I’ve had a fantastic experience at One Life Fitness – Columbiana Center location. From the moment you walk in, the cleanliness of the facility really stands out — everything is spotless, well-maintained, and organized. The selection of equipment is excellent, with plenty of options for every type of workout, whether you’re into free weights, machines, or cardio.

A big shoutout to Zack, who has been incredibly helpful and welcoming. His professionalism and attention to members really make a difference and add to the positive atmosphere of the gym.

Overall, this is one of the best fitness centers I’ve been to — clean, friendly, and well-equipped. Highly recommended!

Signed up in August and my monthly charge has never been correct. Each time I get, "Sorry about that. It's been fixed." only to have the wrong charge appear the next month. Front staff is terrible but clearly management isn’t any better. When I signed up I was told no contract, come in and cancel at any time. Then I get told only one person in management can cancel and I would need to come back when he was in. Then I do get the pleasure of sitting with Zach Stoudt which really sealed the deal on me leaving this gym and not coming back. He was rude, unfriendly and argumentative.

I can’t believe the amount of upgrades and positive changes done since OneLife took over the club. We’ve been Fitness club members over 40 years and now this is the best one ever by far- especially the staff. General Manager Zack Stoudt is running this place like a 5 star facility. I recommend you see him if you’re looking for a 1st class gym.

I’ve been a loyal member of OneLife Irmo for years (back when it was Muv), working out here over 150 days a year — but the quality has plummeted since the ownership change.

The steam room is broken or cold half the time, staff constantly say “that’s not my job,” and today I was kicked off a machine mid-set with zero warning. A few weeks ago, raw sewage came up through the floor when the toilets were flushed. The response? “Just wait till the renovations are done.”

This place is a mess. Poorly managed, unprofessional staff, and a total lack of accountability. If you actually want working amenities and a clean gym, go elsewhere.

This gym has been awesome for me. It has everything I need, being a true athlete, including recovery equipment. While the renovations have been difficult for some, I have been able to work around it with the help from the app since it provides frequent updates. I see it as an improvement to the overall environment and experience.

I have been a member of this gym for years (since it was a golds). The quality and customer service has taken a drastic nose dive since the change in ownership. Yes some renovations are being done and it seems to be cleaner overall but at what cost? The renovation process has been a total cluster***. There is little to no communication to members as to when things are happening and when things will be shut down. Recently they redid the locker rooms and there was no warning until you showed up one day with no place to change and no place to keep your belongings. The locker room closure lasted much longer than originally stated (over several weeks) and they didn't replace the toilets at that time so then had to reclose them several weeks later to do the toilets. Now they're redoing the floors. It's an utter disaster. There was once again zero warning until you showed up and half the gym and equipment is roped off. People were walking in just to turn around and walk out. Today things worsened and upon walking in at 5am there are now less than 15 machines available and no free weights, stretching area, cables, racks, etc. Over half the gym is blocked off. This is a gym with thousands of members and the workable area has been dwindled down to less than what you would expect at a hotel gym. There was zero warning or communication of this. Not a single sign or email. They claimed it would be done within a matter of days but given the fact they aren't even done pulling up the old floors (let alone putting down the new) I think this will be a problem for at least another 1-2 weeks. Looks like I'll have to pay for a visitor pass elsewhere in the meantime (or drive over 30 minutes one way to one of their other locations). There recently have also been problems with the AC upstairs and many days there is none at all (mind you it's been 90-100 degrees). When complaints or feedback are relayed to management they seem less than interested. Their only concern is "corporate" not hearing about it because "our jobs are at stake". Staff is no longer friendly and approachable. They sit around in groups on their phones and don't smile or even acknowledge members. It's a completely different environment then what I have come to expect over the last 20 years. It's no longer customer service based. To make matters worse they're now charging a renewal fee and upping their monthly rates (double what I've been paying for the last 20 years). I know many OG members have already left and I'm sure many more are headed that way. Once our contracts are up, we will also be seeking a new gym. Such a shame but as they say... all good things must come to an end!

Just started! LOVE this place. They took into account the physical limitations I have because of my arthritis, Spurs, and degenerative disc disease pains. They are currently undergoing new flooring construction which should be done in a couple of days, but that's in the heavy weightlifting area which I'm not going to need. Everything else they have available, I am looking forward to using! I'm starting low and slow because of my issues. Also I can go to any of their gyms that I want and sign in a news then. They even have red light laser like what was used on my feet when I was having such bad times with arthritis and spurs in them a couple of years ago. I am really looking forward to this journey of rebuilding my range of motion, a little bit of muscle mass, and getting rid of a little bit of my flab! There’s a lot to like about this gym:
— Excellent variety of equipment
— Clean, well-organized layout
— A pool
— lots of personal trainers around
— renovated women's locker room

But for $60/month, it’s frustrating to see where the priorities lie.

— The women’s-only area—a space that helped many feel safe and welcome—was removed to make room for a paid “recovery studio”
— Only two drinking fountains and no bottle refill stations
— No handicap-accessible door button
— Childcare costs $15 per child, per month. Childcare area could use more activities.
— overall, just feel judged working out here by all the crazy fit health nuts

As the only legit gym in Irmo with childcare, it’s really missing the mark. Moms and average folks trying to ease back into fitness can end up feeling excluded in a space that seems more focused on upgrades than community.

Onelife has done so many renovations that have dramatically increased the quality of my gym experience.

The staff is generally very friendly and welcoming. Being that they have changed ownership from MUV, new elements have been introduced like a photo requirement (so if your a little self conscious like me, you might want to make sure you wear your makeup the day you decide to join! lol)

Beyond that, I feel very safe at this gym as a single mom. I’ve been going here for almost a year and never felt intimidated by any other patrons which is a testament to how the staff set the culture for this gym and the respect each patron has to each other. When you attend this gym you will see patrons from every age range, and all different positions in their physical fitness journey. It’s very welcoming!!

While the woman’s only area has been removed, they have fully renovated the woman’s locker room area. It was a much needed refresh and looks amazing!

I cannot rave enough about the childcare staff at this gym!! The entire staff has been incredibly welcoming. Netta, specifically, has become a family friend of ours. She loves and cares for my son and myself, on our good and bad days. She is a fantastic example of a childcare provider who loves each child, and it’s so evident she loves what she does. It’s staff with this mentality that make going to this gym a pleasant experience. It’s hard some days to find motivation to take care of myself, but the fact that my son WANTS to be there around his friends really helps. My son is out of the baby and toddler range, but I do think the ‘Kid’s club’ area could benefit from a baby proofed area so the smaller ones could have a safe space aside from the bigger kids like mine.

Any equipment I’ve ever utilized has been in operation which can’t be said for other gyms I’ve been too. I also appreciate how they have laid equipment out in the space as a whole. It allows everyone to have space for their workouts without being on top of one another!

I love using the pool and hot tub. I haven’t utilized the recovery zone yet, but it looks nice!

Overall, this is a great gym, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

Mrs. Netta in the ChildCare Center is amazing. We’re so happy we found a gym where childcare isn’t an after thought. She has our complete confidence, she’s super welcoming, nurturing, and reassuring. I was so excited to join One life. After being told about all the plans to upgrade, but now I believe the members were sold a false promise. They're only taking short cuts in major areas. I live in Irmo so while they remodel the womens locker room with a deadline of three weeks that ended in six weeks.I used Forest dr. Because I'm handicap and needed a handicap shower. They open Irmo locker rooms, but took four more weeks to restore the handicap shower and it's still not ready. Why start on the mens locker room when the womens isn't finished. My biggest complaint is something is always broken, Lexington which is not handicap friendly the pool is out, Forest dr the steam room out, Irmo it could be anything from pool to whirlpool. Some of the equipment has been here from Golds. Some of the other members said they don't attend to their concerns. I had high hopes that are slowly going away.

I have gone to this gym for about a year and have LOVED it! Campbell recently helped my sister set up a one month trial membership and was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Mrs. Sandy and Zoey have always treated our children phenomenally in the kids care center as well. We are moving next month, so while we unfortunately won’t be able to continue our membership, my family has thoroughly enjoyed the hours that we have spent at one life fitness in irmo!

Since the move over to Onelife things have really gone down hill. Very corporate atmosphere, many are there just to draw a paycheck, the conversion to Onelife has been sloppy with very little communication. Canceled a class permanently stating one date, came into class only to find them having closed it weeks before they said they would with no notice nor information on what would be the next step with it. Keep making claims with very little follow through.

3/25 Editing since ONELIFE bought MUV. They have ruined this place…no women’s only area, no more tanning bed. I have yet to see where the “millions in improvements” are. Time to find somewhere that cares about what their members want instead of making this gym a carbon copy of other ONELIFE gyms

Updated 4/30/25….It seems that enough people complained and they are going to try to keep one tanning bed. I’m hoping this is true and they will possibly add more back in the future. The women’s locker room is getting a much needed renovation followed by the men’s locker room. Fingers crossed that they will get some of the good class instructors back that MUV ran off. We especially need more Zumba evening and weekend classes! I will admit that I am enjoying the hydro massage!
