Jan was great in helping me deal with my Bells Palsy! It's a bit disconcerting when half your face suddenly decides it's not going to move. I also have a small business and when talking to customers with a sagging face, all thoughts of anything else goes right out the window. When your eye doesn't close all the way and you're drooling out the side of your mouth (RBF to the extreme and only on one side), it's hard to concentrate on anything else.
After going to urgent care to confirm that is what I had and had not suffered a stroke, I got the meds prescribed to help get it under control. I am not a patient person and was in a little bit of a panic with my livelihood at stake.
I was familiar with Jan's work and decided to reach out to see if there was anything she could do to help. She spent the first 20 minutes evaluating to see if she could help, at which point, she would have stepped away without charging. During that time, she was giving me exercises to try and talked me through what she was doing. She did take longer than 20 minutes, but I came away with great information.
Following her recommendations, I was able to recover nearly fully in about 2 to 2-1/2 weeks, which is very fast. It's 4 weeks later and I can whistle again! I had heard stories about it taking 6 months to years for recovery and was fully prepared for that to be the case. Everyone is different, so you may get different results, but for a very reasonable fee, I was able to get the help I so desperately wanted at that time.

I heard Jan speak to our Rotary club and decided that I would give her whole body method of Pilates a try. I have never done Pilates, but I did know that it was movement that would help build flexibility and strength. I decided to plan 4 individual sessions with her and I learned so much. I knew I couldn’t continue individual sessions, because of finances and time. We discussed what else might work and she suggested her on line program. It was hard for me, but my goal was to learn, do things right and at my pace. After a month, I know I have a long way to go, but I have improved noticeably and have begun to look forward to each session. I decided that I would do each workout for three sessions during the week. The next week, I do the same with the second workout and finally the third. It has been great and have ordered the next month’s workouts.

Excellent presentation. At first I thought the exercises went to fast until I realized there was a speed adjustment on the zoom!!. This time was so much better and I was able to follow Jan no problem. She does a good job explaining each step of each exercise. The exercises in zoom#3 were very helpful for me as I am starting to have balance issues and would really like to continue with them.

Attended an introductory session on Fall Prevention with Jan offered through Community Education of the Black Hills. The session was eye opening for me. Jan explained the brain-body connection in clear and concise terms and how, once having fallen, the brain needs to be taught through a variety of exercises involving your balance system, i.e., your eyes and your ears, how to be confident moving again.

I am familiar with Pilates but this was my first Stretch and Breath class with Jan. It was PHENOMENAL! I had done a hard weight workout earlier that morning and expected the normal post workout soreness to creep in as the day progressed, but after this Stretch and Breath class - NO soreness at all! Attending classes at PilatesWhole Body has been a transformative experience for me. Before joining, I suffered from debilitating back spasms that prevented me from lifting my grandchildren, enjoying gardening or even being able to exercise. Chiropractic visits were becoming costly and offered only temporary relief. Faced with the choice between expensive physical therapy and Pilates, I opted for Pilates. Remarkably, within just six weeks, I noticed significant improvements in my strength and flexibility, and my back pain substantially decreased. After several months of weekly sessions, I'm thrilled to share that my back pain has completely disappeared!
I particularly value Jan's approach to teaching Pilates. She meticulously explains and demonstrates each movement and exercise, ensuring that you can perform them correctly. I've attended other classes, but none have matched the effectiveness of her teaching style.

I signed up for a four week set of group classes to work on my core strength. Jan talks us through every move and she does them along with us so we can see what good form should look like. It’s a good challenge so I signed up for another four weeks! I typically do dance fitness classes and not much extra for my core strength. Here’s what I’ve noticed. My core strength has improved, I’m more flexible, my balance seems to be better, and I’m trying out the more challenging parts of the moves and able to do them easier each time. I tried a class with Jan and enjoyed it. It's kind of like a combination of flexibility, posture, and calisthenics. You flow through the exercises while trying to keep your breathing in rhythm. Exercises can be modified based on your strength or flexibility. Seems easy at first, but the movements that work your core are tough. Give it a try.

I had never tried Pilates and really didn’t know anything about it. I’m more of a team sports player. I had tried a different form of exercise once (yoga)and did NOT like it. I had pain in my back and hips. A friend of mine recommended Jan but, I was skeptical thinking how would doing pilates help. From my iniital phone call to meeting her in-person, Jan took the time to explain specific movements and even helped me troubleshoot the pain with very simple stretches.
