Prior to talking with staff, I never knew they switched up the routes so often! They make multiple completely new routes on Top Rope, Lead, and Bouldering every week!! They even have the schedule up by their Calendar when you walk in, so you know where the new ones are located. Really makes Rock Climbing a feasible workout when you can try something new every time you come in during the week. Super cool!

We had my sonβs Birthday party here, it was a great idea!
Justin and staff were helpful, accommodating, and made it fun for all of us, even the parents!
I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for idea for their kids party as fall/winter options can be limited. We will definitely be back!

I hate to leave a one star but hopefully it can get someones attention. I have been calling in and was told that you guys were supposed to cancel my membership. I came in and signed the form in June, you never processed it. I stopped the payments in september because I realized I was getting charged. I have called in and talked to someone and I am now getting calls from a collection company. Someone needs to get this handled. I tried to call in and it sends me to voicemail.

Great local spot with climbs for everyone! We were passing through for the day and wanted to get a workout in, so purchased a day pass. Staff was helpful, facility was clean, and was impressed by the amount of routes they had! Bouldering, top rope, lead, auto belay AND a gym. Definitely check it out!!!

Iβve come here when visiting for out of town on many occasions to use the weight room. Day pass is $12. Itβs solid. Has plenty of machines, dumb bells and free weights to get your splits in.

This gym is an absolute gem! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and you can tell they genuinely care about the community and making everyone feel welcome. The setting is top-notch, with thoughtful, creative routes that are clearly set with intention and love for the sport. Huge shoutout to Connor (sp?) for consistently putting up fun and challenging problems - the quality really stands out.
The facility itself has everything you could want: a Kilter Board, a well-equipped fitness area, and super clean bathrooms and showers with towels (seriously, such a nice touch). Itβs such a refreshing breath of fresh air compared to the mega corporate gyms This place has heart and it shows!

Wasnβt a huge fan of the setting, emphasis seemed to be put on large thrutchy movement in the bouldering section. Employees seemed slightly disengaged. The community was super cool and the addition of a training board was nice. Almost 4 stars.

It was our first time climbing, and we felt very comfortable and safe. The receptionist was very friendly and explained the basics to us so we could climb without difficulty. There's a type of assisted "pulley" (I don't know the name), but using it requires prior training, which is provided here.

Who is cleaning the fitness center?! That is my main concern. I have been a member of the frontier fitness center (without the climbing) for almost a year and it never use to be as dirty. It seems like no one is up keeping the necessary cleaning that should be done at a gym that people are paying to use. A couple months ago it was just as bad and finally someone cleaned. It seems like it only gets cleaned every two months, if that. It does not make you feel like the money you pay to use a gym is going to good use to keep the facility clean when you can visibly see dust bunnies accumulating under equipment and dirt on the floor. I wanted to say something before, but then it finally was taken care of. Now that it is happening again it seems to be a reoccurring issue. I love this gym otherwise so it bums me out that this issue has still not been resolved.

We have been regularly going to Frontier Climbing for several months now. The atmosphere is always very friendly and welcoming. The staff is great and you can tell they enjoy what they do. We took classes in top rope and lead climbing and the classes were relaxed but extremely informative and easy to understand. There are new routes regularly and there's always a new challenge every week. The facilities are clean and well kept which is a rare thing we've noticed from most gyms we've been to. Overall this is by far our favorite gym we've been apart of. We've met a lot of fellow climbers and it's always fun to have a group helping each other out on the projects. If you want a fun place to go for exercise with a great atmosphere then Frontier is a great choice.

When friends invited me here 10 months ago I had no knowledge of climbing and didn't know Frontier existed in Sioux Falls. It was far outside of my comfort zone at first but by my third visit I was hooked! The local climbing community is very welcoming and Frontier has a great atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and helpful when you need it. Their classes are relaxed and very informative. There are plenty of route options whether you prefer bouldering, top rope, or lead climbing. It's a great activity for people of all ages. I encourage everyone to give it a try at least twice!

A friend who just moved here talked me into coming here. I had never climbed before and wasn't sure I'd love it. It took some time and getting out of my comfort zone but I had a blast!!! We stayed for just over 2 hours and I will definitely be back, probably next weekend ;) Some reviews say it's a bit expensive compared to other gyms. As I can't comment on that, I can say they have punch cards that save you $10 a visit if you don't want to start a membership so it comes to $15 per day pass which seems reasonable to me for what you get there. That price includes the equipment rental as well. Thanks for bringing this to Sioux Falls, we can always use more indoor activities especially in the winter!

Itβs a nice facility. The ropes are pretty solid and the kilter board is nice to have too.
Leaving 3 stars for two reasons.
1: the gym is overpriced. I didnβt need to rent any equipment and still ended up spending over $20 after tax for a day pass. Thatβs too expensive.
2: the bouldering area just isnβt very good. The route setting feels pretty clunky and seems to favor more awkward/strong moves rather than fun and interesting techniques and it results in routes that just donβt flow well. The grading feels way off. Their lower graded climbs feel about a grade off and their higher graded climbs feel like they could be 2-3 grades off with not a lot of consistency in the grading. I noticed there were also no v0βs on the wall. Iβm normally a v6-v7 level boulderer so it didnβt matter much to me, but if I wanted to bring a beginner to try bouldering, thereβs nothing there for them to do. If you want to boulder here youβd be better off spending your whole session on the kilter board.

TLDR; If the staff and ownership didn't seem actively hostile towards climbers, the gym would be much better. Not good for beginners.
Having been part of the climbing community now for a little while, I feel as though I have some decent insight for a review. I believe that this gym is not very beginner friendly for climbing. Bouldering problems are graded VERY stiff, and don't seem accessible to newer climbers. A friend of mine who is a national level climber also feels this way about the grading.
I have heard from multiple different people stories of bad interactions with staff, that ended with yelling.
When I moved from Sioux Falls, my debit card had been hacked and was canceled. I forgot to cancel my membership at the time. Fast forward a couple months, I was contacted by the gym and told that they were going to take me to court in order to get my missed payments. I informed them about the mistake I'd made, and that I hadn't been living in SD for months, asking if they would allow me to pay for just one month and let me off the hook. They refused, and instead said that if I didn't pay off the months of missed payments immediately, then they would also charge me an extra two months of membership fees on top of what I owed. IF YOU GET A MEMBERSHIP, YOU MUST GIVE 60 DAYS NOTICE BEFORE CANCELLING.
I personally understand that gym memberships have rules, but it seems a bit over the top for a "small" local business to threaten court and call collections over less than $300 owed by a college student who has been living in a different state, not using the membership they forgot to cancel.
The redeeming quality of this gym is that the ropes routes are solid in my opinion. If the staff and ownership didn't seem actively hostile towards climbers, the gym would be much better.

This place has a lot of potential! But I'm rating it a 3 because the climbing staff kind of sucked, weren't clear on how we do orientation and had poor customer service skills when handling a misunderstanding which example was them blaming us for not understanding clearly that we had to talk to them to get an orientation after we waited 10 minutes with our stuff on and decided to climb when no one came.
The bouldering wall is just way too difficult for the levels they rated it at. They actually put problems at a range of levels it "could be", which just clearly demonstrates that these people don't know how to build bouldering problems. Especially when the person giving us an orientation said "we label it two levels (on one route) because a lot of people were saying what we rated it was wrong". Like, what? Then figure out why then?
In anycase, I'm glad this gym is here. It can do good! I would love to see how it does in a year time with better training from staff, better bouldering problems, and honestly filling the rock climbing gym with things that standard rock climbing gyms have.

Weβre members here and very much enjoy the climbing gym. I will say the weight room (while we were there last) has begun looking a little worse for wear. Seems some of the equipment hasnβt been cleaned and is beginning to get covered in dust. The spray bottles with cleaning spray and towels were also missing and the hand sanitizer dispenser was empty. We havenβt been there in a while because of this. Kind of a bummer.

Just a great environment to get:
- simple climbs (rounded, easy holds)
- intermediate climbs (5.4-5.7)
- hard climbs (5.8-12a)
- bouldering
- top-rope on easy to hard routes
- lead climbs made really easy through their offered trainings
Really delivered on what climbers are looking for as Iβve been climbing for about a year and really have been enjoying my time here while I stay in Sioux Falls.

The most unprofessional so called trainer Travis Ewart!!! treats his staff by yelling at them. He also treats paying patrons like in my opinion in one of the most disrespectful manner. A minor with a physical disability right paralized arm, Yells t him and others around to witness recorded on video. When a wieght slipped out of his right hand and hit the ground accused of making noise and trouble. No noise allowed!! Can not take off shirt in locker room to be proud and take pics of his own progress. Accused of denting the concrete wall, my grandson paid him 50.00 cash as a minor. When trying chalk for the first time with again right arm disability dropped it on accident. Made him Mop the floors and vacuam well. He is 17 never informed adult. I could go on with more but will be sharing soon the video of the professionalism. NOT!!! Do not recommend this place to others in my opinion!!!! Social Media can go along way.

Experienced climber reviewing the Climbing area only.
First time in the gym, I was able to easily fill out my waiver online before I visited. Staff was able to give a belay and lead test quickly and we were able to get to climbing with almost no wait.
Very nice modern gym. We only climbed in the Lead and bouldering areas. I really appreciated the separate kids/party area, and lots of room around auto-belays so if a birthday party was happening we would still have had our space to climb. There were plenty of people in the gym yet it still felt very open and uncrowded.
Route density was very low with just a single route on each rope, they could probably double or triple the density for more regular users but I suspect that route density will increase as time goes on.
I didn't see a training area with hangboard/campus/training board, but maybe I just missed it. If I lived in SF I would become a member.

I am only giving 5 stars because I can't give 6.
For climbers, this is a FANTASTIC facility. Really good lead walls, great bouldering area, and amazing sets. This type of structure is what one expects to find at first-class climbing gyms, I was truly amazed by the place.
For those non-climbers or families going to try it out for the first time, there is a ton of things to try too for all ages; and the staff is very good at guiding you through the process.
The staff was also very friendly and the environment was awesome.
Probably the best climbing gym in the area.

Offered a great variety of levels for all climbers. The staff were very accommodating, and everyone in the family (ages 10-19) had a blast!
