Lou Hoyt is a wonderful instructor. I had not attended her classes for a few years and when I recently returned, she was so welcoming. Before the start of each class series, she always asks new and returning students about any concerns or physical limitations they may be experiencing. She knows the practice is never about pushing, it's about allowing your body to move into the different yoga positions.

I've practiced a variety of yoga styles for 10 years and Lou is the best yoga instructor I've ever met. If you're looking for a practice that focuses on alignment then this is your studio. Eastern Sun is a comfortable and welcoming environment.

I have been a student at Eastern Sun Yoga for more than 10 years, and I think it is one of the best yoga studios in the United States. Recognizing that we live in a time of rampant hyperbole, I still feel that it would be impossible to over-praise Eastern Sun and its owner and primary teacher, Lou Hoyt.

Eastern Sun has provided instruction in classical yoga, adhering to the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar since 1987. As a student at Eastern Sun you will learn how to practice to gain strength, flexibility, balance, and improve your mental well being for the rest of your life.

Lou holds a Junior Intermediate Level III Iyengar certification and has studied and practiced yoga in Memphis, TN for 30 years. She regularly travels to India to study with the Iyengars, most recently, August 2012. Lou also serves as an assessor in the Iyengar teacher-training program.

There is only one Eastern Sun Yoga. It is not a chain, and it is only in Memphis Tennessee.

Great studio with all the supplies one would need. ESY offers Beginner to Expert classes. I've been doing yoga for years but went to the beginner's class with my mom. Lou is an attentive and knowledgeable teacher. I learned new stretches and was able to revert back to the basics to perfect my form. Definitely one of the best teacher/classes I've ever been to. She is one of Memphis' best kept secrets!
