About the Club

With a Bachelors in Strength and Conditioning from Limestone University, Nick Shappee works side-by-side with athletes of all ages to help each individual athlete reach their peak competitive performance goals in both one-on-one training or group training sessions. He focuses on improving his client's speed, strength, flexibility, stamina, and stability to enhance their athletic development while improving their sport specific skills.

I’ve been with Gunner Fitness- Lift and Fit Classes for five months, and it’s been a game-changer. After years of trying various group fitness classes and focusing on cardio/HIIT, I realized my approach wasn’t working. At 37, I knew my body needed something different, so I decided to learn real weight training.

I started with zero experience, having never lifted a barbell, but I was ready to commit. Both Coaches Nick and Sammy create an encouraging, results-driven environment. They emphasize proper technique, offer tailored guidance, and genuinely care about your progress. The smaller class sizes feel personal, definitely a ton of one-on-one training within a group setting.

The workouts are intense, but the sense of accomplishment and strength I’ve gained is unmatched. In five months, I’ve lost weight, built muscle, and gained confidence in my training. If you’re serious about getting stronger and improving your health, I highly recommend Gunner Fitness.

My girls have been taking acro/gymnastics lessons from Sammy for several weeks as a supplement to their dance instruction and I highly recommend her! She is very knowledgeable and meticulous about technique while also being fun and motivating. They are definitely stronger and have already mastered several new skills. Most importantly they love their time with Sammy and always have fun!

My granddaughters aged 7 and 9 have been working with Sammy for a few weeks to develop better conditioning, strength, agility, and acrobatic skills to improve their competitive dance performance. We have been amazed in the skills they have developed working with Sammy for such a short time. Not only is Sammy a wonderful teacher dedicated to ensuring the girls develop proper technique, she also makes every seesion fun and appropriate for their skill level while pushing them out of their comfort zone to learn new skills. They can't wait to see Sammy every week and always leave with big smiles knowing they are mastered some new skill. I simply cannot recommend Sammy highly enough!

I love coming to this gym! Everyone is so pleasant with smiles ready to help you tackle your goals. The trainers are extremely knowledgeable in all fitness areas like Olympic weight lifting & personal training. They also offer group classes. The gym is always so clean, and all the equipment is new. Wow, I just got done training with Coach Nick and he is absolutely the best trainer I have trained with. He inspires me to become my best self. I’m only 3 weeks in and wasn’t expecting that i would progress this much. We self doubt ourselves so when my chiro/massage therapist told me whatever i was doing to keep doing it because it’s straightening out my back. I’ve had poor posture my whole life so i focused on my back when i would go to the gym but the muscles that i needed to be strong are the ones that have improved so much in less than a month 🙌🏼 thank you Nick i am excited to increase in confidence as well!

I found Nick when my teenage son needed a youth trainer. I quickly realized Nick is not only exceptional at training our youth in this community safely and effectively but also adults at any stage of their fitness journey. My personal experience has come from a year of training 1:1. My mobility has significantly increased and my strength has significantly increased. After 4 ACL reconstructions, mcl tears, meniscus repairs, weight gain and desperately trying to figure out how to get strong again without re-injuring myself…. my mental health took a huge beating. After explaining to Nick that I don’t want to be a competing athlete again, but just to feel healthy, strong and lose some weight; he was unexpectedly far more understanding and compassionate than I could have ever hoped for. His knowledge on the fundamental repercussions from surgeries are helpful, enough to know what I should and shouldn’t avoid or ease into. He NEVER pushes me beyond the point of pain, he pays ATTENTION to quality movements, and is ridiculously passionate at what he does. My strength is coming back slowly but most importantly, I move through life happier again because I finally have someone who WANTS and IS helping me get my active life back. You cannot put a price on that.
