I went in there about two years ago to sign up for exercise class, and the carpet in there are so old and so filthy, and it smelled it reek and I employed they didn’t smell it. I let it be known that they don’t take the time to clean it freshen up or nothing so I went back within two days ,And canceled my membership, I could not see myself going to the gym that soon as you walk into it smell like old old carpet, Smelly sneakers they don’t take very good care of the place. They don’t clean it very well. The smell reeks..

He shows little concern for his facility, refusing to update any gym equipment. He only seems to care about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, neglecting both his employees and gym members. He presents himself as a Christian, but his actions don't align, and there's a cult-like vibe to his behavior.

My son started Ju jitsu there a few months ago. I don’t think there could be better trainers. They are patient(takes a lot because a few of those kids we “omg” unparented), willing to help even when class isn’t in process, encouraging, just nice freaking people man, and explain things at a rate your child can comprehend. I just don’t have anything bad to say. For the record, I have no affiliation to them or the facility. It’s just an honest review

I cannot say enough about where Maddy Roth has taken the gymnastics program, especially with the equipment & budget she has to work with. I came from a world class gym in IL that had everything needed for training. She boosted my daughters’s confidence so much while she competed under her so much that my daughter loves going back for tumbling classes weekly just to see her old teammates and coaches that we consider family. We love cheering them on at meets and seeing their success. It’s a tough sport and very humbling. The importance of having a coach that knows what it takes and pushing kids where they need to be is what the sport is all about. It’s not for everyone. As a former gymnast and coach, I felt comfortable putting my trust in her. The success of the program will show in years to come.

Foundry Gymnastics Review – AVOID This Gym at All Costs!
I cannot stress this enough—do not send your child to Foundry Gymnastics. My experience with them was a complete disaster, and I want to save other parents from making the same mistake. Here’s why you should stay as far away from this gym as possible:
1. Unqualified Coaches
Before you even think about enrolling your child, take the time to watch the classes. The coaches at Foundry Gymnastics are incredibly inexperienced, often chosen from the parents sitting in the gym, rather than based on actual qualifications. When my daughter was on the pre-team, the coaching was inconsistent, unstructured, and clearly lacked knowledge. Instead of qualified professionals leading the kids, we saw teenage girls who were barely qualified to run a class.
2. Dangerous Gym Conditions
The conditions at Foundry are downright appalling. The equipment is unsafe—the spring floors have rusty nails literally poking through them, and the mats are filthy. It’s shocking that the gym hasn’t taken any real steps to address these issues, especially considering the potential risks to the children’s safety.
3. Misleading Promises of Coaching
My daughter was on the pre-team for a year and was eventually promoted to the competition team. We were led to believe that she would get more one-on-one coaching from the head coach—but that couldn’t have been further from the truth. The head coach was hardly ever there, and when she was, she barely offered any constructive coaching. Everything the girls learned in pre-team had to be re-taught, as the skills were not properly taught in the first place.
4. Toxic Coaching Environment
The real nightmare came with the competition team. The head coach’s behavior is appalling. Instead of nurturing the kids and providing constructive feedback, she resorts to yelling and belittling the gymnasts. The kids often ended up cryingand feeling worthless because of her harsh and abusive approach. She would scream at them, telling them they weren’t good enough to compete and threaten to pull them from the team without offering any real coaching or guidance. It was emotionally damaging to the kids.
5. Poor Management & Lack of Accountability
When I raised my concerns to the gym manager and the head coach, I was essentially told that the head coach didn’t want to work with the level 3 girls because of parental issues—basically, she didn’t want to be challenged by concerned parents. Instead of addressing the coaching problems, I was told to keep the parents off her back. The owner was also unprofessional about financial matters—I paid all the competition fees on time, and the gym owner held my check for over a month. When I requested a refund for the fees I’d paid, the owner only offered me credit towards another class at the gym, which was completely unacceptable given the situation.
6. High Turnover & Toxic Culture
The competition team is tiny—and there’s a reason for that. Most of the kids either leave or quit due to the lack of proper coaching and the toxic environment. The gym claims to have a “No Bully Zone,” but that’s a complete joke. The real bullying is coming from the head coach, who fosters a hostile, unhealthy environment where the kids feel worthless and unappreciated.
Conclusion: Save Your Money & Time
If you care about your child’s well-being, DO NOT send them to Foundry Gymnastics. The dangerous gym conditions, incompetent coaching staff, and toxic environment are not worth the money or emotional toll. I’ve removed my daughter from this gym, and I regret ever enrolling her there. Please, do yourself and your child a favor—look for a gym that actually cares about its athletes and creates a positive, safe, and supportive environment. Foundry Gymnastics is anything but that.

This is a great gym for anyone that’s in to lifting and bodybuilding. They have a big selection of the best equipment and a well spaced layout. It’s not the prettiest but in my opinion makes a great environment for serious lifting. Thankful I found a place like this!

I’m not sure how this place has such a high rating. I only went a couple times with my husband, and maybe it’s good if you take actual classes (although it’s even more expensive). We just wanted to use the equipment which looked old and not taken care of. Apparently they will watch your kid(s), but I don’t know if I’d leave my kid there…. Management and workers seemed nice from the couple times we were there. If you know how to workout and just want to quickly get in and out it’s not bad if you don’t use the bathrooms 🤢 and cleanliness is questionable.

I have been training Jiu Jitsu here for maybe 6 months or so and the instruction is very high level. We learn a lot every class. Also there is a nice balance between instruction and rolling. We do 1 hour class and 30 minutes rolling each day. There is more mat space in this gym than any gym I’ve ever been too- so plenty of room to train after class and any day any time during the week. Also the weightlifting equipment and area is huge with everything you need and more- even turf with sleds, tires and hammers, calisthenics, powerlifting. The whole works. It the most robust fitness center in the area- and the Jiu Jitsu is very high level too so I am very grateful to have The Foundry here.

I really want to give this place more than two stars, I really do. Unfortunately, there are a number of issues I have with the gym that just make it hard for me to do so.

There are a lot of good things about the gym: it's conveniently located if you're in Beaufort or the surrounding area, it has a very active member base across a number of sports seemingly which range from BJJ/MMA, gymnastics, boxing, and more. For parents, this is a good place to workout while your kid has child care and/or a place for your kid to be active. The weightlifting equipment (what I was there for) isn't bad necessarily, and the gym schedule from 0500-2100 is pretty decent for a commercial gym schedule. Also, most importantly, the rates of the gym for guest passes are 5 dollars your first time and then 10 after, which is a lot cheaper than some other places I've been.

All this being said, I had major issues both nights with both the equipment/environment of the gym and the type of members. The biggest glaring issue is the weight lighting area whether machines or free weights is absolutely chaotic; there are weights scattered EVERYWHERE and nobody reracks anything. Plates are all over the floor, and dumbbells are scattered about not even placed on racks nor even paired together half the time. Additionally, there are several dumbbell weights that only have one pair while other weight options (mostly those below 20lbs) have multiple sets which are equally scattered across the weight room.

This problem was further an issue with members both nights simply hogging equipment for over 30+ minutes without any kind of care in the world for other people trying to use the singular set of weights/machine/etc that they were using.

Overall, gym is decent if you're in the area visiting and don't want to drive a bunch elsewhere or can't get on base to MCAS. I do personally believe the whole "have every athletic activity present and basic means to conduct it" without really investing super hard into one sport or the other is a little annoying. Also where I come from, major gyms have the ability to be 24 hours which I feel like this gym could do, but I digress. My primary issues lie within cleanliness and general order of the gym, and getting better lifting equipment/weights. Oh by the way, please make sure your child isn't clogging toilets in the bathroom-- I had to actively stop a ~5 year old kid from doing that.

I joined because they said they had child care. The first night i went it was great, Liz watched my baby and she was super sweet and friendly and asked for my name and for my babys. i came the next day in the morning to work out and madison was in the child care room. she was on her phone when i walked in and didn’t even notice me until i said something. she was still on her phone whenever i was putting my babies stuff down and didn’t say anything to me. I went to do my work out(40min) and halfway thro just went to check and see how my kid(4month)was doing and i saw madison on her phone. 20 min later whenever i was done i went to get her and again she didn’t even notice me till i asked if i could get my baby(i had to say it twice). there were also about four other kids in there probably from age of 3-7. she had left my baby in her carseat the whole time and just faced her towards the tv. I was a little upset about it at first but didn’t say anything until that night after thinking about it. i called and talked to the manager and told her what happened. she was patronizing and condescending, and told me that they weren’t a preschool and that they are not there to teach or discipline kids. She then told me to come at another time to see if i would get along with the other girls more(mornings work best with my schedule). i told her i didn't have the expectation of them to be teaching or disciplining kids just for attentiveness, which it states on their website. During the conversation i thought the phone was breaking up so i said excuse me and she said, ”sorry, im multitasking”and then in a very sarcastic tone said, “i promise i’m paying attention.” It was after the conversation with the manager i decided to cancel my membership after only having it for two days. I payed 84$ for the membership which included the enrollment fee, and the $9.99 for childcare. I am not able to get any of the money back and i could still attend till the end of the month but i don’t feel safe having my child there after my conversation with the manager. The childcare room is very dark due to broken lights and does not look like it is cleaned often same with the bathrooms.

I really like this gym. There’s plenty of equipment to use and I’m never waiting to use anything. My only gripe is that this place is supposed to open at 5 am and it’s very inconsistent. This is a great gym! Good programs, friendly staff, a good workout environment, and the patrons mind their business/are friendly. I recently joined this gym and it has really motivated me to be active.

It would be 5 stars, but the non-gym facilities such as the bathrooms & shower are terrible. Obviously hasn’t been cleaned in a month if not longer (see photos). I couldn't find a recommendation box anywhere to bring up the issue.

This is a gym perfect for routine workouts and reaching your goals. I know the hygiene facilities isn't why people go to the gym, but if you go to the gym RIGHT before work like me… Just be aware of the icky bathrooms (and whatever else hasn’t been cleaned in awhile) and plan accordingly.

There is no other gym like this one, The Foundry emphasizes on you! From your everyday cardio, to weight lifting, The Foundry is making big moves with their classes, such as MMA, boxing, kicking boxing, and many more. I've been attending just about 6 weeks now, and I love every moment I'm in there. Great staff, an owner you'll never know who owns it. Members who are willing to help, trainers who are ready to push you and knowledge for those who are ready to learn. So join, like I did, like the people before us and those after us.

I have been training at this gym (Previously known as Beaufort MMA) for a few years and I absolutely love it! Abe is such a great and patient instructor when it comes to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA. All of the instructors are quality and really care about the development of their students on the Mixed Martial Arts end. The staff at the gym is great and very friendly. They are continually updating the gym to improve the quality and standards that us clients deserve and have really transformed a once defunct gym owned by someone else. I highly recommend to visit this gym if you are coming in from out of town; they are very welcoming. The gym has a positive vibe and I see a lot of great things happening for this gym! I've been training in martial arts since I was 14 and no school really made me feel like my first school did. Most were okay, and some were illegitimate, but The Foundry (formerly Beaufort MMA) is a breath of fresh air. I think the best part is that the instructors across the arts offered are all cohesive, friendly, and ultimately perpetuate Bruce Lee's vision of not holding a single art above another. My confidence in the growth of this school skyrocketed when I found out they expanded. I believe their staff have the tools to spread the martial arts just like Bruce Lee wanted.
