good gym. The Gold's people are nice and professional. The sign up process does ask if you want a trainer. If you don't you just have to say no. If you sign a contract, they expect you to honor it. (This appears to be a shocking revelation to some previous reviewers.) I'm appalled over some of the idiotic reasoning in the bad reviews. It's a gym. You work out here. People sweat (if they actually push their limits). Deal with it. The hours are OK but I really would prefer longer. Google search has a attendance bar chart by the hour so you can avoid crowds if your schedule is flexible. Otherwise, it can be bit crowded, particularly in the pool since there are only 3 lanes. Machines are maintained and upgraded periodically. I manage my own training and move between the bike, treadmill, machines, free weights and the pool. It has everything I could ask for in a gym (apart from racquetball courts but that seems to be much more common out West). The pool is great to stretch out, and the jacuzzi is hot, but getting a lane (even shared) is hard outside of the low attendance times. 1 o'clock swims usually have just 1 or 2 people in the pool. I've been a member for several years here and had numerous other memberships with a range of gyms across the US.

I like this place, it's a good place to work out. Nice environment courteous employees, clean equipment. I do in the other hand wish that they open 4am and closed at midnight.
My workouts start at 4 AM and on my busy days I don't get in the gym till about 9 pm. But I'm just one individual can expect them to make those changes just for me, overall this gym is great.

I feel the need to post because people seem to have completely unreasonable expectations. It's a gym. I was a member for a year at another gym in town, less expensive with no contracts, but needed childcare. Gold's offers this. There are contracts but it's not as if it's a surprise. No one forces you to sign for 3 months or 3 years. Same with the personal trainer.
If you are expecting warm towels, massages, and sparkling equipment then you need to do it yourself. If you're looking for a nice environment to workout, an array of equipment, a slew of classes, a pool, childcare, and options, then it is fine. I've never thought to complain about a gym because the tanning wasn't up to par or the staff wasn't all smiley.

I go here everday and other than being crowded the place is great. Most of you are expecting too much or just like to complain. It's a gym, workout and shut up already!

There are lots of bad reviews of this gym, and most of them are quite valid. However, in the last couple of months things are turning around. And my review will focus on that.
The people at the front desk are sure a lot more friendly and attentive than they used to be, the gym is cleaner than it used to be, management seems to care more than they used to, and the general aura around the gym is much better.
I think I pay about $21 a month, and for that I get the pool, the cardio cinema room, the weights, the sauna and the steam room. It's not the Taj Mahal but it isn't nearly as bad as it was 6 months ago. I hope this continues.
I do agree with the reviewers that their contracts are not easy to understand, and very difficult to get out of. However, if Lexington South Carolina is your home or where you work I would say for the money this gym is worth a four star rating.

I am member , but it's the inexperienced, n lack of training that irritates me...example been tanning there for a month this is my 2nd month go to tan this morNing but couldn't cuz I went yesterday at 1pm n couldn't go today at 11am cuz it's not been 24hrs..I wasn't told this last month or this Month when I signed up again..like i said before it's lack of training n experience this employees recieve...n my opinion the company needs to hire mature individuals willing to learn n explain everything to the customers!!

This is a great gym. The sauna is the best I've ever used. If anything it is too hot. Never had that concern before.

I have been a member since March, 2014. I have had great success with the employees, the equipment, the personal trainer that I have signed up with, the facilities. If you are reading reviews from 3 years ago you really need to stop. The gym has new management and new employees that are helpful and friendly. ( The front desk 'kids' are as friendly to you as you are to them. I always say hello and am greeted by each one of them, and also tell them goodbye when I leave - a little common courtesy goes a long way ). I do not use the child care so I cannot speak to it. There are two locker rooms, and the lady that cleans the gym keeps up with them very well. It is a gym and there are times when the locker room smells like 'sweaty people'. Hopefully you aren't spending all of your time in the locker room. The pool is probably the best indoor pool in the area. It is not big enough for everyone at the same time, but it is clean and very well kept. It is a joy to swim there after coming from the gym that closed down in our town. The personal trainer that I use is very professional and very well informed. When I told him what I wanted to do he made a plan and we worked that plan. He is always there when he says he will be and is tough, tough, tough, but that is what I asked for. Training is expensive - but so is heart disease.... which would you rather pay for? It is only expensive if you don't give it your all and do what you are supposed to. The classes that I have attended have been excellent. I love the spinning classes. Some of the classes at certain times get very full - but early morning classes seem to be less crowded. I have only been to the gym after 5 a couple times and realized that is not the best time for me to work out.

Lies, Lies and More Lies!
1st Lie: They Do Have Childcare and that Has Not Changed.
2nd Lie: The Employees are NOT Rude
3rd Lie: The Employees are not all Kids.
4th Lie: The Locker Room DOES NOT smell like dirty feet. It smells like Bleach and it has bothered my sensitive Eyes.
5th Lie: You are given a Contract to Read before you sign, so it is Your Responsibility to READ IT, unless you Can't Read.
6th Lie: They do show you how to use the equipment and the equipment does have instructions to show you how to use it unless you can't read.
7th Lie: The tanning beds are clean and the rooms are well kept.
The Massage Bed has helped my back in which I have 4 herniated discs ( L3, L4, L5, S1).
I testify to these statements above and I am a member who goes there at different times of the day and that I have written the truth in this Review. I will also state that while giving your opinion on certain reviews, it can be misconstrued as slander. Slander is a crime and legal actions can be enforced with substantial consequences. I remain:

These r legitimate claims as to how bad this facility is. DO NOT JOIN!! They pressure into longer contracts and their childcare which we signed up for has diminished in care and there is no adjustment to our contract. So in essence we cannot go to exercise because they changed their childcare that we needed to exercise and we r stuck to paying every month for nothing!!!!

Gym has adequate equipment (I can't think of any other equipment off hand that I wish they had), but the company cares only about contracts and not the people. Gold's Gym doesn't take care of it's own employees (charges employees full price of a gym membership to workout there; promises them things and doesn't do it,etc.). A handful of employees are nice and are committed and dedicated to take care of members/ patrons but it's obvious that most of them are employees that working "just a job."
At a previous gym in Nashville, TN (YMCA), a real nice feature they had were clean towels and for the pool use and in the restrooms as well as hair dryers. These are real nice features as it's easy to forget to bring a towel and can be a hassle to ensure a hair dryer is packed in the gym bag. When I asked an employee of Gold's Gym if they had those features, this is the response that I was given: "No because it could turn out to be very 'unhygienic' like another gym I worked at. Pubic hairs are still on the towels after they are washed and dried. As a matter of fact, I'm sure, if they could be seen, there are probably pubic hairs all over the treadmills here falling out of people's shorts and stuff."

Don't sign up for this gym. When you first try to sign up they will pressure you into getting a personal trainer which is $140-160 a month for only one 30 minute sessions a week. Even though it is only 30 minute, it does help, but it is way too expensive. Also, there is pretty much no way for you to cancel your contract unless you move far away and show them that you moved far away. When I used to go to the YMCA, all you had to do was tell them that you want to end your membership 30 days in advance and they will, with no fee. Gold's gym actually has a cancellation fee that they don't always tell people about. The cancellation fee is $250.00.Plus you have to tell them 30 days in advance, so that they can get one more month's worth of fee's from you. I originally signed up mainly for their kids care services and the pool. The kids care service is ok, but the pool sucks. It is a small pool with only a few lanes for swimmers, and a side area for standers. The pool is always packed as well, so if you go you won't be able to do much swimming. The Ymca has 4-5 lanes open most of the time, unless they have swimming lessons. As for the cancellation fee, there is no negotiating with that. There is only one person you can talk to and she won't budge on that. My personal trainer ended my contract verbally, when I still had 5 p/t session on my account that I paid for and I paid my $40 membership fee that month as well. I guess, since she heard from the home office that I hadn't paid for the following month's session, she decided that she was not going to give me the 5 sessions that I paid for, and they had the nerve to still call my home, and send collections letter's for the cancellation fee. If you want to sign up for a gym membership, go anywhere but there!

I never even use this account for Google+ or anything else, so for me to use it to write a review on a gym in the middle of nowhere in the most obscure state in the United States is really saying something. This gym undoubtedly has the worst customer service ever! They are unprofessional and downright incompetent. And yes, I have complained to corporate using those exact words. However, when you complain to corporate, it goes to the local branch, where those in charge are even worse at customer service than the useless people at the front desk. They lose things and they blame it on you, and when you tell corporate off about it and give them the facts, they too, blame it on you instead of taking responsibility. You then get a "let me know if you have anymore questions" type of response at the end of an attempting-but-failing-to-be-condescending email. Well, I guess they didn't expect that I would actually reply to said email and state facts that made them look downright stupid and ask questions that would contradict their whole point of view. Needless to say, I never got a response. Gold's seems to forget that the customer is always right. The customer isn't even wrong in their eyes... In their eyes, the customer ceases to exist. And so does any type of service. So glad I get to leave at the end of this summer when I go back to college, which is a place where most of these employees have probably never been to. I would give this place negative stars, but Google won't let me, and I LOVE the instructors. They are awesome. But not awesome enough to make up for the horrible sales reps and for the most part, front desk people. Speaking of those awful people... you get paid to scan my gym card in and most of you aren't even remotely close to being in shape. Why are you under the impression that you can act snobby and look down on members?

Disgusting!! Most rude employee I have ever encountered. Especially the front desk. I thought that was suppose to be the person that made you feel welcome. WRONG!! Restrooms are horrible. Lots of employees walking around trying to be someone they are not. Sad because it would be a really nice place to workout but I think we all agree that it's all about customer service and cleanliness. Can you imagine that they never even wipe the sweat off of the equipment it just continues to grow bacteria. Disgusting!!!

NEVER EVER going back there again. Absolutely disgusting. The locker rooms smell like dirty feet. The people there (customers and employees..) are just rude and inconsiderate. The parking is really crappy. If you want to do zumba there, you need to get there about a half hour early to just get a decent parking spot, as well as a decent spot in the class. Nasty, nasty, NASTY! Don't go there unless you like filth.
