I had a professional goal I wanted to achieve and it required some fitness training to get there. I had a short deadline, prior back and hip injuries, fears, a very busy schedule and no clue what I was doing. I began training with Jay and I began to improve daily. I first met Jay in jiu jitsu class, we started around the same time but he was extremely in shape which made me want to learn more about health and fitness. Jay Brown is truly a wonderful trainer and coach. Let me tell you why:

When I made my first appointment, I was terrified it was going to be physically painful and mentally exhausting. It was the opposite.

As soon as Jay started asking me questions, I realized he knew much more than I expected. “Trainer” is not enough of a title for what Jay does. He embodies flexibility and encourages the same in body and mind.

He took time to understand my physical and mental limitations and mapped out a doable plan. This is not an online, one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, he tailors what we do to my abilities each day.

Jay is a quick thinker. He pivots easily and doesn’t let me get disappointed; he just redirects to the next successful exercise. It’s an amazingly powerful feeling to gather small wins instead of just having someone tell you to “push through the pain.”

I trust in Jay’s abilities so much that as a local acupuncturist, I refer my own patients to him. He’s a positive influence and a great person. (Also, the gym looks like Ninja Warrior and has a supportive friendly vibe.)

Been training with Jay personally for almost five years now. He puts a lot of effort into his regimes and keeps up-to-date on what modern sports science is saying. Though what truly helped me was his genuine love for his clients and willingness to put in the extra time with us. I was nursing off of a sizable tumor removal from my right leg when we first started training together and he could tell I was getting discouraged. He spent extra time making the regiments more fun to keep me going. He would even spend extra time with me on the gym floor free of charge teaching me technique I could use myself. Four ish years later and I am now at Clemson where he still schedules training circuits for me to do here. As a constant learner, Jay’s approach was always creative and focused on my needs, as well as on my goals. He took the time to review information provided by my physical therapist, designing plans around it. Continually respecting the integrity of some of my limitations, Jay inspired me to challenge myself at every training session. At 76, I’m in my best physical condition ever, thanks in large part to his influence.

This place is fantastic! The team here motivate, have fun, encourage and will push you to your limits! These guys know their stuff, we were a class of mixed ages, mixed abilities & fitness levels and everyone had a good hard workout. Alternative moves and exercises were given when needed and the team were there making sure our form was correct/safe and we were constantly encouraged. If you need a butt kicking good workout this is the place to be. LOVE IT!
