An excellent PF!
I have been working out in PFs since they became an entity, and this one is up there as a top facility that holds its own against any gym!
The facility was well equipped and the equipment was in good shape overall.
In addition, I was extremely impressed with the writing on the mirror; "phone call/texting conversations in the lobby only." This is a real "step up" from most Planet Fitness facilities - all of which suffer from too many people sitting on the (most popular) equipment and texting, etc.
No, this won't stop the behavior, but it is a step in the right direction and promotes a positive message. At the least it shows that PF is not oblivious to the fact that some people truly do come to PF to work out and get fit (not just "be seen" and play with their phones). I hope more PFs will follow this approach. It will lead to a better environment for all. More and more people of ALL Ages are starting to take fitness more seriously, and expressing at least some respect for us is probably a very smart business decision for PF which already has the other demographic (the "phoneys") sealed as patrons. (Those people will still sign up for memberships because their behavior is not tolerated at other gyms.) I hope this catches on! And I heartily applaud this facility for supporting this ethic. - THANK YOU! This made my day!

I used to visit this location often but changed to another for convenience. I stopped by today and the front staff were less than enthusiastic about greeting with a nod or smile, making eye contact, setting the tone for a productive visit. The entryway trash can was overflowing with trash, there was a huge pile of paper towels in the floor in the first stall of the men's room. But I realize some people are just trashy and some workers don't want to work. They just want a paycheck. Things have changed at this location I guess. Mgr, address these items please. Retrain the staff or find ones who like to make a difference in other people's lives.

I love the ab-work out room, not to mention the circuit training!
Then there’s all the extras that come with the Black Card Membership.
You get access to all the “extra amenities”, you can work out at any planet fitness in the US, and you can bring a guest to enjoy all of this with you every time you work out!
The amenities include the hydro massage and regular massage lounge areas, private tv’s on the treadmills and massage lounges (headphones or buds hook up without issue), tanning beds, standup beds, red light therapy, very nice-fully loaded locker rooms for men and women, and a gym with everything you need to put the body to work!!!

Seems like a good gym I drive semi trucks for a living across the country figured I'd get a day pass because I was in the area and a day pass it's more than their entire monthly pass they seem cool over the phone but I'm not paying $20 for one day for a gym that's $10 a month I try to workout as often as I can as im over the road and this is just disappointing

Equipment is not working properly, shaky, not stable and damaged ellipticals. Been going here many years and it seems it is not taken care of like used to. No equipment was broken or if so it was fixed. It has been months equipment is broke and not fixed. TVs in back are not hooked up completely. Toilets are full of toilet paper. Staff is on their phone and do not even realize you are standing at desk. I started going elsewhere for equipment but tanning beds are the nicest here in Columbia out of all locations.

The Columbia location doesn't keep up the tanning beds as required by changing burnt out bulbs no matter how many times you tell whomever is working the front desk. I have been telling them since October that bed 3 has 12 bulbs that need replaced and they have yet to follow through.
Most of the workers are usually on their phones and not interested in assisting you. I was impressed by the staff on February 16th. He was waiting at the computer for us after checking in for tanning and he was very polite and respectful.
When I travel I always go to the PF in Avon and that club is top notch. Their beds are always working properly and they even have workers that clean the bed after it has been used because you can't count on someone else to clean it like they expect us to do in Columbia.
Columbia needs to up their game and make it a place that people enjoy going to.

I left the Cayce location because of the discriminatory practices of some of the staff. When I called and asked for the manager by name they would not let me speak to her. They demanded to know who I was and the reason I was called. The manager Joyce tried to resolve the issue but the staff continued to make it worse.

Lowered to 4 stars because lately there have been many people working out and having conversations on their phone (more than "hey let me call you back"), talking loudly to others like it's their own personal gym, or not cleaning off equipment after using.

It's pretty bad when you're wearing headphones and listening to music moderately loud and can hear other people's conversations from several feet away.

They have a policy yet they ask us to let them know if someone is breaking the policy. I'm not interrupting my workout to do that. I like the gym because of the time open and equipment options but on the days I have to witness nasty people not cleaning equipment and hear people talking loudly, it makes me regret not going to a more serious gym, even if it costs more and isn't as convenient.

I had full intentions of joining Planet Fitness Cayce, SC today. Went by to check out the gym and was hoping to get a guest pass just to check it out. But because I went once as a guest 4 years ago, they wanted to charge me for a guest pass. I was fine with that other than the fact the lady behind the front desk was so rude to me. Also, it was 1 oclock in the afternoon and the place was packed. I immediately left and joined Muvs Fitness in West Columbia, SC. Wow, what a different in customer service and it was not was packed with people in the middle of the day. The price at Muvs is only $9.99 every two weeks, if you go to just the one gym. Planet Fitness is a mad house. Also, when you join Planet Fitness the one time $1.00 enrollment fee is a scam. They actually charge you the entire $49.00 enrollment fee later on, as well as a $49.00 yearly fee. Do yourself a favor and join Muvs.

Update: canceling your membership does not stop them from charging your bank account for membership fees, even worse than I thought. Employees are no help with this issue.

Wait times are too long for machines I want to use and you cannot cancel your membership without coming to the physical store. I already know I'll get the run around when I try that.

This location is very busy and isn't big enough to accommodate all the people coming in. Too many people using machines and not cleaning up but just walking away onto the next machine to dirty up. Staff was not on the floor any in the two hours I was there. I counted five people behind the check in desk. Locker room was dirty and toilet area was in dire need of cleaning. There is clearing not enough Black room accomodations, i.e, tanning beds and Hydro massage machines. This location is too small for the amount of traffic. More attention is needed by the staff as far as cleaning the facility throughout and being present on the floor.

The staff are pretty cool and helpful. The gym usually stays clean and organized. No one cares or pressures you about your work out. You will have to wait for others to use a machine like any other gym. Most people are very courteous and polite. Safe and clean place to get your workout. It's inexpensive monthly membership fee. They also let you bring a guest with your membership which is awesome! And dont forget to use the amenities like the message chairs, tanning booths, and showers.

November 8, 2023 at 3:30am I went into Planet Fitness in Cayce SC which I do pretty much every day this early in the morning for the past 4mths and I work out and tan. Well I’m wanting to recognize one of the employees in there his name is Brad and I have to say I’ve never seen the tanning beds so clean and the bathrooms so clean and stocked with tissue and paper towels. Anytime I see him in there he always working so hard, never see him just standing around. He deserves to be definitely be kept around because he’s one of the good ones who needs and appreciates his job.

I must say, Planet Fitness Cayce West Columbia, SC is the truth! It's very spacious, clean, the showers have two curtains, one where you can change and get naked privately and have you clothes and devices hidden. Then the othe curtain to shower behind and not worry about your items getting wet more importantly nothing getting stolen because your bag is hanging out of your view. I must admit, this is the best location I've been to hands down. I have to give the manager Trent his flowers. He is a true professional and went above and beyond to help me I am truly grateful for his service. He didn't make me feel like I was a nuisance. Trent showed that he understood where I was coming from and displayed true empathy. Shout out to Planet Fitness and their staff members like my guy Trent. 💯

I do like this location. I am from Atlanta staying in Columbia on business. I come here at least once a week. I was there last night and the womens bathroom was dirty.
