Horrible conditions
Tee boxes all torn up and not level
Everything is a dog leg
And they still have the nerve to charge $150 pp
Talked to the pro who thanked me for the feedback and said those were discounted rates
Save your money

It is an upscale restaurant in a country club setting overlooking the golf course. The food is delicious, they have a good wine menu and a relaxing atmosphere. The service was friendly, efficient and personable. All that you would expect with southern hospitality.

Funny how this course 'takes pride' in offering dynamic pricing for greens fees 'so guests can choose a rate that works for them instead of just static, rigid pricing' but no such thing for club rentals. I guess given there's always clubs available the course wouldn't make as much money. Which makes their stance all the more obvious; they don't want you to have a choice, THEY want the choice to charge more during busy times. Just do your shady pricing and get on with it without the BS about 'golfers' choice'.

Average at best. Cool
Layout. Greens aerated and awful. Pull up to bag drop no attendant to get your bags and load cart. Some really poor areas of approach in front of greens. Played 18 and never saw a beverage cart. 3rd course I played this week better places to play for your money. I won’t go again.

I liked the layout, but the course has been completely aerated fairways and all. It will be at least a couple more weeks before it's enjoyable.

Completely overcharged for this course. Course conditions were questionable for the $$$. Greens were SLOWWW! The course layout is great, pretty views on a few holes. But spend your money elsewhere on the island. I’m not sure how they justify the cost. Would I play it again? Sure if the cost was $70 MAX… Driving range maxes out around 220ish? So no driver or woods.

This is the most I have ever paid for a round of golf in my life and the course was destroyed. Half of the greens were dead and or under repair. For $170 this should have been the most pristine course instead we got dead fairways and a fake green they put in the fairway. Save your money and play dolphin head.

The goofy pro shop guy tried to not give us our money back and said the course was in good shape. Check out the pics.

Waste of money, $165 for 18. Rot on green of signature hole and half cut out. 9 was under repair and the clubshop boy didn’t say a word before paying.

Unfortunately my experience was not very positive with the exception of the Pro shop staff. I booked a tee time online a month in advance and it was not reserved. The Staff accommodated me so that my partner and I could play. However, given the price with a discount because of their error, the course was not in the shape I expected. Worn travel areas, some poor greens and tee boxes. Suffice to say I would not recommend this course as a first choice

Nice course but managed by ppl who only want $$ and dont care about the experience. Played 12 holes in 5 hours due to the course allowing 6 ppl to a tee time. Ended up leaving after hole 12 and drove past 5 6’ums. Never even heard of that. Waste of money and will never return or recommend. Way too many nice courses around for this bs.

Used to love playing here, and was excited to get a chance to get back out here last week. Ended up very disappointed in the course. Fairways were largely burnt out or worse with dirt lies. For $200 a round, especially before the heat of summer, I'd expect a whole lot better. Only positive was the quality of the greens. Will be taking Oyster Reef out of our rotation for our annual HHI trips.

Oyster Reef used to be our go to course but I can no longer recommend the course. The front nine fairways had little to no grass. The back nine were marginally better. The new carts do not have modern electronics. The traps were not raked. The “so called” women’s tees were none existent. Women’s tees on the front of the men’s are ridiculous and slows play unnecessarily. All that for $350+ per twosome. No thanks.

★ 1

I really wish I had read the recent reviews before paying $200 to play here. The fairways are ridiculous, you're pretty much hitting off of hard sand. Greens are in decent shape, but that's it. This was one of the worst golf experiences we've ever had.

Source: Google

Christopher Villasenor

★ 2

Greens are in great shape but the fairways are in poor condition, which is another way of saying you are playing off of hard pan dirt. To be fair, this course is usually a highlight when we come to Hilton Head but this spring put your $200 elsewhere!

4/14/25 - Played Oyster Reef today. Glad to be playing golf, but not on this course! The fairways were the worst I have every played on. I have seen better fairways on a goat ranch. A majority of the fairways had very little grass on them. If there was grass, it was a super thin lie. The price you pay, you expect grass, not dirt in the fairways. Play anywhere else, except for this goat ranch!

Unfortunately this was the last of our 5 rounds of golf while vacationing and was a sour experience to end the trip. We were the first group out and didn’t have anyone pushing behind us until after the 9th hole when the marshal started following us from hole to hole. We asked him why he was following us and he said the group in front of us was 2 holes ahead. Since we were the first group out, the group ahead would’ve only been golfing the back 9 and he expected us to keep up with them, instead of golfing on pace. He also said each hole should take eight minutes which would mean you’d golf 18 holes in just over two and a half hours, which is ridiculous (maybe the tee times are every 8 minutes??). We finished all 18 holes in 4 hours, 1 minute. At the end, the staff helping with carts didn’t realize who was a part of our group and we overheard them making fun of us for complaining about the marshal. Overall very unprofessional staff. If the service isn’t enough to deter you from coming here the grass should. It barely exists. It’s like trying to hitting off of pavement and if you’re off the fairway you’re on a foot thick of pine needles. Golfers beware.

Fairways in very poor condition (March 2025). Greens in good condition. Starter and ranger both horribly rude. Ranger roared up at hole six and immediately told our group to hit and play faster without noticing a group ahead on the ladies tee. Not close to worth the price. I will not be back.

Oyster Reef Golf Club will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Last Friday, I proposed to my girlfriend, Rachel, on the iconic 6th hole, and the entire experience was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make the day special.

The course itself is phenomenal—immaculately maintained fairways, stunning scenery, and a layout that is both challenging and enjoyable. But what truly set the experience apart was the incredible hospitality. I called ahead a couple of weeks before to ask if we could take some photos on the green after the proposal, and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. On the day of, the employees were cheering, shouting congratulations, and sharing in our joy. The Pro on staff was especially generous, adding to the magic of the moment.

Oyster Reef provided us with an unforgettable experience, and we can’t wait to return. Whether you’re looking for a top-tier round of golf or a place that treats its guests like family, this course is second to none. Highly recommend!

Horrible experience. The Marshall was a jerk. Told us to move quicker but yet there was people right there on fairway. So shall I hit into the joining company? The “Marshall” came to us at the 9th hole and was trying to tell us how to play golf faster… to have us all hit at the same time while we were playing at a faster than the 4 hour 20 minute pace. The “Marshall” was super rude and talked bad about my group to the group behind me who was also with us as a golf trip. Super disrespectful and still finished the round faster than pace without his recommendations with nobody pushing us from behind. Very disappointing for his service. Finished before 4 hours and for a group on 4, Super hilarious for a “quality course”. Paid a lot of money, congrats.

5/5. Up there for top round on HHI this trip. Got greeted by the cart guy. Range balls on the range with nice grass and targets. Putting green was in similar shape to the true course. Greens rolled true, not a ton of break and werent SUPER quick. Guys in the shop were nice. Beautiful water features on nearly every hole. The starter was a great guy. Wouldve loved to play a bit better but thats golf.

Improvements:
Maybe upgrade carts to have yardages. Other than that I would love to play again when its not still dormant season!

Everybody on the course was super friendly… besides the pro shop guys. Extremely rude to the point I didn’t want to give them any more of my money to purchase a qzip or polo. Beautiful course with animals and crisp greens. I would recommend a surrounding course based off of how crappy I was treated in the pro shop. I’m not sure if it was a dad and son duo they had but they both had the same level of rudeness and made my round not as enjoyable as it could have been. Also got charged $50 for a ride-a-long fee which was fricken ridiculous. I guess Hilton head is known for its golf…not its people.

Course in good shape. Fun layout. Most staff very friendly and helpful. The exception was the "ranger" who was an ass! We had no issues until he was rude to our group heading to #10 box. Told us we were late, to skip hole 10. Of course we said no. Then told us to go to 11 and play 10 later. We said no. The guy was rude and unprofessional in his communication to paying guests. After golf in the club house I was talking to a guy from the group in front if us and he did the same crap to them. That guy was still upset...as we were.
This guy should learn to be nicer....or be fired!!

All around a fantastic course. Holes vary requiring a full bag of clubs and being creative with shot shapes provides an advantage. We played 11 rounds in a week for a golf trip and this hit the top with other courses due to facility, beautifully manicured greens, fairways and tee boxes (we played all sea pines and palmetto dunes courses except Atlantic dunes due to overseeding). The practice facility is great with complimentary range balls. They do have showers, which they graciously let us use since we needed to get to a flight. Highly recommended. We will definitely play it again when we come back.

Terrible conditions on several greens, and there was NO MENTION of these conditions from ANYONE on their staff before the round. ($50 public course conditions at $130 resort rates)
Second time playing this course, and it has deteriorated significantly since last spring. The 9th had new sod in areas of the green and tons of sand making it basically unplayable. The others had similar bad spots that were just overfilled with sand. Apparently they lost some of these greens in the heat of summer, but they make no attempt to be honest and own the current conditions. In fact, at least 2 staff members commented that "people are saying the course is in great shape right now."
Having struggles with greens happens on almost any course, but to pretend they don't exist and charge as much as they do is a total joke! I play 150 rounds a year all over the country, and this was the worst condition to cost ratio I've seen all year. Just sad...

★ 2

Very disappointing. Nice layout, but the course was in horrendous shape. We called and asked at the time of reservation about recent aeration and were assured the course was in great shape. We showed up and the greens were recently aerated, there was sand everywhere, there were large chunks of sod poorly placed on the greens, and the 9th hole had a makeshift green 50 yards short in the middle of a sand trap. It was a joke given how much the round cost.

Greens are rough, staff (not all) are clueless, they let foursomes stop for lunch and go back out whenever they please, they certainly over serve the golfers and it just wasn't a fun day. Not scenic, not hard, just kind of there. We won't be back and won't recommend this place to anyone.

This course blew every expectation I had out of the water. We had a group of eight guys and Brian made sure we were setup to have an awesome trip at not only Oyster Reef, but also the other three courses in the Heritage Collection. The gentleman working at the bag drop was awesome and made sure he set the mood for the awesome day we ended up having. Once you get checked in, you get to hit on the range with their Premium Callaway range balls and there is a great practice putting/chipping green right behind #1 tee. The starter provided some great information on the course and built up the hype for their signature hole, #6, which is a par 3 that provides one of the best golf views on the entire island. Pace of play at Oyster Reef was solid for a pretty stacked up tee sheet on a Friday morning and the conditions were awesome for the lack of rain over the last month. The course layout was challenging on a few holes, but hitting a solid golf shot was rarely not rewarded. The greens had been aerated about a month or so prior to us playing and they rolled about as true as I imagine they can! If you are visiting Hilton Head and want to play some extremely fun golf, do yourself and visit Oyster Reef!

Played 18. I loved the course, the pros and the starter were some of nicest people around. Once the cart girl realized that we weren’t buying anything from her she decided to stop us and tell us that “she was going to educate us” She accused us of having outside alcohol and said we couldn’t have our water bottles out there. The only alcohol we had, was purchased at the club house and 2 bloody Mary’s from her. Play the course, don’t tip the old bag driving the refreshments cart!!!!

I don’t recommend playing here if you are looking for a casual round of golf, especially for higher handicappers like myself. Course conditions are ok, seemed like a lot of repair areas. The real issue is they are ridiculous about pace of play and clearly only interested is taking in as much money as they can. 200 golfers with 8 minutes between tee times on what can be a challenging course and they wonder why it gets jammed up. We were 10 minutes off pace on the front and the ranger was standing at 10 and made us skip to 11. Staff was mixed bag. Cart attendant helping when we arrived was a good guy, pro shop seemed friendly enough. Starter was the nicest. Rangers are absolutely rude. Not concerned at all about an enjoyable golf experience to paying customers, just traffic. Really nice course on Hilton Head Island. The layout of the holes were fun and the course was pretty well maintained. We got rained out on hole 10 in the late afternoon and there were no workers around anywhere - the pro shop was even locked up. I went to the tavern next door to see what we should do. Would have been 5/5 stars if someone was around for a rain check or to help us. For instance, Sea Pines Resort staff at a neighboring golf course on the island were in their pro shop even later in the evening and provided us rain checks for our round that was rained out last week.

If I came to this course and had a great experience from the staff, I would still argue that the courses shape and condition make the $150 cost a bit too pricy. However, the service level was an absolute 0 out of 5 which just made the whole experience extremely unpleasant.

We had a 7:50 tee time for a duo. We were not going to warm up on the driving range, we were just going to go ahead and tee off once we arrived. We did come out of the vehicle 2 minutes late, so the first thing I said to the outside golf pro was “we apologize for coming right on the dot”.
He gave us attitude right off the get go, asking for the last name of the reservation and saying that we are late. I gave him the last name, thinking that he asked for our info in order to check us in.

He then drove our cart to get the set of rental clubs, and in about 1 minute he came back to see us waiting for him. He said “Why did you not go inside yet to check in?! You are already late!!” I told him that we thought he checked us in, since he asked for the tee time and the last name on the reservation (we payed online).

So we walk over to the inside of the golf shop. The main golf pro inside told us immediately as we told them what our tee time was “Well then I suggest you guys better hurry it up!” So I told him what our situation was, and that the outside pro did not let us know to check in inside, since some country clubs check you in outside. His demeanor was very very condescending and negative.

When we drove out to tee off, there was a golf helper on the way to hole #1, and after we told him a bit about our situation he apologized on behalf of the two “golf pros”. I didn’t get his name down but his tag said he was from Columbus Ohio. He was the first person who understood customer service, and was very kind.

The golf course itself is not in the best shape. I do love the water features and a glimpse of the ocean on one whole, but this place had the greens upkeep that is similar to a $30-40 public course.

If the golf pro inside told us to wait to come out since we missed our tee time, or even if he said that we would have to completely reschedule, the whole situation would be much better. I understood that we came about two minutes late. Instead, it was a very condescending and negative demeanor from two different professionals.

Heritage Golf Group has held a stake in the Hilton Head Island golf scene for a long time. Since 2005, the company has owned three of the island's oldest and most respected golf courses - Oyster Reef Golf Club, Shipyard Golf Club, and Port Royal Golf & Racquet Club. Now, with the addition of Palmetto Hall, Heritage Golf proudly offers 117 holes of robust, championship golf on Hilton Head Island. No matter which course you play, you’ll enjoy the beauty and character of each, with its many lagoons and ponds. Just beware of the alligators! Here’s a quick look at Oyster Reef Golf Club.

Over the years, Oyster Reef Golf Club has been recognized as one of the most spectacular golf courses on Hilton Head Island. This Rees Jones design is carved from 190 acres of breathtaking low country terrain and has received numerous accolades from golf publications such as Golf Digest (“Top 75 U.S. Golf Resorts”) and the Low Country Golf Course Owners Association (Top 20 courses in the Carolinas and “Golf Club of the Year.”) Here you’ll find elevated tees and lush fairways lined by thick stands of live oak and pine trees as well as strategically placed grass mounds and sand bunkers. Greens come in all shapes and sizes, and several have multiple tiers. It too is a favorite among local golfers.

One of the most memorable holes is the par-3 sixth hole, which plays 145 yards from the White Tees The green is set against a backdrop of Port Royal Sound making it one of the most photographed and visually spectacular holes on Hilton Head. Pay attention to the bunker in front of the green; it has seen its fair share of play from golfers too busy admiring the scenery!

Oyster Reef has excellent practice facilities including a full-length driving range, short game area, and practice green. The staff of PGA Professionals at any of these courses can help you get the most out of your game. They offer private lessons, group lessons, camps, and clinics for golfers of all skill levels. There’s no excuse not to play your best when you step up to the first tee.

Heritage Golf Group has partnered with two local resorts: The Westin Resort & Spa and The Sonesta Resort. To get to the Sonesta Resort, you drive right by the Shipyard’s clubhouse, making it easy to get in an extra nine holes in the evening.

The Sonesta Resort is a AAA Four Diamond family-friendly beach resort that recently underwent a $30 million renovation. The renovation included a spectacular new swimming pool complex with a shaded lap pool and Jacuzzi, a zero-entry heated lagoon swimming pool, and a children’s area. The 340 spacious guest rooms and suites offer views of the Shipyard Plantation grounds, lush tropical gardens, swimming pools, and the Atlantic Ocean. The resort offers indoor and al fresco dining at Bayley’s Lobby Bar & Terrace, Seacrest Restaurant and Terrace, and Sweet Cane restaurants.

At the Westin Resort & Spa, coastal splendor meets southern hospitality. The resort sits nestled amid natural dunes and Hilton Head Island’s pristine white sands, The Westin Resort & Spa offers its guests oceanfront resort views from most guest rooms, the Heavenly Spa by Westin, and three outdoor pools. All of Westin’s bright, open rooms include WiFi, a flat-screen cable TV, a small refrigerator, and coffee-making facilities. There’s family-friendly dining in the Carolina Room, poolside dining at Splash, with additional dining at View 32 and Ingredients.

Any or all of these courses can be packaged together through The Heritage Golf Collection with a single phone call.

Oyster Reef was a fantastic experience. I went a few days prior to Shipyard and it was a terrible experience. In comparison, Oyster Reef was more friendly, faster, and cheaper. Reviews about how staff were unfriendly was not a problem I ran into. Everyone we interacted with was fantastic. Course is in good to excellent shape and is a steal for the price. I highly recommend this course! It seems they don’t get as much traffic as other courses and are quieter, makes for better pace of play.

We had to wait a few times for group in front of us (but not unexpected for a resort course). Our twosome was paired with another so we had a foursome. At the turn, the starter met us and when I asked the direction to the back nine, he simply said, “two twenty”. It took me a minute to understand he was telling me we were 10 minutes behind schedule. “What’s the problem?” He asked. I then proceeded to explain we had to wait on the group in front of us periodically since he clearly was upset on our pace of play. The other twosome pulled up to the conversation and asked if the wife could use the bathroom at the turn and he told us we could just wait until the next bathroom on the course. Most arrogant and entitled started I have ever encountered

Front nine is mostly average difficulty. Back nine is harder. Numerous water holes. Most greens are elevated. Tee boxes and greens in very good condition. Most fairways in very good shape. We paid $100 for.a 2:30 tee time.

I’ve been playing at Oyster Reef for 19 years! Unfortunately the “investment group that owns the course” has decided to gouge the Public!
My Son and two grandsons live in the Oyster Reef section of the Plantation and I treated them to 9-holes of play the other day. I was charged $140 for my son and I, then $84 for my grandsons who are both junior golfers! With tax, it was $249.
I belong to a private Country Club in CT, the charge for 18 holes and a cart for an invited guest is $75. The country club is pristine! Won’t be playing Oyster Reef any more!👎

Course was in pretty good shape. Rating is due to the fact the ranger was on us for pace of play when we were only five minutes from their “pace of play”. Completely understand if it was once but he was consistently on us when the guys behind us were never waiting. We also played 18 holes and did not see a SINGLE cart person to sell alcohol or food. For the price we pay that is absolutely unacceptable. With the ranger being on us the whole time so we couldn’t even stop at the turn to get more food or beer. Made it a really unjoyable experience for a vacation/resort course.

I would give 0 stars if I could. The Starter and Ranger were up our @$$ all day saying we were playing to slow. Thier carts state that the desired player pace was 4 hr 20 min. We made the turn at 2 hr and 15 min. maybe 5 min behind. We finished the round in 4 hr 12 min. They harrased us the entire back nine. It was the most unenjoyable round ever. We were not playing slow. Payed $284 for my wife and I to play, greens had patches of sod everywhere! One was at least 100 square feet!!! Paired us up with a couple and the lady didn’t hit one shot more than 50 yards WHEN SHE MADE CONTACT!!! Marshal was polite when he asked us to let 2 groups play through in the first 7 holes. I was fine with that however he never watched our group hit ONE SHOT otherwise he would have known why we were 40 minutes behind on the first nine. I am a 4 handicap and my wife is an 18 so WE weren’t the problem but we still had to skip the 10th hole completely to stay in front of the groups behind us. Needless to say we won’t be playing there again …….and you shouldn’t either

Good golf course that I have played several times while visiting HHI.
However, I will not be returning.
My friend and I called and made a 5 pm t time.
When arriving the “cart guy” was on the club house and he said we need to have the cart back by 8:30.
We said no problem.
The guy working the pro shop asked if we wanted to play 9 or 18 and we said 18.
He said we could pay for 9 and then pay for the next 9 on the turn.
We played the front 9 in 1 hour and 10 min.
Once retiring to the club house the “cart guy” was waiting on the 10th tee and was rude and told us we were done. I said we are going to pay for the back as instructed by the pro shop. He said they are closed.
He treated us poorly and was rude.
We will not be back!

best part is the initial staff, very friendly. Course is not in very good shape. Greens are bumpy and full of sand. Played midweek, mid day in 97 degree heat. Very slow round, 5 hours. No rangers to speed up play. Really not acceptable for a course of this reputation.

Worst golf experience of my life. Extremely rude staff, someone kept coming up to us to let us know that we were going too slow and slowing down the pace of play. We rarely saw anyone behind us and finished in 3 hours 50 minutes, well under the suggested pace of play. On top of that, I have played $15 courses in better condition. In fact, I would say most $15 courses are in better condition. This place charging what they do is absolute robbery. Sand all over the greens, the sprinklers were on on the 9th green. If you want a good golf experience in Hilton Head, I would recommend literally anywhere else.

Fader beware!

Great course! Excellent condition. From the tees to the greens this place is top notch!!! This is a must play, but if you fade the ball, left to right, beware! I can only remember one hole that goes left to right… the rest of the time it seemed to go right to left.

Somewhat pricy but worth it because of the conditions. Greens are nice and firm albeit a little on the slow side.

Grabbing some beers won’t break the bank like some other places.

Go play here and have a great time! Use your GHIN app to see the holes because there isn’t any GPS.

Enjoy!!!

How long does it take for a cart girl to make the rounds, and how long should a Wednesday round take? 2.5 hrs and 5+ shouldn't be the answers. We saw the cart girl on the 1st fairway, then at the turn/clubhouse, then as we went to 18 from 17. With no water on the course for the 1st nine, we got kind of parched. At the glacial pace the course was running, should have seen her at least a couple more times. And a Wednesday, it shouldn't be a 5 hour+ round. It's not that hard of a course, and no cart restrictions...

The course was in great shape itself, yes. Greens rolled true and fairways awesome. I'd give it 4.5-5 if the amenities matched the price paid. Of course you may have a better experience... But I don't think my expectations are that out of whack.

Not a course you need to pull out driver often, most of the par 4's and 5's dogleg between 225 - 250 yards. Course is challenging with narrow fairways. Unfortunately greens were punched a couple of weeks ago, but all in all not bad. The two greenside bunkers I was in were like hitting out of nearly-dry cement after several days of rain, but to be expected. I would play this course again, but if I had my druthers... either in late spring, early summer or the fall to avoid the rainy conditions and the punched greens.

Would have liked to have some food and a drink at the turn but felt like we couldn't. Basically forced to skip the turn based on the starter telling us to pick up the pace. If you don’t mind paying $100 +/- off season for a five hour round with no one moving things along on a poorly manicured course then this is your place. Decent layout. One beautiful par 3 taking you out to the water but pretty pedestrian besides that. Sadly a typical Heritage Golf experience.

Oyster Reef Golf Club offers the best value on Hilton Head Island. The course was breathtaking. Pristine fairways, perfectly rolled and speedy greens, with a layout that punishes the uncalculating shot. I’d tried other courses and their greens were painfully slow in late September. I’d reckon the greens at Oyster Reef Golf Club were the fastest publicly-available greens on the island at that time. You will not find a bunker with too little sand on the course. From the blue tees, this course is punishing. To play well here, it’s exceptionally important to question driver off of the tee. This is a “plodders” golf course through and through.

I was a bit disappointed playing Oyster Reef. We took a later tee time (3:16) so my Wife’s pace of play wouldn’t hold anyone up. Bag drop and check in at the clubhouse went well and the pro shop staff was friendly. The greens were rough. I asked before making the tee time what kind of shape the course was in and I was assured it was great. The greens were like putting on sand paper - possibly the slowest non-punched/sanded greens I’ve ever played and coverage was sparse. There was no starter/ranger, the range was closed, tips not set, and no beverage cart running. Additionally, our cart started to die on 15 and no one was available to answer the call in the clubhouse. Thankfully a member of the bar staff I called was able to locate the cart attendant and get a new cart out to us. For $95 twilight, I wasn’t expecting Harbour Towne but certainly was expecting a bit nicer conditions. Maybe the experience is different with earlier tee times.

I don't write reviews very often but felt the need to do this one for my experience at Oyster Reef. Arrival experience, the staff, clubhouse, all good. They were on schedule for our tee time and the starter was great by giving us an introduction to the course. The course is a decent layout, with tee boxes and fairways in great shape. The problem was the greens. Although, they looked great, they performed terribly. For almost a $100 green fee, you expect better, much better. They were so slow, you could actually hear the ball roll. It made for a frustrating round for me and my playing partner. There is no excuse for this on a course were expectations are higher.

With great upkeep, a really strong design and a most pleasing woodland environment, where the real estate is not intrusive, Oyster Reef is a joy to play and an excellent test of your golfing skills. Apart from the two back-nine par-3's, water is not a major issue here, but negotiating the significant green-side bunkering and the large, slick, superbly maintained greens, will determine whether you score well or not.
To visitors this is perhaps one of the lesser known names on Hilton Heads golfing panoply, but its definitely one of the Island's finest pearls.
