I have two young daughters who go to GAC. I've really been happy with the skills they're learning, and how excited they are about gymnastics in general. The facilities are clean, and the coaches are really helpful and encouraging.

Extremely Unprofessional Experience with Co-Owner – Charleston Location
I had a deeply disappointing experience at the Charleston location of this gym, particularly with the co-owner. From the moment I raised a concern about being charged for a membership I never knowingly signed up for, I was met with defensiveness, accusations, and a complete lack of professionalism.
The website was unclear and difficult to navigate—I even needed a staff member’s help to complete the sign-up process. At no point was it made obvious that I was enrolling in a paid membership, nor was any fee explained to me. When I tried to clarify this after the fact, I was met not with understanding, but with rude behavior, false assumptions (including being mistaken for someone else), and even threats of small claims court over a $60 charge. Rather than resolving the issue respectfully, the co-owner doubled down, discredited my character, and handled the situation in a way that was completely unprofessional and frankly shocking for someone representing a business.
This experience has made it abundantly clear how poorly this gym handles communication, accountability, and customer service. There are plenty of other gyms in the Charleston area that offer adult classes—and I’m confident many of them would treat you with far more respect and basic decency. Based on this experience alone, I will not return and strongly urge others to consider alternatives.

We have a 5 year old and 3 year old enrolled here and we have nothing but good things to say. They are challenged and supported.
Faith is my 3 year olds coach and she is AMAZING with the kids. They learn discipline and have so much fun.

If your'e looking for a professional atmosphere that can easily help you child not only advance their gymnastic skills but help with confidence overall then this is THE PLACE. We've been going here for over a month and have noticed a considerable improvement in our daughters core strength, skills and her overall happiness.

My daughters love their gymnastics with their great coaches. Not only are the classes fun and engaging, the owners, Val & Rebecca, give so much back to the community! Food drives and giving sponsorships to local title 1 students, just to name just a few. We drive from Summerville and it is 100% worth it.

The instructors are very organized and helpful in building the children's abilities and attitudes. They also help explain their methods to us parents.

I have enjoyed working with the owners and coaches in developing our own programs. They are courteous and professional and selflessly offer help to me whenever I need it.
Top Notch organization.

Horrible management and ownership. Daughter spent years here and we invested a lot of time and money only for own daughter to be bullied, called out in front of her peers too where she finally quit. Great job Coaches! Even tried the adult approach with the owners and got no where. Horrible business model.

My daughter enjoys it. The coaches train the girls very well. I love their conditioning skills to get the girls ready for competitions. The coaches provide great feedback.

Not a great experience. Gave the place a try for a few months but ultimately decided on another gym VERY CLOSE BY. Huge difference in attitude and training, daughter is now excited to attend now that we switched gyms. Then to top it off the gym charged me for an additional month due to a 30 day notice cancellation policy. If we are not happy at that gym then why would we want to go for another month? Very dirty way to steal another months payment from people. Would not recommend this place!

We had our daughter’s birthday at the West Ashley location and Chelsea and Rebecca were the absolute most amazing people to have running the party. All of the kids had so much fun.

I can’t say enough nice things about GAC!! My daughter is on their Platinum team and Coach Tim is absolutely amazing! His professionalism, responsiveness, and coaching are like none I’ve ever seen. My daughter learned three new skills the first week she was there!! He is always available to answer questions and even responds to emails on weekends!! We have really been very impressed with Coach Tim and GAC as a whole!

We had my daughters birthday party here and the owner was so disrespectful. We had no help in the party room and it was so dirty with visible dust everywhere. The actual gym portion with the younger coaches was great, but at the end of the party the owner noticed that the coaches went over their time (which they stated was wrong on their schedule that they use). The owner hustled the kids out of the gym saying “times up kids, party is over”. Did not say a word to us as the parents and hurried us to clean up and get out. Never once asked us how the party was or anything. I’m glad my daughter had fun doing gymnastics but would never go back and I will not be recommending this place to anyone.

GAC is simply the best. There is just no other competition in the area!! (there is, and we’ve tried it), but GAC is the whole package: unparalleled coaching staff, a top notch facility, a dedication to your child as a whole person, a commitment to safety (both COVID and not), a variety of fun programs, as well as excellent communication. My daughter has been on their competitive team since age 8 in 2015, to age 14 currently. She took a long break to sort out some mental blocks and the owners and staff welcomed her back to the team with enthusiasm and professionalism. For younger gymnasts in recreational gymnastics, to more serious competitive gymnasts (and especially those in the crucial adolescent years), Gymnastics Academy of Charleston should be your pick for safety, fun and excellent gymnastics training.

Parents be careful. Your son or daughter will be under contract similar to a lease agreement. If you wish to terminate the contract you will be held to a series of fees. Be careful.

We love GAC. My son (10) is on a team (he joined after having so much fun at the gymnastics camp) and my daughter (5) takes rec classes. My daughter loves it so much she wants to quit dance and practice handstands all of the time. The coaches are approachable, helpful, good at what they do, and supportive. I didn't expect my daughter to learn a ton in her first set of classes but she somehow managed to master some skills in just a few lessons. I have had to call the gym a few times (due to being late in traffic, or with questions) and the phone is always answered or I'm called right back. I feel like my kids are safe and supported and that communication between coaches and parents is open. We've been very happy with all coaches and staff!

You can look through the windows and see all the different levels of experience and easily tell that this is a serious place, if you want it to be or it is also a great place for children who may not be seriously considering gymnastics but want to come just as a confidence builder.

In response to some of the other posts GAC does offer a makeup class at open gym which I think is MORE than fair! Most classes you commit too, including school - don't have a makeup policy! They are holding a place for your child regardless of if they come or not! My daughter has been there two years and loves her coaches. I have never had a problem with anyone being rude. This is not my first rodeo with kid's sport but is our first gymnastics experience, thus the 4 stars! We are PLEASED : )

My child enjoyed her experience during class but the owner Rebecca and Valerie are very unprofessional. In my one time interaction with her she was very rude and totally disrespectful. She would not let me speak and hung up on me as well. Needless to say my child would Never attend a class here Ever Again! I would not recommend this place to anyone. If I'm paying for your service I at least expect to be treated with respect.

Great coaches with a personal touch! My 8 year old daughter has been going here for 2 years and I am very pleased with her increased interest and skill level with gymnastics and I am a firm believer that the coaches and staff at GAC played a big part in my little girl's success.

Both my kids participate in competitive gymnastics at GAC and they have also been involved in the recreational and pre-team programs. I cannot say enough good things about the coaches and staff. The facility is clean and safe and there are two parent rooms with TV screens showing what's going on in the gym.

Do not go here, the owner treated us poorly and lied to us. They switched my five year old son into a class for three year olds and did not tell us that it ended 15 minutes earlier. When the class was over they just left him in the waiting room by himself. They also have no policy for making up classes so if you miss a class you will lose your money for that session
