The Drop In is a true gem in Charleston. You come for a great workout, and stay for the community. They celebrate EVERYONE in this space. Every single member I have met has exuded love and positivity. They celebrate the big moments, but also the every day. The owners have made a point to integrate into the community in such a positive and inclusive manner. It is truly inspiring. The Drop In welcomed me with open arms in Feb 2025 with ZERO spin experience. I was hooked immediately by their accepting and non "cliquey" nature. They've helped me grow not only athletically, but personally as well. This is the place for newbies!!!! They made a vulnerable new experience feel easy and fun, and for that I am so grateful! I immediately quit my other gym and am now more than 100 classes in. If you are new to cycling or mat workouts, or an experienced athlete just looking for a place to fit in, this is it.

I love being active and moving my body but gyms and fitness studios had always felt like a chore until I found The Drop In. I tried spin for the very first time here and they made trying a new thing feel very accessible and fun. The instructors and owners are amazing, can't say enough about them. They are building a really cool community with such intention, and this place now feels like a second home where I see all my favorite people. The Drop In is more than just movement, and it never feels like a chore to show up. 10000/10, would recommend.

The Drop-In offers a great workout with amazing playlists but- more importantly- they offer a true sense of belonging. You feel at home the moment you arrive. This is a place where you don’t have to “dance like nobody’s watching”. Here you can dance like everyone is watching and know the entire room is sharing in your joy. It’s hands-down my favorite workout in Charleston, and genuinely one of my favorite experiences anywhere. I could not be more delighted to welcome them to the neighborhood in their new King Street home. They will be an amazing addition to our community.

The surge of nearly identical reviews here are an obvious attempt to bury earlier genuine criticism. That's not caring for community; it's reputation management.

The Drop-In itself reflects the same approach: self-involved, and with poor consideration for the neighborhood it affects. Instead of collaboration, the pattern has been one of sanctimonious self-interest dressed up as community care.

It is a pattern of hypocrisy - Accepting “support” by submitting, from non-residents as far away as Bee’s Ferry, an identical form letter riddled with identical typos to obtain a neighborhood zoning variance. This variance requires the neighborhood to supply parking for 40 members (i.e. 40 cars), multiple times per day as classes change. An actual local - which the two owners are not - would know this is a strain on this small community with very limited parking for residents that include many elderly and their caretakers.

Again the Drop-In favors convenience for the business over consideration for residents, despite the lip service.

This isn’t what caring for community looks like. It’s their self-interest dressed up as virtue.

Gillian and Chandler are amazing humans who know how to light up a heart and soul. The DropIn is a much needed place to sweat and beyond that to build- community, conversation, or whatever it is you need. Grateful for these two bringing this space to Charleston!

The feeling you will experience at The Drop In is like no other. The energy, the attention to detail, the JOY, the length that the founders and instructors go to to make you feel seen is truly incredible. The events they have are amazing - fun, community driven, inclusive, and magnetic. The classes will leave you feeling completely like you're recharged and ready to conquer ANYTHING. I feel so good after being surrounded by these people, and Chandler and Gillian together are a FORCE that continue make waves in the Charleston community for positive change. If you haven't already taken a class, or even popped into their studio - go check it out. Very excited for what's to come!! 5 STARS TO THE MOON & BACK!

The Drop In is a place full of pure joy and community. I would never hesitate to recommend ANYONE to go here. No matter the skill level, everyone is welcomed with open arms into a wonderful community of people. The founders, Gillian and Chandler are two of the nicest, most encouraging, and genuine people you will ever meet. Drop in if you’re visiting or if you live in Charleston, you won’t regret it.

You would be hard pressed to find another cycle studio in Charleston where you can walk in with absolutely no experience- and leave with a smile on your face. It is clear the heart of this business is community building and positive movement experiences. You won’t find any “workout” “exercise” “physical fitness” language that is even remotely negative or punishment- driven at the drop-in. Music & people- is at the heart of this studio. Gathering in this space to move my body and care for myself is a priceless opportunity each week.

The Drop In is a very welcoming environment that truly cares about its members and the community! I have been to a few of the larger events and each time I have felt right at home, even when I have had to show up alone! Thankful to have a place like this in Charleston, and cannot wait for the permanent location to open soon so I can spin and dance into oblivion!!! <3

Had an awesome experience at The Drop In. I'm typically not a fan of group style exercise, but the atmosphere and music were great and everybody there was super kind and positive. The cycling instructor was amazing, motivating everyone and making us feel included. I had a great time and would totally recommend it to anybody in Charleston looking for an active and positive social group to be a part of.

I was only in Charleston for the weekend, found The Drop In, and wow an incredible workout! The energy in the room was absolutely electric from start to finish. The instructor Gillian had such an upbeat, encouraging presence that made you want to push harder, even when your legs were burning.

The music was perfectly synced with the ride intervals, and I loved how the class flew by despite being challenging. There's something really motivating about riding alongside others. Even as a beginner, I never felt out of place.

If you're looking for a workout in Charleston, I couldn't recommend The Drop In enough!

I travelled from Vermont to go to this studio. They make moving your body feel like an intentional joyful journey. I wish I lived closer, I would go regularly for both consistent exercise and to be surrounded by humans of like minds. I highly recommend going for trying them out, I bet you'll feel the magic.

This place is awful!!!! They are leasing “temporarily” (their timeline keeps getting extended) in the building two floors below my apartment unit. At least 4 units in my building are awoken every single day of the week at 6am or 7am to the bass of the gym’s music (yes, even weekends). We are shaken awake because the vibration is so intense and impossible to drown out with earplugs or white noise. It’s so bad that I can hear every word of the songs and even hear what the instructors are saying. Despite MONTHS of residents, including myself, politely asking them to turn the music or the bass down, and the leasing office trying to plead with them, they refuse to make any changes or simply turn down the volume. I’ve driven past and observed TWO or THREE people in the classes at a time. For three people in a cycling class there is absolutely no need for the music to be as loud as it is. The owners are selfish individuals with no regard for others; do not give them your money. I urge you to support another locally owned fitness studio instead.

The Drop In is my home away from home. This place has everything - community, inspiration, encouragement, and acceptance. I absolutely love the instructors and the vibe they cultivate. I’m 52 and had never tried a spin class in my life because I had only ever seen dark, aggressive studios with instructors who seemed to yell to motivate. I love their early Saturday and Sunday morning classes (Soulful Sunday) where I can set myself up for a great weekend. Their mat class is very unique - me with deep grounding and heart opening movement. This place is just different and exactly what I need at this point in my life. I have followed them from Park Circle to downtown Charleston and can’t wait for their final home on King Street!

They basically make living above them unlivable (would advocate for any tenant thinking about 601 meeting at to reconsider unless the unit you are looking at is no where near this place).

I'm sure they will give some daft response about being within some arbitrary city guidelines and that they have done their part. I have no problem with music itself being played but the bass shouldn't be shaking the damn apartment. There is no logical reason for that. The fact they need a meeting to understand that, screams willfully obtuse ownership.

Searched high and low for a cycling studio that felt like home when I moved to Charleston and The Drop In takes the cake. The classes are incredible (mat classes, too!), but the community is the most amazing part. Genuine, authentic, and fun people who care for their city and want to make it better through community. There’s nothing else like it, and I’m proud to be a part of it!
