We love East Tennessee Ballet Academy. Cindy is a jewel in our small town. Our kids have learned many skills about self-discipline and commitment that will go with them into the future. I'm grateful for Cindy's vision of teaching this type of ballet to any child who wants to learn.

Wanted to just comment and say how impressed I am with this ballet academy and how well I think Ms. Cindy works with all the dancers. My sister has been dancing with ETBA for 5 years and she has told me so many behind-the-scenes stories about what happens before and during rehearsals/shows/art walks/etc and etc. She started ballet when she was a little older, but has been encouraged, pushed, and trained to where she can dance at a higher level, and is still growing. She absolutely loves it there and the work ethic that the all the girls are helped to achieve will go with them in future careers, even if it’s not ballet. She has been so motivated and so strong because of the work Ms. Cindy puts into her and all the other ballet dancers at ETBA every day, week after week. ♥️

Cynthia is a wonderful teacher. She is great with the kids as well as all her teachers. Her classical training shines through and the students look strong. None of her students look stick thin but look strong for their body type. My daughters went through her program and one danced professionally for a few years right out of East Tennessee ballet program! The dedication Cynthia has for her students and developing strong technique is amazing. The study of ballet, just like the study of a sport or the study of music, takes years of dedication. The serious student will carry this commitment and strength in whatever they do! I have strong, confident, independent daughters who are succeeding in their chosen fields in part due to their training in ballet at East Tennessee ballet academy

I don’t recommend going at all to this dance school! Don’t take your children here. I went here for a several years. My last time was in 2021. The teacher is very ABUSIVE! She will make you feel like you are not thin enough for her school and tell you you need to “fix” whatever health problems you have. She stole 100$ from my single mother and used that money to pay for a Milligan nutcracker performance I wasn’t in. She told me to fix several chronic problems and told me I needed to lift my 125 pound body. She made me get into a eating disorder making me feel I wasn’t thin enough. She made us dance in 32 degree weather inside with no heat on! She wouldn’t turn the heat on and my blood sugar was dangerously high and I out of instinct reacted and she didn’t care. She made us dance for 2 hours straight no water breaks and wouldn’t let us ask question and if we did she told us to shut up and would yell at us. All the girls in that school are warped in her idea of unhealthy and unsafe classical ballet. This woman only picks her favorite to be leads and begs students from the past to comeback and dance and tricks them into paying her when she begs them to dance. This woman is also racist. She puts your race in certain dances if you don’t look like the dance you were originally going to be in. She made a girl brush my African American curls out because it was frizzy before a show and pulled my hair back so tight that it made me look like a completely different race then what I actually am. She pushed me to dance so much that I now have chronic knee and leg injuries and I had to take physical therapy but it only did a little to get my leg’s strength back. I have to wear a knee brace if I’m going to be standing or walking for long periods of time. I am now 18 and I am finally getting control of my eating disorder and am taking care of myself and body image. I danced there from age 10 to 16 and if I had stayed in those last moments of that nutcracker rehearsal with my health conditions I would have died that day if I didn’t react and walk out that building. My mother would not allow me to go back after that day because it was not safe. As soon as she saw the tears and my frozen hands she never let me go back and I’m grateful she didn’t.
