Pivotal Fitness Gym is in a word simply fantastic. It by far has the largest floor space and quality exercise equipment in the area.
Their personal fitness instructors far exceeded by expectations. My instructor (Lance) is respectful of my spinal problems and selected the proper equipment per my condition. The facility is ultra clean.
I highly recommend Pivotal Fitness Gym to anyone considering a gym membership.

I am in Greenville for a few months and was looking for a gym that would fit my needs. I checked out most of the gyms in the area and found that Pivotal was the most well-rounded and best equipped. Their main work out space is massive and there are plenty of free weights and machines available. I've never had to wait for an exercise I wanted to do. They also have an excellent space in the back that has artificial turf and functional equipment such as a sled, kettle bells, medicine balls, ropes, etc. On top of that, their managers have been super friendly. Chris helped me figure out what option would make the most sense for me and has been extremely helpful every time I see him. Highly recommend!

Was told my membership was canceled after I lost my credit card. They ended up double charging two months later, telling me that the cancellation never happened! Don’t go here if you value customer service at all. No reimbursement and not I’m out almost $200. Lesson learned!

When I signed up I was really excited to workout here. However, after working out here for a few months, the flaws became very apparent. There is extremely poor air flow in the gym and it gets incredibly stuffy and hot even in the winter. The hours are extremely hard to work with because they close very early and even earlier on weekends. Unfortunately I can’t change gyms because they lock you into a year long contract. They also randomly charge me with $30 “maintenance fees” which were never mentioned to to when discussing my plan. This wouldn’t be bad; however, it is already an over priced gym where they charge me 40 dollars a month after additional sign up fees. When I asked the staff how I could get the advertised “$32 a month” plan, they actually said “I have no idea”. It feels like they are trying to steal money from people who just want to get in shape and better themselves.

Good equipment, friendly people (both staff and clients). Well used, but never overly crowded; so there's good access to the machines, weights, weight benches, mats, etc. My husband and I have biweekly sessions with an excellent trainer, who always keeps it interesting with an endless variety of exercises to accomplish whatever we're needing. Both of us seniors have gotten a lot stronger--and we enjoy it!
There has been some turnover of trainers, but my current trainer is excellent too. I enjoy going in on my own also.
Update: I'm still enjoying going to Pivotal Fitness, and I work with a good trainer twice a week.

I joined 4 months ago. Very happy with the gym overall. Pivotal is never overcrowded and I’ve never waited on equipment. Plenty of open space for different types of cross training. Great gym. The staff and trainers are super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They got me started on my fitness journey, encouraged me along the way, and have always put my needs first, no matter what. The gym is very clean and well-maintained, with more than plenty of equipment to work with. It's the only gym I've ever felt comfortable in, and the only one I've ever looked forward to going back to. Also, I see a lot of reviews saying the gym is hot...? Don't know how it was like 4 years ago, but it's always been fine for me. The clock inside the gym displays the temperature and I've never seen it above 72degF.

This place is awesome!!! The staff is dedicated and will push you to become whatever you want to be. They meet you where you are at. You don’t have to be rich because they work with you to truly help. I’ve been training with Sam for 2 months and I’ve already met my halfway goal of seeing muscle. My first training session was with Chris who also kicked my butt. I’ve formed friendships with the trainers, and I love that they know me personally. My wife loves this gym as well because they have a lady’s room for the ladies to use privately. The facility itself is nice. I do like the private ladies side. I do love the child watch they have set up. The women were lovely. However, the training I was very disappointed in. I spent a lot of money for the personal training sessions and because of how I was treated by two different trainers I quit going which was very hard for me. One trainer lied about having Covid and exposed me and my family to it and we were sick for weeks over the holiday. Many many many sessions were cut short. The second trainer took over because of the Covid situation. This trainer ended all sessions early except the first one and the last session I had was about 20 mins. They had an appt during my session and after 20 mins of waiting I just left I was disappointed. I was looking forward to a gym where I felt comfortable in and now I workout at home because I have two little ones.

I am a mom of three toddlers. I’ve tried to join several different gyms since giving birth to my last baby. None of them worked out due to childcare either being too expensive or inadequate. Pivotal has been AMAZING! I’m finally able to work out with my husband again! Miss Phyllis takes such good care of my babies while we workout, I don’t stress or worry like I normally would. The gym itself has great equipment, nice locker rooms, and plenty of room to workout/train. I’ve lived in Greenville my whole life and been to most of the gyms around. I have to say Pivotal is my favorite! If you’re a parent that needs childcare while you workout do not hesitate!!!

Bait and switch. Signed up on their website for a free 30 day trial membership. I was contacted by their manager to come in for 30 minutes to get set up with the sales promotion. I arrived and listened and looked around for 30 minutes only to be told they will not honor the promotion they are advertising on their website and they will only waive the $99 enrollment fee and that if I wanted to sign up it would either be $40 per month with a contract or $49 without a contract and that the advertisement on their website is no good so they will not honor it. The advertisement on their website did not advise a expiration date.

I decided to share my thoughts on Pivotal Fitness and from the beginning I should have steered clear from them. Initially I received an ad stating that they were doing a month free and when I went in to look into getting a membership, the owner immediately told me that they were not doing that ad and literally walked away and left his staff to speak with me. 1st red flag! Still I went ahead and signed up for the membership on the basis of a month to month contract. When I decided I no longer wanted the membership, they tried to argue with me that I was in a contract and I stated no I was not and we agreed on month to month. We finally got that all sorted out and I thought we were good. Nope! Just as I was told my last billing cycle would be in June, guess who was charged again in July...ME!!! Called and spoke with a woman whose name I will not say, and needless to say very rude and did not even return calls. I finally disputed the charge with my credit card! This establishment doesn't appear to care about the people who sign up once they get their money. Would most definitely not recommend using this establishment.

I changed credit card numbers in between then and they started blowing my phone up trying to update it a month after I called and tried to cancel. When she drove there they said nobody was there to assist with the issue and the person who assisted first time did it incorrectly. This by far has been the WORST experience I've ever had. I cancelled my membership when Pivotal charged me $30 for a maintenance fee that I was NEVER told about when I signed up.

I initially spoke with Jena who stated the maintenance fee is charged after 6 months with the gym. When I told her I hadn't even been there for 6 months she changed her story😡😡. I spoke to Joe who refunded me my money and I asked several times was the membership cancelled and was assured it was and he offered me his card. Fast forward to today.

Pivotal deducted from my account $140.00. I spoke with Jena who stated that they kept my card information on file so that I could pay my last payment for my personal trainer which was $75. Per Jena my card payment was held for that reason!!!

But why the charge of $140.00 she couldn't explain why I got charged. As of the writing of this review I don't have my money, no explanation as to why they took my money, no e-mail as promised by Jena, Joe is MIA and this is RIDICULOUS!!!

I wouldn't recommend anyone to that gym because they WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY WITH NO EXPLANATION!!! NO customer service, asked for Corporates number and No One Has The Number. I JUST WANT MY MONEY BACK AND PIVOTAL TO NOT CHARGE MY CARD EVER AGAIN😡😡😡😡

I absolutely LOVE this gym. The reason I switched to Pivotal from Gold's was initially for better childcare for my baby. Ms. Phyllis in the nursery is AMAZING and treats my daughter like she was her own grandbaby. After switching, I cannot believe I did not make the change sooner. The women's side to the gym is huge and has all of the main machines, weights, and equipments you would want to use in the main gym but may want more privacy or a bigger area to exercise in. Both the men and women have their own sauna attached to their locker room. And the classes are great. I love tabata which is something I had never tried before Pivotal. Pilates and barre are also some of my favorites. The people are very welcoming and the juice bar attached to the gym has really delicious peanut butter protein balls. If you are looking for a new gym I would definitely check this one out!

We were members here when they opened originally and have come back to an even better gym with a nice clean facility supported by a friendly and helpful staff. The hours are very flexible and we find the additional resource of the performance center an option for a cross training workout to break up the normal free weight routine. All of the cardio equipment is maintained to the highest level and they have from what I can tell the latest machines.

Wish I could give this a -100000 stars. Cancelled membership in Sep 2017. Charged my husband and I a maintenance fee $30 in Dec 2017. Visited several times, asked to speak with manager in reference getting money back and then just got charged again another $30 Feb 2018. They owe me now $60! And I don’t even have a membership with them any more WTH is wrong with this place!!!! Please just go to planet fitness or somewhere else. These people WILL steal your money. This is like a mini nightmare. They just have my back account and there is nothing i can do to stop them from charging me.

Pivotal Fitness is a great gym! The staff, group fitness instructors, and trainers are wonderful- very knowledgeable and friendly. The facility is huge with very nice equipment. Additionally, there is a separate women’s-only area that is also large with lots of great machines.

I really like this place, friendly staff, nice equipment, I have been in a bunch of fitness centers and this one is really hot, if You go there, You start sweating inmediatly even in winter, they REALLY NEED fans all over the place.

Plenty of equipment and space to work out. The showers could use some work - soap dispensers about to fall off the wall, curtain rods missing clips for the curtains, some towel hooks broken. The locker room is spacious enough.

The first time I went to this gym was 2010 before I headed off for college and I LOVED it. Everyone was super sweet and fun and I even got a student discount. I joined the gym again when I moved back to Greenville and literally the only thing that changed was the floor and walls. Alot of the equipment is exactly the same and numerous machines in the women's room are broken. I wish they put their money into more fitness related things rather than the appearance of the facility. Also, it was quite expensive for a gym in my personal opinion.

The worst customer service from someone in a management position I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I left several messages for the owner and manager with no returned call. I moved across the state and informed them weeks in advance and asked what was required to cancel the membership. After receiving the wrong information it took over two months and more paperwork to cancel the membership than buying a house. The employees who worked at the front desk were willing to help, but I was always transfered to the assistant manager and hit a brick wall every time. Caryn was less than helpful and also refused to answer or return my calls. This gym is not worth the money or hassle.

I do not know why the negative reviews about this gym! Transferring jobs I know nothing about on that. The staff and class of members here are great. Big gym, clean. I really enjoy it. Guys staring at girls? Really what gym do you go to where a pretty woman is not going to be stared at. Unless it's a gay gym. I'm married but I will look at every woman that walks in just like the woman do at men. Unless your disrespectful to someone seriously? Get over your low self esteem fella. The gym is nice. The cancellation policy is aweful. I move a lot for work and have been a member of countless gyms. I have never had a more difficult time. I have had to write letters at some but that is nothing compared to here. I was moving out of state and they wanted a bill or pay stub to prove I was moving. How would I have a bill to my new address or pay stub until I had moved already. They said I could FAX it after. What a pain of a membership. Avoid at all costs. The gym is nice but you are a prisoner once you sign up.

My contract ended in December and they automatically renewed my contract and then wouldn't refund me the money they pulled out they informed me I have to give written notice after contract ends to make sure I didn't want to renew.. That's wrong and if that's the case what's a contract for?

They made it so complicated when I moved away and tried to cancel my membership. I got married so my last name changed as well, which added to the complications. I was given misinformation about how to cancel and has to wait until I received my new ids. I also invited a friend to a challenge and they tricked her into signing up for a membership. She did not even realize what she had signed up for and they started charging her credit card! Just be cautious when deciding to join this gym!

Run from this place! If you ever transfer because of your job, they will do everything in their power to make you keep your contract! I was transferred over 200 miles away, live in a hotel, and they would not accept a letter from my employer regarding my transfer. They must be hurting for our money. Find a different gym because this place is horrible!

If you want to pay a trainer to say that everything you're doing is great and never once push you or correct your terrible form, regardless of its potential future impact on your body, get a trainer here. The trainers who ask their clients to do squats on an upside down bosu ball (asking for injury) or watch on passively as their clients blatantly slack off, are the same ones who go out of their way to criticize and single out those of us actually using the equipment for its intended purpose. They refuse to respond to any feedback or requests of loyal members. Their sole concern is earning money. The list of equipment in need of repair for years at a time and new types of machines requested unfulfilled is too long to itemize. The main reason I workout here is my close group of workout friends who push one another, they are amazing and inspirational. Christina's Zumba class is fun too. The location is semi convenient. The juice bar would be a great addition but the two main times I would eat there are Saturday afternoon and Sunday, both of which are times it is closed. The back room/cave is in dire need of repair and is extremely dirty and dangerous however it is the only open area for tire flips, bringing your own rubber plates for dropping during heavy lifting and wallball throws. The wifi service in here is terrible. Don't bother doing yoga unless you have checked that there are no other overlapping classes otherwise you will have to find your chi to the sound of loud bass and a screaming instructor. I would love to try any of the free Pilates classes (some have a fee) however all of them are scheduled during the day so no one outside of stay at home parents can attend. Don't get me wrong, I spend more hours here than at home awake, however its potential as a fitness, proper form, loyalty, athlete focused facility is FAR from being realized. I have been a member for 4.5 yrs. ***1/22/15 update*** My membership was revoked because of my honest review. This shows how they feel about making things better for the loyal members who do care.

Some equipment is okay. As a whole, I do not like this gym. The trainers are a joke. It seems the only reason they are there is to entertain the clients. The exercises these guys have their clients do are ridiculous! Why would an obvious 65+ man need to use a bar in an overhead position to stretch his shoulders? Doesn't add up. So called "trainers" aside, 95% of the members here have ZERO gym etiquette! They stare extremely creepy at any female who enters the open area. Side note: I had to share a few words with a "gentleman" who was eyeing my girlfriend a little too much. Also, any gym should not have to have a "women's area". Just having to have this area says a lot about your establishment in a negative fashion. Enough about this place. Save yourself the trouble, find another gym. ,

Terrible customer service, after I got married and moved across the country I tried to cancel and it has taken 5 months and still being charged!! after sending multiple requests & their required piece of mail with new address on it yet it "kept getting lost". terrible way to run any business.
Do yourself a favor and go to any other gym in town.
