Mr. Waddell is excellent with all levels, teaches them to have fun, not give up, and to respect themselves and each other.

My boys started karate class here a couple of months ago. We chose this place for convenience and cost and no yearly contracts required. We thought our experience was going well until we discovered that our boys had been talked about on social media and Chris Waddell had the audacity to actually use their names. My boys are ages 4 and 5. They were started in a class with other children where some had been taking lessons for many months and some even years. My boys were expected to just follow the more experienced students with little to instruction from Chris. They were never even actually taught the proper way to "spar and stance". We started them in karate mostly for disciplinary purposes more than anything else. Chris Waddell decided to share with the entire social media world which I'm sure probably includes all of Lenoir City that he thinks maybe he should shut down his karate class because he is tired of only having one or two kids in his class and the one or two kids that show up he doesn't want to see. Then he said he was tired of seeing my boys every week.
My boys are 4 and 5. They don't listen well. They are wild like normal 4 and 5 year old boys. They don't know their right from left. Their vocabulary is limited. But they are fully capable of learning.
The thing that surprised me most about Chris Waddell speaking of my boys this way is the lack of passion that he has shown about teaching karate. If he was passionate about what he does then he would be excited to see all of his students and strive for them to do better and put effort into teaching. Half of his classes he did not even participate in teaching. He had older students instructing the class. I'm not sure why he didn't want to see my boys anymore if he had minimal interaction with then anyway.
No one deserves to have their children talked about I such a way, especially on social media.
I highly recommend not using this location if you are interested in karate classes for your child.
Maybe after word gets out he will have his wish that his karate school shuts down and he won't have to see kids every week that he does not want to see.

Chris Waddell's Martial Arts is a wonderful place to take your kids! We love Chris's knowledge and enthusiasm. He makes classes fun while teaching the kids martial arts. His prices are reasonable and his classes are a blast! Check him out and see for yourself!
