Yoga studioAbout the Club
We are a lineage-based yoga school rooted in the study and practice of Ashtanga Yoga. We offer Nashville’s only Mysore program. This is not just an exercise program, it is a path to improve the quality of our lives through devoted and disciplined work with the body-mind.
Mysore is the traditional way of practicing Ashtanga Yoga and it is named after the town in India from which is arose. The Mysore method offers individual guidance from the teacher while practicing in a group setting — it's like receiving a semi-private everyday. NO experience necessary — just come on in and we’ll teach you.

I highly recommend Yoga Shala for anyone looking to engage with a unique, challenging type of yoga that strengthens body and spirit. Cory ensures that Ashtanga is accessible to all and has done a beautiful job of meeting me where I am and helping me make this practice my own. If you are considering Ashtanga, or open to trying something new, I recommend Yoga Shala!

I was new to Ashtanga yoga a couple of years ago by way of online videos. Once I recognized the complexity of the practice and realized I would need guidance with my journey, I found Yoga Shala Nashville and I am so happy I did. The Shala has been such a warm and welcoming community, and aside from the physical practice, Cory supports the inner spiritual journey as well. The Shala has become a peaceful refuge for me.

I have very recently met Cory through online contact and by taking his online class. I have never taken an online yoga class and I was very happy with his guidance. I have been practicing Ashtanga yoga in the mysore style for 8 years and I enjoy Cory's style of teaching and his knowledge in yoga and meditation.
I will be moving to Nashville soon and he has been extremely willing to share his experiences in Nashville and the people I can be put in contact with regarding a place to live. You can feel that his willingness to help and his teachings comes from his heart. Thank you Cory.

In a town like Nashville, where yoga studios are plentiful, the Yoga Shala stands apart. The main instructor Cory is an extremely skilled and compassionate teacher who helps each student connect to the practice and work through personal yoga goals. The space is also exceptional, partly because it's in the wing of a beautiful church in East Nashville, and partly because it's so well cared for. Unlike other studios that offer "vinyasa" style workout classes, the classes offered at the Shala are unique and connected to more traditional forms of yoga, like Ashtanga, Mysore and Jikmakti. Because of the genuine energy of the teachers and students, the Shala is a kind of thriving community for those looking to practice and learn more about yoga. I feel very lucky to have such a great studio in my city. <3

Cory is a gem! His truly knowledgeable teaching comes from such an authentic, sweet and humble space. He knows when to offer guidance and when to let the student find it by guiding their inner voice. Wonderful blend of lightness and challenge. Perfect blend of the traditional aspects of yoga and the physical alignment necessary to stay safe.

Yoga Shala Nashville is a truly unique place. This space is for anyone, not just in terms of body type, skill level, years of experience, etc., but also for those who just want a good workout and those who are seeking spiritual development. The owner and lead teacher, Cory, is incredibly knowledgeable about both the physical and spiritual side of the practice. He is gentle and patient, and at the same time challenges his students to move deeper into the practice, whether physically or spiritually. He also does a great job of bringing in other experienced teachers to offer a variety of workshops. I knew from day one stepping into the beautiful space with its massive bright windows that this would be my yoga shala. Almost two years later it has become so much more than that for me personally.
And for those who have a crazy, every changing schedule like me -- Cory is super flexible on scheduling! He has always been willing to work with me on that...something you don't get in many yoga studios these days...

I've been searching for a studio that feels like home for the past couple of years. I found that home at the Shala. At first, the Mysore practice felt a little awkward since everyone is practicing at their own pace and there's no one "leading a class". Insert Cory - the owner. He is a phenomenal teacher and gave me the one on one attention that I was craving to help deepen my practice and ensure proper alignment. And he does it all with this big ole smile on his face. So glad to be part of this community!!!!

Cory teaches you to practice by yourself even if you are a beginner. Mysore classes are group classes, but it is as same as private lessons as you get 1:1 guidance from Cory and other staff members for postures, sequence, everything. I’m so glad I found this place!!

I have tried several methods of learning yoga, and I sincerely think the main style here, Mysore, is one of the best! This studio can accommodate any level of experience, and everyone I’ve met here so far is super friendly and helpful. There are also good virtual options.

As a complete novice, I wasn’t sure that Ashtanga yoga would be something I could do. Cory and the Mysore format has made learning and growing very accessible. The support and encouragement from everyone in the shala community has been life changing. Thank you Yoga Shala Nashville!

I absolutely adore Yoga Shala, and the owner Cory. I live in Maryland, but sign into classes online and am able to feel part of this community.
As a certified yoga instructor myself, I am VERY picky about which yoga studios and teachers I frequent—Yoga Shala provides some of the best quality classes I’ve encountered anywhere! They are physically challenging, incorporate yogic philosophy and principles, and embody the true mind-body practice that is real yoga.
If you are new to yoga or a pro, you will learn from Cory and the wonderful teachers he’s cultivated. Expect to increase your strength, stamina, flexibility—as well as your mental resilience, and loving kindness you exude in the world.
Lokah samasta sukihno bhavanto—May all beings everywhere be happy and free!

Cory is one of the best yoga teachers out there, and it is an absolute honor to practice with him! After years of searching, I finally found a teacher with a wealth of knowledge, experience, and wisdom. He focuses on building a strong foundation for your practice, both on and off the mat. In addition to his asana classes, I enjoy his yoga philosophy talks and meditation classes. And all of the additional teachers he’s brought on board are the best of the best!

Cory is a truly gifted teacher. His guidance is gentle, informative, and encouraging. He is one of the best teachers I have ever had! His adjustments were so helpful. I learned so much from just one class. Nashville is lucky to have him! I hope to return when I’m in the area again.

Cory and his team are thoughtful, patient, and compassionate teachers. They see the Ashtanga practice as a healing, exploratory tool for every person’s body, so you can learn and practice in a way that is unique to your needs. In addition, they offer yoga beyond physical poses including meditation, breathing exercises, and reading/self-study. And they are a fun and friendly group. Best way to start your day. 😁
