Outright Scammed me out of 150$+, I reallyyy would recommend against this planet fitness location, though i understand it’s generally a cheaper option. Been going here for multiple years but definitely moving on after these last couple months

I called in asking about the summer pass in April and was told it was free all summer and I could come in the next day. Came in the next day and they confirmed that it was free, yet had me sign up and enter in my billing info. Was immediately billed for an annual fee, sign up fee, and the monthly fee… went back the next week to ask about it, and learned that the summer pass had not started yet. I asked about a refund and said I could just cancel the membership but that i was told it was free, and while i know that was a mistake- it’s unfair to bill me that much without telling me. Obviously they refused that refund.

After that I figured i might as well stick it out at planet fitness because it was free from then on, but then apparently they hadn’t even signed me up for the summer pass so i was billed AGAIN the next month.

Finally got signed up, and cancelled on august 12th as the summer pass was ending, but am being billed through september 19th. Now this part I understand is a normal policy and not an outright scam like the initial billing, however everywhere i could find online says that you have to cancel before the 25th, but for whatever reason it’s the 10th at this location. Not as big of a deal, just dont understand the policy.

Despite this i waited months to write a review because i just felt bad but ive begged for a refund and got nothing. Spent 150 dollars in less than 3 months for a “free summer pass”

If that isn’t enough the water fountains are typically warm and one is very worn down, and there’s only 2 which is a bit crazy for a gym. Sooo many machines often go months without maintenance despite being broken. Unless you only go for cardio, i really would recommend against this location.

Alarm system had a high pitched alarm going off between the doors for a week or more. There seemed to be a guy working on it all day, but all he did was make it worse, and now the alarm was going off inside the gym. GET A NEW ALARM COMPANY ASAP !!!!
THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARW DOING, AND/OR THEY ARE GETTING PAID BY THE HOUR TO DIDDLE AROUND AND RIP YOU OFF, FIRE THEM OR HIRE AN ATTORNEY. It should take 10 min to fix, not 8 hours-3 days, if they even fix it.

I really liked this gym until it became overcame by teens using it as a hangout. Every time I go, there is a teen on every leg machine with the weights on ten scrolling on their phone. Yesterday, I had a teen boy get rude with me because I accidentally took his machine when he was off of it hanging with his friends. He thought because he put his phone on the top of the machine and went to talk with friends it was ok to save that machine and proceeded to get loud and disrespectful to me because I sat down at that machine. I just left without finishing my workout.
It’s never happened to me personally, but I see teens videoing older individuals working out and making fun of them and sharing it on snap chat. Some of the teens there are great, and are actually working out and being respectful of others, but there is a big group of them who are using the gym as a mall to hang out. I am probably going to look elsewhere for a gym now.

The older gentleman at the front desk is extremely, extremely sweet and helpful. But the black haired middle aged/older female manager with glasses is not very nice. Twice I have tried to fill out the form to sign up with my mom (I am 17) and each time my mom doesn’t sign the right spot and the manager is not very nice. She made me cry in the stalls before my workout because I was so upset. I really do not want to come back but it is the closest gym to me and most affordable. The gym overall is great. Never had a problem with anyone or anything else. I think she just needs to be a little bit kinder to people who are not trying to do any harm..

Extremely disappointed with the front of house staff. I come to this gym nearly every day. My niece joined me because of a difficult family situation. I signed her in as a guest and was told she needs a photo ID with birthdate on it to prove she is 13. Even her school ID only has her grade. A birth certificate was suggested but it has no picture and who carries that around on them to the gym? Then, when I told my niece to just wait for me in the lobby, she needed to come ask me a question and the guy escorted her as if she was a criminal. Honestly just ridiculous.

In Mount Pleasant... I belong to Crunch, Golds Gym and Planet Fitness (thank you Silver Sneakers) and I will easily say by far Planet Fitness is the best facility !! Abundant amount and variety of equipment, from weights, to treadmills and bikes etc. Completely well kept, clean locker rooms and the shower stalls are bigger than my MBR one at home with overhead nozzle and body nozzle, amazing. And a Shout Out to the Staff as well... always welcoming you, always smiling, simply they love their work, thank you to all of you at the front desk.

For the past 3 days I have had to ask a member of the front desk staff to wear masks. That's totally unacceptable. Management needs to take a tough stance, or risk closure.

Tremendous improvement since prior review. The facility is spotless, large number of cleaning-Disinfectant stations throughout, staff is meticulous about masks in common areas.

I work out of town so I do the black card membership I’ve been member for 4 years this is by far the biggest planet fitness I’ve been too but staff is horrible. First visit I’m stopped at desk and am told that I have a balance which is weird because I have automatic withdraw I look in my app at balance and says 0 I show the guy he then proceeds to tell me he can’t see my balance because this isn’t my home gym but so weird because you just said I have balance he says your fine to workout but call your home gym I call my home gym they say nothing is wrong with my account everything is good.. second visit I get stopped at front desk and am told that I need to add another card to my account my card on file expiration date has expired so I asked what are the last four digits of my card he does something on computer and says oh I can’t see anything this isn’t your home gym so then I explained what happened my first visit he rudely says I don’t know call home gym… this last visit something tells me just drive further to another gym but no I come here I workout go to use hydro bed which that’s what it’s called everywhere I’ve been to but it the lounge chair and here you pick the time you want to go and scan your id which this is first gym I’ve been that does that so I see hydrobed and hydrolounge okay I don’t know what’s the difference Jamie proceeds with a very condescending tone it’s whatever your preference is okay well I can’t pick my preference if I don’t know the difference I know I don’t want to sit up she says one is sitting up and one is laying down so say that. RUDE STAFF!!!! All the times I’ve been here never welcome in or hello never have a good night or bye nothing just rude staff at the front desk. Greet people smile say hello your in customer service be nice to customers or go work in a cubicle where you don’t have to talk to anybody and reading these other comments seems like a lot of people have issues with staff not the gym itself.

I suggested to the manager today that they make two improvements: 1) get more benches, as I spent most of my workout time waiting for one, and 2) have the app reflect the actual usage, so I can schedule my visit around the busy times. When I arrived to the gym with my younger sisters we got stopped at the reception by the “manager” Grease, our experience with her was really upsetting since she was rude, unprofessional and racist, she implied that my 14 year old sister didn’t speak English and said with in a rudely tone “you can tell me in Spanish”, which the answer we gave her was that she can perfectly speak English, this wasn’t the first time she been rude to her, since the first time she was yelling at us. Can't beat the price for what they offer in terms of both hours and equipment, but I really wanted to brag on the staff. I dropped and AirPod into a stairmaster machine. All the staff were patient and friendly in trying to help, and Nick, one of the staff, was willing to basically disassemble the machine to help me find it. He put in serious effort and time and literal elbow grease(got grease from the chain all over him), and it felt like he was just happily helping a friend. Very thankful.

I'm a bit of a night owl so I went to planet fitness at an ungodly hour that most people aren't awake at as a guest with my sister's black card membership. There are a wide variety of machines to use and the ones I tried were very easy to figure out. Some even have instructions, which I really appreciated as someone who doesn't regularly exercise outside of my own home where I certainly do not have actual equipment. As I went so early (or late, I guess you could say) I got my pick of the machines and it did indeed feel like a judgement free zone. Maybe during normal waking hours it's more crowded and could be harder to find an unoccupied machine but I wouldn't know. I had a very productive leg day.

I have been coming here for years (on and off member) and have never had this experience. I don’t usually write reviews for things, although I felt that maybe people could benefit in the event they run into something similar.

Sometimes I will get a 24 pass if I am only somewhere for two days, which is amazing as you can get 2 days in of working out for only $10 (as long as you come in within the 24 hour period). This time I got another 24 pass, and there was a corporate lady (her name tag indicated this) up front when I went to come in on the second day of the 24 pass, as I had purchased it around 3pm the day prior.

The lady proceeded to (not very kindly) tell me that it is ‘expired’ and is only for a day, not 24 hours, even though the person who signed me in yesterday had said it was 24 hr, as it always has been. She then said it’s another $10. I haven’t left a place before out frustration like that, but it’s more about the principle of being consistent with how a business is run.

I used to love planet fitness, but not so happy with them now.

The nicest PF I've been to!! Super clean, big and new. The whole gym was impressive but the bathrooms were also really nice and included a lot of space if you are the type that gets ready after your workout. Each cardio machine has your own tv. Loved the tanning lotion selections and different black card chairs to enjoy. Check out the massage chairs, the cyclone and enjoy your work out! Excited to come back and start 2024 off right!

Overall a good gym clean respectful people. The one big negative if they have about 100 cardio machines and I've never seen more than 10 or 15 being used at a time. Move to South Carolina in 2022 from Atlanta. I absolutely loved my old gym but found a good location in Moncks corner. Loved working with trainer Fwayne. He had awesome classes and was consistent. Later moved near the Mount Pleasant location. This gym was good up until the point where they stopped having the trainers and no longer had classes. I went there all summer long and still no classes and not even planning to hire anyone to teach the classes.

I spoke to one of the guys on his last day and he said they can't keep trainers to do classes because they don't want to pay. Needless to say I am canceling my membership because in addition to using the weight machines the classes are what I really looked forward to.

Get it together Planet Fitness because now I'm over here at Crunch. I went from $20 a month to $34 a month at crunch but it's well worth it and the classes are amazing!

If you join crunch make sure you join in Hanahan or Charleston to get the premiere membership which is like the highest tier, then you can switch over to Mount Pleasant. If you join in Mount Pleasant it's going to be $49 per month.

I have never left a bad review but feel you need to know. I walk in and no one was at desk. Manager (I guess) was sitting on bench. I have a stretch stick because only 5% of the planet fitness I visit all over the US seem to have one. I was told rudely you can’t bring that in here. I tried to explain it was just a stretch stick and was cut off. I asked is that a planet fitness rule or just for that location? The rude manager said no outside equipment is allowed which I’ve brought it there before. On the way out I saw folks with towels and ladies with arm full of different things. I get rules and as a military person have no problem following them just don’t be rude.

I have never left a bad review but I am so troubled by one of the managers actions that I have to. I received a call from my two children letting me know that the manager stopped them at the door and questioned whether they have memberships or not (they do). She asked for one of my kids IDs which he provided at which time she accused him of presenting a fake ID (he gave his DL). He immediately left after she threatened to call the police while my other child went to work out. I called the gym to try to get the story, I was met by an extremely rude manager who accused my child of being disrespectful. When I inquired as to who was being rude she described someone who did not fit his description. I further inquired into the accusation of them not having memberships in which I offered member IDs from the contract, I was told I was wrong and I was being rude. I explained they were twins and they both had memberships at which time she denied questioning his ID, told me I was wrong that both boys were there and both boys didn't have memberships. At that point another parent arrived to handle the situation. The entire incident was recorded and as soon as she realized it, she apologized for yelling at them. My boys have gone to this gym for months with no issue. These are children, at any point this manager could have called a parent to clarify the situation. She had no reason to escalate and threaten my children.

Horrible management. Grace is a disgrace. Took 700$ from me when my card was stolen and REFUSED to give it back. The accounting company (which is separate from PF) called to asked for a refund and SHE WAS THE ONLY REASON IT WASN’T APPROVED.

STAY AWAY FROM GRACE!!! She’s horrible and has NO actual emotions. I ended up having to move bc SHE refused to refund me any amount and I couldn’t afford to stay where I was bc of this. I have still have NEVER been to Planet Fitness and after Grace, I never ever will!! The worst customer service ever!!!!

Ps, only gave a 1 star bc I had to. Should be 0. Grace sucks.

Great gym, good space, and helpful people. Music shouldn’t be as loud .. Sometimes you can hear it over your headphones. Too many high school kids during the summer… working out for FREE… not good. They’ll come in groups and take up all the space.. Planet Fitness should be more concern with their paying customers. I considered changing gyms because of this policy during the summer months.. not good. @planetfitness

I have been a member of Planet Fitness for awhile. Recently, I drove to Planet Fitness and they were closed due to an issue with the alarm system. I completely understand things happen; however, Planet Fitness has NO mechanism in place to alert members that they are closed, so I drove 30 minutes each way, which wasted an hour of my time. I contacted the manager, Grace Balfour, to explain the situation - I paid for a service that I didn’t receive and wasted an hour of my time, not to mention the gas $. She was completely unwilling to offer me any credit at all to compensate me for my wasted time and gas. I am a paying customer that didn’t receive the service I paid for. In my opinion, Grace is a horrible manager with VERY poor customer service skills. Hopefully, corporate will be more helpful when I hear back from them.

I was able to arrive in a 36 foot pickup truck and parked in the back. The employee Ladonna was very friendly. Even very very . I suggest you give her a raise . Everything is cool all clean and most importantly I was able to park a pickup truck , trailer. Generally next to every planets fitness gym I can park a 60 foot steppe one way or another. Thank you planets fitness for the opportunity to restore my health to drivers who drive around the states.

I travel and work out of my van #vanlife—been to many Planet Fitness gyms and this ones clean and pretty big. I visited thru the week in the morning and the staff was friendly but surprisingly I just left (Saturday)and really felt unwelcome. The lady at the front desk was pretty passive aggressive and honestly maybe prejudice. Hmm so sad but that’s life - the people really do make a difference
