Nice gym, but too crowded early weekday mornings. Squat racks are never available and hogged by the same crew every morning. Cold water from showers. Iβve returned to the AFB for my morning workouts on my commute to Mt P and hit Goldβs when I get off at 4pm, when is less crowded. Personal trainer fee, overly, overly priced!

Numerous broken machines that have not been fixed for over four weeks. There is limited leg equipment in general, and it always has caution tape around the leg extension and hip abduction/abduction machine. Limited squat racks/platforms, one plated leg press, and hardly any back equipment. Very unsanitary, while on the machines you can see piles of dust and sweat on the machines. A positive is that they have lots of cardio equipment and the staff is friendly

Equipment breaks and doesn't get fixed or replaced for months. Not worth the price of membership.

This gym is a very friendly place and non-judgmental. People are always willing to help and being disabled that's a very important factor. Great variety of weight machines and free weights and cardiio. Simply an awesome experience!

It's a bit of a data blind spot and sometimes machines are unavailable due to damage, but for the most part it's a great place to work out.

I love this gym! It is a "no frills" gym compared to the one I went to in Colorado (Lifetime Fitness.) However, there is a VERY strong sense of community there. The owner, managers, trainers and members and really great people! The gym has a good variety of classes, cardio machines, weight machines and free weights. They also have TRX straps, spin classes and saunas in the locker rooms. I really love going to work out at this Gold's because I look forward to seeing my "gym tribe" every day.

Nice gym and mostly friendly staff. Rating unfortunately is a reflection of an encounter I had with a single staff member.
While working out in the CORNER of the gym (on a platform not holding up any equipment for other guest) I received a work phone call and took it on my headphones that lasted approximately 10 minutes. During this call an employee named Leanne first gave me the βcut it off signβ then came over and said βyou need to get off your phone. And yes, I work hereβ.
I respect and do my best to abide by gym etiquette with the goal of not negatively affect other patrons:
Putting away weights, not idling on in demand machines, wiping down equipment etc. but to be told you canβt talk on your headphones and need to hang up your call is a new level of stringency that is expected and enforced at this location.

Great gym, friendly staff, plenty of workout equipment. Sauna is the traditional type with stones, but a bit too small for the size of the gym. Either a larger sauna or adding a steam room and staying open later in the evenings would up my rating to a 5 star.

I've really enjoyed my time at Gold's (3.5 years). I've built great rapport with management, trainers, and members. There's a wide swath of ages and backgrounds that workout here, which makes it more interesting for me. I have gym buddies in their 20's to 80's (I especially appreciate the kind words from the older generations.)
As with any gym, you get what you put in. So if you bring that positive, supportive energy, you'll get it back in spades. There's enough space and equipment for bodybuilders/fitness competitors, but it's not an environment where you need be a competitor to fit in. You're allowed to have a personality.
In short, most of us are working folk with varying goals. And this Gold's allows you to realize those goals.

The gym is nice. Thereβs plenty of equipment for people who want to work out. Maybe because itβs January and the crowd is heavier with βnew year, new meβ people but there are a lot of teens and young adults taking up equipment and staring at their phones. Same with the sauna. I have yet to be able to use it because it stays full. Maybe Golds should consider an over 40 section with a bigger sauna or do like the pools and blow the whistle and the kids have to get out for 20 minutes!

Friendly staff, plenty of space on the weight floor and separate rooms here and there which come in handy for stretching out. However, I have twice been kicked out of a space by trainers who wanted their client to use it. The trainer I've worked with for years at my home gym never did this - we either reordered our planned exercises or adjusted our equipment choice.

I pretty much just have a membership so I can use their sauna. I'm not really into lifting weights. the music is stupid and too loud so that's another reason I don't usually leave the bathroom when I'm there. the only bad thing is that if you leave your hotdog snack on the treadmill by accident, they will throw it away instead of putting in the lost in found.

Gold's is a very decent gym - there are the expected issues of equipment needing repair and poor gym etiquette (sitting on a bench or machine on your phone while others are waiting for ex.) - the biggest thing that affects me negatively is the volume of the music - too loud most of the time - why?

I visited as a one day guest. For the money, itβs great. On a Sunday morning it wasnβt very busy - I needed a deadlift platform and there were a couple open. A little short on bumper plates but you can supplement with steel plates. Very friendly and professional staff, locker room was small but well maintained. Culture seemed friendly. No complaints.

Just joined and I am thrilled that I found this gym. I check out a bunch of duds prior to finding Goldβs. I moved here from Pittsburgh and was a member of a full service gym and everything else paled in comparison big this location is awesome. Nice clean equipment. Clean locker rooms and lots of space to get fit. Also large saunas for those who love them.
Update 5-10-23 this place is headed down hill fast. Dirty and very unkept. Lots of broken machines often, filthy bathrooms, molded rags that keep flooding from rusted door.

Kyle, the General Manager was very rude and requested that I pay for a day pass while on business with the military. I called prior to arrival and was told all they would have to do is verify I was a member with my local Golds. Very disappointed with the customer service. Golds travel pass allows you to work out for 14 days in a calendar year at any Gold's Gym across the US as long as it is 50 miles or more. The gym needs training although I must admit his attitude became more sour when I said I was here for military business. Mt. Pleasant certainly doesnβt live up to its name when it comes to Golds gym. I drove another 20 minutes out of my way to the location in Charleston. They were extremely accommodating and polite and verified my good standing/membership with ease. I felt welcomed there.

Good amount of equipment but the floors are always dirty. I constantly see bugs and balls of hair on the floor, I even watched a flea land on me and bite me and jump off. I told the staff about it but the place is still dirty. They also play this really annoying βmotivationβ video every 30 mins so loud that you can hear it over your headphones. I would suggest raising prices if you canβt afford to clean the place frequently enough.

Unbelievable with this gym. They are so two faced and knieiving it looks like they will be sued. A girl named something decides to call the other location about a complaint I had in order to retaliate against me, but the complaint was not on the Mt Pleasant Gym. Instead of the owner simply apologizing about the disrespectful, rude, and verbal abusive staff, he terminated my membership and proceeded to call the police and tell me he is getting a restraining order? ahahahaha. Even the cops laughed at him! I would seriously stay away from this gym if you know what I mean. You don;'t want anything to happen to you while you are in this gym! Consider this a forwarning! STAY AWAY FROM THIS GYM! YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT CAN HAPPEN IF YOU INT HERE! SERIOUSLY STAY AWAY FROM THIS GYM! ALL I CAN DO IS WARN YOU!

Never been treated so poorly as a visitor at a gym. My friends and I are in town for a wedding and tried to use the βfree passβ offer on the website for the day. There was no info about it only being for locals, but the guy at the front desk made sure we knew that real quick. It wasnβt a huge deal, we paid the $10 and got our lift in.. But just the tone and manner of the way this guy handled the whole thing was extremely rude, unwelcoming and uncalled for. With all the other gym competition out there, youβd think there would be more effort put into welcoming guests and visitors. All it takes is one good experience and who knows maybe Iβd switch to a golds membership back at home. But instead I have absolutely 0% interest in ever trying golds gym again. Just treat people nice. What comes around goes around...
