I travel for work and Planet Fitness is great for that. This week I had my best and worst experiences at PF. I started my week in Rochester Michigan absolutely the best Planet Fitness I've been to yet. I just left the Planet Fitness in Charleston South Carolina and it was the absolute worst experience I've ever had at any Planet Fitness that I have been to. The locker room was just nasty, and they've only been open for an hour. The floors were dirty, the restroom area was dirty, and the shower not only had bugs in it but one shower look like what was feces in the floor. Next time I am in Charleston I will just skip the gym

I love this planet fitness. Friendly staff, awesome machines for weight training and clean showers! And of course they are the cheapest gym around! $25 a month for the black card membership, which is their best tier. If you’re not as comfortable with free weights, their machines offer an easy way to begin weight training. There are nice perks for black card members such as discounted beverages and use of the massage chairs, which is nice after finishing your work out. I also love their long hours!

Recently moved to West Ashley and needed to find a gym. The planet fitness at the Citadel Mall was perfect. Very clean well maintained facility. Wide variety of work out equipment. No shortage of cardio equipment. Very friendly staff . Clientele all very respectful, almost everyone I observed cleans machines before and after use. Place is open very very long hours. Price is right !!!!

Employees keep insisting photo id required for gym access, contract doesn't contain such requirement. Either this new policy needs to be updated on our contracts or employees need to be coached to accept no as an answer. It's weird they are pushed to enforce this so bad that the guy tonight felt he needed to lie about me needing it for gym access...

Located in a dying mall, this place and the MUSC will probably be the last things left. The site is decently big, which can give you room to not have people so close to you. However, the locker room could be improved. The last time I was there they had the old fashioned walk in household showers -with the curtain being held up by a tension rod... It fell when I was there... There are other nicer planet fitness locations, one being a couple of miles up the road. But if showering afterward is not an issue for you, this place is great.

This PF location is huge and clean! This was my first time here, as I had an Eye Doc appointment in West Ashley. I wish I lived closer and this was my daily PF! My only complaint is that the “back room” where the hip thrust, abductor and adductor machines are was EXTREMELY warm. Like a noticeable, 10° warmer, than the rest of the gym. Other than that, would definitely recommend!

This shouldn't even be a Planet Fitness 1). It's small compared to Hilton Head, Bluffton Murrells inlet?, S C. 2).I have been traveling between Hilton Head and North Myrtle Beach for the past year everything there is only 1 hydro massage chair working ( totally unacceptable). Planet Fitness maintenance guy Zach is the bomb if something goes down its up and running. Murrells inlet,Mytle Beach, Charleston there equipment always has problems takes forever to get running. A fish stinks from the head first so PF fix the situation before some competitor does

I recommend Planet Fitness at Citadel Mall for anyone looking for a clean, well-stocked gym. I go early in the day and never have to wait for a machine. I have yet to have to wait for a treadmill or elliptical trainer as there are a ton of them. The gym itself and the bathrooms/locker rooms are always well-stocked and clean. The staff is friendly and always willing to help and answer any questions. I'm a gym newbie, and the staff are all very patient and non-judgmental when I have questions about a machine.
I have a basic membership, which is super affordable and well worth the price. They have an upgraded membership option if you're interested in tanning and sauna services.
As with any membership situation, be vigilant and read the membership/auto-draft agreements. They seem fair and reasonable to me, but as this is a chain, you may have to take several steps if you want to cancel your membership and stop the auto-draft. They are transparent about all agreements and fees when you sign up, so there are no surprises down the road as long as you take the time to read them.
Overall, I highly recommend Planet Fitness!

The gym is honestly a nice facility, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

I moved recently and was lied to about the process of transferring my membership to another gym in the franchise. Attempts to fix this led to being given more misinformation by the managers here, and they claim to be unable to refund some charges I received. They told me to just eat the charges in the end, so I did. Because of this I'd honestly not recommend using this facility.

Where do I start...the Planet Fitness at the Citadel Mall is fabulous :

1) The gym is always clean. The staff is routinely vacuuming the floors, replacing equipment cleaning solution, refilling paper towel dispensers.
2) The locker room is always clean and fresh.
3) The equipment is brand new and well maintained.
4) The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming.
5) The gym is nicely lit and ventilated.
6) The gym hours of operation are fantastic.
7) Parking is available right outside the door.

The only issue (which is a comment of many of the gym members that I talk with have and admittedly isn't the issue of Planet Fitness) is the fact that the roof leaks during heavy rain storms and buckets are placed on the floor of the gym to collect dripping water from the ceiling. The Citadel Mall ownership needs to step up and repair the roof. The leaky roof is a safety hazard and it is ridiculous seeing 'diapers' hanging from the ceiling to catch the dripping water. During a recent storm, the gym was closed for a few days due to excessive water coming thru the roof. Shame on the mall ownership. Again...this isn't a Planet Fitness issue but prospective members need to know of this issue!

This location is generally not overly crowded, which is nice. The machines, weights and equipment have all been recently updated. Almost all the machines are in working order. The gym and locker rooms are usually pretty clean. Employees are friendly and helpful. An entire bank of TVs don’t work, but it doesn’t affect much.

Let’s talk about the “charming” atmosphere. Who wouldn’t feel right at home knowing that just last month, there was a sexual assault on July 24th? Oh, and let’s not forget the shooting at the Citadel Mall on August 9th! And we mustn’t forget the bomb threat back in April that had everyone evacuate.
And if you’re worried about emergency situations? Don’t be! The lovely assistant manager (you know, the one with the long brown hair) is a true master of nonchalance. When a girl fainted the other day, I could almost hear her thinking, “Urgency? Never heard of it!” If you break a finger, well, consider that an advanced training exercise in self-reliance. After all, who needs first aid or reasonable care?
Now, I do appreciate the budget-friendly membership, but I think it’s important for potential gym goers to know what they’re signing up for. Remember, if you faint, you might get charged for that water bottle you needed—because hydration is so overrated! And if you happen to bleed on the counter? Just muster up the courage to ask for a bandaid. I’m sure they’ll find one... eventually. So, if you’re in the market for a gym that treats your safety like an optional accessory, look no further! Planet Fitness: where you can break a sweat and maybe break a bone, all while feeling absolutely zero support from management. Happy lifting! 🏋️‍♂️✨

Came into sign up to be a member gym since I have silver sneakers. The lady with long brown hair has nothing but auditude and gave me issues with joining gym. They had new girl working she didn't even hardly help her she barely knew how work system. I did sign up I just wanted to workout. The lady kept ignoring whole time. I have been a member for months and I always carry a water, a towel, and lifting shoes in my bag. Today I was informed that bags are not allowed in the facility. I understand the business model of Planet Fitness, however, this is the most idiotic policy I have ever heard. God forbid I or anyone for that matter has a condition that requires them to carry a bag with them including diabetics who may have to carry monitoring devices, insulin and other medical supplies. A bag is not intimidating, what is intimidating is being told by management that you are violating policies without being able to justify such policies.

The management staff is the absolute worst!! Brandon and Amber the General manager! My account was debited 10 times to many. There were also 10 memberships created for me when I first joined. They laughed in my face and said it was a glitch in the system and it happened to many members. They are not willing to do anything to compensate for it. My only complaint that I have is that it takes way too long to get equipment fixed. We only have two cable crossover machines to start with. One of them has been down for almost 3 weeks. This is a piece of equipment that a lot of people use. So, you’re lucky if you’re able to get on it at all. It is one of the most important pieces of equipment for my workout. Why does it take so long to get stuff fixed?
