Course was in a lot better shape than the reviews said it was. True greens are a little rough but very doable, didn’t see any bare spots. It’s not an easy course, water on almost every hole and fairways are tight.

This is, without a doubt, the worst golf course I have ever played. The conditions are consistently terrible — it’s like they’ve given up on maintenance altogether. Fairways are patchy and full of weeds, bunkers are rock-hard or full of debris, and the greens are the worst I’ve ever seen. Bumpy, slow, dead spots everywhere — calling them "greens" is generous.

It was my first time playing golf, and I had a wonderful experience at this course. The service was excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ especially thanks to Maggie, who was so helpful and welcoming! Unfortunately, it rained during my visit, but I still had a great time. I’ll definitely be going back to play here again! ⛳️

Very rude staff, guy at the pro shop has been a jerk the 2 times I’ve been there and I won’t be coming back. The course is in pretty poor shape and over priced, couple that with a guy that’s a jerk to the customers that come in and it’s a hard pass. Look elsewhere, plenty of golf courses to play. I will say many people in Charleston are rude it’s a very rude population but this guy goes out of his way to let you know he doesn’t want you there patronizing the course so I won’t and I wouldn’t if I was anyone else either.

This course needs to be sold to an owner who will actually take the time to maintain it. Horrible tee boxes, fairways and the greens are the worst I've ever seen. It really could be one of the better courses in the area if it was given a little love instead of abandonment.

Good Afternoon. I am not one to bash, but I gotta be very honest here. If you are a Golfer, who takes golf serious at all, do not come here and waste your money.

I can’t believe the condition of the greens here. This course used to be in exceptional condition.

Let’s be honest … if not for the fairways and if I could, it would get a zero.

Lastly, on one hole there were eight people playing… that is right, 8 people!

Do not waste your money here any more. How on earth can Pine Forest charge $60 for a round and not make any effort whatsoever to maintain their course. The greens are absolutely horrendous. The grass is overgrown. They do not have anyone refilling their water stations, on a sold out Saturday they offer no cart service for drinks. The only reason I give 2 stars is the grille and bar have great food and service. Step up your game Pine Forest. You are officially worse than Summerville Country Club

DO NOT EVER AND I MEAN EVER BOOK WITH THIS GOLF COURSE!!!!! my husband and his friend were harassed by the “marshal” not once or twice but FOUR TIMES screaming at them telling them they were too slow, they needed to pick up the pace, making them show him how they golf. for $65 damn dollars, take your golf buddy / wife / friends out for drinks - don’t waste your money here. and if you even try to say something to the golf shop, they will refuse to let you talk to management, saying they will listen and handle things and they will always start interrupting you basically telling you how you’re in the wrong and they did nothing wrong. they don’t even let you talk, they talk and raise their voice over you. if i could give them about a million negative stars, this place would 100% get them!

The course is in absolutely horrendous shape. I’ve played golf In South Carolina competitively since I was 13. When I played Junior golf tournaments this course was one we dreaded coming zoning rotation because it was challenging and it was regarded as the greatest course in the state. Decided to play it because it had open times while we were back in town. However, now it seems it’s avoided because it’s a giant dirt box. $70/PP to play on these greens and it’s EVERY GREEN

I live fairly close to the course but will not be going back. Worst greens of anywhere I've ever played. Greens are mainly mud and soaking wet yet we haven't had much rain in a couple weeks. Tee boxes are hard as a rock and mostly dirt. Fairways are hit and miss with rough being mostly hard dirt. Not sure what the green fees are going towards but won't be getting any more of my money to waste.

Condition of course - poor to below average. Tee boxes are terrible and there were 50 broken tees on each tee box so lack of maintenance. Fairways were ok but greens were terrible as they must have lost most of them from frost or disease. Pace of play is terrible on a weekend - you can’t have 8 minute tee times. We were moving ok until 6 or 7. But on the par 5 ninth there were four groups. Thn Grabbed a quick hot dog and headed to 10 and there were 5 groups on 10. This is unacceptable so we left. On the positive side, the lady at the front deck at check in was very friendly and gave us course tips and the girls behind the bar were also nice. Good facility - needs new management and maintenance. And starter was very knowledgeable

First and probably only time playing here as just passing through the area. A beautiful course that would be magnificent if the greens were in better shape. Tee boxes also were a bit rough. If I could give less I would. However, this place will let you play with 10 people. The old guy will just come yell at you but he won’t do anything. Also, no bikes allowed but fishing is cool. Even more then that it’s actually a fishing course not a golf course.

The course has a great and unique design and has a lot of potential but the fairways being dirt and the greens being hairy and bumpy was not what I was led to believe by the reviews and pictures online. I don’t recommend coming to play here as it will be a waste of your 50$ and precious time.

Played here two times in the past 3 months. Very challenging course. Greens, fairways, bunkers, and tee boxes were in excellent shape both times. Greens aren't the most receptive but roll true and are usually defended well. Raised greens can cause an almost perfect shot to be 20 yards off the flat surface. Tight fairways with water and traps to keep reminding you why you suck at golf.

I think it's a great course if you want challenging. I really enjoyed trying to figure out the greens. Staff was courteous and professional. Nice driving range. Putting/chipping green can be quite crowded at time but in good shape. Facilities were clean.

Tee boxes are concrete! Great shape but you need a drill to get a tee in the ground. Yes, I'm nit-picking here.

I really enjoyed this course even though it humbled me. My 3 playing partners were grumbling about it being unfair and the hardest course they played, but I think if you really want to test your game, this course will do that. I loved the layout, and the course is beautiful.

I can't wait to play here again.

One of mine and my wife's favorites.

This course has a great lay out on both the front and back 9s.

The course is kept up very well although there are some issues with bunkers and some greens that might give the wrong ideas for those playing the course for the first time.

Like so many other courses within the Low Country bunkers seem to be hard dirt from time to time vice sand.

My wife loves the carts. The carts seem to just have been updated and have a smooth ride with great seats.

Pace of play can bottle neck from time to time but that happens on busy days. But a day on the course beats a day in the office any day.

Haven't tried the driving range yet but will review once I get to it.

Great course for those who have a passion for golf that don't want to spend an arm and a leg to play.

This is a perfect example of golf ownership that isn't fully invested in the potential of this golf course. The architecture and challenge is as good as you will find in the Tri-County area of the low country. Unfortunately, the conditions are mediocre at best and sometimes their bordering pathetic. This course under the right ownership and greens keeper has the potential to be one of the best in the low country. The pro shop has practically no merchandise whatsoever, you can't expect to make money if you don't spend money again the biggest issue here is ownership or the lack thereof!
Update: I went from three to four stars because whomever is doing the groundskeeping in the last 6 months has definitely improved. the greens and tea boxes are in much better shape. the bunkers are pretty nice. comparatively if they could just get the fairways in better shape and actually put any kind of merchandise in the pro shop would be nice. otherwise things are looking much better at pine Forest right now

This course is tough. Without some course knowledge bring an extra dozen balls. You think you hit a perfect drive only to get over that hill to find danger close and your ball is no where to be found. There is no GPS in the carts and the tee signs are not very descriptive. The fairways are narrow and the par 3’s are long. It’s always been in great shape each time I’ve played there. It’s a real struggle for golfers who are new to the game. The staff is friendly and it’s usually not too busy. This course will humble you. Good luck lol

Played on 7/28/23. This was the first time we have played this course and was really excited to play it since it was compared to Augusta. It is in really poor condition. The tee boxes haven’t been cut in weeks it seems. The greens are gone. Some greens are 1/2 dirt. Pins haven’t been changed in quite some time. Fairway’s definitely need mowing. This place has the potential to be as pretty as any I have played and I HAVE played the Augusta National. The layout is fantastic! My cousin and I played this course pretty often when I'm in town. For me this is a better deal then playing Wescott for $15 more. I go on GolfNow and look for deals and the rest of the deals around are like 50 60 miles away or more. Disc golf course has a great layout some of the greens are a little bushy but they are very good for holding the ball. Played the course today, November 7, 2020. It’s in sad shape. First of all we had to wait for golfers to finish so that we could have carts. Tee times were pushed backed when we arrived before noon by at least 20 minutes. They scheduled tee times every 4 minutes. Really? What foursome can tee off in 4 minutes. The driving range was closed due to “wet conditions”. I don’t think they had personnel to pick up balls, but who knows? Also the practice putting green was closed due to being over seeded. The group in front of us used the first tee as a driving range. They each hit 3 drives each. We waited on every shot. Also many areas were not just wet, they were soaked. I love the layout, but it’s in bad shape. I will never play there again.

Pine Forest comprises two very good out-and-back nine-hole loops, and as the name implies, tall, mature pine trees line the way on most holes. The pleasantly undulating fairways tend to get distinctly mogully as you approach the often elevated greens. The greens themselves are typically fast and undulating, several having at least two or sometimes three tiers - prepare to have your putting skills thoroughly tested.
Pine Forest is a wonderfully enjoyable course, and one that will thoroughly test your game, especially your short game, and most especially your putting.

The Pine Forest HOA passes the buck to CMG and vice versa. In a letter to the HOA dated 12.20.2017 I outlined in part the following:

1. Inequitable ARC request approvals regarding fencing. The difference between the scalloped fence with gaps vs. a privacy fence.

2. Basketball goals are an important aspect of a child’s life. I don’t necessarily have an issue with staging the basketball goal out of site when not in use, but to interpret literally as it is outlined in the covenants and restrictions is incredulous. For example: My two boys have a basketball goal as do many others in the neighborhood. One day they were playing in the drive way and took a break to eat lunch and returned to play within 30 minutes. Consequently, I received a “courtesy notice” for a basketball goal on display, which I believe is ridiculous because at that very second during lunch a CMG employee decided to drive by my house. If the BOD knew anything about a basketball goal and how it sits stationary with the assistance of water or sand in the base they would know it’s not real easy to move out of site for a 30 minute lunch nor is it reasonable to think one would do so.

The HOA, CMG, and the Board of Directors and its officers seem to this home owner any way to be insular in nature, narcissistic, and egotistical who hide behind a call center member who is attempting to regurgitate the line of BS from their boss.

Pine Forest Country Club sub-division is an over priced ghetto with no leadership or vision.

First timer and thought the course offered a fair challenge. Nice sized elevated greens are easy to approach but some do require pin point accuracy if you're going to get down in 2. The day I played there had been a recent water pump transformer failure and they were using auxiliary power to water the fairways and greens so I have to give them a pass on some grooming but all in all the course was in pretty decent shape. I would recommend purchasing the yardage book in the pro shop before hand. Regretfully I didn't and it cost me a few strokes. Very reasonable green fees. I have paid more for a lot worse. I'll definitely be back. Very friendly staff.

Played there several times before cancer got me. Enjoyed it very much and, since I was a visitor, I depended on the staff for advice. My only complaint and the same for every course I've played over the past 40+ years, the players act like they will never play there again. Absolutely will not take care of the course. Don't replace divots in the fairways and wouldn't even think of using a divot tool (what's that). By and large very enjoyable.

Nice fairways but the greens are getting in bad shape.

A great course that I would easily recommend. The course has a good balance of challenge from the water and few bunkers, but I wouldn't rate it as being too difficult or unfair. Many holes are lined by homes on one side with water on the other. I found the course to be in great shape in the winter with very playable greens and decent fairways. The cart paths are broken up by tree roots. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was actually amazed at how nice and friendly they were. I would easily recommend this course for a casual to serious golfer.

The course was in pretty good shape and the water for sure made this course extremely challenging.

Beautiful course but the entire length of the course is lined with barking dogs. At one point I counted five different dogs barking loudly at us. It was very disappointing considering how beautiful it was but hard to enjoy golfing and the serene atmosphere.

The greens a terrible, fairways are very nice, it is a great course but greens are not able to be putted. It is a shame to have such a beautiful course but loose control of greens.

It was really cheap on golfnow, and close in proximity. I played it, may not play again. It was OKAY, friendly, nice greens, very tight, houses everywhere. It was a shot-making course. If you're over 60 and play a driver 190 yds, this is the course for you! If you have no idea where the ball is going, try summerville country club first.

Pine Forest Country Club is a very nice neighborhood to be a part of. There are many different age groups and an inviting atmosphere for children. The Club
immunities are somewhat structured to three categories. These are the tennis, golf, and swimming activities, in that all are well represented with teaching and leadership. In all the total living experience is nice, quiet, and very well maintained. In closing, the accessibility to Summerville activities, shopping, and the interstates is great. I have lived here for 12 years and an very content overall.
