When I was first looking to switch gyms, I was concerned that I would never be able to find a place that had both a great workout and a good environment. That concern was quickly put to rest once I found MADabolic Greenville. Not only do they have an intense workout, but the coaches here are amazing! Not to mention that you will never be bored because they are constantly switching up the workout/exercises. Plus, the members are super welcoming and fun to talk to. I can’t express how strongly I would suggest trying this gym out. Whether you are new to working out or a long time gym rat, this is the gym to come train at. They offer different weights for everyone, depending on what you are comfortable with lifting, and they are also really good about giving modifications if need be. I would highly recommend this gym!

Madabolic is the absolute best! After almost 2 years of being a member, I definitely feel stronger physically, but more importantly I’m stronger mentally - it’s an amazing stress buster. I always leave feeling so much better than when I walked in. This isn’t just a gym, it’s a community. The people are friendly and welcoming and the trainers are hands down the BEST in town - they take the time to get to know you and your goals and they individualize workouts for you as needed. I had surgery this spring and they spent time helping me modify my workouts until I was ready to resume a normal routine. I’m 49 years old and tell all my friends they need to join MAD to build muscle and strength - and to combat stress - as they go through perimenopause and menopause. It truly is the best. I've been going to MADabolic for about 10 months. MAD GVL is not just a gym - it’s a community where all are welcome. Whether it’s your first time in the workout scene or you’re looking to level up your athleticism, somehow they cater to all. Personally, I find that I work out much harder in this setting than I do on my own - I don’t have to stress about my “workout plan” because they do the programming for me - and I have seen AND felt immense progress and gains. I’ve tried many types of workouts and gyms (boutique studios, places with ropes and barbells, yoga studios with no equipment at all, etc) and this is easily the place I’ve seen results the fastest. My wife has been going to mad for a year and loving it. I am too cheap to pay for a gym membership but she brought me along for a free class and $5 trial for 5 classes. I am almost 40 and having some shoulder issues from a previous CrossFit style workout with heavy weight and questionable form. I couldn’t believe how much I like working out at mad. This is going to be a long review because I can’t say enough fabulous things about MADabolic-Greenville.
I had hit a wall at my old gym, a regular strength training gym. I was doing the same movements over and over with free weights and cable machines. I needed to sweat more. I needed to add some cardio. I needed to be in this structured class environment to start to achieve my goals.
I did the 5 classes for $5 and I was hooked. I did all three types of classes (M, A, and D) during this time and loved them all.
The one on one instruction throughout the entire class is top notch.
In a nutshell, you will do five movements. Everyone does the same movement at different times. The difference with this gym is that you do however many reps you can, at whatever weight you can, in the time given. I have worked out next to people who have done 20 reps at a higher weight, while I’ve done 8 reps at a much lower weight. No one is looking. No one is judging. No one is writing down your score!
Don’t be intimidated, I promise you will love this gym.

The good, the bad and the indifferent

The Good:
Fun environment
Fun program set up
Nice coaches

The Bad:
Teaches bad form (poor explanation)
Example: lifting front foot to hit bag (let’s use front uppercut)
Lifting front foot is fine to teach with the understanding it is to show how to open up the hip and sink into the punch. But showing that as a way to throw the punch is just incorrect. This really goes for the back foot as well. To show turning completely into the punch for full rotation but it is meant for full rotation. I don’t think any form of fighting style has you swinging from your toes. (I could be wrong I don’t know all forms of fighting styles)

Not knowing what muscles groups, the workout is working.
Example: KB step overs. (stated shoulders)
This is 100% shoulder fatiguing holding it in the front rack for almost 3 min:
Muscles groups worked are, Glutes, Abs, Hamstring, Traps, Erector Spine, Grip, Quad, Rhomboid

2 for 1
Box step ups: Was shown to lean forward. You can do it this way but it puts unnecessary strain on your back with no benefit moving at a faster pace if anything will most likely increase chance of injury. When I asked what muscle group I should be focusing on it was like I asked how quantum mechanic’s work.

The Indifferent:

I think it is a lot of fun and I did get a 10-day pass. If you are trying to grow muscle this is definitely not the way to do it. For weight loss it could be beneficial with proper diet and going pretty light during your workout. This 70/80/90/100 set up they use is definitely better in weight training. IE: first week 70% max adding 10% per week until hitting 100% then going into a de-load.

I look forward to this workout everyday! Everything is well thought out and set up and you don't even need to count your reps because everything is on a timer. The workouts are designed to push you and target every part of your body. I like that I don't have to think during this workout, I just have to do, which in a way is relaxing. MADabolic showed me a new form of weight lifting I would have never expecting. Group style instruct led. It pushes you to go and keeps you accountable. The instructors are always very welcoming and the members make you feel like family. I have made great friends that’ll last a lifetime. What do I like most about my MADabolic Greenville experience? Well first, the fact that it IS an actual experience. From the moment I walk in the door and am greeted by a friendly face eager to help, the cleanliness and attention to detail throughout the entire studio, the structured and intentional training on the gym floor, the trainers who not only teach and push me but put my safety as a number 1 priority AND workout next to me sometimes, to the relationships built on and off the gym floor.
