My first visit to Barry’s was a great full body cardio/hiit exercise, I definitely underestimated how heavy those little 30lb weights would feel by the end! Cameron was an enthusiastic instructor, encouraging everyone to challenge themselves and really put in the work. Having on-site protein shakes was very convenient afterwards, taking a morning class I hadn’t eaten much prior and that peanut butter shake really hit the spot.

Was looking for a gym near work with tanning. Checked out the website and it doesn't have memberships just classes. I don't need classes. Seems like this gyms thing is making personal trainers money which is good. I myself want to be a trainer someday but do I need one? Nope. Should a gym be focused on bringing in clientele or feeding trainers new people because they can't retain their own clients? If you aren't good enough to build a client base just open up a gym I guess.

Cameron‘s attention to detail to timing on his music in coordination with the efforts of movements on the floor blocks and especially during any running series is motivating and hits just right to get a peak of energy right before recovery is definitely needed. Love that his programming is simple and consistent with a dash of flare to elevate and exercise if we want to take that option. Always has a bright smile on his face that comes in handy during the hardest blocks of class. Whenever I’m in town from Atlanta, I always make an effort to come see Cameron!

If you’re looking for a workout where you can just mosey along without breaking a sweat, Josh is definitely not your guy. With his sarcastic humor and never-ending banter, Josh somehow makes every grueling moment in class both challenging and, surprisingly, hilarious. He’ll have you questioning why you ever thought jumping squats were a good idea, all while cracking jokes that make you laugh just enough to forget the burn (well, almost).

Josh has this amazing ability to roast you just enough to keep you motivated without crossing the line—it's an art form, really. He’s quick to call you out if you’re slacking (in the funniest way possible) but also knows how to give props when you’re crushing it. His playlists are on point, and he somehow seems to know exactly when to cue the perfect song just as you’re ready to collapse.

If you want a class that’s as entertaining as it is effective, Josh is your guy. Just don’t expect any sugar-coating—he’ll tell it like it is, and you’ll love him for it.

I was visiting Nashville and wanted to take a spur of the moment workout class, so I really didn’t do much research before picking this class/studio. I had a great time and I’m not really a huge HIIT fan. Oronde was super upbeat and has a fantastic playlist! The class felt shorter than it was because of the good energy. The two women at the front desk were also super helpful, I unfortunately can’t remember their names or I’d give them a shoutout. I’ll be back if I’m in town :)

Never been to Barry's before and I have done my 1st 2 classes. My wife has always been a fan and told me about it but I have a home gym and do kickboxing so never really was too interested. After my 1st two workouts I am hooked I do not get that same workout at home and it is very intense and a fantastic workout. If you have ever thought about trying it my advice is to give it a shot because it is seriously worth it. Group class but nightclub ambiance (dark) and the music is great so its like you're in your own world for the workout at the same time. 12/10 experience. I have also done crossfit before this workout is night and day more enjoyable than crossfit and you're only using dumbbells so none of the lifts are complicated thus not taking up alot of class time to go through proper form etc. The treadmills are also top notch nicest treadmill I have ever used. I am officially a Barry's guy all I need is a shirt!

I mean, insane that they charge you these prices for 25 minutes treadmill and 25 minutes floor excersize. It's the lulu lemon version of Orange Theory. Yeah I get a burn, but I also do when I press a program on the treadmill. This is the most pretentious club I've ever been to. They aren't welcoming to new comers, there's barely any dudes, I'm a guy. The girls come in with their makeup all done and the most expensive clothes. This place is a status symbol. Again, it is a good burn, but one you could pay less for elsewhere. Best thing is the red light, gotta say I loved the red lights and the music was good. However please save your money, there are far better options for a studio. They have ridiculous refund policies also, including credits that expire, even if the studio is being blocked off for a marathon.

love this place! they’ve got such an amazing team— from the instructors to the manager to the front desk crew. they take the time to learn their clients’ names and stories, which is likely why so many people describe the group as a workout family/ team. the instructors are efficient but intentional, and you’ll truly maximize every bit of 50 minutes for a full body HIIT workout every time. the “tried and true” instructors who have been with the studio a long time are obviously amazing, but the newer faces in the Red Room are just as incredible. I walk in AND leave with a smile every time I’m here!

Barry's has a cult following and gives you a great workout if you put the work in. There's no denying that. I'm giving Barry's 4 stars because there are a few areas that could be greatly improved. (Note: some of the things that I dislike, may be the things that others love.)

1. It's way too loud. If you need to provide ear plugs at the front desk, it's too loud! But thank goodness they DO have ear plugs.

2. The instructor is 'teaching' two classes at the same time - floor, and tread. It's hard to hear what they are saying half the time, and hard to understand which class they are talking to. This makes it difficult to follow along, especially for newer folks. And of course, because there are so many people to just one instructor - who's teaching two classes in the dark - there's a lot of room for poor form and injury.
Recommendation: lower the music and increase the instructor's mic volume. Have a set structure for tread for people to self-follow, and focus on instructing people on the floor.

3. It's SO DARK. It's hard to see anything, and when you have to go back and forth between floor and treads, and put weights away in between, it makes it unnecessarily difficult to get around. At the very least, add some lights near the weights so people can see what they are picking up & can put them back safely.

4. Chaotic - with the Barry's setup, in theory, it shouldn't be hard to put a process in place to make the transition from floor to tread simple. To put it bluntly - it's a hot mess when people are moving. Sometimes weights need to be returned. Then folks find their area. People wait around. Everyone crashes into each other. There's no organization at all and it's frustrating and probably cuts off an extra minute or two of class. It would be easy to add a tiny bit of structure to reduce this chaos when switching positions.

This was my first boot camp type workout. I typically hit the weight 4-5 days a week. I was out of town and Needed to mix up my routine.
The facilities were nice, lockers, showers, and changing room. They had a good assortment of drinks as well.
Something that stood out to me was the treadmills. They were somewhat cushioned and had give when you stepped. My shins were not throbbing when I finished.
The atmosphere is cool, instructors are motivating, and I enjoyed my workout.
After your workout they greet you with a chilled towel to cool off. I burned right at 1000calories in the 1 hour workout.

One of the best workouts that there is! I can't say enough about the staff, amenities, and system as I believe that everything is top class. If you're young with no lingering issues/injuries and you're familiar with basic weightlifting form this is the best that there is. If you're not then I really would be a little hesitant to recommend this system (hence 4 stars). As much as the trainers are knowledgeable and helpful and try their best to accommodate, they're limited as to what they can do with this exercise system. The room is very dimly lit and the exercise is very fast paced, and classes are usually pretty full of around 40-50 people. So as far as a trainer being able to check form or offer modifications it really is impossible. Also almost every workout that they offer is pretty heavy on the core/ab area, so if you have lower back issues I'd definitely stay away. In summary, if you're young, in moderate shape (able to do any HIIT style), and already know proper form then I'd highly recommend this place/system! Otherwise go at your own risk.

I know that Barry's Bootcamp is very popular and increasingly so. I can see the lure of it - very nice space, very fit instructors who are naturally very inspiring, and great interval training work outs. The studio is located in the Gulch, the heart of Nashville. Despite being in such a coveted neighborhood, the studio is very spacious and clean. I never checked out their amenities because I knew I wasn't going to be a regular there. The instructors are friendly, energetic, and gives good cues. They're all in fantastic shape, which I think is one of the selling points of Barry's, although I don't think you can assume they are testaments to its effectiveness. Anyway, the workouts is why I think it falls short of being a perfect five star. The class alternates between cardio (running on the treadmill) and weights. The latter is where the variability of the classes come from (focus on different body parts). Typically, you'd start with 10 minutes on the treadmill and then hop off for weights on the bench and then back on the treadmill. I really do love this type of interval training, it gets the sweat and the heart racing. However, this is all done in a very dimly lit room and I just can't imagine the instructors being able to check your form especially in a class of about 50 people. I think it caters to younger people who are resistant to injury even with bad form and excludes people who need more instruction.

The name "Bootcamp" can be intimidating. I'm not a workout junkie. It's more like a thing I do because I know it's good for the body. Calling it a workout doesn't do it justice; it's more like an "experience." The music is pulsing, the room glows red, the fans swirl the air, and the instructor motivates you. I always work out with Josh and he's great. I also think the business does a good job with the little things like nice soaps and lotions, towels, and mints. Check it out!
