Great Atmosphere (especially for powerlifting and bodybuilding), Day passes are a good price, and there alot of good equipment, downsides: only 1 power rack, not alot of different bar types, but other than that this is probably one of the better gyms here in north Myrtle Beach

If I lived in North Myrtle Beach this would be my gym. However, I just travel here a couple times a year for vacation and this is where I worked out today. The staff is extremely friendly. The place is absolutely perfect for what I need to do and the regulars are not hostile to outsiders. A great mix of older and younger folks and people are there to work out. I appreciated everything and I'll definitely be coming back every time I'm on vacation.

Want a place to go and workout, no BS, RESPECTFUL people who understand gym etiquette? There is no place like The Gym. If you care more about atmosphere, and ability to get some work in over whether or not thereβs a cute color schemeβ¦ The Gum will be your safe haven.

Clean, no dust bunnies. Ryan & Devin are great trainers. I'm a 65-yo woman and feel comfortable going there (the "eye candy" is a plus). Devin helped me with my back, bad knee and core. Open 24/7. Very reasonable price.

I joined the gym a little over a year ago when I first moved here. It is close to my home. I trained for a few weeks with Ryan and was given a wealth of information. I know when I go I will always have room to work out, the place is clean, and everyone is very courteous

Awesome gym and atmosphere. Very welcome to out of towners. $10 drop in fee but plenty of free weights and machines for anyone who likes to lift. Good selection of cardio also. Will be back next time we return to the beach.

My younger sister and I were looking for an affordable gym for a few days while on vacation and were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere at this gym! Very similar to the spot I lift at home, well-rounded in terms of machines/equipment and friendly staff. We wish we could stay longer and get a few more workouts in but both agree it was well worth it for the quality of workouts we got while here.

I was here on vacation and wanted to get a couple workouts in for the week. Found the gym and was not disappointed. From the time I walked in to the end of the week, everyone was friendly and very helpful. They had everything I was looking for and much more. It was $10 a day or $40 for a week pass. I will definitely use the gym next time I am in the area.

Iβm visiting from out of state. And this is as good as it gets. Not a commercial chain gym. Itβs for people who wanna work hard, push hard, and see results. The Owner and staff are extremely friendly, support emergency personnel and veterans. Itβs small but thatβs because it belongs to the community. Thatβs what makes this place good, and not flooded with hundreds of people who abuse the equipment and the environment. 5 stars. If youβre looking for a place to really lift here, this is it!!! Hands down.

I visited this gym a couple times last week while I was on vacation, and I must say, I highly recommend it to everyone, especially fellow vacationers. It's a great way to maintain your weightlifting routine even when you're supposed to be taking it easy and unwinding. Personally, I find going to the gym incredibly rejuvenating and relaxing.

It's disappointing when the gym is full of muscular guys but acts rude and seems to think he's better than everyone else. I was the only Vietnamese there. Stop banging on the door when someone else is in the restroom. Gym owners should manage their members more carefully.

5 stars is for the atmosphere. Old gym, old equipment... but everything you need to get the job done. Very friendly staff willing to spot and correct form even for people from out of town. As a female athlete I felt welcome, safe, and comfortable. The other gym goers were friendly but focused. A no nonsense gym where you can do your own thing without being disturbed. Perfect.
Additional things to know if you're from out of town: Fair pass price (when I visited: 8 dollar day pass, 30 dollar week.) Lockers available but no locker room. No showers. Clean bathroom. Air conditioned.

If you're staying in North Myrtle Beach you really shouldnt consider any other gym. Their weekly rate for out-of-towners is $30 which is cheaper than anywhere else in the area. Some of the equipment could probably use some updating or some little fixes here and there but I still have no real complaints at all about the place. It has the feel of a real gym , not like planet fitness or the y. Definitely go here.

Staying in North Mrtyle and was looking for a place that offers out of town guests a daily or weekly pass. I didn't want a Planet Fitness, Group Class or Rehabilitation Facility feel. I just wanted a normal gym. I was set on Iron Legacy but after realizing it would be a 25 min drive each way I had to find another option. I settled on The Gym and it was a blessing in disguise. Don't let the front chiropractic office fool you. This place is the speakeasy of gyms. Once you sign in and walk back you are treated to an old school, no nonsense, get after it gym. Was here for the week and paid their weekly rate of $30 and couldn't be happier. I'm gonna miss this place.

I am checking the gyms in the area, and their web stated very clearly that there is free trial day pass with local ID, but when I went to the gym, I was told that there is no such thing. I showed them what it said on their web site but I was told that they are not doing it. It was not worth it, I paid the $8 day pass, but I don't like to deal with this type of business.

A good gym to go to if your workout schedule starts before or after your day. There's a decent amount of equipment to achieve a wide range of exercises. There's only one squat rack, and a Smith rack so if it's leg day or you like to superset, I'd suggest going whenever it's not as busy. The Gym has a great management. Issues are usually addressed and fixed in a short period of time.

I'm big on the free weights and dumbbells. They are well stocked in this regard. Two benches, one incline, and a decline. One squat rack and a deadlift platform. The cost for visitors is very reasonable. Only hard thing is that you have to come in during business hours to sign up. This place is well worth coming to. For the non-free weight types there are machines, treadmills, Smith machine, etc.

This is a cheap, small, old school gym. I came here while vacationing in NMB. The daily/one-time rate is $7. I was mostly interested in the squat rack and the bench press bench. There's just one rack and two benches, but it doesn't seem like there are many people in the gym, so the equipment was mostly available whenever. There's also a smith machine if you're into that, dumbbells, all the usual stuff. It's all really old, none of the barbell plates are rubberized. I saw treadmills, an exercise bike, some other equipment. There are a couple of water fountains and paper towel dispensers. Basically, anything you'd need in a gym, just less of it and everything's old. For the price it wasn't bad.

Went here for years when I came for vacation, always kind of dumpy but I didn't mind because it was kind of like a cool pumping iron setting, and $15 for the week was very fair. Came back and they had jacked up the price to $25 for the week, or $7 for the day, and it's no longer worth the price

My wife and I went to Myrtle Beach on vacation and looked online for a gym that was nearby our rental. The Gym was close so we drove by before we decided on which place to join for the week. From the outside The Gum doesn't give you a great impression but if you're looking for a place that's no B.S. The Gym is the place I would recommend. It has everything you need to get the job done. . The staff is very polite and helpful. The people that workout there are nice but want to work their bodies and not their mouths which I appreciate. The music they play is so good that I stopped using my headphones. I wish my gym played the same stuff. I gave The Gym 4 stars but only because some of the equipment is built for taller people and limited us a bit. I would give it 4.5 stars if Google would let me. Bottom line is The Gym is small but mighty and I would recommend it to anyone that's going to be in NMB for a short time. Especially at the guest rate of $20 pp for the week. Not sure what the monthly membership is.
