My son has been a student here since he was 9 months old. He loves to swim and is learning lots of new skills that will make him safer in the water. At the age of 2, he can float on his back and swim short distances. He can climb out of the pool using the ladder and he is close to being able to climb out using the side. The staff do an amazing job getting to know the children and they learn what each child needs to be successful.

Just watched Eleanor teaching swimming skills to a very resistant 2 year old in the pool at Kids First Swim School. This place is amazing! Eleanor reassuringly encouraged this little guy to complete his skills practice and got him to go under water with no trauma. The child was delighted! She has such valued experience with all ages and genuinely enjoys her job. Thank you Kid First for being a top notch swim school in Mt. Pleasant and hiring wonderful teachers!

We couldn’t be happier with our child’s very first swim lessons at Kid’s First Swim in Mt. Pleasant, SC! Even though it’s an hour’s drive each way for us, it’s absolutely worth it. The instructors are so patient and encouraging, and they made our kids feel comfortable and confident in the water right from the start.
The facility is clean, well-organized, and the lessons are structured in a way that keeps kids both safe and excited to learn. Seeing the progress after just the first class made the commute feel like nothing. Highly recommend this program to any parent who wants their child to love the water and learn important safety skills!

I cannot say enough great things about Kids First Swim. From the moment we walked in to inquire about classes, Lyndi has been warm, welcoming, and incredibly professional. Every single staff member we’ve interacted with has been kind, attentive, and passionate about what they do.

The instructors are great — not only are they highly skilled swimmers and teachers, but they also know exactly how to connect with students of all ages and confidence levels. My son has really enjoyed his instructor (Ryan)

Every class feels well-organized and purposeful. The facilities are clean and safe with ample area for parents to watch.

My son has had three lessons so far and has made leaps and bounds! He previously refused to float, put his face in, kick, etc. He wanted nothing to do with the pool. Now he goes under for sinkies, wants to go to the pool, practices his swimming, and floats. He is super excited every time he has swim lessons. He LOVES Kids First Swim (and especially his teacher, Sarah).

Discovered this place through my daughter's OT therapy. However, I wish I would have known about it before! The staff is always super friendly and helpful. The facility is always clean and smells good. Some aquatic places just have an overwhelming chlorine/chemical smell. The changing rooms are plentiful, clean, and private. KFSS is just an A+ aquatics facility.

Wonderful swim school for kids! We started taking our son here when he was 3, and totally terrified of the water. He is now 8, loves the water, and has learned how to swim multiple strokes. Instructors are great, and the owner, Brian, truly loves his job. Highly recommend for a great heated year-round indoor pool.

Our daughter, and now our son have taken lessons here and learned to swim beginning at age 3. This is very conveniently located and you can do some grocery shopping before or after your lesson. At Publix, you can get a free cookie and fruit. We have enjoyed all the teachers. Scheduling has been easy, including make up lessons. The management has also been very friendly. We have met many other friendly families and kids taking lessons here. Highly positive experience.

I wasn’t sure when I first signed up because we’ve done private lessons in our pool to no success. Our first day the girl on front desk gave us a tour, was awesome to my son and made him comfortable with her right off the bat. She pointed out his teacher and explained their one way windows they have, which he thought was super cool.

She walked him into class and to all of our surprise he went in with her with no issues. She sat on the side of the pool for a couple minutes until he was comfortable before coming out and going over expectations with me. His teacher was amazing too! He did more in that first lesson with her than he did all last summer.

I’m excited to see where he is at by the time our pool heats up this summer. I already feel more at ease about him around the water. Thank you to all of the staff here!

As a successful business owner in Charleston SC for over 30 years, I have never experienced such poor customer service from a fellow entrepreneur and the owner “Brian” at FIRST SWIM Mt P.

After years as a consistent FIRST SWIM customer for our daughter, I recently made the mistake of signing her up for continued summer swim lessons before remembering she is already committed for her swim team this summer.

in an effort to collect my reimbursement, (prior to her upcoming lessons in May), My calls to FIRST SWIM went unanswered and messages not returned. A simple reimbursement ck to me for services not yet rendered would have been so easy. Instead and upon my in person visit I finially confronted owner Brian. In an insulting and immature tone he commented “ Your check has already been deposited”

NOT THE WAY TO TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS
DO NOT PRE-PAY this outfit until services rendered
BRIAN has zero business sense while trainer Lyndsey is GREAT though!!!!

Exceptional top notch swim school. We have been with Swim First for the past 7 years and cannot give them a higher recommendation. Eleanore has been remarkable with both our kids who presented very different abilities and personalities, and she has been truly amazing with both. Lyndi took the baton with our daughter and really motivated her into evolve into becoming an exceptionally strong swimmer and test her skills on swim team earlier this year. And Ryan has picked up where Lyndi left off and been such a great teacher/mentor, helping her evolve her skill set even more and always making it a fun day in the pool. Great facilities, positive community vibe, accommodating staff top to bottom.

Our family loves everything about KIDS FIRST Swim School! There are a ton of class day/time options and if you miss a class, you are welcome to sign up for any of the other classes to make it up. Couldn’t be happier at Kids First! We adore Lyndi and her bright, smiling face every week when we walk in and Miss Eleanor has been an amazing teacher for all three of my kids. My older two children were pretty fearful of the water and after their first lesson with Lyndi last year, they were hooked! They now swim with Eleanor and love every minute. On the flip side, my youngest loves the water and is fearless. Eleanor was able to harness that love and make swimming fun and safe. This is the one extracurricular will we keep doing for a long time!

By focusing on perfect form the make it very difficult for kids to advance to a point where they do any actual swimming. Its like they intentionaly hold the kids back to squeeze more $$ out of you. We've had friends tell us they had the same experience.

We had much more sucess with a large group program at school immediately after leaving.

Most of the instructors are excellent! However, when my two boys went to the swim school the instructors teaching were not consistent and both boys were traumatized by the male instructor who is the owner. My three year old has some developmental delays and processes things a bit slower. After having a wonderful session with a female instructor, the following week the owner filled in and my son sobbed and screamed for the entire 30 minutes. His delays were not taken into account at all (although I had let everyone there know about them) and the instructor immediately and repeatedly poured water on his head with the toy boat. He then took him under water multiple times while my son was visibly upset. He was so upset that my 6 year old who always loved the lessons also started crying because he was seeing his little brother like that. I tried to keep my composure since I knew they were safe still but, to this day, regret not going in there and taking my 3 year old out of that environment immediately. Afterwards, the woman instructors seemed embarrassed by the male instructor. My 6 year old was even traumatized for his little brother and I politely called and canceled all sessions moving forward. My advice is if the owner is running your lesson and your child is not 100 percent comfortable yet with the water, run back out the door.

My son started at Kids First Swim School when he was about two years old.
We began with the Mommy and me classes and stayed for almost five years after. My husband and I wanted our son to not just learn the basics of swim safety but we needed him to be a strong swimmer!!!
Because we are surrounded by the ocean, water ways, swimming pools and ponds we had to ensure that our son would be safe!
We owe his swim ability, strength and confidence to owner Brian C. and all of his wonderful staff!!!! We were so fortunate that Brian truly cares about the success of each of his students!! He gave our son the ultimate gift, learning how to swim!!! This was one area of our son's life that we weren't willing to compromise on, making sure he was truly a competent and confident swimmer. Over the years we worked on perfecting the fundamentals of swimming and learning proper technique.
Now our son swims better than most children three and four years older than he.
We are forever grateful to Brain C. and all that he has given our family!!!
I can honestly say that swim safety and ability is priceless!!!!!
Fondly,
Jennifer & Craig Fine

We're new to Kids First and have had a wonderful experience so far. I've talked to the front desk several times and they've always been very helpful and accommodating. Feb 22, 2019 I observed my two grandson’s second swim lesson. One 2.5 yrs and the other 4.0 years.they were terrified to go to the pool for their second lesson, both melting down going in. The gentleman instructor proceeded within 15 minutes to take both underwater as I hear was done on their first lesson!!!
The 2.5 year old was dragged under water at lest 3 times and sometimes for 4 seconds at a time. For the entire 30 minutes both were uncontrollably sobbing. I consider this child abuse but cannot day anything since I am not their parent. Never in my life have I seen such ridiculousness in the approach to swimming.
The boys will never eat to go back to this place and I fear will be scared fir any love of the water.
Most disgusting and intolerable.
I will further research this business and the licensing of their instructor, if there is any, I doubt so.
Please post your complaints also !

The next week there was a change of tactics with mom in the water for a short period. All seemed to be OK according to Mom & Dad. I did not attend.
My thanks for trying something different, whatever it was.

UPDATE:
Spring 2020 - The boys returned for lessons this summer. The 2.5 year old, now just 4 saw his former swim instructor at the front desk, no longer his instructor and began to cry at the sight of him. He still does not go under water.

I have 3 boys and we have been doing swim lessons since October 2017 so two years so far. My kids have learned so much and the instructors are so great with the kids. Classes are small so your child will get plenty of time with the instructor. I love that I can watch my kids but they can't see me with the mirror glass. Ms. Eleanor is passionate about teaching a very important life skill and I loved her the moment she introduced herself to my daughter. You can absolutely feel and SEE her expertise, passion, CONSISTENT presence and love she has for what she shares with the kids. My daughter has had the pleasure of experiencing three instructors through this program and Ms. Eleanor is my absolute favorite. The program challenges your child, will strengthen them where they are weak and definitely will put them down for a nap afterwards. If you have the means to help your child obtain this life skill I strongly suggest considering this school.
