I have had very positive experiences at the Y. I have been a member for 13 years, and I look forward to going to the Silver Sneakers Class two to three times a week. I also enjoy going to the warm water pool and can ' t wait for it to open again. I think that warm water was instrumental in helping me get back in shape after having a spinal fusion.

I use to despise exercising. But not anymore. I have been coming to the Y for several years now. Love love love the people who work there. Everyone is so pleasant and friendly. It's like family. And Silver Sneakers instructors make exercising fun. I also love chair yoga and Tai chi classes, and Crystine and Joseph are a real pleasure to know. And let's not forget Cathy with the Active Adults....always having activities to keep us active..

I love working out at the Sumter YMCA. The staff is always courteous, pleasant, positive and willing to assist. They have a wide range of equipment for all the excersices that I do for cardio and strength training. And the pool side is great too. Called a day before to confirm hours for the pool. New to the area. Drove 35 mins the next day only to be told the card reader is not accessible at 8am in the morning and it’s cash only. Also confirmed it was $20 for a day pass on the phone, and then it went to $25 cash only on arrival. No ATM available. Waste of gas and time. Planning ahead doesn’t mean anything nowadays I guess.

We were walking guests and the lady at the first desk ( Zoe) was very helpful and explained all the options of joining. After speaking with her she had one of the staff take us on a tour of the facility which was impressive. We explain that we wanted to check out the other gyms in town and found that the YMCA would be better fit for our retirement needs and motivation.

I have been enjoying my experience at the Y. I come in with my very shy teenage daughter. However, she has been comfortable and feels free to workout as she likes. And I love every bit of it!! The YMCA is a major part of my life in Sumter. I attend a Chisel class MWF and I go to yoga too. I don't think that I've ever been in better physical condition due to my schedule at the Y. I've also made many social connections in the classes for seniors. I'd encourage other seniors to develop a routine at the Y. My routine has been very beneficial to my overall health.
