My grand daughters borh attend Thomas Gymnastics and just love it. The staff and coaches are very friendly and do an excellent job. This is an excellent opportunity for your girl or boy to burn off all the energy stored, sitting in school. They are encouraged to cheer for their teammates. First competition was lots of fun and a great experience.

First day for my granddaughter and she came home in tears. She’s a newbie and no one helped her at all. She had no idea what to do. Yes we have videos of no one helping. I really don’t understand how you can offer so called beginner classes and not help. More attention was paid to the kids who knew what they were doing. No I don’t recommend this place.
UPDATES: Ran into a grandma whose granddaughter attends this gym. She said they do pay extra attention to the kids that are good so they can recruit them to join a team. Her granddaughter gets a lot of extra attention and others are left out.

Our experience with Thomas Gymnastics in Myrtle Beach, specifically the Carolina Forest facility, was absolutely horrible and heartbreaking. My son attended their summer camp this past summer, and it was one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had. The staff appeared to be mostly very young teenagers who were rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional.

My son was bullied by other students and even fat-shamed, and not a single staff member stepped in to address it. The older children were kept upstairs in this small area and they barely had any type of structured activity taking place so they were just bored and unruly. I paid for a water park pass because they go every weds, BUT every time my son would tell me how they just played in the wave pool the whole time because the “staff” did not want to wait in the long lines for them to ride the slides. Eventually, I also found out that my son was opting out of going to the waterpark because he was getting made fun of when he had his shirt off and no one even bothered to let me know he wws staying back, I was under the impression that he was going every Wednesday. There was no communication from the staff whatsoever and even when they were supposed to be putting in the app that he was transferred to different field trips, etc. that was not taking place half the time and I had to call the facility to check and see where he was or if he Had opted out of field trips again without even discussing it with me. Each day I dropped him off in tears and picked him up in tears — no parent should have to experience that. It was clear that supervision, compassion, and proper training were lacking at every level. It was Also clear that the little girls who picked on him every day were part of a little clique, whose parents worked at the gym And that was why they were not being disciplined for their blatant bullying And then, when my son would takeoff for himself, he would get in trouble. It Was an absolute joke and needless to say we did not finish the summer out.

I will never send my child back here and wouldn’t recommend this program to anyone who values their child’s emotional well-being. Children deserve kindness, structure, and respect — not what we experienced here!!

Thomas Academy Homeschool program is top notch. My son is about to start his second year in this program and he has grown and learned so much! He asks everyday, "Is it a Thomas day?" Over the summer I heard, "When do we go back to Thomas?" You will not find another Co-op that offers daily use of a full gymnastics gym. This includes foam pits and trampolines, a rock wall and more! Small class sizes and passionate teachers that guide and support you through your homeschool journey! Great for student, athletes, families that want to travel, and those new to homeschooling who need support! This is a drop off program with many options from 5 days, 4 days, 3 days or 2 days a week, offering core subjects and electives! The director of this program Mrs. Kim has been a blessing to our family when it comes to all things homeschool, and the children love her! Don't hesitate to enroll your homeschool student in this all inclusive Co-op program!

Make sure you ask questions about their policies. Ask to see proof of current background checks for staff. This is not a licensed or accredited preschool, they don’t have to follow any sort of SC guidelines. Or answer to anyone actually, which means if you don’t ask- they won’t tell. Teachers are not credentialed or have any sort of early education qualifications whatsoever. My child attended for an entire year before things came to light. There are so many amazing preschools for your little out here that cost the same or less, that follow SC guidelines and held accountable by the state. Hopefully my mistake will save another parent the hassle and guilt. Many families pulled children from this up coming year due to lack of transparency.

“Money over safety” should never be a thing in an establishment that is trusted to care for children of all ages. In my opinion.*

Our son enjoys summer camp at Thomas . We are so grateful to Miss Amanda , Miss Allison and all of the wonderful young men and women working there. You guys all are doing a fantastic job , having so many kids there and taking them on field trips , knowing everyone who attends and their family members and running this like well-oiled machine ! I like the convenience of online portal, lunch options , friendly environment and the care for my child .

My child had never been in a gymnastics facility till last school year at Thomas Gymnastics. This school year my kid was a competitive gymnast for Thomas and had an awesome first year competing. She won 32 medals this competitive season! Thank you Thomas for all that you do! My kiddo has enjoyed her first two years of gymnastics and is already looking forward to the next competitive season! She is hooked!

Do NOT send your child here the worst homeschool program/ childcare center around!
The reason for this review is that your teachers are not certified your teachers have not had background checks nor drug test nor cpr certified prior to being hired and these so called teachers are with your children all day and changing diapers and taking your little 2-3 yr olds to the bathroom and etc. it’s extremely dirty facility. There have been children with hands foot and mouth disease as well
As a staph infection and not one parent was notified of this nor was anything being cleaned. I brought all This to the attention of the director and apparently didn’t like the fact that I was concerned about all these things and they told my daughter that she wasn’t allowed to discuss the school or her job or concerns with family and friends and they didn’t like that so they let my daughter who loved working with the kids and the kids loved her (Moriah) so they told her it was not a good fit and she was let go! Very sad especially since my family has been very good friends with the director over the last two years and we thought we could talk to her about concerns but that was obviously not the case here, sad our friendship ended over this.

We moved to Myrtle about 4 months ago and all the neighborhood moms recommended Thomas Gymnastics. Our daughter started the Thomas Tots Academy and it was her first time being away from us. She adjusted with some extra help and support from her teachers and director! The staff is amazing and keep you updated on everything through an app. As a parent I love knowing that if my daughter doesn’t feel good or is having a rough day someone is able to contact us. We also love seeing all the new things she learned at school that day through her teachers posts, daily/weekly newsletters and photos! She’s going on her third month and she absolutely loves it and looks forward to going to school! We are so happy we found this program!!

My son attends the homeschool program at Thomas! He has learned so many new things this year! Most of all he has gotten confident. Having a parent teach you is wonderful but having someone else hold you accountable has taught him to be responsible and really focus and pay attention to the details!!! Plus having the gym to learn a new sport and challenge himself has been a blessing! We love Thomas!

My wife and I chose Thomas Gymnastics for our daughter’s first gymnastics experience (after jumping from soccer to tball to basketball, etc. with no success). She absolutely fell in love with Thomas’ gymnastics programs. We have been here for over a year now and would never dream of going anywhere else. We love seeing her growth in the gym, as well as the team relationships she is building with other girls her age and her coaches. Staff, from coaches to the front desk, is always willing to help and ensure you have great experiences. Highly recommend Thomas for everyone, from first timers to experienced gymnasts.

Our daughter's initial exposure to gymnastics was far from satisfactory. It all began with the unpleasant encounter with the receptionist, who displayed a complete lack of manners and assistance. Unfortunately, the situation only deteriorated from there. Our daughter received minimal guidance and was left to figure things out on her own, leading to frustration and tears. The lack of attention and instruction was truly disappointing. The so-called “instructors” seemed more like babysitters than educators, failing to provide any meaningful gymnastics training. If you are looking for a place where your children can truly learn gymnastics, this is definitely not it. The instructors, or rather babysitters, are simply dreadful. If it were up to me, I would rate this establishment a zero without hesitation.

The facilities are consistently clean and well-organized, creating a safe and welcoming environment. The curriculum is engaging, and the instructors are attentive to each student’s needs. Overall, Thomas Gymnastics stands out for its commitment to excellence, making it a fantastic choice for both recreational and competitive gymnasts. Hands down the best gym in the area! If you are looking for gymnastics or homeschooling fun options or summer camp and school vacation camp, this is the only place you should be considering!
They just completed and absolutely stunning renovation to the facility which makes it now twice the size that it used to be and it offers so much more for young kids and older kids as well. Including a basketball court and arts and crafts area, gymnastics area, and a very large playground area. They clearly spend a lot of money on what they give back to the community. Other nearby gymnastics facilities are a bit more on the "run down" side and our child hated going after school. This facility and their staff are top notch!

DANGEROUS place for toddlers!!!! I do not recommend anyone to bring small children here. I signed my child up for the little ninjas class in the afternoon, since it was the only one available. Upon arriving, no one greeted us, instead the woman behind the desk was braiding someone’s hair - ignoring us. I finally interrupted her to ask where we were suppose to go. Finally, the class begins, but the coach does not introduce himself to either myself or my child. Not sure if he even knew there was a new sign up? Very odd but my child now didn’t know who he should be listening to, since the coach didn’t introduce himself. The gym is HUGE, with no seperate space for toddlers. The class was held in the middle of the gym, surrounded by much older kids practicing as well. I was watching my child very intently because having toddlers in the middle of packed gym is not safe! And I was right - the class had about 8 children and two coaches - so appropriate ratio and you would think they can keep track of the toddlers. NOPE. My child ran off THREE TIMES and the neither coach even noticed!!!!!!! I had to RUN across the gym with my infant strapped to chest and retrieve my child from a foam pit that had middle schoolers jumping in! How unbelievable careless! I’ve worked in childcare for many years - I’ve never seen such careless attitudes towards a toddler group! There were maintenance workers walking through groups of small kids with huge tools just swinging by their arms. My child almost hurt his face on a metal piece coming off of a balance beam. WAY TOO MANY HAZARDS! I did not sign a waiver for this kind of carelessness. A toddler class should not be held after school hours and it should be seperated from bigger kids and also so toddlers don’t run off. I did speak with the owner and I hope she takes my suggestions and makes changes to this class/timing/safety of toddlers because it’s really an accident waiting to happen. This is not a toddler friendly environment.

I wanted to have a great experience with Thomas just like others have, but unfortunately we did not. My daughter hurt her shoulder in her very first beginner class bc the instructor did not have eyes on her when she did something with incorrect technique. I asked the owner if instructors are notified of first time students and he said they don’t have a way of doing that. Liability strike one. I know things happen, but he literally walked past her as she was sitting on the floor crying. I had to ask him to tell her to come to me. I did not like the fact that they seemed unbothered by the incident. Fast forward to when we enrolled her in after school care. We ended up taking her out bc she was complaining abt kids teasing her. No big deal, kids will be kids, so we paid for time she wasn’t even doing it to honor their contract. Then comes summer camp. My daughter didn’t want to go to Myrtle waves with them bc she felt like she didn’t have friends there. I specifically talked to 2 ladies there asking them to keep an extra eye on her in the trip. They agreed and said they’d even pair her with someone who they thought she’d get along with. The total opposite happened. They lost my kid in Myrtle waves and couldn’t find her for 45 minutes. Did they find her? No. She found them. Did they apologize to us abt it? No. One lady spoke with us and almost acted like it was my daughter’s fault. I chaperone sometimes. If I lose a kid, that’s on me. I’m def not blaming the kid. It happened on a Friday. Did the owner say anything to me on Monday? No. Did the lady apologize who said she’d look out for her and didn’t? No. We tried to bring her back after that but I just couldn’t deal with the fact that they just stepped over her being lost in the water park like it was normal. The park was open to the public that day. Anything could’ve happened. They will throw the book at parents in the name of accountability to get their money, but they certainly don’t hold themselves accountable when they are wrong. So we stopped bringing her. When we put her back into gymnastics, we will go to UGA. Straight up tumbling? We’ll go to 911 Athletics. Thomas is not the only game in town, thankfully.

My children have never struggled to transition to school or camp but both my children absolutely despised this summer camp. When I would pick up or drop off late and get the opportunity to go upstairs, I’d see the unreasonably small space the children remain sequestered to through most of the day and hear first hand the rude and demeaning young staff clearly overwhelmed by being caregivers to an over haul of unsettled and bored children.
The counselors appeared helpful in person when I addressed them but never passed messages along and when I had issues with my kids not actually getting the snacks I paid for them to enjoy.. the staff took my information but never rectified.
I’m not usually a complainer but this place is the worst. Not worth the hassle, Keep looking.

I would give this facility zero stars if possible. They lost my daughter on the first day of summer camp, resulting in the need to contact police. They tried to blame everyone but themselves. It was absolutely terrifying. Their staff has no organization and the building has no safety measures in place. Just went once so far to the toddler program 10:00 a.m. Wednesday mornings. Truly believe there needs to be some structure that's what we're trying to teach these little ones at this age .maybe a beginning circle time with hello song, you introduce everybody and maybe teach them to do some little butterfly stretches with their legs...also to music!! and then one station for everyone to go through together as best you can with a 2-year-old. But also lots of music, Disney songs...ect. there was no sound no music the adorable girl in charge I believe it was Hannah did what I guess she knew to do but it was nothing that even kept any child's interest so structure format & music and an actual repetive platform for that half an hour would be ideal to see happen thanks.

I would strongly caution parents against sending their children to Thomas Gymnastics. We signed our daughter up for their summer camp program this year. When my wife arrived to pick her up on the
first day, she was told by an employee that our daughter had already been picked up by her grandfather. When told that her grandfathers both live out of state, the employee switched her story, insisting instead that a "family friend" picked her up. After we confirmed that our emergency contacts had not in fact picked her up, we obviously believed that an unidentified person had taken her based on this employee’s statement. The staff could not find her and appeared very indifferent when asked to seek answers about who picked her up or her whereabouts. When my wife asked one employee about their status in locating our daughter, he replied that his shift had ended! My wife then called 911. After an officer arrived (and nearly an hour after my wife had initially arrived to pick our daughter up) they finally figured out that she had been incorrectly put on a bus to their facility in Conway. Apparently, when this bus was loaded, the staff called out the name of a child who shares a first name with my child, so when they called her name, she got on the bus. My daughter didn't even know that anything was wrong until the police came to find her hours later in Conway. While the director did send an email to apologize, he attempted to shift some blame for the incident on my daughter saying she was "confused". I can imagine that she would be since she's 6 and it was her first day there. She was certainly not so confused though that she wouldn’t know what her last name is, but apparently no one ever checked either before getting on the bus or after spending the entire day at the wrong facility where she wouldn’t have been on any kind of attendance list. To take this story at face value, you would also have to assume that another child was also displaced for the day. I would doubt that her family was ever informed. While I can understand a child being put on the wrong bus, I cannot understand the conduct of the employees at the Carolina Forest facility who caused a panic by providing incorrect information and showed no interest in correcting their mistake which necessitated the involvement of the police. The director promised in his email that this incident would result in procedural changes but since the problem appears to be indifferent and uncaring (and very, very young) employees, I doubt these changes will be helpful. Parents, please be careful about who you trust with your children.

I am a coach myself in another sport at a NATIONAL level and have watched sessions over the last few months with my daughter. Bad instruction. Time wasted no skill instruction I did not send her here for a day care. Gymnastics is a great sport to learn the fundamentals of All sports and coaches in some groups are doing great coaching and in other groups are being ignored at a key age of development and learning. It’s sad and Im embarrassing to watch one group get great coaching and being pushed and others being coddled and not even taught.

I want to compliment Thomas gymnastics for being outstanding in every way! My son was not excited about summer camp at first but after he saw how fun this place is he many times wanted to stay longer. They have so many field trips and events planned the kids never have time to get bored. The leaders go above and beyond to get to know the children and their parents. I feel like my son is in a safe place and I never leave feeling like things could be better! I give them 10 Stars!!! Thank you Thomas gymnastics for making my son's summer a blast and one to remember!

Terrible afterschool program and the boys gymnastics team is a waste of talent. They run through coaches and have terrible management.👎🏽

Had my son enrolled in the afterschool program, horrific experience.

They actually couldn't find my son in their own facility when we tried to pick him up, and then proceeded to lie about it.

Would not recommend to a single person, in fact I advise anyone to look elsewhere.

Editing to respond to the ownership:
Your response is condescending and excessively dishonest. I wish we had heard the terrible things floating around town about this place before he was enrolled, else we never would have let him through the front door. You should be ashamed of yourselves, but your god complex attitude that prevailed through all of our conversations reminds me that you lack the ability to. Cheers.

I am a gymnast at Thomas Gymnastics at the Beach and I absolutely recommend. I train every weekday for 3-4 hours and enjoy every practice. My coaches, Ashleyann Murray and Kimberleigh Riggs are outstanding. They always give me corrections that will help me grow stronger as a gymnast and they are always ready to help. Great gym, great coaches.

I also agree with Lorie...our daughter loved it there and went for almost 2 yrs...she had great teachers in the beginning and seemed to learn a lot but at some point they kept getting changed. Then some of the parents started noticing the same thing. The kids werent being instructed and werent correcting them. We also had another situation with my older son playing ball outside on their goal while his little sister had class. The ball had bounced off the backboard and hit the window. Well the window shattered. We felt like the insurance should pay for it since it was an accident and there was no ill intent . The owner wanted us to pay 600.00 out of pocket instead of filing a claim. Of course the owner starts with all these rules of they arent suppose to be on the goal without a teacher or parent with them and so on...the entire summer all the kids not only him had played on this goal and never did they say anything until then. We were willing to work something out until I didnt get in touch with him soon enough due to me working (like 3 days) and the owner leaves a voicemail for my husband stating that until we pay for the window our daughter isnt allowed to come back. This was the week of Christmas and she missed getting her trophy and the Christmas recital because of his ignorance. They placed the goal outside in front of the window and new kids played ball on it and then when an accident occurred they wanted to take the cheap way out and tried to force us to pay for it by suspending our daughter which to me was heartless. She loves gymnastics and she is only 3 and he took that away from her b/c he wouldnt go about the situation the right way. At that point I went looking for a new gymnastics class b/c to us that didnt make any sense to be like that behind an accident. The owners behavior was absolutely appalling to us. Those types of situations are exactly why businesses have insurance. Absolutely was in awe behind his behavior...

I paid $80 per month for a tumbling class for 50 minutes/week. My daughter learned NOTHING! During the 50 minute class they worked with her a total of no more than 10 minutes (and that's being generous, we timed it). She has started a new place that charges $45/month and in 2 weeks has already learned a front walkover and standing bridge so it was not her, definitely them. Do not waste your money there. Like I said, after searching around for a new gym most places charge less than $50/month, they were $80/month. And after telling them why we were leaving, all they said was that I needed to continue to pay for an extra month! Didn't even care that she had learned NOTHING!
