Whether you want to learn how to box competively or are just looking for a great workout, this is the best boxing gym in Charleston, hands down. This is a gritty, old school boxing gym with great coaches who have tons of expirence. There are boxing basic classes and advance classes as well as sparring sessions. If you are looking for an authentic, fun, energetic and serious boxing gym, this is for you. Be ready to work when you come here, you won't find a better exercise anywhere else. Highly recommend.

Incredible experience!! Every single person in this gym helped me to have an intense workout lesson! I dropped in and learned so much, Coach Michael is one of the nicest yet brutal people you will ever meet. I've never tried boxing and I consider myself a yoga girl, but the people in my class and the staff here really made sure I felt comfortable enough to stay the whole workout. When I tell you that they will take care of you, I mean it. If you want to try something new, bring a towel and a LARGE water, you'll need it!

Awesome gym. I train here and I got to say the coaches are good at pushing you to the limit, which is a good thing in boxing. 10/10 would recommend.

Awesome boxing gym. First time I went in, I knew nothing about the sport, but the coaches were extremely helpful and encouraging. Several years later I’ve competed in multiple competitive matches, and I still learn something new every time i walk in the gym. Perfect gym for any level of experience/fitness.

Great gym and great people. Tried a number of boxing gyms before finding this one. Owner knows what he’s doing and how to teach and encourage others all while having a great attitude. Could not be a nicer person, all the instructors are great and the facility is top notch.

Michael Golemis has been my coach at Hurricane Boxing for six years. He, the other coaches, the facility, and the events are all top-notch and are ran with professionalism. Additionally, membership numbers and retention continue to increase. Google reviews can lie, but the numbers don’t.

This place is the gold standard for boxing in the low country. Whether you’re looking for a workout, or wanting to sharpen your skills as a competitive boxer, this place has something for everyone. It also offers an outstanding kids and competitive program that has produced multiple champions in and out of the ring. They continue to give back to the community as well through the Hurricane Boxing Foundation. I highly recommend checking out. If you know you know.

Family environment, clean gym, and great boxing instruction. This is the place to be to enhance your boxing skills while getting a great workout. The coaches focus on hand placement, technique, footwork, and head movement. Hurricane not only provides fitness classes and training for competitive boxers, but they also have created a foundation that gives back to children in the community several times a year. The head coach along with other coaches spend a great deal of time giving back to children in our local community, and they provide a safe environment for children and adults.

This place is amazing!!! I have never felt so in shape and strong in my life!! I started working out here a little over a year ago and never once been remotely unhappy!. Micheal( the owner) is a true class act and really knows how to get you in shape. If I were you I would definitely check out his night classes in the new year!!!

Great gym with the nicest people. The owner and trainers put countless hours into the people who come here-not to mention their dedication to the youth program. Hurricane Boxing is a unique and special place.

Michael golemis. That’s the name of the head boxing coach that cursed out a group of young men for absolutely no reason and then threw them out with no warning. Been doing martial arts for ten years in the Charleston area never seen anything like that. All I can say is I would not let this guy anywhere near my kids with a temper like that. If he would’ve talked to my kids that way i would’ve went to jail easily. Absolutely absurd. Not to mention the young men were being absolutely respectful.

Was at hurricane gym today watching fights and the gym seemed nice and the fights were going good. A man accidentally opened a side door and the head coach cussed him out in the middle of the match. The man went over after the match respectfully to the coach and the coach continued to cuss him out and kicked him out with no refund. Didn’t find out until after wards that it was the head coach of the gym just felt like I needed to say something but didn’t want to get cussed out and kicked out or be disrespectful. Let me repeat the man and his friend that were kicked out were not being loud or anything and were not warned before being kicked out. Being in the martial arts industry for over 30 years it’s not very often you see this but it sure sucks when you do

I’ve been going to Hurricane Boxing for about a year now, and it’s changed my life.
You can come in at any level and come away feeling empowered and challenged.
They incorporate different things in each class, and I learn something new all the time.
This is more than a boxing gym, it’s a boxing family with coaches and fellow boxers who push each other to be their best selves.

So, this place is impressive, i only wish i had more time to go there, been hanging out there off and on for about a year, the owner is in the South Carolina Boxing Hall of Fame, look up his record. and the people who he lets teach class are amazing.

It’s kinda like... if you don’t know anything, come learn (they’ll protect you if brand knew) and if want to do serious flow, well, their are enough present and former golden glove people training to, who are still competing...

kinda like a serious gym that will protect beginners, kinda a rare thing i believe..

I had never boxed before but had always had an interest. Coach Golemis took my interest and turned it into a full-fledged obsession. I went from coming once, then twice, to coming almost daily. He took time to properly instruct but didn't waste time coddling me. The other people in class are all friendly and helpful as well. It came to be like a family. My day is incomplete without it. I also find that it helps control my road rage to have punched a bag or a classmate sometime in the day.

Best boxing gym around, hands down. Beginner friendly & expert approved. Coach Golemis is in the Carolina Boxing Hall of Fame for good reason. Not only is the instruction top flight, the facility is top notch as well. If you are looking for a great workout, this is your place.
