My heart just swells with so much joy and pride everytime I talk or think about Angela Floyd Performancing Arts PreSchool!!! I can not say enough about how much they have shaped my daughter’s way she learns, process her emotions and expresses them through rhythm, dance, and music! Before my daughter started coming to AFS 3 years ago, she was struggling with aggressive behavior towards classmates and teachers due to her speech impediment! She was asked to leave 2 different daycare facilities for her temperament! I actually enrolled her in AFS preschool hoping to find something to help tire her out and break up her day! HOWEVER, WHAT I GOT WAS HUNDRED TIMES MORE THAN I EVER COULD IMAGINE! I got teachers, staff, and parents that poured into my daughter! She learned her abc’s, French, music notes, ballet, tap, jazz, drama, art pallets, performing in front of large audiences, and so much more! I love the way Mrs. Karen and Mr. Alex has been Sarah’s teachers for all 3 years and the attention and correction they give her. I love the helpful suggestions and recommendations to help Sarah; love them! I love the care and attention Mrs. Debra shows us parents! When I voiced that I loved the program, but could not see how I could get her to class, Mrs. Debra reached out to the parents to help and boy they were LIFE SAVERS AND NEW FOUND FAMILY! I could go on and on about this program, but it truly is a testament to Mrs. Angel’s heart and vision that bleeds through this studio! I highly recommend this studio to every parent because this program truly is life changing!

I can only speak to the tap/ballet combo class. I’ve heard great things about the older classes, but I have been disappointed with the fact they put 2 year olds through 4 year olds in the same class. In my opinion there is a large developmental difference between what a 2 year old is capable of versus a 4 year old. My daughter’s teacher spends a considerable amount of time holding children while trying to teach and it is distracting to the other students. I do feel the parents should be watching and take their children out of the class if they are not able to participate, and the teacher in reality should not need to be holding someone’s child. Having 2 year olds with the 3 year olds is likely fine, but I feel that should be the cutoff. The teacher is very sweet and has great intentions with the girls but I think their class model could be improved. I don’t feel that my daughter is going to be learning and improving this year.

Angela Floyd School has been wonderful for us! We are at the west location in Farragut. We first came to take a beginner ballet class and it has been a fun experience!
We love the location, the space, and the instructors! Everyone has been super helpful and positive. My daughter always comes out of class smiling and happy!
There's great indoor and outdoor patio seating and it's a great place to socialize or read if you're waiting on a class to finish.

Both of my granddaughters attended the preschool program at Angela Floyd School for Dance. What wonderful experiences they have had! They were so ready and prepared for kindergarten. Not only were they ready academically, they really enjoyed the music and dance parts of the program. The teachers were excellent and I knew that the girls were safe and well taken care of during the time they were there at the studio. I would highly recommend this program to all, and as a retired elementary school teacher after almost 40 years teaching myself, I know this to be a successful curriculum.

Outstanding music, art, and dance school. The teachers are great and especially all the staff. It is the best thing that happened to our family and our daughter Tamara. Tamara is enjoying her music piano class.. She worked with different instructors since she was 6 y/o and she got along with them very easily. She learned different techniques almost every week and she had become very good at playing piano as well as academically. She is an A student, thanks to music, piano, and Angela Floyd.

Angela Floyd School of Music and Dance is the most respectful and trustworthy place you could leave your child in so they can thrive doing their favorite after school activities. We have absolutely loved having our girl in dance here! My husband will not pay for anything that won't teach our kids skills or discipline when they participate. He finds it a waste of time to have the kids in activities that are just for "fun" but won't teach them anything. Our girl LOVES coming here and has learned a lot in the last couple of months since she started. If it were up to her she would attend every day. This is a review specifically for the Angela Floyd Performing Arts Preschool program.

We moved to this area 4 years ago. We have 2 young children and have experienced Angela Floyd Schools, Concord Christian, Trinity Learning Center, Primrose, and Morning Star. By far the best experience has been Angela Floyd. If you have a 3 or 4 year old child, below are just some reasons as to why they are the best!:

The Teachers: The school has a female and a male teacher and they are amazing! Both are incredibly talented people with years of experience. Unlike many other schools, you see the teachers every day at drop off and pickup, and they’re always available to answer questions and to update you on how your child is doing.

The Ratio: The school is made up of just 1 class room, and typically there are 10 to 12 students. They have 2 teachers and an office assistant who often helps out as well. From a student to teacher ratio, you can't find better than that.

The Academics: Before I get to the performing arts piece, I am amazed at how much they teach at this school. After attending 2 years at Angela Floyd, our daughter entered CAK reading at a 4th grade level. I often worked on her reading at home, but letters and letter sounds were reinforced every day she went to school. And at that age, reinforcement is the key and we're grateful that she received it. Our son (age 4) is also currently in the program, and he too has started reading.

Performing Arts: I mean, how cool is it that they get to start learning music at the age of 3 and 4? And they get to learn the beauty of dance in all its forms and put on regular shows for us parents to watch (which are always fun to attend). And of course there's the big recital performance at the end of the year, where the preschoolers steal the show!

The Parents: Some of our greatest friends have come from the parents that we met through the program. And because you sit with the parents for a few minutes in the lobby before and after pickup, you really get the opportunity to create great bonds.

In essence, if you’re contemplating where to send your child for preschool, look no further. For the ages of 3 and 4 years old, Angela Floyd Schools are by far the best preschool option in the area. Are daughter (now age 6) continued her love for performing arts and now plays the piano, takes voice lessons, and attends 2 different dance classes weekly at AFS. Our son wants to learn drums with Mr. Alex when he turns 5, and will also continue with dance. It's been a great program for our family, and hopefully will be an incredible opportunity for those of you reading this review!

My daughter has been taking voice from Mr. Daniel with AFS for almost two years. She absolutely loves it and I can’t say enough good things about it. My daughter has high functioning autism and Mr. Daniel is so good with her. He is patient and kind and understands how to work with her. We love AFSD! It all started when I signed my 4 year old up for a 4 week summer camp, just to see if she liked it. After the second week, we signed up for regular classes. They are absolutely spectacular! My daughter is a Senior this year and she loves this dance school. It is like her second family. The friends she has made and the healthy environment as well as their sense of community has helped her in our transition from Delaware. My 2.5 year old has stayed home with me throughout Covid. We put her in preschool hip hop because she loves to dance, but also for social interaction and to start learning how to pay attention to teachers. We are extremely happy at AFS, and wish we would've found them sooner! Sorry, but this will be long!
My daughter has participated in several extracurricular activities since she was 2 (gymnastics at 2 different gyms, soccer, and swim lessons). AFS is hands down the best bang for our buck. I feel like the one hour classes are great, and I feel like she is busy the whole hour. At gymnastics, they would take 5 water breaks in a 45 minute class 😳. Her teacher is wonderful, and the other parents have been very friendly. My daughter looks forward to coming every class, and is especially excited about getting to dress up tonight for Halloween!
I am very happy with the communication. I regularly get emails and text check-ins, which really makes me feel like they care.

We are so happy to be part of the Angela Floyd Family! Our daughter attends the performing arts preschool program and we are thrilled with it. Ms. Karen and Mr. Alex are wonderful teachers and we cannot believe how much she learns not only in dance and music but academically as well. One goal I had for my son Atticus was to find him a music class. We tried to two other music programs before finding the Angela Floyd School. I wanted a class that was technical even though my child was just 2 years old. I started to think my expectations were too high. Then Atticus tried his first music class at the Angela Floyd School. When he came out of class he was smiling and showed me what he had learned during that class.
Next his teacher, Ms. Sydney explained what they worked on in class and homework we could work on until the class. Ms. Sydney is a great teacher and is very patience with her students. You can tell she has a great passion for music and teaching others.
The school has dates on the schedule where parents can observe the last ten minutes of their child’s class. I was blown away at the things he knew in addition to what we worked with him on at home. We love this school and look forward to our daughter Everest joining when she turns two.

We love Angela Floyd! After moving to Knoxville just over a year ago, finding the right dance studio for my daughter was one of the hardest parts about moving. After trying several studios in the west Knox area, we are so thankful to have found AF. The communication is top notch. The greatest strength of this studio has been their willingness to work with each individual dancer and best identify the class level for them. Our 8 year old daughter has been dancing at AFS for 5 years. She started out in ballet, but moved to Hip Hop as it better suited her personality. Her teachers have been wonderful to her throughout the years - working with her individually as well as in a class setting. She thrives on what she calls "The Big Stage" at the end of the year recital (which, by the way, is the best run recital in Knoxville - by far!). Our daughter has just started violin lessons at AFS as well and she is really loving it. So much so that she wants to continue with both dance and music. Our family sees this as both convenient and valuable to have both offerings in one place. There are hours to put in - for sure - but any good studio would require that. The flexibility in making up classes is appreciated as well. The staff knows our family and interacts with us whenever they have the opportunity. Look no further for a great dance and music school! We have been so pleased with our experience at Angela Floyd Schools! This is our fourth year at this studio, third year on one of their competition teams, and our first year joining the music school. Our very first experience was a summer camp at the studio. It was a week long program and our daughter had the best time! Everyone was so friendly and we knew this was the place for us! The staff is organized and efficient in handling the day to day business of the studio. We have been so impressed with the teachers. They are qualified and come from dance backgrounds. They are very genuine and care for the child’s dance education. From day one, they have taught proper dance vocabulary for the dance movements. While the teachers bring a fun approach to teaching they also are serious in teaching proper technique.

Our daughter started piano this year and we have been so pleased with her progress. The one-on-one experience with her teacher has been priceless. The teacher is so engaging and each week brings a contagious excitement under which our daughter has thrived.

Our daughter has taken ballet and tap lessons for nearly three years and has enjoyed it immensely--she'll be five this year. We just added an acro/tumbling class and she is having so much fun.

We are truly impressed with the level of education and attention given to each student. Due to a recent snow day, we as a class, were able to reschedule a make-up class on a different day other than our regular class time. This was an easy and simple process, and this really gave us a good feeling.

The dance recital is a well organized event from the moment of dress rehearsal drop-off, to the end of the recital. The result is a lovely production that has far exceeded our expectations. It really is breathtaking to see those girls (and guys) on stage in beautiful costumes doing what they love most...dancing. Our worries about security for our little ballerina were quickly put to ease. There was an organized sign-in process, then a company employee took our daughter with a group of other girls to their assigned room. We loved the security bands/tags used for pick up and felt our daughter was well cared for. The night of the recital the younger dancers are entertained with crafts, snacks and a magic show, so parents can sit back and enjoy watching the performance.

We definitely recommend this experience to anyone that is interested in enrolling their child in a top notch dance school where quality is job number one. You'll definitely receive your money's worth.

Our son always liked dance and music. When he started his classes at AFS at age 5, we were a little bit concerned that he was the only boy in his class. But the staff and other dancers made him feel absolutely comfortable.
The annual spring concerts became a big event in our family: it’s very well organized, all dances, costumes and music are beautiful. The kids get really excited well before the concert itself! We also had couple years of AF Dance Company and it was great experience as well.
Generally speaking we find the AFS staff very helpful, attentive to details and nice. This year is our fifth at AFS and our son tried everything from ballet to hip hop and acro. All these years he was certainly making big progress in his dance.

I know that my daughter is in a positive environment where she will be treated with love and respect, while taught the discipline and technique of dance. Her dance has blossomed under the supervision of Miss Angel and her staff. Further, I feel strongly that the studio expects a good attitude from the girls toward their teachers and each other. Music and costumes is always age appropriate and tasteful. I highly recommend AFS, it has been a wonderful place for Lily to grow as a dancer and as a person.

We signed our daughter up for dance with Angela Floyd, Once we seen all they were doing was having play time in the dance studio we decided to enroll her somewhere else. When we confronted them about the issue they told us it would not be like that all the time we were paying a lot for each class. We could have taken our daughter to the park and movie for the amount it cost to attend that class. When the next month passed they charged us again for the classes. We asked them about this and they told us it was there policy that you had to have a 30 day withdrawn document. They would not cancel over the phone. They required us to come down there, well I live in East Knoxville and that was a 30 min drive. There is no reason they could not cancel it on the phone except they wanted to make it hard to cancel. When I got there the lady was not available, how convenient, to help me withdraw. So I had to make a second trip a few days later. The following month they charged us again for the classes when we confronted them they said we cancelled after the cut off date. So we basically paid for 3 months for our daughter to go to the classes 3 times. I tried to speak to the owner but she would not call back. There is a lot of other dance providers in Knoxville so you might want to stay clear of this one, I could see going there if they were the only place in town but since there is others I would stay clear. You want a friendly provider.
