The gym was opened very quickly after the passing of the storm.
They were there even when their own homes
Were without electricity.
It was great to go to the gym in those difficult days of the early recovery.
I truly appreciate them and their hard work.
Showers were open to non member community. This was a great service to our community.

I go to this PF due to location (and the locations of others). Overall, good machine and weight selection and friendly staff, but I have a few complaints.

First, they have around 20 elliptical machines, and I’ve never seen more than 4 of them being used at a time. Often, none of them are being used. On the flip side, chest fly machines, leg extension machines, and calf curl machines only have 2 each and very frequently are tied up.

Additionally, it’s not the cleanest PF. Not filthy but could be cleaner.

And it is very annoying how the fountain water is lukewarm. Why not refrigerate it a little more?

Overall, fine place to workout, but they could use the space a lot better.

The gym is great. The staff is always welcoming and friendly and the equipment is very varied for many types of work outs. It’s also very clean and well maintained My biggest complaint actually has nothing to do with the gym itself, it’s the insanely tight parking spaces out front. If there’s a vehicle larger than a sedan then it is incredibly hard to fit into the allotted space without feeling like you’ll bump someone’s car when opening the door. Please, please work with someone to make these spaces wider. I have a hatchback and had to enter my car from the passenger side just to get in. True story. Thank you for listening.

The management and staff here at our home location seem to be very intent on keeping the gym in order. Shout out to Shannon who can be seen frequently checking and refilling the paper towels and sanitizer. I’ve seen others cleaning the bathrooms, which are spotless. Also, I have noticed when a piece of equipment is out of order, it is promptly repaired.
My husband travels for work often and has the Black Card membership. He misses this location when he travels.

Oh lord, where do I start? So, I went to Planet fitness after doing some errands. I had my gym clothes in my gym bag. I was wearing a dress and flip flops. I walked in and scanned my code. An older gentleman (I’d say in his 70’s) was looking at me oddly and make a comment about exercising in my dress. I said “oh I have my gym clothing in my bag” he proceeded to say “oh man don’t change out of your dress. I want to watch you work out in that dress” which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. There were other employees present. I had to step out of the gym for a minute and when walking out I talked to a female employee how uncomfortable that comment made me feel, from an employee! When I came back, I had my ear buds in and listening to my music on the treadmill and the same man came up to me while I was running, climb on to the treadmill next to me and continued to bother me. At that moment I wiped my treadmill down and left the gym. When I left I talked to the same lady again and let her know how ridiculous this entire thing is. A lot of women don’t like going to gyms because we don’t want men hitting on us, watching us or making comments to us, I never thought that I would have to deal with it from an employee!!! I will not be back as long as this man is employed here.

The planet fitness on Wade Hampton Boulevard is an excellent gym. It's part of the silver sneakers program which is part of my Medicare health care plan. So if you're a senior ask your program if they provide free gym membership like mine does!! 😁 The personnel here or friendly professional and efficient!!!!

Literally their staff is constantly on the cell phones when I go in. I have complained and spoken with the manager and it seems to stay the same. Go in to tan and have to wait for the employee to get off the phone to get signed in. It gets extremely old, and it's why I go to Verdae location a lot more. There staff at Verdae doesn't seem to have the same issues.

I love the changes planet fitness has made to their workout sections of the gym. I enjoy the new design layout as well as the new layout for the black card members with the spa area. It was inconvenient during their renovations to have to instead drive across town. But it was worth the wait! Let me tell you. It feels like they doubled their machines and improved the ventilation and air flow. I switched to this location after it became the closest to my work location. (I work night shifts.) This is only my second day at this location and I am already disappointed. The location is small and cramped. That’s not their fault. Locker rooms need some paint and updates. The TVs are smaller. Non of this really affects my workout and I don’t mind at all. Cosmetics is not an issue. My issue is I showed up at 6:38am and the doors were still locked. Per their window, they open at 6:00am. Per the app, the open at 7:00am. So I waited along with a few others. 7:30am came around and still no one showed up. This is massively disappointing. I may have to bite the bullet and drive the 30 mins to my previous location from now on. I work out soley for my mental health, and missing a day hurts me.

Starting my New Year’s resolution with a positive experience. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been in the gym so I was a little nervous but the Asst. Manager was so sweet and patient with me, she helped put (most of) my doubts to ease. Like me, this poor young lady had just gotten over the flu but she took her time to answer all of my questions and reassured me I wasn’t going to “die” after taking years off from properly exercising - I’m still pretty sure I’m going to be sore for a long time. I feel good about my experience this far and look forward to adding my gym visits to my daily routine.

finally got some equipment which is nice. customer service is non-existent. i come all times of the day, half the paper towels are empty most of the time. it’s like a wild goose chase. if you need to use a black card amenity you have to stand awkwardly and wait for them to look up from their phones or stop taking to each other (or random girl who is always hanging out up). wish there was a way to just access what you need without them.

Whoever was working night shift on 01/07/2024 Sunday night, he needs to get fired. I’ve been going to planet fitness over 5 years and every time i get in everybody is welcoming with smiley face and never had any issue with people who works in the planet fitness. But today I went in and said “Hey, how you doing?” And didn’t get any response or anything. I thought he didn’t hear which is okay but when I was leaving I waved him and said “ you have a goodnight man” he looked at me and turn away. I’m not expecting anything but kindness. I don’t know if he’s not happy with his job or whatever but this is not the first time he’s doing it and I finally decided to post a review just because of him. I’m pretty sure there are other people who has better attitudes but this guy just made my mood down and I’m not really happy about it.

I really appreciate your prompt response, and the gym is a great gym, don't get me wrong. There's never too much of a crowd that you can't get something done, although the Smith machines are kind of always tied up, and only a couple of the plethora of cardio machines are showing signs of age (squeaky, but no big deal at all). Locker rooms are spacious and orderly.
Again, my only complaint with planet fitness except for a very very rude manager at the White horse location, has always been the fans.
Once you actually get a good heart rate up, and a light sheen of sweat, they will freeze you and make you so uncomfortable you are just begging to get off. And I paid attention to the other people to see if it was just me being whiner... Most are either doing level one, on their phones, or or are off their machines after 4 minutes. One guy stayed on the row machine next to me for 3 minutes and gave up.

And this is the fourth time I have just got so uncomfortable and distracted by the cold air, that I asked staff to turn the fans down, response is usually the same, they say they either don't know how or they're supposed to keep it a certain temperature. It's 63 indoors @ 2 in the afternoon... I think you can turn the fans down..j.s. let one side turn real slow, and let the other side go however you want, see which side fills up faster, I promise. Besides, you'll save a buttload on electricity.

It's W.I.N.T.E.R.. Aside from burning up the electric bill, you DO know each cardio machine has a built in fan the user can operate to keep cool right? I mean once you develop a sheen of sweat, like you're supposed to when you're doing cardio and your heart rate averages over 115 a minute, that's a GOOD thing, physiology wise, right? It triggers the brain to accelerate certain chemical processes, loosens the joints, a lot of good things. On the other hand, your core temperature being one and your outer temperature being something, honestly plays hell with the body in a setting like this. Muscles stay cold and tense, as do joints. Blood circulating through the hand, , the extremities, returning to your core is a much different temperature than it should be, so that's not doing the body any favors as far as trying to maintain a good burn. There's just a lot of really good functional reasons not to blast cold air in a place.

Please turn the damn fans down. Already asked nicely in person once. There's about 13 or so people in here wearing hoodies that would probably agree.
