Hello Mr. Landon, Director of HiTone Marketing. I saw you reply to another comment, I’m hoping you see this one.

I don’t want to be rude or disrespectful. I just have a genuine suggestion for your business. I would say you need to look into the quality of the staff you’ve got working there. You’ve got customers publicly saying they make fun of obese people trying to improve themselves, and calling them too poor to afford your price increases because they eat fast food. Let me tell you, these comments aren’t about isolated events. It’s very well known in the community surrounding your gym. That’s why your Google reviews have gone down to a 4.2. I know for a fact they’re disrespectful to customers, and burn bridges wherever they get the chance.

This is something you should be mindful of, especially after reading other people’s reviews. Not everyone is saying there is something deeply wrong with the staff because they’re mad about the price increase. It’s brought up as more of an insult to injury point. I’ve met multiple people with this opinion. It’s a common attitude amongst daytime attendees who have frequent interaction with your employees.

The gym is also dirty, there aren’t ever machine wipes, and the locker rooms usually smell like urine.

Anyway, I’ve seen lots of gyms in that area pop up and disappear. I’m sure capitalism will run its course if the community isn’t happy with the service it’s being provided by whoever occupies that space. Have a great day!

UPDATE:
This gym just proved again why I will never recommend them to anyone.

I canceled my membership months ago. Out of nowhere, they started billing me again for two months straight. I went in, told them to remove me from their system, and asked for a refund. They said, “We’ll take care of it.”

Two days later, instead of refunding me, they charged me AGAIN — twice.
They took the regular $52, then another random $62 on top of it. After I had already canceled many months prior. After I had already asked for a refund. After they told me it was handled.

This place either has zero control over their billing or they’re straight-up taking advantage of people. I had to go to my bank, dispute the charges, and block them from ever touching my account again.

Save yourself the headache. This gym is not worth the money, the hassle, or the constant surprises on your bank statement. After all is said and done these people probably got away with $218 more of my money, and time that I wont be getting back. Shame on whoever is in charge of these operations.

My worst mistake joining this gym again .
The first time I joined this gym I had additional charges, They charged me more than $200 to cancel my membership although they were making Additional charges.
The second time I joined this gym They went to charging $20 a month to $50 a month + $50 annual fee and when I tried to cancel, no one was able to do the cancellation. Hitone staff was not able to help me ,they kept telling me to call peaks to cancel the membership . I was told by Peaks that my membership was canceled and surprise! next month I was charged $50 again always make sure to have a receipt of cancellation. Otherwise , you won’t get your money back. Don’t trust the staff always ask for a receipt
It is very easy to join the gym, but is a pain in the butt Trying to get over the membership or cancel membership .
From my experience and other people I have heard if you want extra chargers on your card, join this gym 🙅🏻‍♀️👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

This used to be a great gym! It’s small and the atmosphere was friendly. Since, this new guy Dan came in the entire vibe has changed. Not to mention, the huge price increase with no real new equipment. They have many more group classes and I love them. The only problem is there is not a space for the classes and if I am not there for a class, I have to plan my workouts around class time because they take up the gym floor. Back to the creepy vibe since Dan has gotten there. He is uncomfortable to be around. His “jokes” are not funny and just odd things to say, might be an attempt at flirting or trying to fit in idk. He is rude, he shames people for being overweight behind their backs. Laughs and says they can’t afford the gym because they spend all their money on eating out. Honestly, he probably gets most of his sales from shaming people into it, after the conversation I have overheard. Also, Dan literally smells. It’s like he doesn’t shower after a workout and the BO is wild. All the other employees are amazing! I am thinking of checking out revolution fitness in West Columbia, if things don’t change here.

Awful experience! Yessterday the same male employee that let me in thel ay down tanning bed also unlocked the door and open it while I was butt naked fixing to get dressed. I was so humiliated! I got dressed and didn't even want to come out of the tanning room. I texted my partner to please have my car unlocked so I could run to it when I come out. My partner saw it all happen. My partner called the employee Dan and asked for the gym owners contact information and Dan refused to give it to hi. Dan told my partner he does not have that information. This absolutely should have never happened. Even outside of that experience the vibes at this gym are errily uncomfortable. No one seems happy to be working at this place. I always felt like I was bothering the employees for even asking them to refill the towel holders to whipe off the equipment. Just a really overpriced bad experience over all that ive been going to out of conveniencedue to location. Ill make the drive to go somewhere else. Many other things i could say like times no employee being there when they are scheduled in order to use the ammenities. Yesterday after being exposed and humiliated was the last straw.

In my opinion it is nowhere near the new price of 50 a month. Way better gyms in town that charge half that much. The guy fielding the calls from angry customers who find out their monthly payment went up 30 bucks a month without their agreeing to it was very helpful after the billing company was no help at all. I would hate to have his job.

When Hi Tone first opened, my husband and I couldn't have been happier. It was a very small, simple gym with 24-hour access that only charged $19 a month. While I had my planet fitness membership for myself which included tanning as well as bringing my husband as my free guest, we enjoyed each having this Hi Tone membership for times when pf was super busy as well as when we wanted to free squat without the smith machines at pf. Unfortunately, Hi Tone has raised its prices to $50 a person a month now. This gym is still the same small size. This gym still has all of the same old equipment. The only upgrades that were made were painting the bathroom walls, purchasing a jungle gym, and purchasing new plates. This gym is simply not worth $50 a person a month. On top of this, they have group fitness classes that take over the entire gym floor. When we're attempting to squat, multiple people in this class stand directly next to the squat bar and stand directly behind us. It is not only an inconvenience, but it's also extremely dangerous. We stopped going and will not be back.

After visiting a few other gyms in the area I decided on Hitone.
Hitone Fitness is a great gym with fantastic amenities. The equipment is nice and the facility is always clean. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They offer red light therapy, a sauna with red light, and compression therapy, all of which are perfect for recovery. Plus, there’s tanning available, and all of these features are included in the membership price. It’s a great value and a well-rounded place to work out, recover, and relax. Highly recommend!

An awful gym that’s cramped, with cheap matrix equipment.

This is my experience as a member who frequented the gym at all different times and days for years.

From 3-7 it’s unbearably crowded with almost zero space to use barbells and free weights, especially when classes are being held in the small amount of free space they have.

The wipes to clean off equipment are stocked infrequently. The bathrooms were constantly dirty and the floor was always wet because of plumbing issues. The showers were clean, but would constantly have little bugs on the tiles and curtains.

Equipment selection is okay. In half of the gym theres two squat racks, one flat barbell bench, one incline barbell bench, one matrix cable cluster in the center and another adjustable cable system in the corner. There’s several matrix plate loaded rows and chest presses. In another corner there’s a smith machine next to a nice rack of dumbbells. There’s several adjustable benches near the dumbbell rack with very little space to adjust and move them around. The tight space makes it cumbersome and somewhat dangerous when dumbbell pressing. All equipment is tightly placed next each other. The barbells are awful. With almost all being bent and damaged in some fashion. The floor is not level which causes the barbells to move and pivot when deadlifting or doing olympic lifts. 1/4 of the space is filled with cardio equipment (bikes, stair steppers, and ellipticals). Another 1/4 is the basic matrix machine lineup.

I have to highlight what you do not get at this gym. Its stuff I have asked for repeatedly. There are zero platforms to deadlift or squat on. This makes the uneven floor an unavoidable hazard. No hack squat machine. No plate loaded iso lateral rows or presses of any variety. There are almost zero unbent or damaged barbells.

Worst of all, the membership costs more than doubled from the rate that I paid for years. It went from 20$ per month to 50$ for the cheapest package. This package does not get you access to any amenities other than one personal training session. To add insult to injury they have a clause that requires a 30 day written notice of cancellation to stop your membership, which forced me to pay for another month at a rate I did not agree with.

I did not know how bad I had it until a shopped around for other gyms. I have not looked back since leaving. There are better options close by that are much cheaper, have better equipment, and more amenities.

A gym that gives members a TWO day notice of a price increase from $19 to $49 then refuses to let them cancel "without 30 days notice" despite that not being in the contract (as confirmed by Peak Payment and the gym manager) is certainly not a good one. What *is* in the contract and law is that the gym is required to provide a 30 day notice to members about price changes. Greed shouldn't supercede decency or legal obligation.

My gym closed for a remodel, gave this gym a chance. I called, I just wanted to pay, tan, and workout. Very easy to do, and there is more than 1 stair master. Nice tanning bed, very clean. Don’t join if you want access to paper towels or the ability to contact the corporate office who makes these decisions! I’ve been a member of this gym for years, and recently they removed the paper towels and paper towel dispensers from the bathrooms. So now the only way to dry your hands is to use the dirty air dryer that doesn’t do a good job, and you cant use it to wipe the sweat from your face after a workout (hence the need for paper towel access). When I asked why they removed the paper towels from the bathrooms an employee told me it was a decision made by the corporate office made to save money. So, before I was paying for the paper towels that I used with my gym membership, and they took that expense away but kept the price of their gym membership the same. We as customers are getting less for our money because of this change. When I asked for the phone number for the corporate office so I could contact them to express my dissatisfaction with this change, I was told there is no corporate office number to contact, that they don’t give out that information to the public. So, I do not have to ability to complain to the people who made this decision. When I contacted a different branch trying to get in touch with the corporate office, the employee suggested I write a review of my experience so corporate can respond to my review… So instead of discussing this privately, they would prefer their customers share their negative experiences with the public to drive down their own business??? Makes little sense to me but here we are.
Corporate office of Hitone Fitness – please give us back the paper towels in the bathroom, or lower your prices to reflect decreased value in your gym service, and add a phone number so customers can reach the main office instead leaving public reviews of their dissatisfaction. Thanks!

I love this place! I have been a member since they opened. The staff is very friendly and will help out in any way they can.... Especially Morgan and Ryan! If you have an issue with your membership, just call or walk in and speak to them and they will do everything they can to help you out. Gym is open 24/7 to members which works great with my schedule. New equipment and plenty of different types of machines and weights so you can get the work out you are looking for. I have the family membership and that comes with the tanning and hydromassage, too! Would give this gym 10 stars if I could!

I joined this gym.while in S. Carolina because there was no LA Fitness near. I was a little bummed that this particular location did not have a Sauna, however I was able to get a great workout with out the crowd or the headache of having to wait on machines. First it is impossible to reach a human being there to talk to them or a manage

Their Automated chat line is nothing more than sending you prices there is no help.
I work in the fitness industry so I understand how these kind of places operate and warned My daughter who is twenty two years old and her friends to be very careful and not sign up until I go over with them.

1st they tell you that There is a joining fee $ 30.00 and then $19 a month.

What they do not tell you, is there is a Second fee every Year called an enhancement fee

Hence it is not a thirty dollar joining fee....but totals out at almost eighty dollars.

Their sales techniques are worse than any gym I have seen.

I have tried to reach a manager now for days and cannot reach one.

Typically I hate working out. After years of doing nothing I finally stopped in and spoke with a few members. I only joined this gym because it was close and convenient. They have horrible management! The water fountain is always out of order. They were always out of paper towels, toilet paper and wipes for the machines.
The manager is condescending and patronizing. You’ve worked in the fitness industry 20 years and clearly you’ve learned nothing about public relations! He likes to hear the sound of his own voice more than wanting to help.
I also agree with the thieves accusation from another review. Don’t give them your credit card!!!

I love this Gym! Very clean, super convenient, great customer service! The manager is also amazing and and goes above and beyond to make his members happy. There isn't much to do around south congaree we have a small group of businesses that really do things right. And because of that they have been around for a long time, i hope that workout anytime is now part of that group.wish them many many prosperous years in the community and love that we now have a great positve way to occupy our time !

This gym really has great quality equipment and really friendly staff. Everyone knows each other and the other members are friendly as well. It’s a really nice gym and I enjoy going every day

My only complaints, are that when I joined nobody bothered to show me how to work any of the machines, andmy initial success session was cancelled by the trainer and he never rescheduled as promised. Other than that this place is awesome, clean, and friendly.

I have been a member since the doors open. The gym is amazing and the staff is super. They will help you anyway they can. The classes are killer. If you are looking for a gym you can call home... This is the one!!

Great gym with new equipment. Membership prices are great which includes access to all locations across the US. This gym is a bit of a drive for me, but I feel it's worth it for 24/7 access to a gym that allows barbell exercises such as bench press, squat and deadlift.
