While we specialize in Olympic lifting, we also offer general fitness and powerlifting programs. We would love to help you reach your goals!

I dropped into this gym at the end of August 2022. I am an Olympic weightlifter that has been training for a few years and I tend to travel a bit.
This space is wonderful-- plenty of platforms, racks, bars and bumpers with a ton of open space. I felt very comfortable lifting here and had everything I needed. It even had showers in the bathrooms!
The head coach is really nice and very responsive-- he helped me get signed up and find anything. The members are so nice and introduced themselves and cheered for me!
This gym is definitely a place to pop in for a great lift in the Greenville area.

I have been working with James, owner/head coach, with getting help on my snatches and jerks over the past month. He is very knowledgeable and detailed oriented on technique as well as spotting issues quickly in order for you to improve. Because of his training sessions, I am beginning to be more aware on my form that helps me on my lifts in my CrossFit classes. Totally recommend for anyone to go to James!

Whenever there is a Greenville Weightlifting clinic at our gym, I always sign up. The pals here are top-notch and offer supreme knowledge on those technical lifts. There is no favoritism and they offer great help at any skill level. I can clearly see the progress after lifting with them. They are willing to help you at any skill level, from brand new to the professional level. They give you step-by-step instruction and personalized attention. I previously worked out at another gym that was not affiliated with CrossFit but followed CrossFit style workouts and lifts. During that time I was told to stay far away from CrossFit gyms as they were untrained coaches/owners, not certified, and taught improper form. After being there for about 4+ years, I moved further away and stopped going. One of my coworkers found Lions Road and suggested I check them out. I was a bit apprehensive but decided to give it a shot because it was right next to work and very convenient. From my very first workout, I realized that everything I had been told was completely false and in fact quite the opposite. James cares deeply that you have the right form, you stretch the right amount, and that you have a solid workout. While I thought I was doing well, I have relearned a few lifts and already feel 100% better than I did at my previous gym. If you are looking for a solid gym that cares and teaches the right way to do things, you donβt need to go anywhere. Plus they are just in a sweet location right in Hampton Station! Enjoy a taco or something when you are done. (Just not before or you might regret it!)

I switched to Lionβs Roar hoping to get better coaching for the olympic lifts, realizing thatβs what I really enjoyed after a couple years of CrossFit at another gym. Havenβt been disappointed! James has a genuine enthusiasm for weightlifting and has helped me significantly (!!) with my technique; the community is amazing (even toward people like me who donβt partake in the CrossFit classes ;)); and LRC has oly-specific equipment that most gyms donβt. Iβve hung around the gym enough now to see that James cares sincerely about his athletes and goes out of his way to help them succeed. I also really appreciate the way he runs a class, so that everyone gets one on one coaching with cues and movements that are varied based on each athleteβs ability. Seriously, a fantastic gym - I always look forward to my workouts here!

I'm in my 40's & haven't worked out in a very long time. I was hesitant to join an 8 week bootcamp at Lion's Roar, but some friends talked me into it. I'm proud to say I'm currently in my 8th week! Sara is wonderful & helps you work at your own level and progress at your own speed. I've done things I never thought I could do. I was previously a member of another group in which I loved the training and the results but the cost was outrageous. I am pretty new to Lions Roar but I already know this is a place that I can obtain the same results if not better at a quarter of the price. On top of that I feel comfortable there and welcomed by all. Sara is awesome, knowledgeable, helpful and an most of all an inspiration. I want legs like hers lol. Great place great people. Came here for a groomsmen workout pre wedding and they took us through a solid hour workout. The place has great equipment and is clean and well organized. The staff is friendly and take good care of you. Enjoyed the experience and would reccomend it to anyone in greenville

Best of all worlds!! James Page and Lion's Roar Crossfit has helped me achieve fitness goals in a very short time. James' emphasis on form first has prevented injury and made me comfortable with difficult movements in and outside of the gym. I have tried many forms of exercise and different fitness facilities that all had their drawbacks. This has been the most effective by far. Coach and owner James Page (who prefers to be addressed by the nickname I gave him, The Machine) is one of many professional, patient and knowledgeable coaches at Lion's Roar. I walked in the door with zero lifting or CrossFit experience, but each coach worked with me to learn the basics of each lift and to ensure that my form was good from the start. I also have a previous history with a couple injuries, but each coach modified or scaled workouts to fit my individual needs. In addition to the excellent coaches, the community at Lion's Roar is very special. I am pretty husky and don't have a lot of experience in a gym environment, but from my first workout to the last, the other members kept me motivated and gave me a lot of positive encouragement. In all honesty, you're not going to find a better environment, or better people to work with to meet your fitness goals - whatever they may be.

Lions Roar has been incredible working with me since I have come back from Double Hip Replacement surgery. Olympic weightlifting with coach James Page and the team members really keep me motivated, goal-driven, and just gives me something to do outside of work.
