Can’t say enough good things about Will with MB Wellness. The program he put together based on what I wanted to get out of the training (mobility, flexibility and strength in that order) has been one of the best things I have done for my body. This is the first time in 8 years, since suffering a serious back injury and subsequent surgery, that I have had a pain free back and it’s 100% due to the customized program of targeted exercises Will put together and his attention to form making sure I’m doing them correctly. The smaller group size and Will’s positive attitude also makes the sessions personable and enjoyable as we all work through our own customized routines. 100% recommend!!!

I had been looking for a functional fitness trainer for awhile, and I’m so happy I found Will!! Getting older, owning a business, being a busy mom, and having previous injuries, I knew I wanted someone who could help me be efficient, build my strength back, and also not cause further injury or pain with my workouts. I’ve wanted to make a review for a long time but decided to let it go, but now hearing that Coach Will is offering “life coaching”, I wanted to relay my personal experience with trainer Will in his previous gym in hopes that it gives a well-rounded understanding of the experience you may expect.
I worked with Will both as a member of his previous gym as well as helped the business side of things providing recipes and grocery shopping tips for members.
I’ll get the training aspect out of the way. Does Will know functional fitness? Yes. Did I enjoy my time at his previous gym? Yes absolutely, however mostly in part of his former business partner, who was, in my opinion, the heart (and brains) of the gym.
Now, the other parts.
Will’s day-to-day seemed, to me, and I also heard from other members, very dependent on his personal mood. Some days he was bouncy and energetic, others he was short and clearly annoyed.
His instructions, while beneficial, relied too heavily on personal anecdotes and less about the folks he was instructing. While his previous business partner always encouraged collaborative expression, Will’s insights, at times, came off as a vanity project.
I once received a massage from Will and the entire session consisted of him talking about himself, his personal life, and giving unsolicited life advice.
As both a member and a colleague to some capacity, I did not feel comfortable speaking up at the time. I felt “stuck”, many times, listening to him talk AT me, rather than to me. I signed up for a massage, not a lecture.
I will not go into detail here to respect the specific privacy of those involved, but, my opinion of Will changed drastically when I saw the way he spoke (again) AT, his previous colleagues when he thought no one else could hear or see. It gave me a glimpse of what Will might really be like and the façade he may have while he “coaches” others through life.
We’re all human, I get that, we have stress and good days and bad but for someone who speaks so highly about mental health, hearing Will partake in what I can only personally describe as mental abuse, was terrifying.
I couldn’t believe someone who marketed themselves one way, could act so differently than what I thought they weren’t being seen.
Honestly, to this day he probably never knew I was in the room while he was verbally attacking this person. But you better believe I was there to help pick up the pieces of the harm he caused.
His expectations of others seemed to me as though they did not extend past his own nose.
Further, I found for both myself and heard from other members, that his advice for mothers was very tone-deaf. Hearing unsolicited advice when he’s never been in the weeds as a mother himself would result in the world’s biggest eye-roll.
Maybe he’s changed since that experience (I sincerely hope so).
If I could give stars on his functional fitness instruction ONLY, I’d give 4 stars (one star removed because, again, depending on his mood, if you couldn’t get something right away there were times he would get clearly frustrated with you).
But, stars based on how much I’d trust him to “life coach” me? Negative stars.
I want folks promoting mental health to practice what they preach, and not actively contribute to mental health harm of others. And not just when other people are looking.

Will has a completely different approach to help the body heal in multiple ways. He understands how your bodies alignment will affect your mobility, pain, strength, energy levels, etc. Will can teach you how a few stretches and exercises that will positively impact your body for toning, strength training or just a simple daily task. I have experienced this myself! But more amazing is watching my clients (who I referred to Will) experience positive life changes in pain management, muscle strength and flexibility.

I have an existing gym membership, pay to participate in two soccer leagues, and try to stay active in my day to day.
So why did I add this?
Because Will excels is the small group. I have wanted to work with someone who has the expertise and guidance to help my functional mobility.
These sessions have made such a difference for me already.
Even in small group personal training you're getting one-on-one adjustments and tips. Will knows what exercises I should push myself on and gives me a range of reps on ones where I can take a break.
I come in, work my butt off, house 1-2 water bottles and am out and on with my schedule in less than an hour. Can't get any better than that!

I have a 9-inch plate and screws in my right collarbone, along with an ongoing knee issue, and Will has done an incredible job of creating a workout plan that helps me build strength and tone up—without causing injury or aggravating old surgeries.
I'm currently down nearly 50 pounds since having my last baby, and I’m feeling stronger and more confident every week.
