I absolutely loved my time at this gym! The staff is incredibly friendly — they always greeted me by name and made me feel so welcome from day one. The whole place is spotless and really well maintained.

The classes are fantastic — I especially looked forward to my weekly Power Yoga with Janice, and Peters and Shakina’s classes were always awesome too. Honestly, all the instructors are amazing. Such a great community and atmosphere — I’ll truly miss it!

My husband and I stopped in over the weekend hoping to get a workout in while searching for a new gym. We were greeted by Jess, who not only set us up with a day pass but also took the time to explain the equipment and show us where to find everything we needed. Thank you, Jess, for going above and beyond!

Honestly, the gym isn’t too bad. I will say most of the equipment is pretty rundown, The environment is kind of weird, and the trainers always are kind of weird. Overall, the gym really isn’t the issue though, My biggest issue Was canceling my membership… I moved out of state and clearly provided evidence of that however it was unacceptable to them. It is now been four months and they refused to accept any of my forms of cancellation, even Though it’s exactly what they’re asking me for! I called and asked to speak to somebody and it’s been another three weeks… I’m gonna have to cancel my card just to make sure that I don’t keep getting charged for a gym that I live over 700 miles away from!!!

Don’t even waste your time trying to cancel , I requested to cancel and it took them 4 weeks to accept it after multiple attempts, now they are trying to charge me 3 extra months when I did not show up one time there!

Been going here for almost 3 in a half years and never have I ever felt so disrespected by an employee! Yelled at me from ACROSS the gym about scanning in at the front desk AFTER HOURS! I've seen people do it before and so have I, first of all the front door scanner wasn't working so I walked in through what was a propped door. And I get it if that is the policy, but its not what youre saying to people its how youre saying and yelling at me from ACROSS stairs master wasn't it. In the midst of him yelling "YOU NEED TO SCAN IN" I was preparing to do just that had he not been impatient and RUDE, So i went to the restroom FIRST and then came back to scan in on his precious computer that he wasnt working at...I definitely had few choice words for him that he rightfully deserved back. I will be asking for a manager ASAP to file a formal complaint. You cant treat people any kind of way and think its okay. It was rude and out of line.

Would be nice if the classes would keep the door closed while in session. Gym members can’t even enjoy their own music with headphones in because their music is so loud for the senior class.

Moved to Rock Hill from Miami FL three years ago and used to train at YouFit which was a very decent gym but not to the level of Gold's. Decided to get back into lifting and signed up here which has been nothing but great since day 1. My only "gripe" is the steam room isn't functional right now but the sauna does plenty good for my recovery periods. Yes the gym is packed very often and thats okay. I personally would rather see many people in the gym getting healthier and staying in shape than not taking their health seriously. I recently signed up for personal training after my first session with M. Avent who is wonderful trainer and approachable person all around. He set me up with Bryson and has been nothing but a great and fun experience as I get further into fitness training. Highly recommend this gym and PT.

All the equipment is run down and has rips and grips missing, half the “amenities” aren’t available because they don’t fix anything. The trainers have been known to be inappropriate. They like to change the fees and then don’t give you warning or ample warning to decide if you want to stay or not before the change is in effect. I wouldn’t recommend this gym. I was only going here because it was affordable and had childcare, but since policies have changed yet again, it’s time for me to go elsewhere.

Watch out what you sign here. I understand you can’t just drop the membership but I moved over the 25 mile limit away and they found an “alternate” route to benefit them and it’s 24.7 miles so I couldn’t leave this gym.

Update1 : Bathrooms are always disgusting.

Moved across the country to AZ and they will not cancel the membership. (Have been trying for weeks). Sent all the correct paperwork proving that I moved and still nothing. Call the location and they say they don’t do anything in store that it is all done online. Online email takes 5-7 business days to even reply. All while I’m still being charged from across the country.

About the most unorganized and dirty gym I've ever been too the staff does nothing to keep this gym in a presentable order weights everywhere locker rooms disgusting about 2 times a week toilets over flowed and all over the ground can't get more then a 2 minute shower before the hot water runs out. only reason this place is surving is people have no choice because there's no other choice.

Was decent, until they made upgrades and now this place is always packed, always busy, never any equipment to use, NO ONE cleans up after themselves which isn’t exactly a gym issue more about the people that go there.
Bathrooms are almost always dirty and the women’s fitness room ALWAYS smells like sewer, it smells so bad.
Not only I have move more than 25 miles always, I have a heart condition that requires me not to do any activity for a while. I have sent proof of my new address which is stated in my contract that I can get out if I was to move 25 miles or more from the location. They clocked me at 23.1 miles which is incorrect because when I look I type in the address from my home, it’s 25 miles. I also have sent in proof from a doctor that I am no longer allowed to work out which is ANOTHER thing stated in my contract , if I have a disability then I can get out of my contract early. They are refusing to take that proof as well. Needless to say I would not recommend that you sign up for a contract through this company & they won’t be getting another cent from me

I have to shout out my personal trainer at Gold’s Gym, Joseph Cabatit, really quick. I’ve been weight training a few years independently and enjoying it, but lately I’ve also been thinking a lot about the overall health and longevity of my body. Weight lifting comes with a lot of benefits (both mentally & physically), but it also comes with its own set of risks - including wear & tear on your body over time.

I hired Joseph for six weeks. My main goals in hiring him were to:

1. Help me mitigate the aforementioned risks as much as possible. Critique my form, my time under tension, my breathing. I really wanted another level of confidence in what I was doing since I would like to continue doing this as long as possible.

2. Make sure that the movements I was doing were valuable from a hypertrophic standpoint. Show me alternative movements that could be more beneficial, assist in mind muscle connection, etc.

I’ve read literature on nutrition, I’ve watched hours upon hours of videos on exercise over the years (ask my wife 😂). The value that comes from an experienced and knowledgeable trainer working with you personally trumps all of that. I feel more locked in and confident in what I’m doing (and how I’m doing it) than I ever have. Take care of your body. Be intentional with your work. You don’t have to be a beginner to hire a trainer. Thank you, man!

Dust everywhere!
They need to do something about the air quality control; all the HVAC registers are full of dust. That can make everyone who trains sick. Fix that problem, there might even be mold in there.

Update 2- a new punching bag has been hung up
Update- the GM emailed me to which I replied asking my questions. Never heard back. I asked the guy at the front desk about replacing the punching bags and he said he doesn’t know if they will because people kick them. Isn’t that what they are for?
You ever heard the old saying about putting lipstick on a pig? Well, it fits this perfectly. I was a member and always felt like the locker room was disgusting. And the owners would never fix things. I cancelled my membership. Then about 7 months later, I found out that there was new ownership. I went back and took a tour to check and saw the locker room was still nasty. I said something to the female employee, but I knew she couldn’t go in there. Against my better judgment, I joined again for another year. Because i desperately need to exercise. Golds has everything you need but the new ownership is still not fixing things when it breaks. I’ve scanned the QT code on the machines that are broken and entered the proper information to let them know. Even uploaded photos. Made sure I put my proper contact info in so they can reach me. Nothing… and now they have 2 punching bags laying in the floor that you can’t hang up because the straps are broken. I even called back when someone was working and made them aware of it almost 2 weeks ago. Golds Gym used to take pride in their trademark logo and facilities. Now, it’s just about who can sell the most memberships. I hope they will read this and start fixing everything or at least reach out to me to discuss.

Staff hung up on me as I was mid-sentence, without even say goodbye, I canceled months ago, staff said there was no further action needed to be taken, it’s now 3 months later with changes still coming out of my account. Staff should be trained on empathy tonality but I understand they feel they don’t get paid enough to care.

Had a trainer that got promoted after me going for roughly 3 months. I signed up for a year, : times a week. After her promotion they switched me to another trainer who couldn’t meet my schedule. Then I was switched to another trainer who also wanted me to meet “his” schedule in stead of working with mine. I finally got tired of it and tried to do their trainer buyout, being that I did do a contract with them, I felt it was the right thing to do. Was told the buyout was 250$. Mind you they have charged me for 8 sessions of training that they didn’t even try to fulfill their end of, so I’m already down 500$. Then they tried to charge me 400$ for the buyout instead of the 250. Now they will get nothing from me! I strongly suggest anyone find trainers anywhere else than from golds gym.

This is not a nice gym. The locker room is disgusting, I wouldn't be caught dead shoeless in there. The steam room and sauna are constantly broken. The new management that came in earlier this year has upgraded some equipment but there are still issues. For example, anytime it rains the roof leaks in multiple places.

Additionally, this gym lied to me about the contract I was signing. I was told if I relocated, that I would be able to get a prorated refund if there was not another Gold's Gym nearby. When I went to get that refund, I was told that the contract I agreed to was signed with the old management team and therefore they could not issue me a refund.

Overall, you have lackluster facilities mixed with a dishonest management team that does not care about customer satisfaction. All they care about is getting you to sign and then doing as little as possible in terms of improvements. Avoid this gym, there are much better ones nearby.

Updated review 10/10/2024
Down from 5 stars to 3, the reason being is they seem to want appearance over function.
A bunch of cosmetics have been done to this gym which is refreshing but I’m here to workout, not to look at the walls. For some reason they have work crews in the facility at peak hours in the afternoon. In the middle of the free-weight room, putting up wall paper, repairing equipment in the middle of the floor that already has limited space at a place that is operational 24/7. The machines in front of the elevated trend-mills are so close together side by side you can barely load plates. Staggering them, would be helpful. Sinks in the bathroom as well as hand-soap are still janky. A lot of the machines STILL have not been repaired. Water fountains are still all busted up as well. If corporate is in the way, then someone from that office needs to get to the location and spend some time there to make better decisions. I’ve mentioned these things to the people up front over the last few months, nothing has changed.

Original Review:
I joined this gym originally around 2018 and it was great but I had to cancel for personal reasons. About 2 months ago I rejoined under the old management of Paul. Paul, had no business running this place. Things constantly broken or out of order, equipment out of service, lights broken, toilets broken, no paper towels and filled with excuses as to why it wasn’t being fixed so he could go back to his phone. It was horrendous.

The new owners have been here a few weeks and what a night and day difference. The change is happening quickly, everything is being restored back to how it was a few years ago and I couldn’t be happier. Keep up the fantastic work!

(Edited once again)
So the gym is under new management and it feels like a completely new place. From the upgrades to equipment, facelift on the facilities, and the amazing staff that works there, this is now a real gym. Stoked to have stayed to see this transformation!
By far the best gym in rock hill!

(Edited 1 year later) still missing carabiners, only 1 adjustable bench, missing weights. Come on management, act like you care at least. People paid good money for yall to not hold up your end of the contract.

Just replace your carabiners/clips!!!! It’s clearly an ongoing complaint and a super easy fix. Tons of cable pulleys missing them and the ones that are there are stretched out and broken gates. Easy fix. Step it up

Super friendly staff though that is very welcoming.

My monthly fee was increased without notice. Before going to the RH location to see what was going on, I checked my messages (voicemail & email inbox - junk folder too). Nothing from Gold's Gym. Then I went to the gym. First, I verified that my contact info was still correct on file, and it was. Then, I informed the young lady that the wrong amount was drafted from my account. She replied, "Oh, the new owner increased the rates for members under a certain plan". I said cool, however, I wasn't informed about the increase. I thought something fraudulent was taking place with my account. A heads-up/notice of some sort should've been given. She then said, "A lot of other members said the same thing". Wow!
On the other hand, if you miss a payment, simply because your card expired, they will hunt you down for the payment (continued calls/messages - voicemail & email). However, they couldn't send a notice about the fee increase!?!?! They shouldn't be allowed to randomly take an amount out of my account that I didn't agree to beforehand. Also, I asked for a copy of my new contract with the new payment terms on it. Of course, she couldn't give me one. That's bad business, in my opinion. Next time, just please give a notice of some sort about a fee increase.

I am very excited for all the new changes happening at Golds with the new owner and management. I was a personal training client, and I had gone through 3 different trainers in a few months time. Finally, Joseph Cabatit became my trainer, and he was incredible! He really pushed me to achieve several goals and personal bests. I highly recommend him for anyone seeking a trainer who really tailors the workouts to what you need and want.

I also love the Spin classes with Jennifer Polston- she will get you going and sweating in no time!!

I have been a Gold’s Gym member for quite a while and there were many times, before the last few months, that I thought about cancelling all of my memberships! The gym was not being well maintained and it felt like all of the equipment was falling apart/unusable, but I stayed with it because I had an amazing trainer, Joseph! He has helped me reach many of my goals and he always found a way to make our sessions great, even with the gym in a state of disrepair! Now that the gym is under new management/ownership I’m glad I stuck with it and I look forward to continuing the awesome work that is taking place with Joseph! He is patient and understanding so if you need a trainer to push you, without being pushy, go sign up to train with Joseph today!

I have been going to Gold's Gym since 2019 and working with their personal training group. I have been through a half dozen of personal trainers until Joseph Cabatit. He has been the best, consistent trainer that I have had. Although going for training every Saturday (should surgery set me back a bit), I just didn't' really see results until I had a consistent Trainer that kept consistency, watched and corrected my form, tolerates Saturdays and lateness, and continued to challenge me. With some re-balancing of hormones, nutritional help and Joseph, I have lost over 50 pounds in a year and half with a BMI of 24 and haven't felt greater at almost 53. Thank you Joseph and Gold's Gym for re-establishing a solid personal trainer program.

** review edit
First I only gave a good review cause the manager almost makes you do it . I have text proof of him basically begging for a good review , second I went into the building to cancel my membership to insure it was canceled , yet they still charge me ??? I call to ask why , Dominque said I can’t only cancel by going onto the app ?? But the gentleman running the front desk asked why I was leaving I told him why and he said I was cancels . What happen ??? Very spacious, clean , friendly environment. Staff was very helpful and made sure I felt welcomed .

It is impossible to cancel with Peak Serve, they claim in your contract if you move 25 miles away you just need to provide proof of address but they’re impossible to contact via phone or email and make the process difficult and arduous. If you actually speak to one of Peak Payments representatives on the phone they are rude and unhelpful with no answers other than to email. They claim they send emails they never sent and provide no proof to their claims. They bill you extra months after you cancel even after your provide proof of your move to another state. I would recommend any other gym so you don’t have to deal with Peak Serve because they’re predatory and impossible to deal with.

Been a member since it started out at the omni gym on the other side of town. be careful when you go now, you have people trying to lift dumbells to heavy for them and just throw or drop them on the floor and have seen them bounce into lifting next to them without care. Couple of times there is a smell of cheap weed in the locker room, and you have 3 or 4 people blarring music on their phones and they aren't even around listening to it. I can see why the Office Gym closed, and if this continues I can see this gym doing the same. It a completely different atmosphere now.

I’ve been here for going on a year and some change and was here for the previous owner who did not care about up keeping the gym equipment let alone the bathrooms and locker rooms.
Since the new owners have taken over I can already tell a huge shift in the atmosphere having people that care in charge, already repaired equipment and adding new equipment, fixing the locker rooms and bathrooms. I was considering moving gyms before the take over, but now I think I will be staying here!

Golds just got bought out by the office gym which closed down and now all the office gym members go here. I’m not happy about it.

They bought some new equipment and that’s nice but the new members coming over from the office gym are not ideal. So far they’re acting like inconsiderate gym goers that don’t clean up their weights after they’re done using them and don’t clean their equipment off, again for the person using the equipment after them to deal with. The gym is also full of “invisible lat bro’s” who are very bad about leering while you workout. I’ve never felt obligated to use the lady’s golds room the entire time I’ve worked out here but I’m definitely going to be utilizing it now after seeing how these office gym transfers behave and treat the gym equipment.

Definitely not opposed to finding a new gym all together.

This place is dirty and in desperate need of equipment maintenance. Men’s locker room has only about half lights working, filthy, musty smell, broken urinal for months, no paper towels. Manager keeps expressing strong political views in front of guests. Not sure how this place is ok with Golds Gym franchise standards.
On the positive side - good value, large facility, not busy.

It got even worse… they are now using kitty litter on the carpet.

No maintenance at all. Not enough carabiners for every cable, and some are basically useless. Nearly EVERY single machine is broken in some way. Upholstery is cracked, pin cables are broken, and the only good leg extension machine has been out of service for the entire time I’ve been a member. Management clearly does not care one bit about running a gym, and only think about the $. They do have some solid machines and 24 hours is nice, but the negatives heavily outweigh the positives. You are certainly better off paying $10 a month for Planet Fitness.

this gym is really nice. it’s big, doesn’t feel overcrowded and the equipment is in good condition. the women’s locker room is really big and nice- it’s always clean. our 1 year old comes with us and goes to the child care. the child care center is also bigger than what we were used to at our previous gym. the girls there literally welcomed our son with open arms, which was such a comfort for us. we also really like that the gym is open 24 hours so we were able to go on holidays. the people at the front desk were super friendly and helped us get a membership quickly. we love it so far!

This gym and the management staff takes advantage of the elderly. My mother’s credit card expired one month over the summer as she was taking care of her very ill father resulting in a missed payment. The gym sent an obscene balance, $599.80, to collections. This amount is well in excess of the one missed monthly payment $29.99. There was no attempt to contact her via written letter, email, nor phone call to let her know she had a past due balance. When discussed with the manager, he was completely aloof. Avoid Gold’s Gym like the plague, they exploit the elderly. #ElderlyAbuse

I’m new to the area and very impressed with the gym. It’s nice and huge and kept clean. The equipment is very much updated and such a peaceful environment. My only downside is I was working out on an ab machine and some guy ran up to me yelling “maam you’re using it wrong, you pivot to one side twice at a time, but you can’t swing both ways.” Apparently I was “using it wrong”. I’m not sure if he was working there or the manager as he wasn’t wearing a tag, he disappeared very quickly after scolding me and caught me off guard (very embarrassing). This was early Saturday morning.

Update, apparently the person who ran up to me yelling was the manager because he and his wife were there when I came in to be a guess with my golds gym pass from another city. I was really turned off by this place as I was asked to sign a waiver, the girl at the front made a copy of my drivers license and she and the wife manager said they would be holding onto my license while I workout and also every time I work out as a guest for the next 14 visits. I didn’t feel comfortable with this at all as my license is an official government document that I can barely do anything without. They already had a copy of it and have no authorization whatsoever to keep hold of it. The box is sitting right up front and easy for just anyone to grab. I let them know that there were other review complaints of them keeping peoples license and not even bothering to call them. I like the gym here but the management style has really put a bad taste in my mouth. I left with my ID and will not be coming back.

Just a big 'no' from me.

If you're going to use broken equipment and don't have access to a better maintained gym, then sure, it's fine.

Bathrooms are clean Ill give them that.

Whatever you do, do not sign up for training here, they have zero customer service- both corporate lines for 'lighthouse management' and golds gym do not work- all the mailboxes are full, they have no email. It's out of control.

Whatever money you pay for training expect to lose it.

They have a very high turnover rate of trainers for good reason. It all starts at the top.

I’ve been coming to this gym for over a year and it is disgusting. They never clean the place and the manager could care less. The cleaners talk about not having the right products to clean the equipment compared to other local gyms, and when told the manager he does nothing.

Wish I would have read these reviews before I signed up.
The “manager” pitched me this “deal” .. saying it’s cheaper to do the 24 month contract versus the 12 months (almost $30 cheaper) so I agreed. Then I talk to my friends who are members and find out they pay the same amount I pay but they are only on 12 months contracts. Now I’m stuck overpaying for 24 months when half the members here are probably paying less.

Be careful they are tricky and only care about their numbers.

Had me sign my name on the digital thing to initially sign up. Didn't know I was signing a 3 year contract without seeing it first. Shady business. Can't even buy myself out of my contract. Half the equipment is broken and they never have basic stuff in stock, towels or even hand soap. Place is a dump.

Clearly this place has a problem with their cancelations, because they convince you that you will have a "free trial" for one or two months, then $40 a month and then they will charge your account before that time is up,not only that. They convenience you to get a trainer, who also charges.over $100! (Same, billing company)
They will call and text if you don't pay(certainly didn't call if you missed an appointment) but once you want to cancel they wanna pull out the contract that they convenienced you to sign and say your stuck in a 2 year contract...how fair is that? Do not workout here unless you are willing to get scammed for months at a time.

Management here is absolutely horrible. Tina is the most unprofessional person I've ever met and Paul let's her get away with screaming and yelling at people because it's his wife. It is absolutely the most toxic unprofessional gym management I've ever seen. They don't even attempt to take care of broken things. Womens bathroom sink has leaked for almost a year with no resolution! The other staff is wonderful but with Tina and Paul there, Golds will NEVER keep members.

This is my initial review: (please read below for an update 2 years later)

Overall a great facility with lots of variety. Cons: only 2 squat racks and 1 deadlift platform. Personal training is a joke. The trainers watch new lifters perform the exercises with bad form and just let it happen. There is no focus on mind-muscle connection and actually targeting specific muscle groups. The only focus is moving the weight from point A to B.

My current review:

The gym itself isn't bad. Good enough equipment in decent shape.

The facilities aren't the best. There's either no paper towels or no spray to wipe down the equipment. About 70% of the time, one of the 2 stalls in the men's restroom is out of service. The showers have black mold as of 2 weeks ago. It looks like the gym is cleaned about once a month.

Now the management, it's trash. The primary manager, Paul, doesn't care about the gym in the slightest. He only cares about the dollars that come in the door. And the personal training is still a joke.

Find a different gym, trust me.

I've been a member of Gold's Gym since 1999...a loyal, very supportive customer! I've always told my friends how much I loved this gym....still do, but not happy at all with what they are trying to do to me.
This summer July 31, my bank changed everyone's debit card from Visa to Mastercard...so my draft obviously didn't go through starting August, which I didn't even notice because it's a draft. My monthly payment is $29.99.
Since the draft didn't go through starting August, that's $149.95. Gold's Gym turned me over to a collection agency! Gold's Gym never called me. I certainly wasn’t trying to avoid making a $29.99 payment.
Today I got a notice from Aldous & Associates, Attorneys at Law that Gold's Gym turned my account over for collections ...now saying I owe $959.66.
I called @Aldous & Associates, Attorneys at Law and they hung up on me when I tried to explain what had happened!! The guy wouldn't even let me finish talking!
When I called Gold's Gym they said there is nothing they can do to help me!!! The manager said PEAK called for collections....not Gold's. My phone silences calls of unknown contacts. No where on my bank draft does it say Peak...it has it listed as Gold's Gym.
It's ALL a complete MESS!!!!
It's ridiculous to expect a member to pay $959.68 for a $149.95 bill. Guess it doesn't help to be a loyal member!!!! I would think twice before signing a contract with Gold's Gym if I were you!
I still love this gym. I sure hope they can resolve this issue!

Went here for over 1 years, I paid a year in advance. A few times I went to the gym, maybe 4-6 times, and the door was not functional. I went after hours so there wasn't anyone there to take a look, no number or anything.

Equipment is good and they have a good selection of functional training equipment so there are no issues there but some of it is worn and dated.

This complaint is less about this location and more about the franchise, the membership and contract is complete garbage. There are tons of hidden fees and charges that they don't tell you about, you have to look very closely. Gym's should be easier and more straight forward. Have since went to a new gym without contracts.

Need to fix locker room.

Pros: Updated gym to 24 hours with access through app and got rid of key chain scan cards. Gym has about everything you need including landmine bar on squat rack and dumbbells going to around 130 lbs. Has sauna room but have avoided it due to possibility of being bacteria cesspool.

Cons: It is dark and gloomy (Add some daylight lights) throughout especially in the locker room. There is not enough light to change. You are battling the shadows trying to find your stuff in a locker that is tall but too narrow and deep to hold your dufflebag. Then you pull out your bag to put on a bench, and they are too low, wobble back and forth, and are too narrow to hold your bag.

Pool area was removed and filled with concrete for more equipment but they never renovated and installed HVAC, only having ceiling fans causing it to be very hot back there in the summer when they decided to leave the doors wide open.

Otherwise just minor inconveniences, broken equipment here and there, broken shower accessories, no longer having towels available to borrow, and the occasional/bi-monthly not having any paper towels or spray. They also decided to change the soap dispenser in the bathroom but kept the old ones there? Meanwhile, there are two dispensers at each sink and 75% of them are empty most of the time.

The gym is fine, but the online people handling payments are crooks. :( I was told I wasn't going to be charged for extra things by requesting it months in advance. They went around and charged me extra anyway. I have our exchange in writing. My father had a stroke this summer and then I got a new job. Both circumstances, the folks online don't care and have zero sympathy. I understand it is a business, but they're brutal.... I requested to quit personal training about 60 days in advance and they still charged me anyway. I'm just trying to save $$$ to move out on my own and the online people handling payments are making it increasingly difficult to save.

I was in Rock Hill for 8 months and my best experience was every time I walked in the door I would see Jaelyn and her smile greeting me as I came in. Even on the worst days she would be so helpful by just giving a great smile. She’s super friendly to everyone that comes through the door and you can just tell that everyone really likes her!! I’m giving her 5 stars along with Allison in personal training. I ran an LA Fitness for a long time and my job was not to just sign people up to hit my numbers, my job was to interact with the members as well, and unfortunately at this Gold’s they just sign you up and forget your name. I give management 1 star, it’s crazy, but to hear and watch management belittle an employee who is just 18 years old is quite difficult to watch, especially when you know she is doing an incredible job interacting with members. Because GREAT customer service is what keeps people coming back and Jaelyn absolutely does that!! I always see her going to do laundry in the back (towels for members), cleaning windows, and interacting in only a professional manner with members. I give HER 5 stars!! Thanks Jaelyn for making my experience so much better at Gold’s, I felt like just a number until you started there 🙂

I really tried to like this gym but the unsafe conditions and the lack of attentive management made me mistrust them with my health and safety. The customer service has always shotty but i ignored. But then I got a several pieces of wood stuck in my leg from splinted wood in the sauna when no one was on duty. I called the manager next day, left a message and even spoke to a manager after calling again ( no returned call) who took my contact and said corporate would call me. When i went to follow up from the call in person Tina told me that they were on break in the corporate office....I have not recieved a call or an apology and this happened about a week ago. I was alarmed that even though it was in the unstaffed hours there was no person to call in case of emergency. I had to have one piece of wood surgically removed and there was no transparency about how they would handle the situation. I will not be renewing my membership and would advise you not to trust them with your health and safety either.

I would give a 0 if I could. Management is horrible! They also took advantage of my newly 18 year old and had her electronically sign things, only stating what they were, not allowing her to read it when she made a point not to sign a contract… only to find out there was a contract in there after being emailed copies. For months now she’s being charged a membership she isn’t even comfortable using after the behavior of management here. Worst customer service I have ever encountered! Paul was unhelpful with an “oh well” attitude and refused to give me anyone name or contact above him to help resolve this in any way. We will now have to go the legal route with Golds and Peak to stop this money coming out for 3 years and get back what she is owed. You can not lie, charge, and then make a young female uncomfortable to be at your gym and then continue to charge. Despicable is an understatement. I’ll also be going to the media. These men are not going to make my young daughter feel uncomfortable. Disgusting.

I called and they had it.
I went to pick it up and she had a box with several other drivers licenses in that box.
I asked her since she had my phone number why didn't she call me to let me know? She said it wasn't her policy to do that. I told her she should call the other drivers license names to inform them, she said it's not her problem.
Ill never join this gym ever because they did this!

I was a member for 2 years prior to covid, job moved me away, I had stop by the gym to cancel my membership, was not even open for a few weeks. Then finally stop back and spoke with nice young lady and said I would like to cancel my membership, she explained I would have to pay another month, I said fine. Come to find out they had been hitting my credit card for a year! My fault for not checking, but then to try to place collection on me!!! If you need money that bad, then fine. I hope you sleep well doing business like this! I will never join a Golds gym again!

So I have called and never called me back again and they hit my card again, I cant believe this place, I don't know what else to, I guess I will call local news channels at this time and show my documented emails, phone calls and file complaints with consumer protection bureau, and BBS. I had joined this Gym back in May. Great staff and great environment. I ended up joining the personal training program they offer with my son and it was all great. At the start of sep I decided to come to the decision to end the personal training sessions. In the process of all of this my son tested positive for covid. I reached out to peaks to explain I needed to end the PT sessions but 1 they only communicate via Email and 2 they take their time to respond. It took a whole week and a half to get a response telling me I had to wait a 30 days before it was canceled and pay another fee for it for the following month. By the time this happened I ended up testing positive for covid myself. I'm going back and forth explaining to them in emails that I cannot come in for sessions because I have covid but they just ignore the fact basically making it my problem and not theirs. I requested a call that I never got and now I'm forced to pay for a service that I cannot receive. Talk about shady business, this is definitely it. Peaks does not care if a covid positive member comes in to their facility all they care about is taking your money.

Impossible to cancel, management keeps pretending to forget to follow up, or not be available on the phone, or to not see emails after confirming correct email address. Changes in management add to lack of communication and making membership cancellation impossible.

The company responsible for collecting payments, however, seems to be excellent at trying to get a hold of you, and will even call your emergency contact person (meant ONLY for medical emergencies) to try to reach you and collect membership fees for a membership that should have been cancelled 6 months ago!!!

it’s an above average facility for more experienced lifters. although a lot of people are complaining about the cancellation process it’s because apparently grown folks aren’t able to distinguish that a contract is legally binding whether it be a membership, lease, rent, etc... If you do your due diligence and actually follow up to cancel it’s a fairly simple process if you’re not entitled. AVOID THIS GYM. My review is going to be long, but read this before you consider a membership here!

My experience at this gym has been bad from the start.

First of all, upkeep of the gym. I signed up for Golds Gym in Rock Hill back in July of 2020 when I moved here from Arizona. I noticed on our tour, one of the fluorescent lights by the treadmills was flickering, but I didn't think much of it. 4 months later, that light is still buzzing and flickering. I come work out every morning at 5am and get ready in the locker room for work. Two of the four fluorescent lights by the sinks in the locker room have been out for at least a month and the soap dispensers are always out and rarely changed. On weekends I come in during staffed hours, and I have never seen any of the staff doing any cleaning, and they don't enforce the mask rule. They only sit at the desk on their phones and barely notice when someone walks up to them for help.

Most recently, there have been two incidents that have completely turned me off. There is one female trainer who I see every morning when I'm in the locker room, we usually share a polite hello and that's it. On election day, she came in and went on a religious tirade about how if one of he candidates wins, the world is going to end (according to her pastor). She went on for about 5 minutes and I felt absolutely backed into a corner and was astonished by the lack of professionalism.

All of that aside, what happened to me this weekend was the absolute last straw. Saturday morning, my boyfriend, best friend (who is not a member), and myself walked into Golds Gym just as their staffed hours were starting at 8AM. Their doors were still locked, so we buzzed in with my boyfriends key fab. When my boyfriend and I signed up for the gym, we were told that with our family plan, we had guest privilege's. So he buzzed in, and we walked into the gym. We were stopped by desk staff who explained that I had to register my guest and pay a $15 fee. I apologized for the misunderstanding and got my guest registered and charged the fee to my account. She also had to check me in which was no big deal. When we signed up, it was my understanding we had a family plan and only needed the one fab, but again that was a misunderstanding, so I was happy to sign in. All of that aside, we worked out, and about an hour later I got an email from the General Manager, Quaden Lee stating that I broke the rules and my account will be SUSPENDED until I pay a $100 fee. I spoke to Quaden and explained it was all a misunderstanding, a desk attendant explained everything to me, I got signed in, and paid for my guest, so no rules were broken and there must have just been a hiccup in communication. Quaden proceeds to tell me "you didn't know you had to check in a guest, what do you think this is, planet fitness?". I've simply never brought a guest to the gym before and thought I had guest privilege's. He proceeds to tell me "you never had guest privilege's so don't try to lie. you broke the rules and stole money from the company by not checking in when you come in". Not only was Quaden hostile over the phone, but he accused me of stealing when I pay my dues on time every month. So I'm being charged $100 for ACCIDENTALLY breaking a rule.

Quaden's story changed from "you almost didn't sign in and tried to bring in a guest so because of that you are being charged" to "you paid for your guest so that's irrelevant, you're being charged because you come in every morning and don't sign in at the front desk, you just key in with your boyfriends key fab". So not only can Quaden not keep his story straight, it is my impression he just wants money.

On top of that, over the phone he told me if I wasn't happy with this policy, I could cancel my membership for $500+. He is all but pushing me out the door of this gym. He then proceeds to tell me he "doesn't care if he loses two members and a potential member (my friend who joined us) because that's what it takes to enforce policy".

This gym and their staff DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU.

I've been a member with Golds Gym over two years. I decided to purchase a (PT) package with Mike he explained my package very well and did not push anything 3 months in we communicate very well as life does happen he works with me through my situations. I currently train with Bri shes definitely the best personal trainer I've ever had if your looking for qualified trainers Bri and Mike are the best I recommend this gym to anyone. I would also like to mention Q hes the manager always helpful answers any questions I have.

Went there tonight (10/29/2020). Since it’s Friday I had a friend with me as a guest. Was told at the front desk they don’t allow guests anymore because of the COVID-19. Normally this changes should be announced. Anyway, I asked for an exception because we didn’t know and there was really no more than 10 cars on the parking lot. Obviously the gym was empty. The guy said NO and offered us to buy a day pass. So this is not a safety concern it’s just a way to up-sale right? It’s a shame that people try to profit from the disaster going around. It’s not a bad gym. But the management (staff) is definitely not customer oriented. Will not recommend this place

Canceled my membership because we moved further away, provided proof of relocating to cancel membership and they still decided to charge me over $500. Kept telling them we relocated and sent proof and it was basically ignored. The ABC financial people were rude and it still went to collections. They said we needed to dispute it with them by mail. 🙄
On top of that when I was a member there, the employees that would open the gym frequently would not even show up on time.
10/10 would not recommend. Go to LA fitness down the street or Planet Fitness.

Needed to renew my membership but they said you can’t do it on the app i need to do it in person. Okay cool, I called yesterday to ask if I come in today how long do I have before staff leaves and the rep told me I have until 9pm to renew before staff leaves. Came in at 8pm on the dot and the guy at the desk said they don’t renew memberships past eight. Waste of gas and poor communication. I’ll just go back to lifetime fitness since this such an issue for them.

I started going here about 2 two years ago, and was completely overwhelmed. They have everything a great gym needs, but I had no idea how to do anything. I recently started working with a trainer there, Justina, and my whole gym experience has changed. She’s taught me how to use machines, how to work my muscles without them, and even how to eat right to lose the weight I desire. I stayed at gold’s through my pregnancy and the pandemic and they’ve been nothing but incredible to my family and me the entire time. The staff remembers each person and it’s just a nice experience any time. I’m finally seeing results in my body and confidence and I owe that to Gold’s but every more so to Justina.

Been to many many gyms and experienced in what it will be like and it all starts at the start.Friendly staff,24 hour $15 workout for the day pass which I can go again tomorrow early..BIG PLUS..asked if they had cleaning positions and the girl got my information without being annoyed..another plus..members looked comfortable working out ,had cleaning towels and spray.Bathrooms were very nice.Machines are upgraded, all benches were spread out.Forget the negative comments and check it out yourself.

I have been told by others that this place is not professional, they will do sales pressure to get their members to buy personal training and make it hard to cancel.

Unprofessional staff. They DO NOT keep up on cleanliness of their gym. Any gym I go to, I’ve always tried my best to leave it cleaner than how I found it. Unfortunately with this gym, it’s always dirty. Trash always overflowing. Empty paper towel dispensers. Disinfecting spray bottles either broken or empty. Paper towels everywhere in the floor as I am constantly picking them up and throwing them away as I walk by them. They also decided (from pressure by the local city of rock hill) to enforce the wearing of masks when you walk in the door but you can then take it off while you’re working out? Makes no sense logically. Especially when they can’t even take the trash out when it needs to be taken out. How can people who can’t even take their own trash out, enforce people to wear masks? I wouldn’t want them to tell me what I should be doing for my health, when they can’t even perform simple, necessary cleanliness tasks. I rate Zero stars.
