About the Club

The Prisma Health Family YMCA is a full service YMCA that serves Simpsonville, Mauldin, and Fountain Inn with wellness facilities, group exercise classes, and an outdoor swimming pool. In the winter, the pool is covered by a bubble, so it's open all year long! The Y offers swim lessons, youth sports, after school and summer child care for school-age children, and opportunities for members to volunteer to improve their community.

Some of the teachers here and super rude. They treat people incredibly rude after being 5 min late due to THEIR OWN CHILDCARE.

They are oddly strict, and not welcoming. Would not recommend to anyone.

Such a great ymca. It's super friendly and helpful staff. I see them helping the senior adults often and they enjoy it. Everyone dresses appropriately almost all the time so that is a plus!!

Just finished 24 sessions with the best Trainer in the world. Estephanie Burbano worked with in my limitations and structure a workout plan that result in a 60 pound loss, I have more flexible and mobility then when I first walk into the YMCA. The staff is helpful and friendly as well. There are so many classes that are available of all skill and age levels. I highly recommend Prizma Health Family YMCA and trainer Estephanie.

I use to have a great time working out and swimming. They now have an assistant director named Liam who runs the pool like a dictatorship. He told me his deck his rules. Also made the comment I can go to someone above him but he will run his pool like he wants. I guess the ymca welcomes toxic staff members. They make enough money what does it matter if the loose 1 or 2 people because they want to have people like Liam calling the shots.

I’m really disappointed with the YMCA Childwatch at this location. The whole point of this service is to help busy parents like me get a workout in, but their rigid policies completely undermine that goal. I booked spots for my 6- and 2-year-old daughters on a Saturday morning, knowing they were supposed to be in separate areas due to their ages. However, my kids were very upset about being separated, so I kindly spoke with the manager and asked if they could stay together, especially since the younger kids’ area wasn’t busy at all.

The manager was stuck to a strict rule that felt completely out of touch with early childhood education principles. It’s well known that young children are likely to need support when separated from their parents, and in that case, my daughters were ready to support each other while being away from us.

What bothered me even more was that the only other time I used this service at this locationβ€”when my youngest was just 1 year oldβ€”I returned to find her buckled into a chair with a screen directly in front of her, as if they were forcing her to watch it. At the time, she hadn’t been exposed to screens yet, given her young age and the American Academy of Pediatrics’ (AAP) recommendations on avoiding screen entirely for children under 18 months.
The Child Watch service is supposed to focus on play and social interaction, not passive screen use.

Overall, this Childwatch felt more like a barrier to my workout than a help, and I would not recommend it to other parents who want a supportive, child-friendly environment. Moreover, I believe the center’s policies, including those related to screen and siblings, should be thoughtfully revisited to better support the needs of children and parents.

This used to be a great place to work out. I have been a member for many years. This place has lost its way. Inconsiderate people talking on their phones through their workouts, others socializing through their workouts, massive crowding during peak hours, staff who are responsible for equipment who never ask members what they would like to see, members allowed to do whatever they like with no intervention by any staff. If you are not interested in a workout, and want someplace to talk while you convince yourself you are working out, this place is for you. Did I mention the crazies that like to vocalize incoherent sounds. OMG.

Avoid coming to this YMCA location. They are extremely busy the majority of the day, and even more-so after normal working hours. Do not expect to come in and be able to find many cardio machines or weight machines available without waiting in line. Nothing is being done to aid in the busy-ness and in fact, things are going backwards.

The decisions made recently at this location do not benefit the member whatsoever. They removed the cardio theater (about 30~ cardio machines) in favor of more workout class rooms. They remove a large amount of weight machines in favor of an E-Gym system (which consistently has a line waiting to use it and requires an orientation appointment to be allowed access). So all of the displaced members wanting to use cardio machines are left with the walking/running track to use, which becomes so crowded it makes you walk on each others heels.

The membership price to use these facilities is grossly expensive when you cannot even get a full workout in during your visit due to the volume of people and lack of equipment/space.

Positives: Lots of positives -
Negatives: Controlled by Metro staff
* No action or initiatives on basic requests for repair/maintenance
* Refusal to include Contemporary Christian Music on lobby/fitness center Serius channel rotation.
* Does not consider Members as "Members". Metro says Member is just Board of Directors. Others are "facility users" and thus have limited right to information or input.

The best feature is the outdoor salt treated pool. Aqua fitness, water, aerobics, lap, swims, and free swim times seven days a week there is also a smaller shallow kiddie pool. The pool is also open in the winter with a bubble placed over and around it. The staff here is very accommodating. Everything is clean. The indoor gym features many different types of equipment, including a cardio, theater, classes, weights rooms, and more.

I mainly attend the group classes - which for the most part have been great. Only a couple times have I attended a class that I didn't fully enjoy but there seems to be a good community of the group exercise side of things. I have never been to this location when it wasn't crowded. It seems like the bottom floor is just always super busy and crowded , so if you are looking for a more peaceful quiet environment to weightlift/use cardio machines, I would choose somewhere else. For what I want to do at the YMCA, I enjoy this location. The only thing I would be concerned about is the cleanliness of the shared mats/dumbbells/etc. but that can be remedied by bringing your own if that bothers you. I appreciate their financial aid program as well as I am a student unable to afford the full price. I would recommend for someone looking for group exercise like Pilates, Yoga, Cycle, and TRX!

Dirty, dirty, dirty!!! Mold in men's locker room, and who puts carpet in a locker room? how hard is it to vacuum the free weight area. Water leaks into the freeweight area when it rains. Members have no gym etiquette they sit on the machines forever and those machines are sooooooo old not maintained at all. And they have the nerve to charge $72 a month for a single person!!!!

The YMCA has gone to trash, from an over packed facility violating over a dozen fire codes too extremely rude staff who just stand around and do nothing. All they care about is taking your money not making their members happy. They'll threaten to call the cops on you for using the cardio theater for cardio. Save your money, and go anywhere else besides this UNHOLY TRASH DUMP.

I have been a member of the Prisma Health YMCA for 17 years. I love OUR YMCA. I have fluctuated in my workout schedule; from self training to classes and swimming. I love the I have the opportunity to switch up my time of day, workout and the ability to try new classes. I have made many friends over the years and we look for each others smiling face.

I love working out here and I mainly use the pool and sometimes the equipment. The problem is the hours. They’re not open long enough and we pay a lot of money to go here monthly. They close at 9 when they should close at 10 and they’re only opened until 5 on Saturdays. The Sunday’s I understand. Wish they’d extend the hours so more people could actually go.

My family loves the Prisma Health YMCA! The childcare workers have become like family. My two daughters (10 & 4) love going and always have fun. If there is ever a situation with the kids not getting along they handle it great. Our girls get in trouble just like the rest of them, but it’s all to keep everyone safe.
I’ve tried several classes, and love beast mode which is just like CrossFit. The coaches and staff throughout I have thoroughly enjoyed. We are very thankful for this place! You can’t beat the family membership price. I hate that people complain about the small petty things at a non profit like this one! They are doing wonderful things for the community as a whole.

I've spent over 4 years going to this YMCA and though the price has gone up and the amenities have gone down it is still the nicest Y around. Parent night out is no longer free, they no longer offer towels and the traffic has picked up ALOT. As far as a gym to go and lift weights and workout in you can definitely find a better bargain for your coin. As far as a place to take your kids I think it's still a great place. Cancelled my membership last month however due to Covid. Didnt see the point in a nonprofit that is shut down drafting members money. My other gym put the memberships on suspension until they reopened. But that almighty dollar makes the world go around. I would definitely recommend, just need to utilize your membership alot if you hope to get your monies worth.

My family has been going to this Ymca for 4 years. Overall it’s a nice place, β€œmost” of the staff are friendly and helpful. My son, who is in middle school and plays AAU basketball, loves to play basketball. He can never use the court because they choose to have child watch as well as group fitness classes in the gym. On the rare occasion it is open there are grown men hogging the court & unwilling to let children play. They use awful language and even though there is usually a worker β€œmonitoring” nothing is ever said to these β€œmen”. I enjoy getting in the steam room
After a workout and more times than not the steam room is out of order. I’m looking for other gyms that are fair to everyone. I just kind of don’t see the point in paying all this money and not being able to use the Amenities. I will say the child watch staff are awesome. Love those ladies!

The classes and variety of amenities they offer is awesome. The pool, indoor track, kid care, basketball courts, free weights, and machines are great. The cons are the crowded hours most of the time on top of the normal busy times. The people who attend are not extremely friendly and the atmosphere itself is not welcoming to new people who may be insecure to the gym. I wish it was more of a community/family feel.

My car was broken into here while I was working out with my son. The police told me it was a gang related activity that happens monthly. The night my car was broken in, an elderly lady's car was broken in too. She lost everything! The police told me the gang members walk the parking lot and look for women who walk in the ymca without bags. My passenger side window was smashed out and my work computer was taken. The front desk clerk was nonchalant and had zero urgency to help. She told me this happens all the time.

Nice gym: SUPER, SUPER CROWDED (almost to the point of not being worth it). I ended up putting my membership on hold for school and scheduled to have it resume in May. It never did, so I considered my membership canceled and never went back which I was fine with because I needed the extra money. My membership started back up in August and after I saw my $30 draft taken I went up to the gym and officially canceled my membership.

As far as getting my money back, I can't because there's "nothing they can do" but I'm "welcome to come in any time for the last month I paid for". I'm in college so I'll maybe have time to go up there on a Saturday or two: nice...
