Hello Golf Lovers, if you visit or live in Myrtle Beach area, you must play Tidewater Golf Course in North Myrtle Beach. The course is in great shape. The staff is always pleasant and very helpful with any needs you may have. Then hang out after you play @ Joey's Grill @ Tidewater Golf course, they have good food and beverage, along with a great view of the 9th & 18th holes. Enjoy

Great place to play golf beautiful course right on the Waterway away away from the traffic. It's very close to little river in North Myrtle Beach. Highly recommend playing a round of golf at Tidewater it's a different experience.

Overall course was great. The one bad thing was the constant interruption from the greens crew. Almost every hole they were either blowing or rolling the fairway and the guy cutting the grass kept riding up on us, four holes to be exact. Also this was at 10-1 so not sure why they were even working at those hours. It was busy enough for the workers not to even care about the players. Took over 5 hrs to play and was not due to other golfers. we were forced to wait for the workers to go at their own pace. This is not a cheep course so the amount of money for the amount of disrespect from the staff is something I have never experienced. I am local but will not be back as there are so many other good courses where you are not bothered by the staff. I understand they need to get the work done too but not at the expense of the guests.

One of the best golf experiences in Myrtle Beach. From the moment you drive up to the bag drop, to the clubhouse, to the starter and then the round of play, they make you feel wanted and appreciated. The course is impeccable and just a pleasure to be played!

Played golf at Tidewater on 10/13/2025. It had rained a total of 6 inches in the previous two days from a Nor'easter. The course was very playable and in good condition. Almost no standing water, and no water in the bunkers. Carts were on the paths, but we had a great time. The staff was very friendly all around and our lunch was great. Will go back again.

Tidewater Golf Club offers stunning coastal views and a challenging layout that rewards smart play. With top-notch course conditions, memorable holes, and friendly staff, it’s consistently ranked among South Carolina’s best public courses. We cannot express our gratitude for the amazing staff during our 36 hole round. We originally were only playing 18 holes; however, with rain in the forecast for the next 2 days of our trip, we decided to play 9 extra holes. After that 9 holes, we decided why not play another 9. Their hospitality was top-notch!!! A must-play for any Myrtle Beach golf trip and we will definitely be back!

Wow what a scenic course with holes directly on the sound. The course was in great shape. This track can be a bit long but they do have a hybrid option if you’re play from the white tees. I’ve played here a few times and it never disappoints.

★ 1

Horribly overpriced, not to mention terribly run. We specifically booked a 7:45 AM tee time to get out in front of everyone, only to be sent off 10 and then get screwed over at the turn. They let group after group go ahead of us and made us wait at the turn (hole #1, which was our 10th). Doesn’t make any sense to punish the people who get there earlier and pay more by making them wait while you keep sending people off. We literally had 4 groups on every hole, and it took us over 3 hours to play 9. Again, incredibly overpriced for a course that was extremely underwhelming. Overall very poor experience 👎.

This is absolutely one of the most enjoyable golf courses I have played. It's challenging yet very playable. A few bad shots here and there can get you into trouble quickly. Unfortunately I hit too many bad shots some days but this course is my favorite to date in the Myrtle Beach area. Some of the holes are in the neighborhood and others are out on the marsh. The views on I believe holes 3,4,12 and 13 are incredible. I strongly suggest taking your phone to 13th green snap a picture or two without holding up play.

One negative and it's understandable due to the nature of the golf course was the pace of play. The GPS system said we were on pace but it was a 5 hour round.

Great course and clubhouse. The pace of pace was 5:30 and we were the first tee time off. Just something to keep in mind because we were trying to play 36 and this made it difficult. They start people on 10. For 155 a round I would expect a better place of play and not to wait for 30 min on number 10. Loved the course but doubt I would be back because of this.

We have played Tidewater for years whenever we vacation in Myrtle Beach. My son & husband played 3 & 1/2 weeks ago, I didn't because my daughter-in-law does not play. My husband and son were paired with 2 young brothers, 20 yrs. old and late teen, who had never played golf, they were wearing running shoes, and rented clubs. We think when making tee times you should ask if the golfer has a handicap or if they are experienced golfers? And pair golfers accordingly, not golfers with inexperienced players! Tidewater green's fee's are not cheap! We understand resort/vacation play, families are together and decide to play their yearly round! But, is it fair to experienced golfers? NO! I am writing this review because I have experienced this same issue when my husband & I have played in previous years and because I had to listen to them complain the whole time we were in Myrtle about the only golf round they played. The reason I gave 3 stars is because we like the course and it is beautiful but...... Do better!

Played Tidewater on June 26th after many 90+ degree days and the course was in great shape from tee to green.

There are several postcard holes along the inter-coastal/marshland that offer great views.

Service at the bag drop, proshop and on the course were all A+. A nice touch on a hot day was that in addition to a cart person going around there was another worker going around with ice and cold water to fill up your personal container.

The only negative was the length of the round at 5 hours on a weekday morning. The root cause of this is doing split tees through the morning.
After our front 9 we had to wait 25 minutes to tee off 10, and then wait on every shot after. A 5 hour round on a weekday morning is ridiculous!

I was told there were no times after 9:45am booked. Book times through early afternoon starting on one only, at least on weekdays. PLEASE

Appreciate the feedback from the course. I would question a target of 4 hours 45 minutes for a round. I’ve never played a course with a targeted round that long. Most target 4 hours to 4 hours 15 minutes. A few private clubs target less than 4 hours.

I’ll give it a 4 star only for the views you get and layout of the course. For the money I wasn’t very happy with the shape of this course. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in rough shape. Pace of play was pretty slow and we had to deal with maintenance workers in front of us the entire front 9. Of the entire 8 man group we had this was every ones 3rd favorite course out of the 3 we played

Source: Google

★ 2

Fairways in good shape, rough especially around bunkers was recently sodded and pretty much bare. Greens decent with a fair amount of poa in them but rolled true. Worst part was pace of play which was abysmal. 5.5 hours waiting on group in front of us on every shot though they never waited on anyone. With green fees at this rate you would expect a ranger enforcing proper pace. Will not be back if this isn’t remedied.

Great layout with plenty of variety of holes to keep your interest. The course meanders through a development of nice houses, but they are not too intrusive. The course can be tough with the prevailing ocean breeze. We played in early April, so wasn't too surprised by the tight lies. I assume it will be much better by the middle of May.

Source: Google

★ 3

Tidewater has a great layout but needs some work. Greens were over run with poa annua making it difficult to get a smooth roll in the afternoon. Fairways were bare in a lot of areas and thin in the rest. For $130, I expect better conditions. Not a course I would recommend in the current condition.

★ 2

Reason for 2 stars: Pro shop staff very nice and great views on course. After that zero. Greens have a bunch of poa in them. They will say it's weather related but this was only course we played in North myrtle that had this issue. Also while the greens are fast, maybe too fast for most golfers with the poa in them, the pin placements a on most of the holes were such that you couldn't stay below the hole and had very sloping putts and I'm a 4 handicap. I suggest you spend your time and money at another course until they get the greens fixed.

I will preference this by saying the golf course (greens and tee boxes) had issues with them and the course was aware of this. With that said, the staff - everyone from the starter to the pro shop - including the cart person and the snack bar ladies on the turn - were all excellent!

The General Manager and the teaching professional were above and beyond excellent. They are extremely professional and handled our situation and concerns well above and beyond my expectation.

I would highly recommend Tidewater Golf but would recommend asking how the course conditions are before booking - they are super honest and will definitely let you know how things are. This course has always been phenomenal when I have played it in the past - my experience this time is out of the norm.

Definitely give them a go,,I know I will go back for sure!!

I rate this course a three star overall. The good: course layout and service (pro shop, cart attendants and marshals). The bad: tee boxes and especially the greens. I have played Tidewater for the past 30 years as it’s one of my favorite courses on the strand. But my round this past week was disappointing. The condition of the course was the worst I’ve ever seen. I know there has been a drought, but I played many other courses in the area that are kept pristine. I’m not sure what happened here. The greens are rock solid and the areas around the green are full of weeds on many holes. I still like the course and the staff, but I’m hoping the conditions will improve. Especially at the price that’s being charged.

I recently played Tidewater and would say I was really impressed with the course. However, I cannot overlook the pace of play which was 5.5 hrs. In all fairness, the Pro did warm us about it being slow but I was thinking it would be 5 hrs. Courses need to start taking this seriously vs. the attitude that they cannot do anything to prevent or address when it is happening.

I’d play it again but would not in morning and would call about how busy it was before going out.

First time playing the course, great course. The staff was friendly. The course had plenty of golfers on it, but the rangers had everyone moving. Great time, solid course. Would recommend playing.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of playing Tidewater. It was a reunion of sorts with some old friends. Some of us played two rounds and others three. The course was in impeccable condition, the staff, pro shop and restaurant were amazing! These people care about giving you an amazing experience. I can’t wait to go back. If you miss this course when you’re in Myrtle Beach you’ve missed one of the best courses and experience. Thank you to everyone I interacted with at Tidewater!

Here’s a review from a very direct baby boomer who lives in the area. Being on social security, I don’t play these “high end” courses very often because of economics. That said, I treat myself once in a while and Tidewater delivered in every area!!! I’m a 16 handicap and don’t drive it very far. Folks, Jack Nicklaus recommends playing it forward and I highly recommend it. This course is on sea level and the humidity is high — so the ball doesn’t go as far (trust me on this). 5 hour round which is tough but we are in the golf capital of the world. The staff (from the bag drop guy, to the pro shop gentleman to the starter and the beverage cart lady — all were EXCEPTIONAL!!! This course is very challenging but fair. You can DEFINITELY loose some balls. If the wind is blowing, you’ll likely loose more balls. There are some forced carries but play smart. Tidewater is usually rated in the Top 5 in the area. I hereby confirm these accolades and look forward to playing again.

We came down from Columbia, SC to play a couple of courses and Tidewater was high on our list. We had played here last year and had an incredible experience. Back again this year to end our vacation and it was wonderful, again, as expected.
I see a lot of people crying about stuff that happens at every golf course I have ever played in the past 45 years of playing golf. There are always going to be backups behind foursomes. Granted the Bunkers could use some work but they were sufficiently playable AND... Because of what I read here on Google Reviews I even mentioned it at the clubhouse while checking in. I was told there is a plan to refurbish them as the seasonal flow allows. The grass issues we encountered at the other courses we played up in Calabash was horrible but Tidewater was is great shape.
We only had time to play the front 9 before we hit road and were paired up with 2 young men who were 1/2 our age and they were great guys.
The cost was/is a bit steep but well worth the experience.
All in All a great experience and I would recommend this course highly, AND I will be back!
DONT LET The crybaby's on here deter you. You will truly enjoy everything this place has to offer.

The golf course is in alright condition regarding the fairways and greens. The tee boxes are worn and the bunkers are even less maintained. However, the worst part of the experience is the disregard for customer service and the lack of caring for what is going on during play. Our round took 5hrs and 40 mins. The group in front of us had 3 open holes and we never saw a ranger. Evidently the problem is well known because several support people said it is common place. The group was slow, did not rake the bunkers, did not fix ball marks and the management of the course that day simply did not care.

If you want close to a 6hr round with zero to no customer service this is the place for you.

To say I was disappointed is an understatement. My wife and I who play a lot of golf really look forward to playing it. We had a 7:30 tee time on a Tuesday and we were paired with 2 very nice guys. We teed off the first hole and it went downhill from there. The Bunkers were in terrible condition throughout the course. We played the front nine in just under 2 hours. When we were going to make the turn things got ugly. The starter told me to hold up as they hadn’t finished sending people off the back. Now I understand the reason for sending golfers off both sides( I work at a Club). The issue was we had to wait 37 minutes before we could head to the 10th tee. Once we got there play came to almost a snails pace. Then we saw that once we hit the green it was filled with Poana grass. And the bunkers again were in terrible condition. After the last put dropped it took us over 3 hours to play. To pay over $360 dollars for my wife and I to play seems ridiculous for 1. Time it took to play 2. The Bunkers were in terrible shape 3. The greens were infested. To top it all off I decided to complain to the Asst Pro and was told that almost of the courses at the beach were having problems with Poana and 5 hours is the norm. Well on both counts I disagree. We’ve played plenty of very good courses at the beach with no green issues and none took anywhere close to 5 hours Needless w say I can’t recommend spending that kind of money on this course.

Not to the expected standards.......tee boxes, greens and bunkers all need attention. Typically one of our MB favorite courses, but currently not worth the premium. A slow round with our last group playing in 5.5 hours......just not acceptable!! Hope they are able to turn things around quickly.

I accidentally left my credit card at the bar when buying drinks in the middle of the afternoon today, and didnt notice I left it until I had finished up my round of golf and departed the course. I called hours later whilst everyone was closing up for the day and one of the employees ended up personally driving out his way to return it to me since I was still close in the area. Tidewater has the goated staff and I will forever be grateful to them, and I cant wait to return to play there again

The course is very aesthetic, but that was the only redeeming factor to it. It should be criminal to charge the rates they do for that course. Greens were spotty with weeds all over, greenside bunkers weren’t manicured well, teed off over 30 minutes late and had to wait 15 minutes per shot. Multiple times there were 3 different foursomes backed up on one tee box. Never once saw a ranger to help with the pace of play. The round took over 5 and a half hours. With how many other great courses there are around here, I can’t imagine ever coming back

For the price I paid I honestly feel robbed. Waited 15 minutes EVERY SHOT. Tee’d off 30 minutes late. Management just wants your money. They absolutely do not care about ensuring you have a positive experience at Tidewater. The greens aren’t in great shape either. Some really great views thats the only thing positive I can say about the course. Extremely disappointed with my overall experience. With so many great golf options in the area. I will not be returning here again. Hats off to the carts guys! Your the only MVPs.

8 of us guys went on a 3 day golf trip. Tidewater was booked for day 2 and we were all beyond excited to play it. We had all heard good things, and of the 3 courses to play, I think this one was at the top for each of us.

When I say Tidewater was a disappointment, that’s putting it kindly. It was the most OVERPRICED, UNDERRATED, POORLY MANAGED, POORLY MANICURED, let down of a golf course I have ever played. $230 to wait 15-20 minutes between shots. Took us 3 hours to play… the front… followed by another 2.5 hours to play the back, and I think that’s just because people got tired of waiting and quit.

We saw one… ONE staff member aside from the cart girl who we saw 3x, the staff in the clubhouse and getting carts together were not friendly, and none of them apologized for anything mentioned above.

The tee boxes were fine and the fairways were decent. But to pay over $200 in greens fees for what we putted on was absurd. The bunkers looked like my 3 year olds figured out how to start a weedeater and took it to the edges. I never would’ve thought a 1:51 tee time would yield missing dinner reservations at 8:00. Absolutely ridiculous. I will not be going back.

So excited to finally play this course. Then they loaded up the course with way too many golfers like they seem to typically do on the weekends and our round took 5.5 hours! Absolutely miserable! No ranger around to make sure play was moving along. They put the 36 hole replay golfers out in front of us paying $215 to play. Will NEVER play here again! So disappointed!

Took us 5 hours and 40 minutes to complete 18 holes today. There were three groups on every tee box waiting. The course has also gone down hill condition wise. Greens are covered in crab grass patches. To make up for the pace of play we were offered free ice water on hole 14 which was laughable. Hate it because this is usually one of our favorite courses in the area but we don’t plan on going back.

Great experience despite hideous weather. unfortunately those are the things you can't control. definitely would like to come back here and play when it wasn't pouring down the rain and cold with 20 mph wind gust. that being said, this course drained better than all the others we played. so kudos to the staffing for that. considering the amount of rain there were very few if practically no wet areas. shockingly. a couple great signature holes on the inner coastal that really reminds me of dataw Island golf club and somewhat similar to Pebble beach feels. Great clubhouse. lots of merchandise. plenty of food options. staffing was terrific. really hard to complain other than the weather

While the course and staff are the lovely, the management epitomizes pure greed. They sell out both sides of the golf course in the morning. While you might play your first 9 in an acceptable amount of time, your second nine will be at least one hour longer than the first. They say they target 4:30 pace. Don’t be fooled, it’s 5 hours at best, and most likely 5:30.

You come to some places every year, some places you’ll never return. Tidewater is the latter, as long as current management is in place.

Normally a good golf experience, but today 9/2/23, course was in very poor condition. I acknowledge there was a tropical storm 3 days ago, but very little attention had been given to the course. Most all bunkers were hard and crusty with mud and had not been groomed. The greens were suspect at best. The most disappointing thing was we paid a premium ($119- 8:30 tee time) to play on a course that was not deserving of that fee at all. The course today, was probably a $60 course. I would not play this course again anytime soon based on the progress of storm clean up.

UPDATE(9/7): After speaking with Matt at pro shop, he explained course condition and all efforts that were being taken. He answered all questions and was very professional. We were given rain checks to be used at a later date, which was very much appreciated.
